The Bandit is an 80 watt 2 channel solid state combo. I got mine with the cheapy plastic footswitch, but it works. I was impressed with the EQs for both channel, and the gain button adds, I think, 12db of attack. The resonance switch gives it that nice wood sound to it. Great value for the price.

Sound Quality : 7
I use an Epiphone Les Paul, with the basic pickups. However, I found this sound to be too muddy. Any single-coil pickup makes the clean channel shimmer, and the distortion keep its definition. The Distortion channel is extremely noisy, and I really think the built in distortion kind of sucks. I use a Boss pedal and a multi-effects, then this amp rawks.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had it for a few months, but the solid state design keeps me from having to replace tubes every other day. I've heard there are a few problems with the clean channel breaking-up, but maybe I'll get lucky.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The store I bought it from is an authorized Peavey dealer, and they rock!! Not only did they give me a great deal, they threw in some patch cords and picks and other stuff. I can't remember what the warranty is, but I think it was limited lifetime. Either way, I think I will like Peavey support.

Overall Rating : 10
I think if I ever got rid of it, I would buy the Peavey 5150, a tube head. I loved the sound of that, even thought it was much more expensive. It is definitely a better deal than Marshall (don't buy a Valvestate under 500 dollars, they're very limited). Peavey is a good amp, and with a modified Big Muff from SustainPunch (available at starla.org!), I can get that old Pumpkins sound I've wanted for so long. Yippee Skippee!!!

2 channels, cabinet resonator. 1 12" speaker 80 watts of power. New TA dynamics control. Mid cut on the drive chanel.

Sound Quality : 6
clean is well, solid state sort of clean with no real feal to it. Responds well at high volumes. The drive chanel suffers from to much treble making it very weedy. The distortion is best used on a low setting as high makes more noise than a fat bloke farting.

Reliability : No Opinion
never had any probs appart from when i wired a plug the wrong way and blew both the power trannies.

Customer Support : 10
Blew both the power transistors on it (totally my fault) and peavey had it back to me in a week having stripped down the entire amp and rebuilt it. ( they even replaced the sticker on the speaker )

Overall Rating : 7
good for a young giiging guitarist without much money. Kicks the marshall valvestates into touch. But i'd probably by a valve combo when i buy my next amp

Two footswitchable channels, each with 3-band eq, efx. loop, 1x12 80 watts solid state, with the transtube circuit. plenty of power for small venue gigs, especially with an extension cabinet. the reverb isn't too bad, but useable. i only wish the footswitch controlled the reverb and not the fx loop.

Sound Quality : 10
If you're looking for an amp that can do any kind of style of music, this is for you. I play a jackson ps-4 through a boss metal zone and danelectro chorous. The bandit can do anything from blues to hardcore/metal to classic rock. the clean channel is amazing, and although the lead channel is kind of dull, you can get a very decent heavy sound out of it. and for a cheap peavy combo, that's amazing.

Reliability : 4
in general peaveys are reliable, but I think i got a lemon. it's been in the shop all summer and i really am getting tired of hauling it to the store and back to get it fixed. I've only had it about a year and untill now it was flawless, if i got a brand new one i would definitely depend on it without a backup.

Customer Support : 1
It's been sent back three times for warranty repairs and it's still not fixed. i haven't had a working amp for 3 months.

Overall Rating : 9
If i forget about the quality problems i've had with it, i would have to give this great all around amp a high rating. it had killer sound and features for a great price. if you're in the market for a combo amp and you have to play shows with it, get this one.

2 channel clean/dirty with reverb, effects loop in front. in the back speaker out, mixer out, power amp in. The 100 watt power amp setting is great in club, bars. It has npo headphone jack so i went out and bought a smaller fender combo that does to practice quietly.
The effects loop sounds good but only has a blend button to alter it.

Sound Quality : 7
I used a gibson v with a semyour ducan distortion in the bridge, this seems to be a good set up for it. The distortion is warm, even almost fuzzy, i play a melvins-like sytle that fits this amp fairly well. I also use a Fender Big Apple Strat with in which sounds more clean. The amp starts to buzz as the volume increases.

Reliability : 8
Its fell off of the chair that it was sitting on a couple of times, but that is more my fault then the amps'. It hasn't broken down yet in the two year that i've had it. However, the knob tops do keep coming off, but who cares?

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to

Overall Rating : 8
I paid too much for it in my opinion, i could have bought something better for that price, but i'm satified, Peavey is a good brand if your wanting a step up from a basic practice amp like i did. I own other amp, but all bass stuff like Hartke. A chorus would be nice feature if they added it.

2 channels, FX loop, both foot swithable, loudness swith, Mid cut switch, gain boost switch, 3 band EQ on both channels with seperate volume controls... I must admit I preferred the old Bandit 112 Sheffield over the current model, it had active EQ one the gain channel which made for a tighter crunch. Although the newer model does have an extension cab out jack, and a 100 watt power rating.

Sound Quality : 7
Has a wide array of sounds...there is quite a shrill and skreeching though when its cranked past 4 or 5 on the distortion channel with the gain settings maxed...also at these volumes if the loudsness switch is on it gets kinda muddy and distorted on the low end. Over all it sounds pretty good

Reliability : 8
When I first got it I blew the speaker within the first 4 months, probably due to playing with the gain and volume at 10... I recomend getting the 112 extension cabinet...also a noise gate would be a good idea to kill the shrill on the high gain settings

Overall Rating : 8
I've had this amp going on 3 years, 1 year with the extension cab, I also owned the older model. For me this amp is a keeper, I'm planning on getting a high-end half stack (not a peavey) this summer and I intend to keep this amp... For the money, the features and the hundered watts, its a good deal

Well.....it has a lot of knobs and some features to play with but no really cool effects or anything that sets it apart from any other amp. The trans-tube thing is ok but it will never lose all of its solid state sound...I would have preferred some effect like chorus or delay. I also might just be me but I can never turn it loud enough without getting a high pitch whine of feedback. I guess this is OK because I play pop/metal but I could see how other people might be annoyed.

Sound Quality : 7
I have a B.C. Rich Virgin with Dimarzio Super Distortion pickups and when I am playing in my dorm room it sounds great. When playing a coffee shop or practicing with the band at a volume greater than 2 1/2 it squeels to much. To be honest I don't use the clean to much but when I do its fine.

Reliability : 5
It has never broken down for me, it may have for a previous user but how would I know? It's funny, my friend bought one of these new and has had no problem with it but I have. His tends to be a lot louder than mine cranked all the way up and has less whine. IN my opinion either its luck that you get a "good" one or it can't take the abuse of two owners.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them. I had no warranty.

Overall Rating : 7
I played on Fender's, Crates, Marshall and have owned many other amps in my day. This is not the best yet not the worst. THis amp is fine for a begginer trying to take the next step after there Peavy Rage or PARK g10-r but its just a step closer not the destination. I guess I got what I payed for.

The cool thing about the "Bandit" is that it has so many nobs and buttons, I could sit around all day experimenting with different sounds. Also, the ability to control the power is nice when you're trying to be quiet(Not that I care).

Sound Quality : 8
The sound is very wonderful in the clean state. The only problem I see is when you try to have very high sounding tone in distortion. It gives off this annoying hum in the back-ground. Another thing that I don't like is the distortion itself. My "Boss Metal Zone" kills that thin, crappy distortion that the amp has.

Reliability : 10
I don't really beat on it, but I've had it for about four months and have had no problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't needed it yet.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall, it is the best amp I have ever owned. But be warned, it is also the second amp I've ever owned.

This is the best amp for the money, hands down. The clean channel is crystal. The dirty channel has such a killer range I don't know where to begin. Between the pre & post gains, thrash button(gives it some extra fuzz), T-dynamics, resonance and gain buttons the sonic range seems endless. I have no need for the effects loop(has a foot switch for this and channel selection)but it is good to know it is there. I just plug in guitar to wah to high gain input. No other effects are needed to sound good. I have played clubs with this amp for about a year and a half now and have gotten nothing but powerful consistant performance. The only negative thing I might say about this amp is the tendency for some feedback when you crank it over 3.(which is normally not necessary) I attach a Peavy 212M cabinet to the external speaker jack in the back (8 ohms or more required) and get double the volume. I have used this combination outdoors without reinforcement! If I didn't have such a loud drummer I wouldn't need the extra cab, but you can feel safe in knowing that the Bandit gives you room to grow.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this amp, like i said with a Peavy 212 cabinet. The 3 sheffield speaker combination gives me a ton of range and power. I have a Charve/Jackson fornm the late 80's with a SD Distortion Trembucker in the bridge position. Sound and range is phenomenal.

Reliability : 10
Never a problem. Don't have a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't needed support.

Overall Rating : 10
If it was lost or stolen I would either by it again or upgrade to the Special 212 if I could get the same performance. Peavy's Transtube has me hooked. My singer used to laugh at my small setup, but know after lugging around has head and 412 cabinets he's looking for a smaller rig. If he wasn't such a Marshall zombie I bet he'd get a bandit!

This is a little bad assed 100 Watt amp that has some good distortion to it. I play alot of Led Zeppelin, Van Halen and stuff like that--this amp can handle those versatile styles. Sure, it feedbacks alot sometimes, but that's the price you pay. I prefer that low gain for my guitar's input. It really cuts down on some of the rather harsh distortion that just isn't my style. Sometimes it seems like this little bad boy can "overdistort" to my taste. I haven't really bought an effect yet because college is priority with my cash. I wish I could control the resonance like the 5150 amp does, instead, there's a button that you push and it lowers the sound of the tone nicely. I like a Eddie Van Halen/Jimmy Page type sound and although this little amp can't give me what I'm looking for, it's doing the job for right now. Nice and trebly, fat and mid-rangey. For just a practice amp, this amp could be used in a club to play with. 100W is alot of power and just because there's one 12 in this amp, doesn't mean a damn thing. This sucker is a nice buy for the price.

Sound Quality : 8
Right now, I'm using a little Squier Telecaster that I'm pretty attached to since I started playing guitar. It doesn't give me what I'm looking for but it plays really good through this amp. Since there are no humbuckers on it, it doesn't distort the way that it normally would. This amp is handling the style of music that I like as of right now, but there's always something better out there to get. I'm influenced by a blues/rock/jazz background and it sounds okay through this amp. In my room, which is pretty confined, it sounds okay with the post gain on 4 or 5. That gives me pretty good harmonic response, even on a 2-single coiled Tele. I play alot of trick guitar with harmonics and stuff like Eddie Van Halen does. I usually will set my tone like this: Low - 7, Mid - 3, High - 6, Pre-gain - 6. This gives me a nice response with my Telecaster. I haven't played around with the different sounds that the amp can make but it sounds alot like most of Peavey's amps of today--nice distortion and alot of it. This little bandit can be adjusted to sound like anyone from SRV on the clean channel to Eddie Van Halen on the Gain channel. The clean channel sounds great for me, especially with those settings above. Nice and acoustic, with the mid-rangey sound in there. The clean channel isn't nowhere as good as a Fender clean channel but it sounds great in proportion to the gain channel. Smooth transition--especially for a song like Led Zeppelin's, "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You." Good overall sound out of this little amp.

Reliability : 10
Very, very reliable. One thing about this "TransTube Technology" is that you can turn that knob that says "Power Amp" and you can hear the difference. For those of you that like really hard stuff like James Hetfield for example, crank that knob to about 10%, for me, I like a tube sound so I usually dial it all the way up to 100% for that warmth added to that bassey, mid-rangey sound that I dig. I've only owned the amp for about 4 or 5 months and it sounds as good as the day I bought it. It's a really reliable amplifier.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing guitar for a little over one year and I love it for what it is. I don't have much, because I'm in college, I just have my Telecaster, the Bandit and that's it. For what it's worth, I'm getting one hell of a bargain. If it were stolen, I wouldn't buy it again because I'm looking into buying a head and a cabinet. I'll probably buy a 5150 head or either a Marshall Super Lead Head. I love this amp for it's versatility for the price. What amp can you buy that will sound bluesy, Jazzy, Hard Rock, Rock, Ballad-Type music, etc? I don't know of too many that can handle all of these categories well, but for the price, this Peavey Bandit is the best buy in my opinion. I hate that it overdrives too much sometimes. I can turn up the Pre-gain and stum some chords and add a lick here and there and you can't hear the little licks because the highs, lows and mids drown each other out. The amp overdistorts. It could be pre-made to be compressed a little bit more than it is because the Threshold is way out of range. I went to buy this amp and I wanted this one most because of the versatility and price. I could have bought a Marshall, but to me, a Marshall without tubes just don't cut it. It's not the same. I know how much of a hassle tubes can be also. I didn't have that much money and to buy an amp that's Solid-State and sounds Tube-like all together in one without the hassle of changing tubes, that's what did it for me--I bought it. I wish I could have bought the Special 212 because of the fact that it's 200W and two 12's are in there. Chorus built in would be nice on a Special also, like alot of those Crates. To close this crap, for those of you who like an amp to sound like alot of different players that you may like or you're trying to fine your own, unique tone like I'm doing, but don't have the budget, get a Bandit--I'm telling ya, it's worth it.

It is a good amp, it has all the features that I wanted but there is still room for improvement. It's got80 W, 2 Channels, killer distortion (for what I use it for), and a good 'clean' sound. The guy I bought it from told me he wished he hadn't sold it, and I don't blame him.

Sound Quality : 8
I ussually use it with a Les Paul style guitar with Gibson Humbuckers put in. Sounds good for classic rock and alternative and metal (is there anything else?) The only thing I'm not too crazy about is how it REALLY amplifies 'string talk'.

Reliability : 9
It's never given any problems, and I'm pretty abusive.

I've been playing on and off for about 3 or four years, and am currently in a jazz band. There's a chance we may play a cruise soon and the Bandit is coming with me. I owned a Crate before this (it was smaller) and the difference is amazing. One of the things I appreciate most is the +/- switch near the power switch (I can't remember it's name), when you have pianos, basses, and mics running from the same power strip it really eliminates the buzz caused by the other amps.
