Well, what kind of features can a cabinet have? 4X12 sheffield speakers, 300 watts mono at 8 ohms, 150 watts, per side stereo at 16 ohms. I love the fact that it can handle more than the standard 100 watts. It seems pretty rugged, steel grill cover. Considering this is just a cabinet, it can't have all that many features, but since it handles the watts, and sounds so damned good, i'll give it a high rating.

In all honesty, this is the best sounding 4X12 that i've ever played. I had never played anything with sheffields before. Apparently they're great. This cabinet has some of the most awesome bass response. Anything you plug into it sounds thick as hell. The 5150 sounds 100 times better through this instead of the 5150 cabinets.

I honestly don't see how you could break it. It's constructed wonderfully. It has a steel grill cover. It seems pretty rugged.

Peavey has a pretty good online forum, they've always seemed to be helpful. I've never really dealt with any warranty work with them though.

As i said before, this is the best 4X12 cabinet that i've ever played. It's bass response is awesome, and it's pretty clear. It seems to bring out the natural harmonics and sustain of an amp. They're also cheap! Around $450. Kicks marshall's ass. Damn celestons. I hate those things. Too easy to distort. I love the sheffields, they sound awesome. The cabinet is also voiced perfectly. Needless to say, i love them.

4x12 cab with sheffield speakers. 300 watts mono @ 8 ohms - 150 watts (per side) stereo @ 16 ohms .. mines a slant version. nice handles on sides. fixed casters. the cab its self IS partical board but it is allso VERY VERY VERY THICK.. so im not worried about that. im sure this was either made in 99 or 2000. standard 4x12 features. built very well. im giving this a ten for the ulta thick cab. i think it really makes a differance in the sound. plus it makes me feel a lot more secure about lugging a partical board cab around... but we shall see....

this cab is real quite versital. i bought this insted of the marshal 1960a cab. not just becouse it was cheaper. but IMO i sounded just as nice. the speaker are voiced differently but i find it just as versital, and for me that is a MUST. it gets a ten. i coulnt not believe i found a peavey that was a good (IMO) sounding as the 1960a

I bought this 412 cab used with a Peavey 5150 head. It's the Peavey 412 cab with the new Peavey logos, and it should have the little red triangle at the bottom center but for some reason whoever had it before me took it off. Anyways, it has a steel grille and 4 12" Peavey Sheffield speakers. It has stereo/mono switching and an input and an input/output (input in stereo, output in mono). It has a handling power of 300 watts. This is a really big cab and for some reason it seems heavier than the straight version (I have the slant cab).

I use this cab with a Peavey 5150 head in a rock/hard rock band and it gets all the sounds I need. It has a lot of bass, which I like cuz I wanted to get an amp with balls. This cab with the 5150 head is a great match. It's not noisy at all, but it tends to get a little background noise from the head. The other guitarist in my band uses the same cab in a straight version with his Peavey Supreme head and he doesn't get any background noise. This is a great cab for metal, rock, or punk. It's great with distortion.

I always depend on this cab every time I turn my amp on. It's the only 412 cab I currently own, even though I'm looking to buy the straight version to put under it so I can have an amp taller than me (my dream). The kid who had it before me didn't really neglect it, but he got some abuse into it. There's little pieces of black electrical tape here and there on it covering up rips in the tolex covering. I would like to buy another one of this same cab along with a straight version to have the full stack and keep this one at home so I can sell my Fender M-80 Chorus (I don't need it anymore). I haven't really beat this cab around, but it seems like it can take some falls out of the truck.

Never dealt with Peavey before. This with my 5150 head is my first Peavey amp. I'm accustomed to Fender combo amps. Warranty is gone probably because I know this cab is a few years old (1997?) and I bought it used.

I've been playing guitar on my own for about 3 years, in a band the last two. I've gone through a couple of amps, including a small Silvertone practice amp, a Fender Princeton 112 Plus, and a Fender M-80 Chorus. I currently own three guitars: an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, a Washburn BT-2, and a Silvertone SS-10 strat copy. I used to own an Ibanez RG-470, but I returned it 4 months after I bought it because stuff kept going wrong with it (fried pickups, bent tremelo). I've also owned a Jackson JS-20 Dinky, which pretty much fell apart, but I got $100 out of that. I compared this cab with Fenders, Marshalls, and Crates, and the sound of this cab through a lot of different amps completely blew me away. I love everything about it, looks, sound, etc. The only thing I don't like is how it's kinda beat up.

This cabinet is the straight model 4x12 loaded with the stock Sheffield 1200 speakers. It has a metal grill, and the old style Peavey logo. I has stereo/mono switching, and the one of the two inputs can be used as a "through" jack to connect a second cabinet in mono. Really it's a cab, so the features are standard.

I use the cabinet with a Marshall JCM2000 DSL50. It handles the bass that the Marshall puts out very well (even with the bass setting high and the bass boost on). With way too much bass it can be a little muddy although the amp seems to do this through most cabinets, just be careful if using with a Mesa or other bass loaded amplifier. The highs come out very clear, but a little piercing. This, however, is again probably due in part to the amp (DSL's kick out ridiculous amounts of treble). The mids are good - can't nit-pick anything about that. I have cranked my amp through this cabinet (although my amp sounds best at about half volume to my ears); no problems there. With 300 watt power handling the speakers hardly worked at all, even though the amp is incredibly loud for a 50-watter.

I have opened up the cabinet, and it seems like it will survive under normal conditions, but I wouldnt do a world tour with it. It is at least partially assembled with glue and staples. The speaker cones seem a little flimsy. On the other hand it was bought used and appears fairly old. It has survived this long. Also, one curious thing - when I cranked my amp through the cab, the speakers did not seem to handle the volume equally well. One speaker had a visibly greater cone travel than the others. But if you stick with 50 or 100 watts there shouldnt be a problem. Just a little inconsistancy between the speakers in the quality control department.

I have emailed them and got a response in several days, not as quick as other guitar-related companies I have dealt with, but not slow either. I was trying to order a new style logo for the cab. They wanted my serial number in order to give me the parts numbers. Not much of a problem, but why would they care if I was sticking their logos everywhere?

i like the sound overall, and for the price it is a good cabinet. I would not buy one new for the mid-$400 price range they go for new. I would invest that into a better quality used cabinet (I have seen many used Marshalls in the $400 range).

I recently bought this amp used from a guy who bought it new in 91'. I was originally part of a larger full stack with a bottom cab and head. This cab is good for every type of music. I play Rock/Metal through it and it sounds great. The only jacks are in the back which is good because when you are on stage the crowd doesn't see and loose cables. The two jacks are multifunctional, either one or both can be used as inputs, or if you have other cabs, one can be used for input and the other for linking to the other cab. No switching is necessary for this process. Some variations on this model include an ohms switch, but this particular one does not. Inside are four Celestion 12" 16 Ohm speakers all linked together. The top two are slanted at a slight angle, (2in/ft.) while the bottom two are perpendicular to the floor. There are no switches or other jacks to worry about. The only feature that is lacking (and might be included on other newer models) on this one is a steel grid to protect the speakers. It does have a strong nylon face but metal is always nice. Not much can go wrong with this cab. It is built very sturdy, with about 20 screws holding the back cover on. No cheap plywood is used, just solid boards. Built-in handles make for easy carrying wherever the four wheels cannot be used.

Since this is NOT an amplifier, it will only reflect how you play your guitar and what sounds your amp produces. I haven't needed to put many watts into it, but it can handle up to 300watts so there probably won't be any distortion even with your amp turned way up. I am not sure of the exact frequency response of the speakers, but from what I have heard from them, nothing is left out. The four speakers produce a very full bodied, powerful sound which many single speakers cannot provide.

The previous owner used it for about 8 years with no problems. It has never broken, except the Peavey logo on front was removed. There is nothing you can do short of throwing knives at the cones that will harm this cab. (Even then I doubt they would penetrate the nylon). It would be very hard to blow the speakers by accident, but even if one broke, you could just disconnect it from the rest. Again, not much can go wrong. No power is needed, just a send from your amp.

I play drums, and have been doing so for 5 years. I bought this amp for my band for use on stage since the other members amps only have single speakers. Since is has two inputs, each guitarist (2) can send to the cab and still have control over sound because their amp is close by, while the cab can be anywhere. I had been looking for a cab for some time but always thought they were too expensive. When I found this cab advertised for $175, I bought it the next day. I figured even thought I had not compared the sound quality and features with another brand, that I could not lose with this one. It is in practically brand-new condition, comparable to a new model costing almost $600. You probably won't find a deal like this again.

I run a Digitech GSP2101 through it. Origininally I ran a Peavey Supreme 160 head with it, and the cab performed wonderfully on both ends. Crisp and high, plenty of low rumbles, LOUD as hell. One of the best sounding cabs I've used.

Dependable as hell. I've had mine for about 7 years now, I've moved it all over the place, spilled beers on it, in it, on the speakers, banged it, dropped it, kicked it, everything. It's got some scratches, but it still sounds like the day I bought it. Solid as hell.

I've always ran Peavey amps until I got into digital effects. Their amps are great (although I have some reservations about the newer ones) but the old Bandits and Stereo Chorus' sound great, work great, and are easy to get good sounds out of. This cab has been with me through thick and thin, incorrect ohms, too much power, etc and has never faltered. I love it.

4x12 cabinet, slanted, mono/stereo switchable, closed back, Sheffeild drivers. Pretty standard.... no external patch panel to allow custom hook up combinations. It's huge, so don't even try to fit it in your car like I did. Even to this day, I'm not sure how I managed to stuff it in. It's on casters (thankfully!)

Loud! This is a very efficient cabinet. Most noteworthy is how crystaline the treble response is without being overly bright. Solid mids. Lacks a bit on the bass side for me (palm mutes). Very easy to get a rock sound. Metal will require some tweaking of your amp.

Don't look like it's going to collapse any time soon. The casters seem pretty sturdy initially. I haven't lugged it around with enough abuse to really test them. Plastic switch for mono/stereo, but I don't flick it that often. It will out live me!

I was pitting this amp against a Marshall 1936 which is a 2x12. The Marshall is certainly more portable and it did have a cripsy mid range that sounded good, but it lacked the crystaline treble this cab has. I don't know if I over paid or underpaid, but the store that I frequent is a really nice place and I usually get fantastic deals there. This cab along with my 5150 head is the end-all and be-all of amp setups!
