I mostly use this amp for thrash metal (a lot like older Metallica and Megadeth)and it's perfect for me. The distortion is just right when weverything is turned and pushed correctly. It's one kick ass amp I'll probably own for the rest of my life. It has two channels, clean and distortion. It somes with a footswitch (brand new) so you can switch back and forth between those without having to use a metal pedal, instead. It has an effects loop and also can serve as a head for a cabinet system (yes, I've tries this and it kicks ass!) It has normal EQ for both channels, and some added buttons that boost or cut certain frequencies for added effect. It also had really nice reverb. I use this amp both for home use and in the studio. It's plenty loud, but I don't recommend turning it up past 4 or so because the speaker rattles (oops!). For a solid-state amp, it sure sounds like a tube. VERRRRRRY NICE!

Like I said earlier, this amp is perfect for thrash metal, and I've tried it on other styles, too. It works well with classic rock and blues, too. I suppose you could use it for... (yech) <<grunge>> music but who would want to waste such a cool amp on something like that? There's hardly any hum on channel 2 (with the pre gain all the way up, too!) The ditortion is beyond cool and it's great for both rhythm and solos. If anyone wants my amp settings, feel free to mail me. I (mainly) use a Jackson PS-4 electric on the bridge humbucker.

This amp is great for anyone needing an inexpensive 'live' amp. It soundsgreat with the styles that I play, which ranges from folk to rock to metal. It has a clean channel and a lead channel with separate eq's and a footswitch to toggle between them. It also allows for an effects loop, which can also be toggled by the footswitch. The only feature I wish it had is to be able to mix the clean and lead channels (both play at same time, I believe some older peaveys have this). The bandit uses the "transtube" technology, solid state emulating a tube sound. A second cabinet can be added on to create a pseudo-stack.

It suits my music great. Most of my band's originals are between classic rock and modern college rock. I use a Les Paul Custom (humbuckers) and it sounds great, but I've played strats (single coil) through it and they sound good too. It's a little noisy, especially on the lead channel, but it is really only noticeable at very low volumes. The clean sounds great at any volume (if your ears can stand it), and the lead channel rivals my lead guitarist's 5150 stack. The bandit uses "transtube" technology, which is solid state emulating the tube sound. I say it sounds better than regular solid state, but it really doesn't achieve the tube sound. But I still love it. On a small stage, it's loud enough to carry over drums, bass and a 5150 stack. On a larger stage, it has a kick ass sound when mic-ed (which is often overlooked).

I've only had this amp for about 5 months, but when I first got it, it just died in the middle of the first gig I used it in. I turned it off and it came back and I finished the gig. It had been heating up during practice too. I returned it to the dealer and got a new one that hasn't given me a problem since. I carry it around in my trunk every weekend for gigs and jams, and it's survived my driving! I have never had to use the backup amp. But my experience with the first one keeps me wary.

I have not had to deal with Peavey directly, but I believe the warranty lasts a year. There are Peavey dealers everywhere who can service the amp if needed (around the Pheonix (Arizona) area, at least).

I would definitely buy it again. I love it's sound, it's easy to carry around, and if some moron spills beer all over it during a gig, it didn't cost $2000 anyway. It's an awesome 'live' amp, volume-wise, sound-wise, and cost-wise. Marshalls and Mesa Boogies are not worth the money until you get to about $1500. My $320 Bandit is better than a $1000 Marshall any day, they're both solid state anyway!

I love this amp. It's got two channels, channel switching with a footswitch that comes standard or with a small button on the console of the amp, and an effects loop. If the lead channel isn't enough for you with the pre-gain peaked out (trust me, cranking the post can be too much depending on where you're playing, it's 80W rms) you can hit the gain button to add yet more crunch to the sound, or hit the thrash button which scoops out the mid some. When I play usually it's in a rather large space, probably 30' ny 40, with high ceilings. I've never turned teh clean up past 5, or the post gain on the lead channel past 4.5 or so, and I've never had a problem hearing myself over my drummer.

I'm using a Strat Special with this amp, and it gets some great (and very diverse) sounds. It's kinda noisy in the lead channel, but the clean is always crystal clear. I've played everything from classic rock to metal to pseudo-counrty through it, and the amp sounds right at home in whatever style. I normally play with a chorus on the effects loop (which can be bypassed by a click of the remote switch) and a wah between the guitar and amp, and the amp handles the wah (a straight Vox wah) perfectly. Only real gripe here is in the tube effects. I know it's solid state, and it's hard to get a good simulation of a tube amp, but this one's simulation isn't all that great.

I've had this amp about a year now, and I've only ever had one problem. At one jam, the amp just stopped working. I don't know what happened, but I turned it off then on again and it worked fine. I would (and have already) use it on a gig without a backup.

I would most definitely buy this amp again. It was a great deal when I got it (huge sale at a local music store) and I love the sounds I can get out of it, as well as the plain reliability of the amp. In fact, the only thing that would make me reconsider this is finding a real tube amp, of comparable size, in the same price range.

Two channels...I like. Love the footswitch that comes standard. This amp can do everything, really. I lived and loved the distortion this thing gets until I got my Muff, but even now I use it alot when my band is jamming. The Muff just is too harsh sometimes. The clean sounds full. I can hear myself over the drums. Extremely versatile.

It's really noisy when you get close to it, but I like that. To me, its a plus. The thing feeds back like crazy. I love that. Picks up radio stations with the distortion cranked. Clean channel never distorts. Makes a Strat sound great. The distortion can be played with any style of music. Sounds great with a wah.

80 Watts, two channels, reverb, channel switching, effects loop, pre-amp out, 1 12" Sheffield speaker... Background on why I chose this amp... I needed a quick and dirty set-up... Something I could put on an amp stand and play... I use my effects unit for my sound...I wanted a loud clean amp that would not change the tone that my effects unit was creating...I had been doing mostly studio playing and wanted to take that sound out on the road. And I wanted an amp that would not get lost under the drums... I use the low gain input on channel one... I did have to turn the bass way up... My studio sounds were a bit too bright for this amp/cabinet... I can hear my guitar over my drum kit at modest volume settings...ususally never exceeding 4... FYI: I use a ZOOM 9030 unit to feed the low gain input... Always wish it was lighter, especially at 2:00 am

It recreates the sound I want...Loud or quiet with little influence from the amps distortion...I am using it basically as a power-amp/monitor for my on-stage sound... I don't like the built in distortion...I did try it... As for Guitars, I use a KRAMER strat-style guitar... Single coils in the neck and middle positions and one Humbucker in the bridge position, the Humbucker has coil splitting as well... Once again the Guitar is just a basic utility ax...Once you get past the hang-ups of Les Pauls and Marshall stacks, you'll find, IF YOU CAN PLAY, you usually can make anything sound pretty decent... The combination of the BANDIT, KRAMER, And ZOOM works fine for me...

Yes I would buy it again...It was 'used' and it still looked like new... I priced new units...$300+...I picked it up for $150.00... The kid I bought it from gave up the guitar... I knew what I needed and some kind of Peavey was going to fit the bill...This was just luck...

This is a very versatile solid-state combo amp and probably the best amp you can buy brand new in the $400 price range. It has a very good distortion tone and a great clean tone as well. The distortion, however, does lose some of its punch when turned way up. It also has a nice reverb built in which can add something to your sound. It had just the sound I was looking for and was very affordable. I think it beats the hell out of some more expensive amps. It's 100 watts and is very powerful but sounds great at low volumes. It has one 12" speaker that sounds great. I would have preferred two speakers, but I'll be getting a speaker cabinet for it eventually. It also has an effects loop which works very well and a footswitch to control channel switching and and to turn the effects plugged into the effects loop on and off. I love this amp because it has a good basic sound, is relatively inexpensive, and is very expandable. It is a Transtube model and has a T-dynamics control to make it sound more solid-state or more tube. There's also a presence and a resonance control, which simulates a larger speaker cabinet. Overall, this amp is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great overall sound. I plan to use mine for many years to come!

It has a great sound, both clean and distorted at all volumes. The distortion channel dose have quite a bit of hum, however, but not really that bad. I'm getting a Boss NS-2 Noise Supressor which will clean up the unwanted noise. I know these can be expensive, but I found one in perfect condition for $29. Overall, though, with a little experimentation, you can get a wide variety of sounds out of it.

I've only had it for 6 days, but I have had no problems with it. From what I've heard, they're pretty dependable. I would definitely trust it on a gig without a backup. It's solid-state so it's pretty reliable.

I would just like to say that this is a great amp for many playing styles and I would recommend it to players of all levels. I tried it a against a Fender Peformer 1000 and a Fender Stage 112. I find it to be a lot more versatile. The distortion sounds a lot more natural and you can turn it up a lot louder without getting that really annoying unwanted feedback. I would definitely buy it again.

Absolutely live and die by the distortion sound I get on this. Has a nice grungy sound without being too much metal too it. There is a hum in the speaker, especially with high reverb. If you don't have trained ears, don't worry about it. With the setings, both clean and distortion can be widely varied.

If I was in the same situation when I bought this amp, I would buy it again in a flash. So reliable, I plan on sticking with the Peavey line for my next amp. If I could have a bigger, quieter amp with the same distortion sound I would buy it in a heartbeat. If you need an amp for your first band, buy this amp!

Well, my bandit has most of the features that I need for most any sound, like reverb, dual channels with footswitch for both, inputs and outputs for stuff, though no headphone jack (I think you can use the preamp out for that though). It's pretty good, though could be better.

My kinda alternative grunge thing is not truly well suited by the amp but it does have some ok distortion with cool feedback and stuff. one really bad thing is that it makes noise...lots. the distortion channel sounds like bad reception on the radio, and the reverb buzzes badly, but if you can try to ignore that, it does sound decent with the right settings (i have all features on the distrtion channel jacked up to the max for decent sound)

The price for 80 watts RMS through a 12" sheffield 1230 just put me over the edge on this one...it'd never been played before I got it, and it's not old either, so it was definetly the best choice there for the money. I'd definetly go for it again, being a complete beginner, without much money for an amp that had to blast (yup, does that well, but isn't quite enough for something like a gym by the way)
