The bass channel has much less gain than the lead channel;the trick is to use the "mix" input. Like all basic Marshall(because that's who built it )valve amps it stays clean until about seven on the volume controls, then it gets crunchy. I use either a Hotcake or a Germania 44 to push it over the edge-excellent old-school rock/blues sound . This amp is LOUD !!

I've used this as my main amp for about a year and it hasn't let me down. It's been serviced but still has the original Mullards in it .I always take a backup to gigs ;why push your luck?

I haven't had to ask Marshall for any tech backup . I emailed them asking for some history , but they didn't reply

Been playing 30 plus years and wanted to get back to a no-frills setup;play a Relic Strat fitted with BK Irish Tours and a Gordon Smith Gypsy SS . The Park is really only suitable for large gigs because it's so loud and needs to be ceanked . For clubs and pubs I use a Blues Junior into a Marshall 2x12. If it was stolen I don't know where I'd find another;mine is only the second one I've ever seen. This amp has all the downsides of a vintage amp, but the sound makes it wortwhile
