First off, I want to say that I am lucky to have one of James Price's amps. I've played through everything from Mesa's to vintage Marshalls, to Bogner's. Never have I heard anything that sounds as amazing as this thing does. The dual channel 100 watt head is a dream in itself. The clean channel sparkles and sounds like liquid. I am still amazed at how there is NO hum what so ever. This thing is as quite as they come. The overdrive channel is undescribable. There are no words for it. It's better than any Bogner or Plexi you have ever heard. It blooms like no other amp in the world. It honestly feels like with this amp, my guitar plays itself. This amp comes complete with an effects loop, and the channels are footswitchable. Absolutely amazing James.

Sound Quality : 10
I have played several diffrent guitars through this amp, and I feel like a kid on Christmas everytime I turn this thing on. I get the most amazing blues sounds out of this thing through my Strat. Its so good you would think I stole the amp out of a studio in Nashville. I also have an Ibanez RG-470 that sounds amazing through this thing as well. But the guitar used most through it is a PRS with dragon pickups. First off let me say that yes, it is a nice guitar, but this amp makes this thing sound increadable. You can go from Eric Johnsons sound, to Satriani's clean sound, to Via's over the top lead sound. This amp will do anything you could ever dream of. It dials in so easily. I have never heard an amp that could have such a round sound, yet be able to cut through at the same time. The clean channel does not distort what so ever, which in itself is a feat, but then you add on top of that that it sounds better than the clean from a $3500 dollar matchless, and at that point you have my attention. The Distortion can honestly range to fit whatever sound you can dream of. I can play metallica one minute, and eric johnson the next. Anything you could dream up, this amp can do.

Reliability : 10
I always knew anything I purchased from James Price would be reliable, but he really outdoes himself. This amp is a tank. If you drove off with it on top of your car, I seriously doubt anything would be wrong with it, minus a tube change, and risking hurting that beautiful chassis. Also, James is the kind of person that if you called and said, "theres something up with my amp", he would do whatever it took to find and fix it immedeatly. Thats just how he is. But if you look inside one of his amazing hand crafted amps, you will know instantly that this thing can endure anything.

Customer Support : 10
On a scale of 1-10, I would have to give James an 11. Any question/problem you could ever have, you always know James is there to take care of it. He almost always answers his phone, and if not, then he calls you back immedeatly. He is the most knowledgable amp builder I have ever met as well. Any question you could ask on tone, or the fabrication of your amp, he has an answer for. James is the absolute nicest, most professional person you could ever meet or talk to.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar about 11 years. As far as gear goes, I got my guitars, a reverb unit, and an omega. Thats all I could ever need. If you want one of the most amazing, versitile amps you will ever hear, give James a call. From Custom Plexi's, to matchless, to Marshall, he can do it all, and better. I will never own another amp. If this thing was stolen, I'd quit playing guitar until I could buy another one. lol. I would compare this particular amp to a vintage plexi/matchless combination. It has the most beautiful clean sound, and the most amazing lead sound. What more could I ask for. Anything I wish I had? Maybe a Gmajor, just to play around with :)

This amp sounds freakin good.It is the closet thing to the Overdrive Special and Steele String Singer Of DUMBLE's.The tone is just amazing it sounds incredible.Every note that you play is surrounded by warmth and tonal ability like no other.Ive set it side by side with TWo rocks Fuch's and various others that are similar in type. But this one just sounds better hands down.Need to be a pretty seansoned guitar player or this amp will get away from you.

Reliability : 10
This amp never fails me I play a lot at live shows and never any problem. If you have ever read anything about SRV blowing up Fender Amps because they ran so hot this thing runs COLD AS ICE.!!!

Jim Price at Omega Amps deserves to be recognized as a TOP NOTCH amp builder. His work and integrity is a rare find for anyone searching for great tone and solid construction. I sent Jim a Fender Twin reissue chassis. He returned a hand wired original blackface spec twin with upgrades to boot. Jim is very quick to respond to any questions via phone or email. He is generous & kind. I don't know what else to say. He really knows what he's doing and cares a lot. you won't be dissapointed.

Jim Price made my amp out of a 1965 Bandmaster. I'm giving it a 10 here because it had everything I wanted or needed in an amp. The only original parts on the amp are the transformers, cabinet, and the chassis. Jim created a two channel amp with clean and drive channels--footswitchable. It's all handwired, point to point goodness. The amp is rated at 50 watts with 5 12ax7s and 2 6l6s, featuring a shared eq consisting of treble, mid, and bass controls along with a presence and resolution pot. Three toggle switches allow a pre eq, bright, and boost switch to help you shape tone and tweak to desired levels of clean, crunch, and all out high-gain.

Jim also had a custom faceplate made with cream chicken head knobs that looks snazzy.

Sound Quality : 10
Jim designed a circuit flexible enough to cover any type of music--country, blues, jazz, metal. The gain was set up in this amp allowing it to stay clean to a point on the drive channel with quick beak up to all out metal shred. You can get anything from warm sustain, to Tubescreamer leads, to nu metal territory. The clean isn't really Fendery super-clean sound as much as it is a darker warm clean. The bright switch and presence help add some sparkle to the clean channel. This is the quietest amp I?ve ever played. You can crank the gain on the drive channel. Mute your strings and nothing. No hum--nothing. Now, I haven't played single coil equipped guitars through the amp, but when I picked it up from Jim, he demoed for me with his Strat, running a multi fx processor through the loop and it was still silent!

Reliability : 9
When I got it home, there was a slight hum due to a solder coming free. But Jim worked with me, and was very helful in determining the problem--he even sent me a new set of tubes. I doubt this amp will have any problems going for another several decades--save changing the tubes once in a while.

Customer Support : 10
I hate to be cliche, but I wish this category went higher than 10. Jim is, bar none, the nicest, friendliest guy. He'd probably drive out to your house to help you get the tone you are looking for if he could. Jim answers the phone when you call, calls you back when you leave a message. He returns email promptly--usually within the hour when he can. I can't tell you how incredibly happy you'll be if you get one of Jim's amps. You just don't get this kind of service from the big guys these days.

Overall Rating : 10
I?ve owned a Fender Twin Reverb, 2 Rivera Chubsters, THD Bivalve, Mesa Mark IV, Rivera Rake, and a Two Rock Emerald(high gain mod). Of these amps, this is the nicest. It?s not laden with features like the Mesa nor does it have the fancy features of tube switching like the THD, but it has TONE! That?s what I was after. I found Jim right here on HC, as it turned out he lived close enough that I had the pleasure of meeting him. After talking to Jim on the phone, in person, and via email, I consider him a friend. I can't recommend him and Omega amps enough. Thanks Jim.
