Mid 70's Peavey Century 120. Single channel, Vol,Bass,Treble,Mid,Presence,Distortion. Footswitch and Booster jacks on front. I bought this amp used and it didn't function. I bought 2 new TO-3's plugged them in and presto amp repaired. Listed as a bass amp but sounds better as a guitar amp.

This amp has a wonderful clean tone, very tight and punchy. The tone controls do an exceptional job. It is easy to dial in a good sound. The distortion is a dual diode clipper circuit that adds a little fuzz. Not great sounding on 10, but good enough to get a little grit. I tested this amp using single coils and through a 6-10 cab. It is deffinately 60 watts as rated. Very quiet, no hum, alittle hiss when the treble is on 10.

Very simple design and very user friendly to service. Most early Peavey products are built well with field repair in mind. I will use this amp out live because the old Peavey amps are dependable.

I have dealt with Peavey on several occaisions. In the 70's they were great. Fast repair with lifetime warranty. I called in 2000 to get some info on part number cross reference and never got an answer. I called about the classic 20 lack of tube retainers and they sent a retro fit device that rattled so bad I had to make my own. I called about tube substitution in their classic series and got no reply. Sooo, Good luck with Peavey now.

Been playing 30+ years. I have owned numerous amps and guitars. I bought this amp to fix and I wanted one back in 1975. I am suprised how good it sounds.
