I don't know the exact production year but I would guess early-mid eighties. I do beleive that is versatile enough for all music styles due to the fact it has the 12" Scorpions loaded in it and I have heard everyone from country guitarists to rock guitarists use these speakers. It is a 4x12 cab, loaded with Scorpions with just one input jack on it. Very simple, maybe a little too simple but I like it that way. It is the 'B' cab version.

Sound Quality : 10
I run this cab with a 1972 Fender Bassman Head (loaded with JJ tubes) and use only Gibson guitars (Gibson Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio, Gibson Les Paul Studio [for drop A tuning] and a Gibson Les Paul Double Cut Faded). It has massive low end, now that could be the Bassman, but also lets the highs and mids shine through. I play modern hard rock and it works almost like it was suited perfectly for it, but at the same time I have gotten an awesome, and I hate to say this, country honk out of it as well as a beautiful blues overdrive when my drive pedal is on. I run a Radial Engineering Tonebone Classic Trimode and this cab in cunjunction with the amp makes the pedal sound like it is actually a second and third channel on the amp. When you palm mute it hits so hard that I almost drown everyone out, its pretty crazy. When your strings are dead it lets you know, because it sounds like you don't even need a bass when you hit the low strings ie. A or E. Dead strings don't sound nice though, all in all, a lot of this bass response I speak of could simply because of the Bassman but like I had stated, I still get that beautiful Fender shimmer and my mids and highs are just as prominent as the bass, the bass you can feel in your pants and chest though.

Reliability : 10
It's a Peavey and I have seen them falling apart and still work, but they are also sturdy and I have never had anything Peavey fall apart unless you beat the ever lovin sh*t out of it. I know it's over twenty years old and it still works like new.

Don't know, never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Never failed me or the previous 2 owners and sounds great, very dependable and I brings out some awesome qualities in my Fender Bassman. I am totally satisfied and so are the other members of my band, they can't beleive how huge my sound is and how searingly hot my solos are. All that from a banged up aol Peavey cab, I am happy.

This model is a late '80s style, intended as a matching companion for the MX-VTX Flight Case amp head.

This cabinet is extremely straightforward. Mono 4 Ohm with relay for extension cab, four 12" Scorpion speakers built into a Flight Case, complete with extremely thick plywood, metal guards on all edges in addition to metal corners, and a sturdy metal grill in front. You could probably drop it out of a moving vehicle without inflicting much noticable damage. The strength of this cab is only rivaled by its weight, I would venture to say around 60lbs.

This is a basic 4 x 12 with the added feature of the Flight Case construction.

I've used a variety of guitars with this cab, I primarily use humbuckers in the bridge position, usually Seymour Duncan JBs. I used this initially with the stock MX-VTX head, a hybrid solid-state preamp / tube power amp (four 6L6GC) providing 130 watts. My first impression was simply loud, loud, loud. At practice with my overpowering drummer, I didn't need the volume up any further than 3. The sound was very clear and warm, with tight, focused bass response and full mids. Describable as "Classic Rock" sounding, but capable of jazzy clean tones or metal crunch.

I then switch to using a Tube Works' RealTubeII preamp, driven by 12AX7s, directly into the power section of the MX-VTX. This reinforced that the sound of this cabinet is very dependant on the tone being fed to it. A full range of tones became possible, my favorite being a bright and full balanced modern rock tone with plenty of fuzz.

The speakers reproduce dynamic changes very well. They portray the tube tone very well, going from semi-clean gentle arpeggios, to throaty distortion when strummed full out. Overall, the tone reflects the time when this cab was built, but not in a negative respect. On the contrary, this sound is perfect for the current trend of stripping down rock music and focusing on dynamics and energy in musicianship.

Reliability : 10
The Flight Case seems unbreakable and the grill looks like it belongs on a Mack truck. I don't think I could break it if I tried.

Peavey is fantastic. Their phone customer support staff was helpful and knowledgable.

It's built like a tank and sounds great. It is exactly what a hard-rockin 4x12 should be. I would personally like to hear it with a 2x10 extension cab, as I am fond of the transient response of 10s.
