1999 model. Perfect for what I play - classic rock, blues, country rock style, originals are a mix of all of the above.

Everyone has gone over the features. It has everything I need. Plenty of power. Plenty of tone. Some gripe about the shared tone controls. Not an issue for me. I use my guitar tone controls a lot more than most players do.

Sound Quality : 10
Like many others, I have installed JJ tubes (from Bob at www.eurotubes.com) in this amp. I described to Bob what tone I was after and the tubes he recommended absolutely nailed it!

The original Sovteks sounded good for crunchy chord work, but tended to be a bit too "grainy" for lead work. With the JJ's I get the smooth, rich, creamy sustained overdrive that I always hear in my head. Like Tom Scholz, Clapton's woman tone. Very sweet, fat and smooth. This is not a brutal distortion...it's a thick, syrupy overdrive that makes my Strat w/ Fralins sound unbelievably good.

I have recently played at low, moderate and high volumes. This amp does sound amazing at loud volumes, but it doesn't need to be turned way up to sound great. It always sounds great. I highly recommend talking to Bob at Eurotubes.com. Tell him what sound you're after and he will match a set of JJ tubes to help get you there.

Reliability : 10
I've had this amp for 3 years. No problems. Not one. I don't use a backup when I play, though I do carry an extra fuse and have the old tubes just in case.

One thing I'll mention here is that the tubes are very well protected on this amp by a metal cover with padding to protect each tube. Some of Peavey's other classic amps leave the tubes totally exposed...Classic 30, Delta Blues 210 & 115. The classic 50 is top notch as far as reliablity and durability.

I've been playing seriously for about 25 years now. I was thinking about selling this amp because I want something smaller and lighter. but I'll just wait until I have the money. This is a great looking and sounding amp that to my ear, simply outshines it's similarly priced competition - the Fender Deville series. More musical tone. Better overdrive. Nails classic rock, blues, country and I'm sure you can even play jazz thru this amp.

Sound Quality : 10
68 Gibson 335, Fender strat,Rosewood neck,lace sensors.
I play Blues and Classic rock. No extra noises or pops.
both channels are fine with footswitch.
I am totally blown away by this amp. I have struggled for years with searching for my "tone". My latest was the Fender Deville with 2x12's.I bought this amp used on the recommendation of a buddy who tried it at a store last Saturday. I read the reviews here and was impressed so I went down on Sunday with my 335 to try it out. Typical music store scene. Rappers trying mikes, shredders, etc.I felt good about it but hard to tell in that environment. Bought it anyway for $500. figured I could always sell it. Spent some time at my pals with my 335 and really got some great tones.I wasn't totally blown away but I figured I could work on it. Tonight I plugged in my Strat and I was foaming at the mouth!! What an amp! I have never been so totally amazed. The SRV tones are there, the rhythm sound is over the top. No pedals just switched channels.
I've got a gig in 2 weeks and I can't wait!
My Deville is up for sale now.

Been playing almost 25 years (wow wish I was better after all this time!)If this was stolen I'd buy another the next day.
Played my buddy's Pro Reverb. He just bought it for $1500 and this thing is right on par as far as tone goes. Blows away the Deville, Bassman reissue, Twin, and Cyber Twins I've played. And only $500.
After my gig I'll report back. It's an outdoor gig so we'll see how it projects.

Recently purchased this amp used, but I believe it's about 2 years old. I play mainly jazz, blues with some rock. It's versatile enough for me because I don't play heavy metal. The features are fine for me. I like to keep things simple anyway. I mainly play this thing at home. But as I said, I just bought it.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a strat, a 335 and a Washburn Nuno (all with Bill Lawrence pickups). I have to say this amp nails the sound I hear in my head. Very clean and chimey. On the clean channel, I usually have the bass at 8 or 9, treble at 5 or 6, presence at 8, mid at 8. I don't mess with the drive channel. I use pedals (ProCo Rat2, Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive) for the overdrive sound. But the clean channel is excellent. I haven't turned it up past 5, but it does not distort at that level. I'm not that crazy about the drive channel. But then again, I haven't had an opportunity to crank it either. I give the clean channel a 10.

Reliability : 8
I believe Peavey is pretty reliable. Haven't had this amp long enough. But I do have 2 other Peavey amps - Delta Blues and the Prowler. Prowler is currently in the shop, and they don't know what's wrong with it (or should I say, how to fix it). So it just depends.

Customer Support : 9
Peavey has always been great with me. I have no complaints.

Overall Rating : 10
Playing off and on for 38 years. I have 2 other Peavey amps - Delta Blues and the Prowler. They both sound excellent. If this one was lost or stolen, I would try to replace it. I love the tone. Some people have complained about the weight. It doesn't seem too heavy to me. It's heavy. But it's not back-breaking heavy.
I used to play Fender. I wouldn't go back to Fender after playing Peavey. It's all about tone.

The features have been well covered already. Mine has no effects loop, which is fine with me. A crybay wouldn't go there anyway. The pots (2 of them) have broken, but I don't baby the thing.

Sound Quality : 10
Down right some of the best tone in the world for the money. It sounds way more expensive than it was. Some people say the fan is noisey, but I don't hear it. VERY vintage SRV blues and sparklig clean tones make this thing rock. Distortion can get borderline metal, but that is not what this amp is for. I play 2 strats, an eighties ovation preacher, a samick 335 copy and a jackson Rhodes. All sound different. All sound great. By the way...I play through a tweed carvin nomad 33 as well and run together with an AB box and my 335...Tone heaven!

Reliability : 10
This amp is a 93 I think. I bought it used in 96, and it was kinda beat up. I retubd it 2 years ago and that is it. It has some great charecter tears.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt.

Overall Rating : 9
I would get another one asap. I may get another one even if I still have this one. I have a carvin nomad as well. They have similar sounds. It needs nothing. I have been a this for 30 years. I have owned all kinds.

I just wanted to give everybody a little tip on these amps. I'm sure I'm not the only guy who knows about this, but maybe I'm the only one who's said anything about it on here. Try plugging another cord or 1/4 inch stereo adapter into the lo gain input while playing your guitar through the hi gain or bright input. You will get a gain boost, NO JOKE. It may be enough to push the drive channel into metal territory for some people and it makes the clean channel a little hotter (louder). This worked with my classic 50 head that I had for a while and it worked on a couple combo's that I've played in stores. I don't think they've changed the design at all so give it a shot. Let me know if it still works

2 channels, 50 watts all tube

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Fender Deluxe Super Strat and an Epiphone Dot, i play blues and blues/rock and it suits it PERFECTLY. It is very noiseless...barely and feedback... it can have a warm, bright clean, and go to a heavy distortion for classic rock (not good for metal), with a nice bluesy overdrive in between. The clean channel seems to have plenty of head room

Reliability : 8
i've only had it for 4 hours, but this thing is built like a rock, solid as hell but since i havent had it for long, i'll give it an 8

never had to deal with them

I've been playing for 2 years, and i own a Peavey Bandit 112. If this were stolen, i would definitly get a new one. I love the clean channel on this bad boy, dont anything about it, maybe i could use a second EQ for the dirty channel, but i dont find that to be such a big deal at all. Compared to a Fender Hot Rod Deville, i like this A LOT better...the clean is unbelievably better on this. IF you looking for a loud, bluesy amp, get this, you'll never be happier

I am currently using the amp to play modern and some heavy rock.....The Lead channel has a wonderful smooth distortion that can really Crank when you open up the amp....I am running the amp with a 2x12 cab with vintage 30's in it and the Classic simply Rocks!..Sound's just as good or even better at times than my vintage marshall 4x12! I really love the Tone from this Peavey! The amazing thing is when you go the clean channel , it's so warm, full and crisp like a completley different amp.....

well, here's the hit or miss part. If you're into blues or classic rock, this is the perfect amp. However, I am not into classic rock or blues. I play origional modern rock kinda like smashing pumpkins meets incubus meets tool. I bought this amp when i ws in a less aggressive band, but now, i'm more in need of a recto.

Here's my Setup 79 Ibanez Artist > Boss GP 20 Amp Factory > Small Stone > Boss Octave > Ibanez Analog Delay > TS7 > Classic 50

CLEAN CHANNEL: This is where the amp kicks ass. Many times, the classic 50 gets compared to the fender Hot Rod DeVille, but other than the tweed, they're really not all that similar. This is an el84 powered amp (as opposed to fender 6l6), so it actually sounds a lot like a Vox ac30 or a Matchless (keyword = a lot). It's very chimy, and totaly cranks. There is a clean and master volume, so there's an insane ammount of headroom, but you can make it break up at relatively low volumes if you so choose. The reverb is great. If you're a blues player, then youll dig the sound. As of now, the clean chanel is the only channel I use. I use my Boss Amp Factory for high gain. THe clean channel is super quiet with pedals running in front. I give the clean channel a 9

Lead channel. Most people are going to either love or hate the lead channel. When I first bought this amp, i was in a very classic rock influenced band, with a second guitarist, and it was perfect. However, i'm now the only guitar player in more modern sounding band, and the gain is totaly not right for the situation. The gain channel is quite simmilar to a JCM 800, but with more midrange. Think Joe Walsh, AC/DC, maybe even Greenday. If you need more gain or a modern sound, you'll have to go for either an eq pedal, or a distortion stompbox. Aso, it doesn't sound good till the master is on about 4, but that's pretty typical of tube amps. For my needs, I give the lead chanel a 5.

Since the clean chanel is so good, and the lead channel is alright i'll give the overall rating an 8

Reliability : 9
Since i bought this used, i don't know how old it is, or if the tubes have ever been changed. I do know that this one is not brand new, because the control pannel and all the knob labels are facing the opposite direction (modeled after old fender bassmans). The only problem I've ever had was when a speaker jack went kaput on me. Other than that, this thing is a tank.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Bought used... who knows?

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for about 7 years. I bought this bad boy because i needed a very versatile, loud amp for around $500. That's exactly what it is. With the right pedals, you can get almost any sound you want. The classic 50 410 is plenty loud enough for unmiked practice or unmiked small club or outside gigs. For larger clubs with big PA systems, this thing can sound huge. I heard one at a local show at Hard Rock Live, and it was insane. Mine has wheels, so it's not a bitch to move around. I plan on keeping it when I get my Rectoverb halfstack, and a/b-ing for clean only. If you need a versatile do-everything amp for around $500-600, buy it... and a few pedals.
