Incredibly versatile bi-amped guitar head. Two bridgeable channels w/ bright/dark switches, assignable spring reverb, crazy stereo modulator, and an amazing distortion that has a sweepable frequency: even though it's solid state it really changes character when you boost your guitar's volume knob, in a gritty yet smooth way. (!?) It's got a switchable crossover and two amps in it. Fx loop, keyboard/guitar switch, all controllable with a digital footswitch! I thought it was a prototype because it looks totally, well, functional, and the hand written serial number is #003. Amazing design, great sounds. Not very loud, though.
Pawnshop special: $200 australian - couldn't believe my eyes or ears! A great find.

I've recently become the proud owner of a (used) Taurus Brain Stereo, circa 1990. It's not a lot to look at - it seems like it should be a rackmount, not a head. But man, is it versatile. Jazz, New Wave, Folk, Drone, Metal - it all sounds great through this. Being a jazz amp, the clean channel is phenominal, but the effects loop is top notch also. The distortion is very light, but this suits me fine - it's somewhat reminiscant of Billy Bragg to my ears. Good reverb, nice crazy modulator... twin channels which can be bridged with a switch, effects loop, headphone output... All the effects, plus channel switching can be controlled by the footswitch, which is a very handy addition. It's not the loudest amp out there, but that's not why I bought it - it's still more than powerful enough to irritate the neighbours. I'd love a tremolo built in, but that'd just be making a great amp better.

I'm playing this with a horrible Ibanez GRX70, with a Boss ce-3, rv-3 and mt-2 and a danelectro pastrami. The amp came with a 4x12 road box, which teams up well with the amp (though it does make it look rather small.) No hum or irritating crackle to report, no distortion when turned up high. I've yet to find a genre that doesnt sound good through this.

I haven't owned it long, but the guy i bought it from had been storing it for 5 years... It came to me in a rather sorry-looking state, but all the sound quality is brilliant. It's as solid as a rock, and heavy enough to match

Really good, especially for the price I paid. Pick one up - ignore the size, it's a great little thing.
