Dont know when it was made, bought it used. Same features as everyone else

Sound Quality : 10
Using it with An Ibanez RG320 and Gax70. The cab runs through a Peavey Ultra Plus head. The peavey cabs sound the best with Peavey heads. SOunds great for what I need it for.

Reliability : 10
Its built like all Peaveys stuff, solid. The metal grill is great, better than clothe on the front.

Customer Support : 10
Never dealt with them but there website is one of the best for help along with their forums.

Overall Rating : 9
This cab is just what I wanted to go with my Pevaey Ultra PLus head. If I would have seen a 5150 cab for the same price I may have got it instead. The two sound different and you have to let your ears be the judge, but this one was a steal for the price I got it.

Cab has 4x12's and is stereo wired if you should need that. Has casters for mobility and recessed handles are good. I wish they used bigger wheels though... gets 'stuck' at times in carpeting. Has metal lathe type protective grill. Speakers are front loaded and are not accessable from the rear.

Sound Quality : 5
I just purchased a brand new Peavey Triple X anp head and wanted a matching 4x12 bottom to run it through. I did not have much of an opportunity to try alot of different cabs as I live in somewhat of a remote area. I really was bouncing back and forth between a 412MS and a 5150 cab and after reading tons of reviews between them I seemed to see a slight preference for the 5150 but in my book-not enough to justify the the price increase just cuz EVH is attached to the product. So I opened my new 412MS and unplugged my old home-made 2x12 Emminence cab and fired it up. Yuk! The brittle buzzy tone was so bad that I truley thought there was a damaged speaker. After further review...that wasn't the case. I was sick... I made some calls and did further research on these Sheffield 1290s that are in here and found a couple of remarks by some veteran owners that these speakers need to be 'broke in'. Well I did notice that when I cranked them louder the buzzing or rattle sound disappears some and now that I have owned it for about a month, I must concede that the tone is improving some. Others have stated that it will take some time before it loosens up and gives better tone and I hope thats the case...

Reliability : 7
I haven't taken it out of my basement yet so I can't really say anything about durability... I have pushed it pretty hard several times and I haven't had the bad luck the previous reporter had that keeps blowing speakers!

Customer Support : 8
Peavey is well represented and I never had a real issue with them.

Overall Rating : 7
Have been playing since 1976 and have had many a amplifier. I never really heard of speakers needing to loosen up before, but there seems to be something to this speaker that makes it true for the tone is improving much better. By the way, the buzzing was only noticable when playing distorted tones. Clean was O.K. Don't know if I could call myself a 'Sheffield' fan and I wish Peavey would offer their cabs with proven well desired name brand speakers. This would probably drive the price up some, but would at least give the price option to those ears who thinks it makes a difference.

well... its just a 4x12 cab, not too much that can make this ugly (unlike the new twiggy cabs...)... thank god, i have one with a new peavey symbol, not the god awful zig-zaggy logo.

Sound Quality : 8
Sounds pretty good, at least with a classic 100 head. Handles good at higher volumes (even if some of the peavey amps dont), and has a nice bottom end.

Reliability : 10
Never had a problem with it.

Ive had this cab for 3 years, and ive never had a problem with it before. Hopefully, i never will.

Your basic stereo/mono optioned 4x12 speaker cab

Sound Quality : 1
In my experience with this, I don't know how anyone can like this cab. I initially bought it to go with an old marshall 100w that was sitiing in my closet for years that I finally had modded and decided to use. The reason for this is that I've been away from guitar playing for a number of years and got back into it and rehauled my old stuff plus indulged in getting new guitars and amps. I figured heck, speakers are speakers, so I got this new at a reduced price because of a shipping dink. I plug in and am assaulted with not much else besides a very harsh, brittle, raspy, icepick trebly, un-smooth breakup. After about an hour and a half, two speakers blow. Take it in for warranty. Again, after about a hours playing through it, two blow again. More warranty replacement. Service techs say this happens alot....... cheap speakers. For the third time, I play with it. (By this time I've purchased a DSL 100). The sound from either amps is a wee tad smoother but not by a long shot. I finally give in from the "what can I get for the cheapest amount of money" mentality. I do this with some purchases.....speakers had fallen into that category for me. So I'm sayin to myself..."screw this, I'm getting a Marshall cab." I bring it home, try out both amps with it and the difference was literally night and day. Out of those speakers came the most outrageous unbelievable hard rock/metal sounds that I couldn't believe it. Smooth and ballsy.
You know if you play your amp clean just at the point of distortion and then when you lean into the strings you should get a real nice tone? Well, with the peavey cab, I would get just a god-awful harsh farty tone. Extremely unpleasant sounding. Mere words cannot define how bad these speakers sound. It isn't even a matter of....."its rock and roll...just plug in and make noise." No, these speakers are hideous sounding. But there you go, same amps, same guitars and they all sing with a Marshall cab. Not in a million years with the peavey. Trust me, this is not just some guy coming on this board to trash peavey for no reason, I bought the thing. I had no prejudice to peavey products. This is the God's honest truth my experience with the 412 cab. I suppose that if your using a mostly high gain amp situation, where the speakers are simply outputing the pure raunch from the amp and your not pushing the speakers to breaking up, its possible they may pass muster. But in my situation where your pushing speakers, the peavey sound terrible. But even still, playing the amp at high gain setting still results in a noticably unpleasant harsh and brittleness. Its not hard to hear the difference, as I said...night and day.

Reliability : 1
As for reliability, I stated above I've totalled four blown speakers in just a matter of a few hours of use. And not even having the amp cranked up that high, either

Customer Support : No Opinion
No experience directly with Peavey. The speakers were replaced without question, so I guess thats a plus.

Overall Rating : 1
I suppose by now, if you've read this far, you can tell that I think the 412MS blows big time.

Slanted 412 speaker cab. You know the deal. 2 inputs. It's a friggin' speaker cab...not much to talk about. It has all I need and nothing I don't.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Laney VH100R tube head with this cab. I bought the cab when I bought the head. I took this cab over the laney cab and the marshall 1960. Sure, if I was a rich rock star, that I will someday be, I would have got a recto 412, but this is a CAB. it's your amp that shapes your tone.

Reliability : 10
Play in front of around 1000 people 6 times a month. I have a Peavey Special 212 for backup for my halfstack, but never a problem with the cab. Peavey makes solid, ugly shit. Cab isn't ugly though, it's purty.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them. This is a GOOD thing.

Overall Rating : 10
I took this $400 cab over the marshall 1960 ($600) and the Laney cab ($550). I truley love it. Even though it's just a cab, I think it's tight and punchy. Methinks the dude that gave this a low rating is a fool.

This 4x12 cabinet was purchased around 1989.This cabinet is versatile for the variety of styles that I play(I work in a top 40 band). This cabinet contains 4 Celestion G12K-85 speakers rated at 85 watts each. The cabinet power handling @ 16ohms is 340 watts.Impedance is 16ohms.Front cabinet grill has gold Peavey logo(which I took off,I did't want anybody to know what brand of cabinet I am using).Rear panel contains two jacks. The top jack is for amplifier input and the bottom jack is for daisy chaining(linking) to another cabinet. The only features that I wish this cabinet had was a mono to stereo switch like the newer Marshall cabinets.I have only used the daisy chain jack one time about 6 years ago when I was playing a top 40 gig in a major stadium(Concord Pavillion in northern California).I mainly use this cabinet on larger stages or when I want more punch in my sound. This cabinet has a high wattage rating and I use this with a 300 watt Fender 2150 power amp for my guitar rack.It is a very loud rig for large stages.

Sound Quality : 9
The Peavey 412MS 4x12 cabinet can handle clean and dirty tones very easily. It suits my musical styles very easily since I work in a top 40 band that plays a wide variety of music. The cabinet is not noisy. The noise that is created comes from my rack if there is a lot of lighting or a bad ground in the building.

Reliability : 10
I can depend on this 4x12 cabinet at any time.I have gigged without a backup and it has not blown up.340 watts is a lot of power to blow up a 4x12 cabinet.Considering that each speaker is rated at 85 watts each, this cabinet has lasted me for over 10 yrs. already.

Customer Support : 8
I have only had to order casters from the local Peavey dealer. The sales staff at the music store were helpful and provided me with what I needed.I installed the casters on the cabinet myself.I have never contacted the company for anything.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been working as a professional musician for about 10 yrs.I own quite a bit of gear.I have 2 Peavey 4x12 MS cabinets which I think are of higher quality and construction than the Marshall cabinets.I also have other various rack gear.Check out my reviews in Harmony Central user reviews. You will see my name underneath the review. If my cabinets were lost or stolen,I would try to replace them. This particular model now is manufactured with Sheffield speakers and not the Celestion G12K-85 speakers.I may go towards getting a Marshall since it has the mono to stereo capabilities.I'll make sure I get the 300 watt cabinet though.I wish this cabinet had the mono to stereo capablities like the Marshall cabinet.I could always custom wire this cabinet to fit my needs for stereo,if I really want to.I bought this cabinet because I liked the way it sounded to me in the store. That's not the best way to try things until you actually turn the amp up with the cabinet blazing in a rehearsal studio or onstage. That is the real way to test a cabinet, with the band in the room. I was able to buy another cabinet just like the one I have from an ex-bandmate who wanted to go acoustic.I bought his for about $300.00.This particular model of cabinet with the G12K -85 Celestion speakers can be found for under $300.00.It's quite a bargain for those in need of gear and are not too conscientious about brand name status. It's also very durable and well built. If you don't like the speakers, you can change the speakers in the cabinet. If you don't like the cabinet or the way it sounds, don't buy it.

4 Sheffield 1290 speakers, 16 ohm mono, 8 ohm stereo. Metal grill etc. About as versatile as any other cab available.

Sound Quality : 2
I have many guitars that I use, from Les Paul, Ibanez RG, Jems, Artist to Fender Strats. I own many amps also but this cab is being reviewed with the Peavey 5150 head. This cab has a "wow" effect when you first play thru it at the Peavey dealer. The lows are tight and big, the mids are crunchy and the highs are present. I couldn't believe the sound I was getting thru my 5150 head and this 412MS cab at the store, just incredible. I bought the cab thinking I found a dimond in the ruff concept and immediately put it to use in band practice.

We play anything from AC/DC, Van Halen to Creed and Metallica. Our other guitar player uses a stock 5150 COMBO. The very first thing I noticed about the 412MS in a band setup was these 1290 sheffields have a low sensitivity rating than what I'm used to. Meaning I had to crank the volume up even more than what I've had to before with other cabs. I'm surprised I didn't catch this when testing it out at the dealer. Not a big deal but was anoid by it.

Heres the real kicker. My guitar tone was totally lost in the mix when the band starts playing together. The 5150 combo guy was over powering me and his sound was cutting thru like a knife compared to mine. Ice pick highs, muddy, mushy low end, and NO mids at all. I do like the mid scoop sound you hear on old Metallica and Creed but any real musician knows in a live band enviroment mids are crucial. I cranked the mids hoping that this might correct things, but still sounded hidious. I really wanted to like this cab; after all I was telling the guys in the band how good this 412MS cab sounded and that I was going to buy it. Now I was feeling like a hill. The guys in the band have great respect for me and was a little scared to tell me that my tone was sucking bad. But I popped the question and ask them if it was just me or was my tone mushy. They agreed that there was definitely something different with my sound in a bad way. I give it a 9 at low volumes and a 1 at high volumes averageing out to be a 5 all together. BUT....who buys a 412 cab to play at low volumes? So I give it a 2

Reliability : No Opinion

Customer Support : 10
I've talked to James Brown the designer of the 5150 numerous times and he always answers my emails and returns my phone messages. Great guy also.

Overall Rating : 2
To bad because this would have been a very good value considering the price I paid. I would not recommend this cab at all. Try a 5150 cab and see if that will suit you. I'm personally not a fan of the 5150 cab, but it is a huge step above the 412MS. I mainly use a Marshall 1960BV with Vintage 30's.

The Peavey 412MS is a rugged slant cabinet with 4 12" sheffield 1290 speakers. It has a closed back that pumps out tremendous bass.
I love this thing! I shopped around for a long time, and the first day I heard this cab, I bought it. I play through a Peavey Supreme
head 100W, it's the best match for the cab.

The 412MS is perfect for my style, punk, metal and anything rock oriented. It has a very natural clean tone too, but the distortion is were it really kicks! Excellent!

This cabinet is huge, very thick frame. I don't worry about it
physically breaking, it will last longer than my hearing does.

I've never dealt directly with Peavey, I'd probably just congratulate
them.

I'd buy it again if it was lost or stolen. I simply like everything about the cabinet, it's awesome.

Plugged my bass right in....I must say that for a 2 ohm guitar cab this little jewel can handle a truck load and keep on asking for more...very impressive..

Plugged up to a Gallien Krueger 400 RB series head, and a Ibanez Sound Gear bass strung thick...sounds come out true to tone and can handle everything I have to dish out in the Industrial/death metal, and funk-ing around a bit...great cabinet to push what I like to play...and i like to play it rough

So far so good...
