400 Watts total... I think its 200 watts per side at 4 olms or 8?
These were made in a series from a-f. All nearly identical. I used mine as a PA for vocals. It was loud and had good reverb. 6 channels. Effects Loop. reverb, delay and two ten band eqs, yay Peavey.

Used it with a Shure and Beta 58 mic. For punk rock and rock and also an acoustic guitar through it at times. It was always clean, which is what you would want in a PA. Didn't color the sound and very simple to use. Not noisy, and dependable. I didn't like the wired monitor and main setup though... kind of un neccesary unless you're planning on adding a ton of speakers.

Yeah, I've seen Peaveys older than my grandma.

Yeah I'd buy it again. If it were stolen I'd be pissed. It was either this or a similar Yamaha system. I would have been happy with both but this was cheaper.

Bought the amp new in 1990, has been bulletproof ever since. I have used it extensively since. It has gigged in Germany, Belgium, France, The Bahamas and the US. 6 Channels, 9 band EQ. Plenty of power. I run two keyboards, and Vocals through this workhorse.

Decent sound-the EQ works fine. The reverb is acceptable, although I use an external unit.

It's been terrific- blew a fuse once.
If I have a complaint, it's the stupid knobs that Peavey use that are very fragile and break off just at the junction of the shaft and the pot. Just a lousy design.

Been playing since 67. have two other peaveys and a Kustom Tuck and Roll 150W Combo, and a Peavey XR400 for monitors. Run a variety of Keyboards-2 Kawai K4s thru Korg N1-R, Original Korg CX3 (no midi)circa 1978, Ensoniq ESQ, Yamaha Motif and a PSR 3000. The latter keyboard is supposedly a 'home' board-no way-it has become my #1 board....it kicks a** and the Motif is on it's way out.
I'd buy another Peavey if this was lost/stolen. Good gear-fair price and well made.
Hate? It's too bloody heavy! The carrying handle should be at the end, not the top.

The XR-600 Series 400B was made in 1978, I am looking for a wiring diagram for it. It has six channels with a nine band EQ. I did not have a chance to put it to the test. A friend gave it to me after leaving it out in the rain. He took it apart nd forgot how to put it back together. I don't know much but I can work on electronics some what. CAN YOU HELP ME!!!!!

I have a memphis guitar, cheap but with the DR strings it rocks . I don't know what the pickups are, it has a dule and two singles. The distortion I use comes from a rack mount unit, Rocktron MAXE I love it.

I think it is a kick --- amp if I can fix it. I have no idea if it has had this problem before.

I do not play as much as I like to. I have a full time job as a asst. manager at jiffy lube. I spend ten to eleven hours a day in the place. If it got stolen I would be hurting. I want to get this amplifier operating again.
