The fea
tures are simple and clearly laid out.
1 x Tone 1 x Volume 1 button for Overdrive= simple and an easy to read tuner.
A n Input jack on top of the amp and a little mini jack on the rear (which i found way loud with my Westone UM-1s)
I was surprised The tuner button doesn't mute the sound to the amp section..? to save those great tuning moments but i assume it being a practice amp its not essential.
I would have liked an external speaker output socket like i have on my "AmpinaCan" mini amps. they drive a quad and tho not for live work cen be fun to play around with..
Huge Bonus!! the built in Tuner.. it might not be a Peterson strobe, but its great for sitting with my guitar and checking

The amp is really versatile, this is my 5th mini amp, I tour as a guitar tech so these little things are essential for side of stage or hotel re stringing and band guys who wanna steal them and write new songs.. I played it with my Gretsch Anni and i was really blown away bu the depth of the tones i could pull out of it.after some careful knob twiddling i could pull a nice clean warm tone and the overdrive really went way into high gain territory. The Gretsch has the Filtertrons and it worked well with them, I'm gonna drag out my fender Jazzmaster tonight and try it with the single coils on that and see how it holds uop but i hold hight hope

I'm a touring Guitar tech/roadie and a semi retired wannabe rockstar,
I currently play a Gretsch 6118 Anniversary,Fender Jazzmaster, fernandes Custom Shop guitar (a nice wedding gift from Billy F Gibbons) and an older Hofner jazzica Thinline (not sure the model), a small class A hot rodded valve head and duo cab. and runing a Macbook with logic and various plug ins..
If this was lost i would buy this again for sure, and wil be recomending it to the guys i tour with for the tour bus or dressing rooms
I can't get past the great tolex weave speaker cloth, and the overall first impression is of a tasty little well designed and out together amp. I've opned it up and had a quick look round inside and it seems pretty well laid out and a good build quiality, it seems some people have had less than perfect experiences, but if anything comes loose I'll just fix it myself .
like i said i have a few of these little practice amps, of many various company's and so far this is my top pick. and the built in tuner really keeps it in the lead.

This is a 2008 Orange Amps Micro Crush 3 watt, 4 inch speaker guitar amplifier. Tiny little wood speaker enclosure with a metal back chassis. This amp (obviously) is solid state. It even has the classic orange logo on a tan wicker jute grille. Has a headphone output for silent jamming, and an overdrive channel. For the money and size, it is an extremely versatile little amp with lots of features. You'll be hard pressed to find all that packed into one teeny-tiny little amp.
Also, very importantly, it can operate off of a 9 volt battery (the compartment is on the underside) or a 9V adapter.
This amp is only a practice amp but for its size it is LOUD. And when I say loud, I mean it, since I also own a 100 watt Mesa/Boogie. What I really like about this amp is you can take it pretty much anywhere and it's very, very simple.

Before you think, "He gave a 10 to a 50-dollar SS combo" I'm giving it a 10 because this is the best sounding 50 bucks I ever spent. :)
I played through this with a variety of guitars, including an ESP EC-1000 with EMG 81 & 60, a Schecter with Seymour Duncans and coil tap, and a Hamer with Duncans, as well as a B.C. Rich mockingbird. Each sounded pretty good through it, but I'll talk mostly about the ESP's tone on it.
LOUD. And very versatile. While it's hard to get a pristine clean tone out of it, it can be done if you just roll back the volume on your guitar enough and max out the amp's volume, it'll work. The single tone control has a very wide sweep. Above 1'o clock it's too harsh, trebly and will cause a lot of feedback, but below that it's got a very decent range. And if you have the volume down low enough, you can get some very sharp, aggressive sounds out of it with the tone dimed.
There is a very smooth breakup characteristic to this amp's clean channel. Driven by powerful pickups like EMGs, the Micro Crush's volume acts like the gain control, going from pushed with your guitar at full output to ACDC, british overdrive at the high end of the knob.
Kick in the distortion channel button and you'll get some gnarly grind out of this little thing with the tone set around noon. It can get very muddy if the tone is all the way down, but just roll back your volume pot a little on the guitar and it cleans up nicely. You can go from a hard rock, Guns n Roses tone on the neck pickup to a balls to the walls, Nirvana grunge sound or metalcore riffage. There's not a whole lot of articulation, but lots of top end. And, as a plus, dialed in right, you can get a Carlos Santana vibe with gobs and gobs of violin-like feedback. Just playing around with the controls you can get a lot of funky sounds out of it. Paired with my Crybaby, this little Orange had tons and tons of rock magic.

It's not a giggable amp, come on, it's 3 watts. BUT, it's a very fun little practice amp you can take anywhere. You can toss it in your backpack or messenger bag and strap on your guitar and GO.
This unit also looks simple enough that it can take a really harsh beating before giving up the ghost. And if it did, I'd just spend another 50 bucks and get another of these little hellions.

I've never dealt with Orange Amplification. I know a couple people in England, their home country, endorsed by them and they say they're swell folks.

Among the other gear I've owned/used amp wise include Crates, Peavey XXX, Line 6 Spiders, Ibanez, and Mesa/Boogie (my current rig). I use ESP and PRS guitars most of the time and play various forms of rock, metal, progressive, and alternative. I'd definitely get another one of these things if it was stolen. And I'm pretty sure whoever stole it would be instantly addicted to it.
I love how portable and loud the little thing is. It sounds really decent so I can actually have fun with it and my guitar pretty much anywhere. I wish it had a Bass and Treble control (kinda like a stomp box) instead of one single tone control but an EQ in front of it will open a whole new realm of possibilities.
Definitely check this thing out. At 50 bucks, it doesn't get much better than this.

This is a new product for Orange, as far as I know. It has a 4" Orange designed speaker, enclosed in a real wood cabinet; don't know what kind of wood. Closed back, vented enclosure. Orange's website does not indicate how many watts are pushed through the speaker. This is a two channel amp, with a somewhat clean channel, and a distortion channel, switched with a push/push button on top of the amp. Volume and tone knobs are used to adjust volume and tone; duh!Has a built in tuner! Also includes two strap buttons, with screws so you can wear the amp with a guitar strap. Can be powered with a 9 volt battery, or with a standard Boss, Boss-like wall wart. I paid $49.99 for this thing.

The "clean" channel is not very clean, it sounds a little like an overdriven fender amp. The distortion channel is a very dirty, almost fuzz like sound. Sounds better than my Fender Mini-Tone Master; much less boxxy, and toy like. (not trash talking the Fender, but the Orange sounds more like a real amp, the Fender does sound pretty good, but not as good for the same price point) I don't like to comment on a product's tone until I have had many hours to tweak, but this practice amp is adequate for what it is. It seems pretty tonally versatile, but you won't be getting any clean tones, or any buzz saw brewtlz with this thing. It seems to be a strictly "rock'n'roll" amp; but is pretty versatile within that genre. Is not particularly loud, but is really cool for what it is. If you want an amp that will do everything, then you may want to look at a roland micro cube, or one of those tiny little vox amps. This is for rythym/lead, bedroom rock'n'roll.

When I got it home, I powered it up with my Voodoo Labs pedal power 2+. The preamp overloaded and shut off. So I used the power line out that emulates a dying battery, so I could reduce the amount of power going in to the amp. Preamp still shut off; but the whole time I had been running the amp at full power, with a distortion pedal, with high output pups. So the preamp can't handle full power very well, but will still get loud enough to play with a small ensemble, minus drums. I understand that this thing isn't designed to be super loud, but with its 4" speaker, I expected more. Seems like the speaker is a little overkill, for the small pre-amp. If Orange were to redesign this amp, they should add a little more juice inside the circuitry, Maybe some bigger caps? Running at about 80% this thing is just fine, all the buttons work, does what it is designed to do. Like I said, I expected more from a 4" speaker.

Sounds cool, has cool features, and looks cool. I already have a small 2 watt practice amp, but this has a more substantial cabinet, and speaker. Also is more portable because of the guitar strap buttons. I plan on using it to perform on the streets of downtown Nashville this summer; provided there aren't some stupid regulations for street performers that would bar me from having my fun. Hopefully it will be loud enough. I give it a seven because it doesn't play clean very well, and because of the shut-off problems. Initial quality seems very good, we'll see how it does in a year. Looks really cool, and I certainly don't regret buying it.
