2009 model. Three channels so it's versatile. I play good old fashioned hard rock and metal, it does those tones perfectly. No reverb, but I really don't use effects at all. The amp does fine without it. Plenty of power and all tube which is the most important thing. For what it's made to do it has all of the features it needs.

Im using a Musicman Van Halen guitar and a Charvel San Dimas with the amp. Suits my style perfectly. Not noisy at all for such a high gain amp. The clean channel is just that, clean and very warm and punchy. The crunch is awesome as is the lead channel. I think this is the best sounding amp peavey makes. It walks all over anything else they make. The gain it produces is just about perfect with no mud on the bottom and clear even order harmonics. Sustain is endless with more than enough gain available for any rock situation. It sounds better than anything Marshall or Mesa currently makes while sounding like a hyper modded older marshall back when Marshall made good amps. the el34 tubes sound great.

This is one of the best rock and metal amps that I have heard recently. It is perfect for high gain tones and is hot rodded right out of the box. It sounds incredible and needs nothing more, no effects needed with this one. If you want a bare bones three channel amp that just screams I would really check this amp out. Blows amps three x the price right off the stage. This will be a big hit for Peavey like the 5150 was. It actually sounds better than those amps. Forget having to spend a bunch of cash for killer tone, This one is it without breaking the bank.

I play mostly progressive to death metal and some clean / jazz styles; this amp is perfect for both; the clean channel is very warm but still has bite to it and the lead / rhythm channels are voiced for metal.
Wish it was midi compatible, but other than that its a solid 9.

This is where the amp is the best, out of all the options from Peavey this amp has the tightest and heaviest sound, every way better than a JSX, tighter than a 6505.

This amp is the XXX with new cosmetics and el34 tubes stock.Nothing else has changed on the amp which is a good thing if you like the XXX.The el34 tubes really help this amp, fills in the mids and takes out the boomy bass. The only thing peavey should have added was a presence control, this amp can get bright easily.

Sound can get ugly if you do not take time to dial in this amp.It has active tone controls on the gain channels so a little goes a long way.An eq pedal in the effects loop helps a lot. With that said you can get a lot of sounds from this amp.The change to el34 tubes took a lot of the fizz out of the amp.Peavey listened to the complaints about the XXX and corrected them on this version.

Never had to deal with them.I am sure they would would be responsive. You dont stay in business as long as Peavey has with poor customer support. But since I have never dealt with them I will give them an 8.

For the price to tone ratio it ranks up pretty high. You can get a lot out of this amp.Do not use peavey speakers with this amp.Get some good celestions and it will sound tons better.
