I was looking for headroom !! and it increased a lot after mod .
The sound is so beautyfull.. and much more articulate indeed. All the audio spectrum confusion I had before mod is GONE !! the low E and A strings were very muddy before , the mod fixed it.
The amp is very "inspiring" now !

Think it was a few years old, its an American made HRD 2x12. I bought it used off of e-bay for 400 bucks. Everthing but Metal, this amp can cover everything else with ease.3 channels, 6 with my Keeley Katana Booster, mine has mids boost feature.i use this bad boy for gigs where i need to cut thru the band mix , not that im into very lould, but my un modded 1x12 sometimes gets buried in the mix when setting up right next to drummer, o yea this thing has enoughpower to play in a stadium or large arena or anything in between, i also had a new purple face plate and purple jewel bulb installed, nice looking too and the amp is on wheels for moving around easily

this amp is a beast, its one of the best sounding amps ive ever played and ive played all kinds of regular and boutique amps. this amp is 100% pedal killer, I dont care what kind of od boutique o/d or distortion pedals you own, i got em too, this is the real deal. the od is the purest possible, in terms of getting light od to med od to over the top dripping in harmonic sweetness, all you do is set the amp up hot, then use the volume pot on your guitar to control it, its organic, musical and this amp sings like a multi thousand dollar amp, probebly the one drawback ive heard is that you cant play this thing at its best at extremely low bedroom volumes, this thing needs some juice and sounds great at lower volumes too, i use it on stage at reaonable volumes and usually doing shows its miked, but believe me it sounds incredible, one guy i know has told me if you need to get great tones, at super low volumes buy a Fuchs, it does that well, but for me, i need something that sounds tops at med low volumes and above, its perfect for my needs. many people question what the clean channel will sound like after its modded, i wondered too since i never had a blackface style amp, after i got it and played it, i love the new modded clean channel, its rounder, warmer, has more sustain, great feel and expression, is perfect for blues and jazz stylings and blends in to the mix better then the un modded clean on my 1x12, its very clean but has more charactor to it. Im still keepig my un modded 1x12 for grab and go or super clean with od pedals in front of it, the drive/more drive channels are to die for, the only other gain pedals i will use are my Mayo fuzz and Katana booster, YOU DO NOT NEED ANY OD PEDALS, I REPEAT, YOU DO NOT NEED ANY OD PEDALS,my search is over, this is the REAL DEAL

This amp has saved me thousands of dollars. for now it has ended my tone search becouse its exactly what i was seeking, a Fender amp on steroids that sounds noticably much better then the other guitar player who uses a non master one channel clean amp channel pushed or colored by od pedals. Remember od pedals are all a simulation of tubes overdriving. This thing goes beyond simulation, its the real deal, you feel it thru your fingers into and thru your body, i still have and love and play od pedals too but this is od on an other level, trust me, sound is subjective but this amp will give a Dumble or Two Rocks or Fuchs or Mesa Boogie a real run for its money at a much lower cost. Ok its not a hand wired point to point amp, its a modded amp. if you need that go spend thousands of dollars on a great amp as well, but im telling you, sound wise this thing amp screams with expression, fender puts out a great concept in this amp but Jim Price turns it into one of the best amps you and I will ever hear or own

This was a stock 212 Fender DeVille made last year (Mexican). I sent it to Jim @ Omega Amps and he made this amp sound professional. It is DEFINITELY versitile enough for the stylesof music I play most often. I do praise and worship in the vein of rock and pop/rock. It is still three channels. There are no features I wish it had. Jim added a NORMAL/FAT switch on the back to tighten up the gain and low-end if needed, he added a push-pull mid boost on the treble pot, AND, my favorite, he added a foot-switchable mid-boost which is just REMARKABLE. Adds swirling feedback and rich, harmonicly saturated goodness. The amp stock was loud enough already, but the upgraded power supply he added gave it even more apparent power. Still 3 12AX7's, and 2 6L6's, solid state rec.

The only words that come to mind when describing the difference between stock and modded...Omega-style...is, rich, articulate, more harmonic content, tight, less noisy, organic, natural, smooth...the list goes on! The clean headroom is increased dramatically and breaks up more smoothly, but only at loud volumes. I have to crank it to about 7 or 8 and dig in to break it up - which is good for me. Jim also added a cool feature that I'm calling a "headroom" switch that replaced the "Bright" button. Really like a fat switch. The Drive channel is ala Dumble, and the More Drive channel is ala Marshall. So, you get the best of three worlds. This amp rocks now and is not only a LOUD amp, but also has much greater tone and sweet spots all over the place.

I can't honestly say that I know for a shadow of a doubt that this amp is extremely reliable because I just got it back this week. What I can attest to is Jim's honesty and reliability. I had a totally awesome experience dealing with him and hope to do business again. He returns phone calls AND e-mails in a more than acceptable time frame. So, I depend on Jim's word and feel totally confident that he would do what he could to take care of any, if any, problems.

This is my 2nd mod with Jim, this stock HRD 2x12 was pretty one dimensional - the mod added great enhanced full bodied clean tone, great "beginning to breakup" tone, great drive and OD tones, Jim also added a jack for a remote volume boost using any marshall type ch switch pedal. It all works and sounds great and is extremely quiet.

all the tones are superb. sparkly clean, bassman type breakup, and crunch tones are articulate, lush, and just excellent. lots of versatility from a range of tones fender, boogie, marshall, and soldano type tones. Nice texture on the pick attack, great dynamics rolling off the volume, but stays well defined. Extremely pleased witht the job done. Sounds great.

Using strats and teles all with Rio Grande pickups, pauls with dimarzio superdistortion and paf pickups, they all sound great thru the amp. Will need to get another one as a back up off ebay and have it modded, the amp really sounds great

I Brought Jim Price a brand new mexican made Fender Hot Rod Deville 2 12 and told him I wanted him to make it sound as close to a Dumble as a fender will get He added a modification and a push pull switch for a boost. The Modifications are a mystery to me but they worked wonders with this amp.
The amp is now versatile enough for me as it retained and even improved the clean Fender sound of the amp and it made the somewhat noisy and rather lack luster drive and more drive channels incredible. I can cover every thing from Blues to Jazz to Country.
It has 2 channels and dore drive and now a boost switch so virtually it has 6 channels but it is actually only two the effects loop is original and it didn't ever have a headphone jack. I which it had a built in attenuator as this amp is loud. more than enough power for me. Everything is original except the preamp tubes which we replaced with some higher gain tubes. the speakers are original as are the power tubes

I have several different guitars but I mainly use a 63 Gibson ES-345 converted to a 335's electronics with a coil tap in the hole where the veratone switch was located.
This amp just sings and sustains. the notes just bloom out of the amp it has sweet spots that are just incredible. The clean is clean to as loud as I can stand to turn it up. Around 6 or 7 is as load as I have had it and it is clean. the drive channel is virtually noise free there may be a slight hum if you get close to a transformer or a wall wort with the guitar. The more drive adds a slight bit of noise but a lot less than it had before the mod and very little compared to a my Boogie or any other amp I have played dimed to full gain. The sound is solid and clean distortion over the top with sustain and scream but not dirty or buzzy or electronic sounding. It sounds natural and it makes playing seem easy if not effortless in any register of the fretboard the articulation is defined at the low end as much as at the high end and all of this is at high gain more drive boosted. you can tame it down to any level in between back to the original fender clean. I don't need another amp unless it was a duplicate of this one to save my back from carrying it around. awesome.... almost Biblical

Jim Price was born to work on amps. He is so proud of his creations he would never let one go with faulty workmanship. If something where to slip by him he would fix it I'm sure. He followed up with a call asking how it was working. It is like there is a part of him in the amp or it is one of his children. I don't worry about service..... besides I know where he lives

I ve been playing for 35 years and I've recently had the financial blessing to be able to seek out my sound for guitars and gear. I think I have found my sound I would have never have thought it would be imbodied in a single amp especially in a fender I would have thought it would have been with a rack full of equipment and a fortune in boutique amps. All I need to add to this is a power attenuator to play in quiet venues and a digital delay and I am there. the only thing I hate about it is that I didn't have this amp 34 years ago when I started playing. If you want to get a great modification on a fender amp Jim Price is the man to see. If the word gets around like I think it will you may not be able to afford to wait. I would replace it ASAP if loss or stolen. I find it hard to discribe how good this amp sound as I am constantly find new tones and I am blown away every time I crank it up. This amp may be able to part the red sea!

This review is for a fender H.R. DeVille 2x12 all tube amp modded by Jim Price. Jim has come up with a original tone stack mod for the Hot Rod series amps that brings them to life. The mod brings out the mids with more of a cut to articulate the notes so that the amp sings. This affects all three channels of the amp. The clean channel is to rival any black face fender. The distortion channels are fat, tight, and violin-like. A foot-switchable jack is added for a boost signal along with a fat switch to give tones that rival any Marshall or Bogner amps. The reverb has a more vintage sound that Dick Dale would Love!

The amp responds great to the lightest touch or the heaviest hand. Strat players will love the voicing of your single coils through this amp, smooth chimey Black Face tones with clarity and sustain. Humbuckers are tops with this rig, sustain, harmonics on demand plus thick tone but either pick up style works well, you can just roll back the volume slightly and cleans up nicely.
With 3 channels, clean plus, 2 stage distortion. 1st stage (GREEN) with either style pick up this amp can cover so much ground, dial in as little or as much distortion as you need for Fat & chunky to creamy distortion tones! To cover artist like, SRV, Clapton, Gary Moore, Allman brothers, Weezer, 3 Doors Down. The 2nd stage(RED) is fat creamy violon-like tight distortion AWESOME!! Cover artist like STAIND, CREED , TONIC, ZZ TOP , SANTANA, HENDRIX, use the boost to get out front with cut through tone. Engage the FAT switch and get a bolder bottom end that stays tight without getting muddy, get chunky palm mutes. The 2x12?s hold there own against a Marhall, Bogner or Crate BV heads. All these features in a combo amp at far less the CO$T and less real estate to handle. You seriously can?t beat the versatility this amp has to offer after JIM?S MOD is preformed. The amp is built around tone #1 and loud with plenty of head room if you need it! The clean channel is Fender/Dumble with sparkle and 2x distortion gain stages that cook and rivals any mesa boogie, Marshall, or Bogner. This may be the last amp you?ll ever need with all the ground it will cover!!

To get the most out of this amp Jim's mod is a must!! The Deville series amp is a affordable all tube amp that has great potential, but needs a master amp builder like Jim to unleash that potential. Let it be all it can be. The amp will give you the vintage clean tones fender is famous for, plus 2 gain stage distortion that with Jim?s mod will knock your socks off!! I'll put mine against any high $$ amp and have already walked away a winner. When playing out people ask me what type of amp I'm playing. I reply an Omega amp, modded by Jim Price!! Fender should contact Jim and make his mod standard issue for the De Ville series. Fender amp sells would sky rocket!! Fenders competition would be gone because No other amp can cover all the ground this one does!!
