I'm currently using this amplifier in a modern rock setting (guitar) and it is a monster. I'm playing through various amp modeling devices and it can handle anything I can give it at a volume that will rip people's heads off. I also play keyboards and I was pleasantly surprised at how clean of a sound it can produce at elevated volume levels.

Like most items that are durable and well constructed, these fellers are extremely rare. I've had various amplifiers over the years and none have matched the power, durability, dependability, and overall performance of this amplifier.

I run 2 austin 400 stereo and the tone is matched with my boogie amp but with more body . the scopians have a lot of tone structure to the real clean sound with low to none breaking point at the bottom end or the highs. but with an added boost of body you cant get out of a closeed cab. but . if you push a pillow in the cab to clse it up and runit miked at a low volume it will play like four 10's

This has the most features of any amp that I have seen. It has separate acoustic and lead channels with great mide-frequency shift controls, a saturation control for tubetone, bright, thick and presence controls, etc. The 2-12" cast frame scorptions and the CDP horn combined with the 210 watts rms make this a monster for volume and tone!

The mid-freq shift and active EQs allow you to create nearly any tone you want. The horn adds a lot to the harmonics of acoustic guitars. The pre and post gain controls with the saturation and thickness controls provide great variations of sound through the tough Scorpions. The Peavey DDT compression circuit improves dynamics and headroom - with 210 rms watts, there is plenty of it!

The only problem that I have had with it is the reverb sounds strange, kind of weak. I doubt that it is supposed to be that way, but I like the effect.

I am trying to get to like the current breed of modeling amps. But, this Austin 400 is hard to beat. If it just had a way to save my favorite settings - oh well!

This amp was made in the mid 80's the insides say 1982-83, i personaly play harcore punk like i love to make up my own stuff and play it with the band, this amp is amyzing ofr acoustic sounds... its distortion is really dirty but i found a way of cleaning it up hehe my litle secret, god this amp would do for any style cuz its so damn loud! it has 2 main chanels, two acoutsic channels i use em for vocals, and a killer electric chanel, its got lots and lots of knobs the acoustic chanel have a high gain low gain and a pre- post volumes a crazy mid shifta low and a mid know like one on top of the other and presence its got a beutiful reverb that is shared with both chanels..... the electric chanel has the smae as the acoustic but is got high low mid presence and a mid boust. i use this amp everywhere gigs at home in my room jamming recording god its got balls! its 210 wats max 400 and it just pounds or it can be as quiet as a kitten. this amps pwoer is 2nd to none hell i traded a marshall for it!uhh its solid sate and on the back its got a few jacks for line out n stuff its got 2 12" scorpion free flow speakers and these crazy ass tweeters that are like killer horns but they make the sound so much beter
overall i give it a 10 cuyz gawd its got it all!

i use humbuckers on an epeiphone sg (the pickups are gibson) and at really loud volumes like around 8-9 it sounds a bit muddy but u just gotta turn down the low on it and bam its fine. i play punk and i think its almost perfect for it it could have more distortion but hey whos counting it sounds really good. uhh i play in halls n shit cuz thats all our town will give us for our ounk shows and it always sounded fine no problems at all u just have to get used to the old girl. sounds wise well it can be really nice and soft distortion or it can be really loud uhh the acoustic ion it and the clean chanel are bye far better then any fender no offence i just really think it can kick a fender clean channel's ass any day (if they had one) its really nice and clean, the reverb is 2nd to none crisp clear and beutiful. the clean chanel overdrives at aroun 8-9and if u have it that hight u deserve to go def cuz u will its really really really loud! my frined has a fender cab and a rockpro 100 head and my amp is louder.. it blew me away! the distortion gets a bit brutal when the volumes at around 7ish but at ice volumes like 1-6 its really clear and at 6 its reallllly loud and it stays cleaR! i give it a 9 cuz i could have a bit more distortion but other than that its great

It's a massive 210 watt combo with two 12's and a horn driver. It was built around 1983-1985. This beast of a pedal steel amp has two channels: and acoustic channel with two inputs (Hi and low gain) pre/post gain, and a 3 band EQ w/mid shift. The electric channel has pre/post gain a "saturation" control for distortion, and a 3 band EQ w/mid shift. Each channel has a bright switch, and the electric channel also has a thick switch. The channels share A master reverb circuit. On the back the amp has pre-amp in, pwr amp out, and efx loops for both channels. Many features and they're all good.

I used so many acoustics and electrics through this amp that I've lost count. The acoustic channel does a wonderful job of bringing Acoustic-Electrics to life, and the mid shift will help knock out feedback. I've also used the Acoustic channel for mics (vocal and instrument) before and it worked wonderfully. The electric channel's clean is wonderful but the gain is kinda crappy, so get some solid stompoxes for your distortion. One last note, it's a pedal steel amp so it was designed to be played clean and loud. you can turn it up really far before it'll distort on it's own, no lack of headroom.

would and have gigged without a backup. Dropped it once off my shoulder to the street (about 4-5 feet) and it worked great. Had it checked a few days later and there were no problems, not even loose components.

This amp was my first big amp, and it saw action in many of my gigs. when PA's failed, this amp's acoustic channel could handle the vocal mics in a small-medium club very well. I bought it used from a friend who had bought a PA and was getting into smaller amps. I eventually sold it after 3 years because I had stopped playing larger clubs and had begun to do more recording. This amp is pretty rare, I've only seen one other besides mine. If you need a LOUD amp and have some decent effects to toss in front of it, this amp will serve you very well. I loved it while I had it, and so did the rest of the band.

This amp was made sometime in the 80's. It's got 2 channels. One channel has 2 acoustic inputs(high gain and low gain) and a 3 band eq.
The other channel has one electric input with a 3 band eq, and a distortion option. It has 2 10" speakers and 210 Watts (peaks at 400).
It also has 2 tweeters that stick right out at you. This amp has a 3 switch peddal. One for the elec channel distortion, one to toggle the reverb, and one for acoustic mute. It has an effects loop. No headphone jack though. This solid state amp has enough power for gigs an shit. It's very good. It sounds better at low volumes, and still pretty good at high volumes, but with distortion, it gets dirtier the louder you turn it up. I play all styles from alternative to blues to jazz. For a better sound, go for a tube but for the price i got it at i coulnd't refuse.I've never had to turn the amp past 3 on the volume.I got a really good deal on it($275 canadian) because it was used. Good reverb.

I use humbucker pickups and it sounds great at lower volumes. It suits some of the music i play. When loud, the distortion gets kinda dirty, but if you got a good pedal, it will sound good(I use a DOD real american metal). The amp can make a good variety of sounds from bassy to twangy with lots of reaverb or none at all. The mid frequency on the eq is great because it has 2 knobs. one controls the amount of mid u want, and the other controls the frequency(like lower end mid or higher end) The clean channel gets distorted but not untill very high volumes.

I would use this thing on any gig with no back-up. Its old and never a problem. Even if I blew the speakers, they are scorpion, so u can just peplace the cone(it's one of very few amps that u can do that to).

I have been playin for 4 years. I own all sorts of pedals.
A crate practice amp, and an old 60's tube amp(very sweet).
If the peavy amp were stolen or lost, i'd definately buy another one if i could get it at the same price, or even more.I'd pay up to 500 canadian for this amp used or maybe more. I love this amp for its good sound and loudness. It doesn't compare with a tube amp, but no transistors do. Oh yeah this amps all big and heavy an shit, but i like it anywayz. This amp is pretty rare. I haven't seen another one like it. Oh well.k.bye.
