Has a overdrive and a clean channel. Has contour and all the tone controls you need and a spring reverb.

It doesn't not have a channel swich, though.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
This amp only does one sound that sounds good and it's hard-rock heavy metal.

You can dial a cool heavy metal style sound without the use of distortion pedals. No boss or anything will sound as good as this overdrive.

It also has a passable spring reverb, so you don't really need any effects with this amp, which is good for me because I'm lazy and don't like to have many wires around the amp. A wah wah is the only pedal I use with any amps.

The clean sound is a waste of time on this. I guess 8 inch speakers doesn't do clean sound well.

Reliability : No Opinion
Don't know how reliable it is because I bought it used on ebay with a blown amp chip. Amazingly, this amp uses an audio chip that is similar to the ones commonly found on hi-fi systems. I got a 15 watt chip from a sony hifi and soldered it in and the amp amazingly came back to life.

The better solid state amps have user changeable audio chips, so I guess this is one of the better ones. All the crap SS amps don't have this feature.

The chip I'm now using is the TDA2050.

This is a great amp if you only use it to rock out. The distortion is very good for a solid state amp.

Just remember, as with any solid state amp, never dial the volume over the half way point because it will start clipping.

Hey, my criteria is fistly, does it have a tight, tonefull high gain distortion. It does. It can offer plenty of guts without assistance from pedals. Very loud for it's size & rating.

Reliability : No Opinion
Not used that often as I rely on top end multi fx preamps at home.

Marshall are easily accessible & helpful, though the switchboard woman has attitude!!!

Yonks!
Tried a few & it outperforms most with reference to overdrive.

Not sure of the year; I bought it around 1999-2000 (I think). It would obviously be better if it had two channels, but I figure you can't expect everything in a small cheap package like this. It has two gain knobs and a master volume; bass, treble and contour controls; and reverb.

Sound Quality : 8
Using a variety of guitars: a 2003 Ibanez s470, a Yamaha RGX112 (s|s|h), and a frankenstrat with a dimarzio super distortion and a Seymour Duncan Hotrails.
With both gains on 3 you get a lovely clean tone, midway you can get various rock/blues tones, and both on 10 gives really quite a nice hard rock/metal tone (for the size/price etc). Fiddling with the contour knob changes the sound from not a million miles away from Metallica, to midrange-y AOR type noises. To be honest, for the type of amp it is, and the price, I should probably rate it higher than the 8 I've given it.

I don't find it noisy - except for single coil pickups, and hum from my PC monitor.

Reliability : 8
Had no problems with it so far. Reliability wouldn't be what stopped me using it on a gig (if I had a gig to take it on :p ). It would be the lack of channel switching etc.

Customer Support : No Opinion
not had to.

Overall Rating : 8
Been playing 17 years. Got this as my other amp was stolen, and I needed a practice amp. I have a Rat 2 distortion box, but don't find I need it, with this amp. I love that I can get surprisingly close to the sound I really want, in such a small and cheap amp. I do find the lack of channel switching quite annoying at times, but you get what you pay for.

I didn't compare it to any other amps, because this was the amp that the music shop I was walking past had in the window at that price 8)

I'd probably give it 10 (for what it is), if it had two channels.

I have it 4 years,i play rock,satriani style music.
It features One Channel,2 pre amp gain controls(gain 1 and 2),equalizer (tremble, controur, bass), reverb ,headphone jack, line out,cd input(great feature),power on led and of course volume.
For 15 watt thing it has what it needs for practising in the bedroom.

Sound Quality : 5
I have an Osmond (strat copy) with 3 crappy single coins.
One thing is for sure this thing has to be earthed cause it produces the worst noise i have ever heared when i max the 2 gain switches.
I have used it with other guitars too, like a jackson (single, single, hum), and a epiphone(great sound from epiphone).
Clean channel is clean but not to smooth and sharp i can't get the right tone what ever i do.I know i have crapy guitar gear but the damn thing can't produce what i really expect.
Recently i've tried to put max to low levels(bass) and the thing almost blow and burn,it throwed me some horrible noise and started to loose volume(bad thing) NEVER PLUG A BASS GUITAR ON IT!!!

Reliability : 8
I' am not sure if i can depend on it after that thing with the bass tone,i almost destroy my amp.
IT IS A STRONG AMP!!! i have droped it from 1,5 meters long 1 in=0,0254 m and 1 feet=12 in(for calculations),and it wasn't hurted at all.I don't sit on it.
I will put an eight cause of the sound it produces after i pluged the base guitar in,and it started getting worst in sound.

Customer Support : No Opinion
don't know.

Overall Rating : 8
For bedroom practise yes.
Any other use will require a better amp.
It can get very loud and it beat peavy and a lamp 30 (can't remember name model) amp in loudness

The amp has two gain controls which allows me to tweak around with levels of overdrive nicely, there is only one channel obviously as it is a practice amp. it has your basic treble, contour and bass controls, plus reverb. There is a headphone jack which can be useful to spare the rest of the family (as I use it to play in my bedroom), though the headphones don't sound too great, but ok for practicing. The CD input has proven useful on a few occasions, though I prefer to just whack a CD through my stereo. It's only a 15 Watt so it's not quite bleeding-ear material.

Sound Quality : 6
I'm playing a yamaha AES500 which I love to bits. I've has the amp for a couple of years now, and I'm sure the sound has deteriorated drastically. The when the amp is set on clean, the tones are good, but as the gain settings are low, the amp seems to strougle with producing a full sound. With the overdrive on, I don't really find much joy in playing my guitar through this amp. It sounds very muddy and unclear, and with distortion there is hardly any noticable tone.

Reliability : 6
As for reliablility, I have never had the amp break down on me. However, the amp has deffinitly decreased in performance. i know it's only a practice amp, but when in coming from the marshal stable, I would've thought it'd last. It was fine new, but not too good anymore.

Customer Support : 2
never had to contact them

Overall Rating : 5
Don't be decieved by the name and the nice white badge. if you like to just practice with quiet clean tones, the amp is fine. but if you want to put some distortion through it, I'd look elsewhere. I'm now researching into the over-100 watt market for an amp that's gonna let me breathe, and possibly gig!

Dont know the year, got it in 98. I play classic rock, some metal, blues, and some reggae. It is a pretty basic amp so it can handle these styles OK, but not as well as a higher end amp. 1 chanel, 2 gain controls. I wish it had an effects loop and 2 chanels but for the price its not bad. Its got a headphone jack which works fine, and a cd player jack which ive never used. I use this for Home and small get to gethers, and its all the power i need for now.

Sound Quality : 7
Im using a MiM Std strat with 3 single coils, which suits me fine. THe amp gets a little hum when im on positions 1,3, and 5 but its not bad, and not the amps fault. Also, when the flouresent (sp?) lights are on, it hums a bit. The overdrives at about 2 o clock with no distortion, and the distortion is pretty good with gain 1 and 2 cranked, although i hope to get a metal zone pedal soon.

Reliability : 10
I can depend on this, its solid state so no tubes to worry about. As for giging? I dont really "gig" alot although if i did, i probably wouldnt use it because of its small size.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No Problems

Overall Rating : 8
Ive been playin for one and a half years, ive got a MIM strat, a crybaby wah and a zoom 505. If it were stolen or lost, i would probably buy a bigger amp with 2 chanels and an FX loop. I love its small size and decent sounds for the price. Overall, go for it if your just starting out!

*I don't know what year the amp was made it. Looks 80's to me.
*Versatility? It sounds good clean but can get a little dull at higher volumes. Its built-in distortion is very lacking though, but I use a MetalZone to take care of that.
*If it has two channels it fooled me, it doesn't have a switch, and no effects loops. It has a headphone jack, and it works well with the headphones.
*I wish it had channel switching, and the distortion be a little more angry -- it's more 'mad cow' than 'raging bull'.
**Gets a 6 for being slightly above average.

Sound Quality : 6
*I use a Lyon with single-coil.
*It doesn't really suit my style (without some help on the distortion side); which is art-metal (The kind of unimaginative bastards who leave the phaser on THE ENTIRE SONG).
*The amp is very loud when you want it to be. Slight clipping when clean though, but with its distortion it's louder.
*The amp can make as many sounds as a clean-to-slightly-more-than-overdrive plus low-contour-high controls can make. Plus reverb, but as you distort the reverb seems to get less noticeable.
*Again, the distortion isn't anything to write home about. I haven't even told my cat about it and she's normally the first to know about these things.
**Another six. It feels a tad muddy to me at any setting, and the distortion sucks.

Reliability : 8
*Because of it's smallness I haven't gigged with it. As a backup? Maybe if there was absolutely no other choice.
*It's never broken down, and it shows good workmanship. The rubber handle is a little ripped, but I've been carrying it from home to home for so long I can imagine why.
**An 8. I've had it for quite a while and it's working without a problem.

Customer Support : No Opinion
*Nope.

Overall Rating : 5
*Been playing for at least 8 years. I also own a Carvin Hot-Rodded somethingorother, which I like more but is too loud for home use.
*Stolen? Lost? I'd like to buy something newer with better distortion if it came to that.
*I love the psuedo-retro look it has about it. I hate the distortion.
*I wish it had a channel-switch.
**All in all, a good amp for clean people. Filthy people like me would be better off with a similar model with more distortion.
**Overall a 5. It's a nice amp but not for me, and the grade reflects that.

This amp has two gain knobs.By combining both, you can get some very interesting sounds. It has a nice reverb and the basic controls:treble bass, contour(mid),master volume.Line out,Cd in and headpnone in.
It's a 15W amp and the speaker size is 8''.

Sound Quality : 7
This .amp is not noisy, unless you crank both gain knobs.By using only gain 1 you can go from clean to moderate overdrive.Turning up the gain 2 you get a distortion with good sustain
I use Fender Strats(Lonestar,Deluxe Plus,American Standart(two-one of them with Texas Special PUs).
Overal sound is OK,but the sound is not very transparent. This little amp has a caracteristic sound( sort of midrange),and it stays there no matter what you do with the controls.
I think it sounds better distorted.I just wish it had a more transparent sound.Maybe it sounds better with Gibson style guitars.

Reliability : 10
I'm only using it at home,so I don't expect it to break easy.

What's that?I'm from Brasil.

If stolen or lost, mayde I'd go and by it again,so I can say:Hey look.I have a Marshall. But I plan to buy a Fender amp as soon
as I save some money, because I think it's better if all you play is the Blues using only Strat style guitars.

Ibanez RX with Powerhouse Pickups. Also use a CC Clark (blues sytle) sometimes which works good for grunge too.

It tends to vibrate when high gain and volume is used.
The clean channel does distort at high volumes.

The distortion on it can be used for grunge but I use DOD grunge dist. petal for a better effect.

Despite the limitiations I have said, it is pretty good for a practice amp or home use.

Reliability : 4
Not too reliable. The input has broken on me about 4 times. I do move around alot while playing and the extra stress on the input jack probably doesn't help, but this should not happen so easily as many players move around as they play.

Other than the input, it has been reliable. No other problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have had trouble finding authorized repair centers. I like to work on my own equipment and have not been able to find a place to order a part from.

1999 model, 1 channel with distortion and reverb, 1 input for guitar, 1 input for CD player or other aux (not line input), line output, headphone output, 15 Watts, 8Ohms speaker.
I have used it to play both hard rock and classical music and it seems to be perfect for both. Not a high-end amp but ideal to practice at home.

Sound Quality : 10
Works fine with most kinds of sound - it may take a bit for you to find the right sound you're looking for but it can probably do it. This amp hardly clips or distorts sound even on the loudest volume.
Distortion is adjustable (2nd gain, bass, treble, contour adjusts), can be set from clean sound to trash metal distortion.

Reliability : 9
This amp hasn't broken down since I bought it (a few months ago), and as most Marshalls, it seems to be very reliable.

Customer Support : 6
This amp came with a 3-month warranty which I guess is ok for this level of equipment. Inside the manual I found a lifleft with a local official dealer/tech support.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for almost 2 years now. I own a Ibanez Jem 555(Steve Vai's) guitar and this amp seems to be very good to play at home since I don't really need more power unless I wanted my neighbors calling the cops down here =c) I have no complaints about it - for the price I paid and its specifications, it meets all my expectations. It lacks a chorus effect but that's minor.

This small amp has reverb, CD play along facility, Distortion and Bass, treble and contour controls. Good for the price!

Sound Quality : 6
I've used this 15watter with a Epiphone335, Hohner HS Special and a
Fender Mexican Fat Strat. The Reverb's good and the volume is surprising considering the meagre 15w rating. I can't say it's a particularily clean sound though, but the distortion has good 'bluesy'
depth up until about halt way. I can't say I like the thrashy settings
being a blues player but i'm sure other's all think it's pretty good.
The only main quibble is, using the 335s neck pickup, the cab tends to vibrate under the bassy depth of it all.

Reliability : 7
Despite the contour switch cutting in and out on my one, it's never
blown up on me.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 7
It's a good amp for practising, especially with the Fender, but would I buy another? Maybe not, maybe so.

Ease of Use : 10
Anyone who thinks this amp is too complicated probably can't play guitar anyway. The control setup is extremely basic -- two gain knobs, contour, bass, treble, reverb and volume.

Sound Quality : 7
This amp sparkles clean, but on higher distortion levels it tends to get muddy, so expect the cabinet to fart and crumble a bit. Even so this amp blows away most other amps it's size (ehem . . Fender Frontman sucks ass) and the distotion itself isn't too bad, although I strongly recommend getting an external distortion device. I mostly use this amp for direct recording into my computer, which has worked really well. I'm using a SustainPunch modded Boss Metal Zone pedal for distortion and the sound is huge! When I'm playing out of the amp speaker my sound really loses a lot of power though. I plug the amp into my computer and the sound is fed into two 12'' kenwood stereo speakers. Since the speaker on this amp is only 10'' the sound gets really tight at higher ear piercing volumes, so you won't really get that nice wall of sound effect, but this IS considered a practice amp I guess. I wish I could afford a bigger amp . . . but since I can't this is the best in it's price range.

Reliability : 9
I woundn't gig with this amp since it's just too damn small. A ten inch single speaker is gonna sound like shit with the rest of your band. Sure this amp can get BRUTALLY loud, but once you turn it up that high it's gonna sound like a shrill piece of crap because of the small speaker. For home use though it seems very reliable. I haven't had a problem with it yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Hope I'll never have to deal with Marshall . . .

Overall Rating : 7
I play hard rock and punk mostly. I can get really great Helmet and Offspring sounds, but I can credit that to my dist. pedal and pickup (I use a Dimarzio Air Zone). If this amp were stolen or lost I'd probably get a bigger amp (really want a Mesa rectifier . . .) But overall this amp suits me for some home recording and it's a great value so I'll give it 7

This is a Marshall "Park Series" 15 watt solid state combo amp on the budget end of the price list. The catalogue describes it as follows; From light and sensitive to dark and aggressive the MG15RCD will provide you with many different sounds. Features: Twin gain controls Treble, Contour and Bass tone controls Built-in Reverb Headphone input Line out CD input which allows you to play along to your favourite CDs SIngle 8" speaker.
I'll add that it's very light and portable (measures about 15"x15". I haven't tried the CD input yet, or the line out (not likely I'll use the line out, as I have a stage/studio amp that does it all already). Also, first amp I ever saw that has the reverb springs inside the amp chassis with the rest of the components rather than at the bottom of the speaker box!

Sound Quality : 10
I have several different guitars, but the one I usually pick up is my '97 Collector's Edition Strat because it sounds so sweet. On that guitar, my style gravitates toward the Curtis Mayfield older R&B style that Jimi Hendrix "borrowed" so skillfuly on songs like Little Wing, Angel, Drifting, One Rainy Wish, etc. This amp has a really beautiful clean sound for that stuff - I'm surprised that a solid state amp can have this much tone! It will also wind up with some super metal distortion with the dual gains, although that's not what I bought it for. I just wanted a nice little portable amp that I can carry in one had easily with my guitar in the other when I go to visit a friend to work out a song, in his living room lets say, and something to practice with around the house that won't drive the neighbors insane when I work out a lick! That this amp sounds very good clean is much more impressing to me than it's chain-saw distortion abilities (yawn). It is also very capable of getting that early Vox sound - as a matter of fact, surprisingly, it can be VERY Vox-ish in tone. Volume-wise, I can't turn it up all the way at my place without becoming nervous that it's too loud for a neighbor (I live in an RV.). But the first time I used the amp, it was as a tune-up amp at an outdoors gig, and I got to test it's volume.. You know, I'll bet one could just about cut a gig with it in a very small room where the band has to play at low volumes. I was pleasantly surprised! (Mind you, I myself couldn't gig with it in my present situation - I play with a very loud bunch! For gigs and recording I use a Marshall 100 watt Triple Super Lead.)

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't know about reliability yet, too soon to say. I will say that I noticed there is no external fuse. I can only hope they saw fit to put one inside, just in case.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea really.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this little amp! It's perfect for what I bought it for, and that is as a low volume, small light-weight portable practice amp that also sounds as good as it is convenient. This one really does it! And at $114.00 US dollars! I'm thinking about buying another one as a gift for my friend who's a bigger Vox nut than me, and who is SUPER discriminating about his sound. He'll absolutely love it!
