Features are very basic (it is a bass amp after all). Volume, 3 tone, pre and post gain, two input jacks (high and low). I'm not sure about the watts or speaker size. I don't own one, but I have used it many times.

Sound Quality : 9
As a bass amp....well, it's nothing to cry about if stolen. It's more of a practice amp. As a guitar amp...that's a different story. Since it's a bass amp, it can go pretty damn loud and stay clean. I use it with an Epiphone Dot Studio running through a Boss ME-50 and I use the Tube Screamer emulator on the ME-50...this is an AWESOME combination! It's loud and the only distortion is the one coming from the pedal and none from the speaker (this is a good thing). I ran an acoustic through it as well, it can handle the frequencies pretty well for a bass amp.

Reliability : 10
Solid as a rock! It's built Peavey though. This is not my amp. It belongs to the church I go to and it doesn't seem to be used very much. Looks somewhat neglected, but somehow it can manage to sound amazing.

Good amp. Better for guitar as opposed to bass. If you have effect pedals, then this is a good amp because it's clean. And you really don't need effects from the amp when you have pedals. I have also used the Roland Jazz Chorus but, it almost sound like one of those Line 6 amps. You can't use the Jazz Chorus with overdrive, sounds too digital. But effects work very well with this Basic 60.

Bought it used for a practice amp. Found it works real good for highs Bi-Amped off a TNT-160 amp, this really made the TNT sound off, saving most of it's power for bottom. Now they both travel and I like having a built in spare even though neither amp has failed me yet.

Sound Quality : 8
I use a standard P-Bass, go for clean and loud sound. Works good for me.

Both are built to be ran over by a truck. Never let me down.

Never had to deal with Customer support. I expect if I had a problem it could be fixed.

Overall Rating : 10
For anybody on a budget this combination is hard to beat. Both amps should be easy to find used and they are very compatible. Of course if money was not an issue I would get a big Marshall head and a couple of cabinets. Maybe when Eric Clapton gives me a call.

I bought this amp in late 2000 when upgrading from my lil' 10watt starter kit. This amp can play every style imaginable Death Metal, Rock,Punk,Techno and have used it for Soft Pop and it still kicks out enough juice to blow your ears out. The amp has duel imputs (hi) and (low) with an array of eq and volume controls. It has a lineout and separate headphone jack. I use this amp at band practice and live gigs, where i can still drown out the guitarists 150w Marshall Cab. This is a brillaint amp for the value you get. Could do with a slightly lighter frame and needs a speaker guard to stop you putting your foot into the speaker.

Sound Quality : 9
I use 1987 Aria Pro 2 and 2003 ESP B105 bass guitars with this amp. It can knock you down like a Freight Train with the blend of heavy metal our band plays. We used this amp in a 600 seater venue and it played brilliant, good for small to medium sixed clubs. This amp has a great spark for delivering high quality slap bass tones but can be a bit muffled using a passive bass.

Reliability : 10
This amp is built to withstand a bomb. You could leave it out in a mob of people and it wouldnt even dent. This amp is sturdy as a rock, and weighs about as much as one.

i had a 10 year warranty with the amp and havnt had to use it yet.

Ive ben playing for around 5 years now and much prefer this to my previous amp. If i lost this amp i would probably buy a 12x4 Cab to replace it, mainly because the shops around my home (Hampshire, UK) dont stock many american brands and only had the peavey line for 3-6 months.

Bought this amp new in the early 1990's. The amp has 2 inputs, pre and post gain, bass, mids, high, bright switch, presence, effects loop and headphone jack. 50 watts (solid state).

This amp has everything I'd use for a bass amp.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a 1973 Fender Musicmaster bass and a 1999 Fender Standard Precision Bass with this amp.
I play lots of styles of music (gospel, country, blues, classic rock, etc.)
I mainly use this amp for recording and practice but I have used it in live situations also.
I set the tone controls like this: bass 10, mids 5, highs 3, presence 0.
I've used this amp loud a few times and have turned the amps volume (pre and post) up to 10 and the speaker held up great ... the amp distorted at this volume but the amp and cabinet held together with no problems. When the amp is turned up all the way you almost get the bass sound on the Who's album "Live At Leeds".

Reliability : 10
Peavey amps are built like tanks ... they weigh a ton but are very road worthy.
I've had no problems with the amp.

This amp is great for any bass player that just needs a basic (decent) amp for practice, home use, recording and some small live settings.

This is a Peavey Basic 60 amp, and I bought it used so I'm not sure what year it was made. The other reviews cover the buttons and knobs that are on the front panel, so I won't repeat it. It does include a headphone jack for those who use them. I play mostly rock and it does okay in practice situations. I use this amp for practice, but I have used it for small gigs in the past. It's not loud enough to play large gigs unless you can mic it.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using a Warwick Streamer Standard with one soapbar pickup, and the Peavey gives it a nice, clear, growling tone, but nothing to write home about. It was very worth the money I paid for it though. It does have a little background noise, but not too much unless maybe you want to use it for a gig (I only used it for a small gig because that was the only amp I owned at the time). This is not a very versatile amp. It has the basic tone-shaping features and the bright button, so you can get your basic decent bass tone. Once again, this is a PRACTICE amp. One great thing about this amp is that it never distorts even at the highest volumes (which I've needed in some of my smaller, louder gigs). My Warwick does sound good through this amp, but it doesn't really have the deep bottom end I love.

Reliability : 10
This amp is SO heavy. What a pain in the butt to carry around. However, it is very solidly built and you could probably drop this off of a ten story building and plug right in and start playing. If you do use this amp on a gig, you can rely on it not breaking down. However, I wouldn't recommend using if for a gig unless it's small because this amp just isn't loud enough and it doesn't have the greatest tone anyway. However, this has been a VERY dependable practice amp and very worth the money.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with Peavey regarding this amp because it has never needed serviced.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing for 6+ years and I now own a Warwick Streamer Standard bass, Hartke 3500 head, a Hartke 4.5XL cab, and a Boss Bass Overdrive pedal (which sounds fine through this amp. In fact, it's the only distortion you'll ever get out of it). It this amp were stolen or lost I would not buy it again. I would invest in a better sounding, louder practice amp. Of course, if I was on a very tight budget I would consider buying this amp again. I love this amp's durability though. I didn't really compare this amp to others at the time I bought it because I was young and didn't have enough money to even consider anything else more expensive. One thing I would like to say is if you want to test how good your bass is, play it through this. This amp is only as good as the bass you plug into it. When I played my Warwick through it I was actually more impressed with the amp. I think more EQ buttons would be nice as well as maybe a better speaker, but this is quite old so I can't complain. This amp has been very good to me over the years. There are several good and not so good qualities, but for the money it is very hard to beat.

This amp is true to its name, "Basic", but in a good way. I do not use any bass effects really, and the beauty of this is that it sounds clean and clear even when pushing maximum output. This has the pre and post gain nobs, low, mid, high, & presence nob (along with a bright button). having said that it does not have many features, the sound is surprisingly flexible with a good range of tones and sounds able to be found through dial tweaking.

Sound Quality : 9
All of my basses (except my beginner bass) have active pickups, mostly J-style, although one is a double soap bar setup. This amp has served me well playing a wide range of styles from jazz, country- rock, and even for more heavier metal type bands. When you are playing with guitarists using equal or slightly more wattage you come through clear, but I have started to get drowned out playing against metal guitarists with big rigs. Works well for small clubs (and one guitarist of comparable sound level). Sound is almost always clean, and quiet when not playing.

Reliability : 10
This is a made-in-the USA tank. Hands down.

I have never had problems with this amp.

Overall Rating : 10
I love the consistency of this amp. Playing my jazz basses through this always sound great, warm with great tones. I do need to get something bigger to compete with my guitarist (who would blow me away if I gave him an inch) but for what this combo is, a solid 50 Watt amp, it is a terrific value. I actually play guitar through it as well, because it has a nice thick clean tone. Peavey is not really known for their bass amps, because as they increase in size they are compared to some incredible sounding big-name amp manufacturers, but at this level they kick ass.

a small version of the basic 12.a great pratice amp,50 watts are not enuogh power in a live application, a "fart in the wind" so to speak.i did use this amp in a gig with a good mic with great results.

Sound Quality : 8
I play a J style bass, and play mostly country & blues. The 60 has a wide range of tones for such a small amp.clean at most settings a bit distorted at volumes above 8-10,with the gain set the same.still has decent sound for the price!

Reliability : 10

I think this is a spin off of the basic 12 amp, maybe an older version it has most of the same features and is 50 watts not 60 as the name would imply. It's made in the USA so it has that in its favor over some of the other choices out there.

Sound Quality : 7
My current bass is a cheap Squire P-Bass Special, it works just fine and I can get a wide range of sounds with it and the amp they seem to work well together to produce the sounds I want. If you consider the other choice I tried (Hartke B60) this little amp is a much better deal and had better tone and was clean at all volume levels.

Reliability : 10
Well I got it used and it has seen lots of use before I got it with no problems! It should hold up well.

I have never dealt with the Peavey folks. But if you make a good product you should be able to deal with the few any problems your customers may have.

I have never liked Peavey untill I picked up a used Peavey PA head 4 years ago (I've had 3 other PA's over the last 25 years and one other Bass amp) but this is only my second Peavey product both seem able to the job I need done and were cheap the stuff is better than I thought and I have had all kinds of equipment over the last 30+ years. I mostly like Fender amps and currently have 3 of them all tube but the bass amps are not all that great for the money this will beat the small Fender Bass amps in price and quality.
