this is some 90's version. This cab is pretty versatile. You have the option of having an open or closed back which is a good feature for a single twelve cab. What more can you ask for...?

well, sound is the other factor you can ask for and this thing does deliver. I have flextone 2 plus that i ran this with and this gave the amp MUCH more balls. It really improved the sound of the flextone. I even experimented with a couple tube amps and man do i want to go tube now. It really has a heart and soul to the sound, and this cabinet sounded good through those tube amps. The flextone is a combo with a open back and it does sound a little thin, but this sucker filled it up and balanced the sound. The cab has alot to do with the sound because its pretty thick and sturdy. It kinda looks like a mesa style with the black tolex. I also switched speakers and there were changes, but the stock sheffield still rocks.

peavey is known for straight up durability, even though more than half their products are lame or have been lame until up here recently in the late 90's and early 2000's. I use it at home and at gigs, really small portable thing that is loud and clean.

I love all styles of music, I have been playing for 15 years. I would buy again because its a great addition to a combo 212 or single 12. Better than lugging a friggin 412 cab around. So you have the potential of having a 312 rig that can almost compete with the fat and full 412. But its all on personal taste.

1990's version

After reviewing other comments here, I saw a 112SX in a pawn shop in excellent conditon that I thought I should check out. Perfect! What a product. I played my Fender Rock Pro 1000 for clean into a Celestion loaded Crate 4X12 cab which sounded good. Only problem is lugging around a 4X12 cab. This little monster provides all the bass and clarity needed in a small package. Then I tried the distortion on the Rock Pro through it to find it sounded really good as well. It handles the power and loudness of the Rock Pro as well which is a loud 100 watts. Once again for a single speaker in a cabinet its a worth while purchase. I tested this product with a Epiphone Les Paul Special loaded with an EMG 81 in the bridge and 85 in the neck.

I bought this 1x12 cab because I wanted something that would be as good as the Celestion cab I have, and when I saw it used in a music store I tried it out and thought it sounded great. It's not the newest one with the red triangle logo at the bottom. It's the one right before it.

The Sheffield speaker sounds comparable to or better than some of the Celestions I've heard. It's a nice tight sound with plenty of bass response. I guess it depends on what amp you're using, though. I like the closed-back it has and I think it adds to the punchy responsiveness...think closed subwoofer in your car instead of a ported one.

Reliability : 10
The cabinet seems very sturdy and I've had no problems with the handle, feet, or jack. I've always been impressed with Peavey's construction.

I've never dealt with Peavey's customer support, but I have used their Forum on their website and have gotten direct responses from some Peavey technicians.

I definitely like this speaker cab a lot. I don't need a 4x12 at all, and even a 2x12 is more than what I need. This is a great product. Let's put it this way...my friend has a Mesa Rectifier 4x12 cabinet for his Triaxis and G-Force. He couldn't fit his 4x12 in a car that he was riding in to go to a practice. I let him borrow my 112SX and he loved it. Even one of the guys he was playing with offered to buy it, but I wouldn't get rid of it.

I don't know exactly when it was made, but it's pretty new - 90s - the only 1x12 Peavey makes right now. I play classic rock/hard rock/British rock/blues/jazz mainly - this cab through my Laney GH50L 50 watt all-tube head sounds wonderful. Um, it's a cab, how many features could it possibly have? It has one 75 watt 12 inch Sheffield speaker, a closed black cabinet with a removable back, steel casters, a handle, that pretty much covers it. I use this cab at home and at band practice, it's got enough power until I can afford a 4x12 with Greenbacks...

Sound Quality : 7
I use a early 90s Ibanez EX series with stock humbuckers in the neck and bridge and a Custom Shop Fender Texas Special single coil in the middle. I also use a 1964 Harmony Jag-style retro looking guitar with DeArmond Goldtone pickups (strangely shaped brass and chrome single coils). The cab suits my needs decently. It is not noisy - what noise it does have comes from the Laney head or noisy single coils. It can make whatever sounds my Laney, stompboxes, and guitars feed it - it's ballsy enough to take powerful low end and the speaker doesn't make any unwanted noise. Nice sound for a 1x12 - I'll give it a 7 because it simply isn't an alnico packed 4x12.

Seems repliable enough, but I haven't had it long. Hasn't broken down yet. Seems sturdily built - my other Peavey combo is at least 20 y/o (I think) and it's doing fine (although it sounds like pure solid state crap, which it is). I trust Peavey's reliability - I'd gig without a backup. I can't really rate it yet though, seeing as how that rating would be more based on my other Peavey than this one.

I've been playing a bit over four years - I own the two aforementioned electric guitars (Ibanez and Harmony), a Washburn D-10 acoustic, a 60s Silvertone classical (being restored), and an old Ariana Spanish style classical. I use a Laney GH50L tube head (same series as Tony Iommi... I love this thing) that pushes this cab. I have a 70s or 80s (??) Peavey Rage (sounds much better than the transtube versions out now). I have a Danelectro overdrive pedal and a DOD FX7 digital effects processor (which I hate) - I'll be buying a wah soon and also hopefully a Gibson Firebird V reissue.
