Bandit 112 has 2 channels with foot switch included. Effects loop too. No head phone jack though. I use my Bandit for jamming in the basement of my college dorm. When cranked up to about 7 or 8, it is loud enough to compete with our drummer. oh yeah, it has reverb too.

Sound Quality : 8
I like to play a real havy distoreted tone which I find the Bandit does oustandingly. The clean is good to. Fairly noisey but not too bad. Clean channel doesn't fart at high volumes. Distortion is brutal with the correct settings. I love the sound I get out of my Bandit. Yet I have tried others that didn't sound as good. Test a couple before buying.

Reliability : 4
Up until the time I started jamming with my band with the Bandit, it's reliability was outstanding. HOWEVER, revently (after about 4 years of use) is has start to cutout a lot. THis is VERY annoying. Right in the middle of a song we'll be jamming along a very high volumes and all of a sudden it will just cut out to about 1/4 volume and then fade to 0.

Overall Rating : 6
I don't think that I would buy it again. I've been playing for 9 years now and simple need a bigger amp. I love the heavly distorted tone I get. I've never been able to find an equal tone on either pedal or amp. I give it a 6 ratin cause it cuts out during jam sessions, but if it weren't for that, I'd give it a 9.

The Peavey Bandit 112 is a reasonably good beginner to intermediate guitarist's amp. Being solid state means that it is affordable (mine cost approx $720 Australian 2 years ago), however the features are very basic and it can often be hard to coax a good tone out of the amp. There is no effect's loop and there isn't even channel switching or a headphone jack. Playing with a Gibson Les Paul Standard (which totally outclasses the amp), I found that on the clean channel the bass had to be turned way low (close to zero) or the bottom strings just thudded instead of ringing. The other channel (very primitively accessed by pushing a button) has got a good crunch but if you're looking for a marshall tone you'll be disappointed. From memory it is 60W rms which is plenty for the bedroom enthusiast or pub rocker. I've never turned the clean up past 4. There is a 'bright' switch for the clean which sort of makes the clean sound slightly more redeemable but not much.

Sound Quality : 4
What's that hiss?? Yep the Peavy Bandit exudes noise. But not in the shop when you're testing. Give it maybe 2 months. This is a (relatively) cheap amp, so don't expect a great sound. If you test it at the shop and you can't tell the diff with a more expensive model, buy it. When I first got the amp my ears had a lot of catching up to do so a better amp would have been a little wasted on me. The cruch is good so that all those signature riffs (ie purple haze, sunshine of your love) sound cool if you're into that sound. It is not for the pro however. Often the guitar can get lost behind the noise and if you turn the noise down it sounds wimpy. The distortion won't chop for the heavy metal freaks. Not enough punch or attack. On the other hand, if you're into jazz or melodic stuff the solid state components provide that crisp, airy quality that grunge dudes would spit on. But if you're not a grunge dude (or dudette) the clean can have its moments. The sound quality also seems to be unaffected at higher volumes. The hiss I was referring to is generally present when not playing (no, it's not my guitar strings ringing). Don't ask me what causes it. Gremlins??

Reliability : 7
Quite reliable. Solid state so no worries about tubes. I've had it for 1-2 years with no major difficulties (not enough to warrant a service). I'd use it a gig without a backup cause I couldn't afford a backup (unless you count a 10W practise amp as a backup)

Overall Rating : 4
I don't love this amp. I don't hate it either. If I were used to good equipment though I'd rate this a donkey. I bought this amp because I could afford it and because I didn't know much better. The features are dismal, the sound is ordinary but it does make a sound. And if you're a beginner that's what amplifiers do,make sounds. There couldn't be that much more to it could there? I'm afraid so. I'm rating it a 4 for sentimental reasons.

I just got my bandit the other day, and I am really amazed with it, it has the peavey transtube system, and it really does sound like a tube amp . The distortion unit is very good, it comes with a footswitch too. It's also got an effects loop. Mine is 70 watts, plenty of power for me.

Sound Quality : 8
The clean channel is a little noisy at higher volumes, but the distortion is killer, it was what made me decide to buy the amp. The distortion is very versatile, and it can get that saturated fuzz sound too.

Reliability : No Opinion
I just got it so all I know is it works so far.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them, but it comes with a three year warranty

Overall Rating : 9
I would buy it again, it sounds just like a tube amp, but for less money, and no maintinence.
