This amp has three main features....Tone,Tone and Tone. From the silver ceramic tube sockets to the Naylor speakers this amp is a quality piece of work. This thing will do anything I ever ask and more.I play everything from Blues to heavy Rock...it does them all not just good but GREAT.When I first saw these in the music store I thought no amp is worth that kind of money. Then after pluging in I was convinced. This is the only amp after over 20yrs of playing and going through numerious amps tring to find that certian tone...it will never be sold.I bought it years ago when Penn Instrument first started selling these(mine is serial #045) and not once has it ever failed to give good TONE.The only feature I wish it had was an alarm clock to remind me when to stop playing....its made me late to work more than once. The two channels are vey easy to setup and use since it has very few controls...Stage use changes are done in a snap. The reverb is the warmest Ive ever heard.I dont know if its the type he uses or how he has it wired....but it is the best hands down.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a 50th Anniversary Strat with Lindy Fralins or a Godin SD with the stock pickups.99% of the time I never use pedals with this amp because it doesnt need any.I used to be a pedal junkie before buying this amp...not anymore.Yes the tone is that good and the amp is that versitile.

Reliability : 10
It has been rock solid reliable. Not once has it ever let me down.I gigged with it weekly for 2yrs and it stood up to all of that abuse and still sounds and looks wonderful.

Customer Support : 10
The only time I had to call was because I needed to ask some questions about the differant speaker output jacks.Mr Penn himself answered the phone and was extremly helpful on the phone and told me if I have anymore questions do not hesitate to call back...He was also concerned on how well I liked the amp and did I understand all of the features of my model. The man takes great pride in his workmanship.

If this amp was stolen I would be on the phone the next day and ordering a new one.

This amplifier in combination with a good overdrive pedal is unbeatable. There is a switch that overides the tonal circuit, which really opens up the sound and allows great sounds.

Sound Quality : 10
This amp is used with a Heritage H575 with the high sensitive input which creates an awesome overdrive sound rich in harmonics.
With my G&L Lagacy / Lindy Fralin Pickups, the clean sound is better than any vintage Fender I've heard and I've played many.
This amp can sound like many different amps by utilizing the master volume with the preamp level. You have to experiment with many different combinations to realize how versitle this amp can be.

Reliability : 10
This amp is built like a tank. I would not worry about reliabilty.
I purchased it in July of 1996, never had a problem. I would definately use it without a backup.

Bill Penn can be easily contacted. He is very helpful and knowledgeable about amplifier designs and circuitry. He is a
very customer oriented person.

Single channel 40 watt combo with 2 12 inch Naylor speakers; totallly hand built, point to point wiring, solid pine cab with birch baffle board; really top notch all around. Accutronics reverb. No loop. Master volume that when turned all the way up is taken out of the circuit. Not a one-trick pony, because the master works so well. Uses 6L6 tubes, plus a tube rectifer. Built like a tank, and cosmetically is really a looker! Single channel is enough for me, works great with my Sparkle Drive and Compressor.

Sound Quality : 10
Sounds great with both my PRS McCarty and my Strat. I play mostly classic rock, some country and blues. Not notably noisy, there is a little but all great amps are a little noisy. This amp is more "Fender" than any thing else, but can get a bit of "Marshall", too.Starts to break up at about 4-5 with the PRS and master full up. The amp sounds huge, the Naylor speakers are some of the best out there.

Reliability : 10
The way this thing is built, I can't imagine a reliability problem. On his website, Bill Penn lists every thing used in the amp, from the steel the chassis is made from, to all electrical components. Also, he is very easy to communicate with, both by phone or email. When I found this amp (used) in a store I had never even heard of them. I found the website by reading a review on HarmonyCentral, then called him. He told me all I wanted to know, and seemed happy to do it. More people need to know about this man's products!

See above.

I haven't had 'em all, but I've had a bunch. This and the Vibro-King I had are the top of the heap, to me. I've been using a Reverend Hellhound for the last year, and I like it a lot; this Penn just sounds BIGGER. If it were stolen, relacing it would be tough, because finding another used one might be tough, and new they cost 2 grand, but I would try.
