Omega Amps Sparks Lead 50 Head

I contacted James Price in N. Wilkesboro, NC of Omega Amps regarding a custom made high gain amplifier head. He was extremely awesome to deal with, and here's the platform we settled on: 50 watt One channel high gain amplifier, loosely based on the Soldano SLO-100, running two KT88 power amps tubes//5 12AX7 preamp tubes, with treble, bass, mid, depth, presence, master, and gain controls (the controls are named differently than the standard--one request of mine). Also includes Effects loop and two speaker outputs. In addition, there's a switch to engage the "Warren Haynes" mod. This amp has all the features I want and need.

When I first received the amp from James Price and subsequently plugged it in, I simply had to stand back and laugh at how great it sounds. This amp is a high gain amplifier, but it has aspects that, in my opinion at least, separate it from the crowd of other boutique high gain amps. This amp has an extreme amount of gain, but the greatest thing about it is the clarity of sound. It never gets muddy or shrill; it just seems to retain definition and the notes or chords produced seem to have a "thickness" about them. The other great thing is the amount of sustain on tap, even at minimal gain levels. Notes just seem to have that "liquid" quality about them. This bottom end on this amp is outrageous. Turn up the depth control, start palm-muting and hold on!! IT'S TIGHT!!!!!!!! The other important factor to mention is that the amp cleans up extremely well when the volume knob on the guitar is rolled back, and the Warren Haynes mod helps retain bottom end when the gain is low. And did I mention that this thing is loud??? Whew!!!! This amp has the tones I need or want, and can deliver them at both whisper quiet and blistering volume levels.

Here's why I would recommend James again and again. He's the nicest guy you'd ever want to work with, and he's so knowledgable and friendly about amps, you can talk to him all day. He can build or mod whatever you want. He really cares about what he does, and he wants his customers to be satisfied with what he builds.
