Made in late 80's...two channel switchable with foot switch...effects loop...no headphone jack...no external speaker jack (my only complaint)...plenty of power for something the size of a breadbox...I play anything that sounds good and mostly use a strat and a Squier thinline

The clean channel is kind of warm a little and you can get a nice little bite out of it...love it... "almost tubie"...you can set the distortion channel as you like...I usually put the supersat around 3 which gives a nice bite for blues and very nice sustain...(over that I'll use a pedal through the clean channel)
I'm not going to get into a big long thing here...if you are on a tight budget (actually even if you're not) and you can get one of these in good condition....GET IT...I think you won't be sorry.
Oh Yeah....incredible reverb.

I've been playing about 35 years (not professionally)...I've had many different amps (many)...actually I have one of the newer Bandits, a Transtube 112...I figured if the old one sounded so good the new one would be better...WRONG!!! This little sucker sounds REALLY good, puts out amazing power for it's size and is built to last till forever...(you'll probably die before it does)
Oh...if you want a bit of a surprise...get an old Traynor YGM-3 (guitar mate reverb)...put a decent speaker in it and some good tubes...sit back and enjoy!

I think these were made in the 80's, which makes my one 27yrs old and still new. Would really like to use it one day just to hear the reverb which every seems to rave about, i dont even know what reverb is!! Personally i just like the look of it.

Dont know, will buy a guitar one day and let you know. The people i brought it off never used it either and they brought it brand new and put it in a closet, and now its in mine. What a lonely f..k..g existence, never heard it complain though, im sure if it does it will blow the doors clean off and the whole world will know!!

Never used it, but before i purchased, i took amp into local music store, they couldnt believe what they were looking at, an amp over 20yrs old and still brand new. "BUY IT" they said, so i did, and have i used it? No, where is it? In the closet, dont even know what it sounds like.

If all the other wraps are anything to go by, and im sure they are, then this amp will probably last till the end of time!! hopefully by then someone will have plugged it in and used it! Im just glad i brought it, cause its old and still brand new and it looks good in my closet!! cheers

Late 80's solid state, "mini-marshall".
Clean and dirty channels, push button "bright" selector, bass, mid, treble and presence controls, killer reverb.

Played garage band stuff for years, lately the Blues for which I use a Fender amp. Mainly play a `78 Ibanez Musician through it.
Not a noisy amp at all, but I never liked the distortion channel; gets too dirty too quick for me.
Best reverb ever built.

I've been playing for about thirty years, mostly garage bands or acoustic folky stuff in basements, restaraunts, coffee houses and small festival settings. The Bandit is a bigger, louder amp than I ever really needed, so I've never really used it a lot; it's always performed well when I have used it.
But I have never really liked the sound of this amp, especially the distortion channel, although, like I think I may have mentioned, it has without a doubt the best reverb unit I've ever played through. If you're looking for dependable, hard rockin', drummer taming amplifier this would be a good choice; it's more than I need though.
I was young and foolish when I bought this amp, and while I would be pretty upset if it were lost or stolen it would be mostly for sentimental reasons. I'd likely buy something that suits my playing needs better to replace it. But I'd miss that reverb....

I'm not sure what year this amp was made in but I bought it used for $350.00 Canadian in 1990. This amp is very versatile with a clean channel and an overdrive channel although the overdrive channel could be used in a clean sounding manner as well. The two channels can be switched with the floorswitch and the reverb can be turned off with the floorswitch as well. The overdrive is a fantastic sounding natural crunch with lots of sustain without losing note clarity. By increasing the gain it will go from a slight overdrive right to a heavy crunch that can be used with natural feedback. I like this feature because I hate distortion boxes, fuzz tones etc. and never use them. Been using this amp for 15 years playing classic rock in bars and never found the need for more power. It has all the volume you need for small to medium size rooms. The only feature I never use is the effects loop. This is a solid state amp with one 12 in. speaker and a line out on the back which I will explain how I use this in a following section.

I have used several different guitars over the years with this amp but mainly use a 76 Les Paul Custom, a B C Rich Mockingbird, and a Strings 'n Things Custom guitar which is much like a Strat. Depending on the club we are playing we do from Buddy Holly to Black Sabbath and Judas Priest material and most everything in between. With the Strings 'n Things Custom in the clean channel its very close to a Strat and a Fender twin sound, very bright and crisp. In the overdrive channel that guitar gives a nice growel and sounds good for Lynyrd Skynyrd type stuff. The Les Paul is perfect for ZZ Top style and the B C Rich is best for the heavy style with great sustain and a nice woody sound. The amp can be a bit noisy at times, especially with the single coil pickups. Its usually the lit signs in the bars that cause it though when the bars have a poorly grounded electrical system. The clean sound remains clean right up to 10 and the distortion can be as brutal as you want it by turning up the gain.

This amp has NEVER let me down and it has been used almost every weekend for 15 years. I don't have a backup and if it broke down I would get if fixed or buy another one ASAP !!! The only serviceing it has ever needed was to spray the pots with cleaner and that has only been twice in all that time. It gets used in smokey bars, outdoor gigs with varied temperatures and moisture as well as thrown around into trucks and bumped all over the place. Built like a brick.

Never needed any servicing so haven't been in contact with the company. I have 2 Peavey guitars and had a T-60 guitar that I regret selling to this day and they to are very good.

I've been playing about 45 years. I do play onstage in a stereo configuration by using the Bandit "dry", only with some reverb, and from the line out on the Bandit into a CE-2 or CE-5 chorus and a DM-3 analog delay which feeds an old Traynor 100 watt tube head and Fender 4 x 12 cabinet. In some smaller gigs I use a smaller Traynor TS-50 as the second amp. Between my guitar and the Bandit there is a Boss GE-7 with its volume slider up which I kick on during solos and a CS-3 compressor I use for some clean stuff. The band is just 3 piece, guitar, bass and drums so I need an added boost when doing leads. Its just a great overall amp, not too heavy, plenty of volume and versatility and I would buy another one in a second although they are getting harder and harder to find.

Bought used on eBay. Made probably around 1987. Solid state, high/low input jacks, Two channels, Bright button, Supersat and Postgain pots, 3 EQ knobs, Presence, Reverb, effects loop, pre-amp out, amp in, footswitch jack. LOADS-OF-POWER! This thing screams. The 12" Scorpion speaker really shouts. No headphone jack.

I use a simple Yamaha strat-copy with 3 single-coils and it sounds GREAT in both clean and lead modes. Reverb is really effective and good. A little hum due to single-coils, as with any other amp. I play a bit of everything, mostly melodic rock and all sounds I need are there. Very nice clean sound, from low to high frequencies. Excellent reverb using two gigantic springs. The "Bright" button and the Presence knob allow to stretch the highs and vary the available tones. I like the distortion sound, it can really scream.

I have been playing for (too) many years, I use it with a good old Yamaha SE203 strat copy and acoustic guitars using little pickups, and it sounds great. I would certainly try to find a similar box if this one got lost. Loads of power and features in a small format. The sound compares with other brands of the same category. Made in U.S.A. for a change! This thing has over 15 years so there are no headphone jack or CD input... A bit too loud to use as a practice amp, which could be a quality! Even at low volumes the sound is fine. Perfect for gigs, not too heavy to carry and fits well in a small car trunk. I compared it to the newer Ma....ll DFX series and prefer the Peavey sound. More bite, yet can give mellow sounds too. I love it!

very easy...it has very good features too, probably the best re-verb i've ever heard on an amp ever. it has decent distortion too, most people don't like it, but it fits me very well (hard rock early 90's stuff). 200 WATTS - damn thats a ton for an amp this big... you wouldn't beleive how loud it gets, i'd highly advise not putting it on 3 in a room with delicate glass. the only thing i don't care about is all the feedback it gets...you need to stand pretty far away from it when playing it loudly.

Made in the late 80's, Solo Series Bandit 75, the predecessor of the current TransTube Bandit. Old-school Peavey logo and bullet-proof resin covered cab. I already own a TT Bandit which I've been very happy with, so I took some time to compare the two amps side-by-side.
While the TT looks more high-tech than the 75, the actual features of the two amps are almost identical. 2 channels, clean and distortion, which are footswitchable and share the same EQ (lo-mid-hi), presence, and reverb controls. The effects loop is mounted on the front, with an additional pre-amp out and power-amp in back next to the footswitch jack. 1x12 heavy duty speaker.
The only features the TT has that the 75 lacks are an external speaker jack, and of course, the Transtube "power brake" which lets you reduce the power of the amp so the clean tone breaks up at lower volumes. I rarely use the power brake feature on my TT anyway, because I prefer the tone at full power.
Despite the lack of an external speaker jack, the 75 more than makes up for it with it's AWESOME GORGEOUS REVERB... Every review here has mentioned the high-quality spring reverb on this amp, so I know it's not just me. The reverb tank on the 75 is HUGE and sounds AMAZING!!!

The thing I like best about the 75 is its GORGEOUS REVERB!!! As I said, I already own a TT Bandit which I've been very happy with, and I really didn't expect the 75 to equal or surpass the Transtube in almost every respect.
Since the TT has the "power brake" feature, it can get usable distortions at lower volumes than the 75, but when you open them both up, the 75 holds its own. The key is to tweak the EQ and DON'T turn the gain ("saturation") past 6 or 7. The distortion on the 75 is very sweet and singing, and even though it doesn't say "TransTube", it sounds just as tubey as the TT, especially when cranked.
Where the 75 really shines is it's clean tone; I prefer it over the TT. I suspect this could just be from the different speaker, they are that close. While the TT might have a slight edge for distortion at bedroom volume, the 75 delivers at stage volume, the clean sounds have better definition and more character, and the reverb sounds like GOD!
Straight in with no effects, this is a great amp for Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country, and Fusion. Metalheads will probably prefer the TT, but Jazz Cats will definitely dig the 75.

I bought the 75 to give to a friend as a Christmas present, but the more I spend time with it, the more I think he's getting the Transtube (and I'm keeping the 75 for myself!) The 75 is nearly identical to the Transtube Bandit, but with a better clean sound and better reverb. With new TT Bandits selling for $350+, if you come across a Bandit 75, I highly recommend that you plug it in, give it a listen, and let your ears decide... I'll be keeping my eyes open for these in the future.

I'm not sure what year the amp was manufactured in, but it was most likey early to mid 90's. It works well for blues and has a great clean sound to it. I had to purchase the footswitch extra as I bought the amp used. It has some static in the pots, but nothing that a little can of air can't take care of. I've used this amp for live gigs, but it really shines in smaller rooms. Once it gets in larger areas, it doesn't keep up with a lot of the Fender amps I've played on. Overall, it's a good amp

I play on this amp with an Epiphone Les Paul and an Ibanez RG470XL and both sound great clean. The distortion could use some help, so I run my guitars through effects processors of various sorts. The reverb is definately excellent (that gets a 10) The clean channel does seem to distort at louder volumes, but the speaker most likely is getting a little too old anyway.

welp, all the usual jazz of a large practice/small stage amp. there's only low/mid/high and presence to change the tone, but that's all you need with this baby. the channel is muddy as !@#$ without the presence on 10, i swear.. so that's not the best feature of this amp at all. i only ever use it when i can't be bothered hooking an effect up. by far, the best thing about this amp is it's power for it's size and the KILLER reverb. man, i can not give the reverb enough props! if you ever see one, try it out just to hear that reverb..

mostly i'm using a strat plus with lace sensor pickups with this amp. the lace sensors are pretty muddy so i use a lot of presence. this contrast makes a great tone imo. i play anything from rythumy strumming with lots of attack to all out 10 billion fx pedal noises and i've never found a fault with any style played through it. it always handles low end pretty well, but at times i'll need to kill that presence when i play other guitars with it.

I'd use this amp for anything really. it's loud enough to use for gigs but sometimes i wish it could go a little lower for the neighbours sake when i'm using it at home. i'm pretty sure that the sound quality of this amp has lessened a -fraction- since i've owned it though, due to excessive explosion noises.. Before i had this amp i had a small ibanez which was hella cool (though only a practise amp) but that got burnt in a fire.. so out i went to find a new amp. i checked out my local pawn shop and low and behold, there was an amp that i had sold them before i had the ibanez. turns out when i sold them the peavey, one of the guys said " i'll have that thanks." and decided to keep the amp for himself rather than put it out in the store to be sold. turns out he ended up buying a fender, so he tried selling the peavey through the pawn shop. anyways.. i rocked up and boom!^# there it was. i grabbed it straight away because i remembered what a sweet amp it was with it's kick ass reverb and big sound. now every time i go back there the guy tells me how he don't like his fender and he wishes he had the peavey. the BIG finger to him me thinks :)
I've been playing for around 10 years now and this is only the 3rd amp i've owned. If it got brokened beyond repair, after much fury, i'd try to find another if i could, but i don't fancy my chances of it in the city i live in. my friend bought a much later model bandit and it sounds like shit compared to this this. it's pretty much noise free, is very easy to get a good tone out of and is sound compatible with everything i've ever plugged into it. If you see one of these cheap, grab it!%@ it's well worth the money. I love this amp more than all my guitars my drums and my piano put together! Again, the reverb is in a class of it's own and REALLY makes this amp stand out from the crowd. kicks ass, man.
