2 channel solid state 125 watts I think amp, low/high imp. input for each channel, effects loop, preamp out, low, mid, high, reverb, volume for each channel and a master volume, distortion. Mine is has a custom cabinet that is larger than most. The foot pedal can switch between channels and ad distortion if needed. I bought it because it looked so versatile.

For the jazz sound I give it a 9.5 which is why I bought it. The sound is the quinessentail jazz sound made popular by Joe pass. I keep the controls flat with the dark switch on and it sounds great, the reverb is good also. The preamp out is horrible and the distortion is also horrible, but thats not why I bought it. Ive never tried the effect loop. I plug my ibanez af200 into the high input and My tele goes through a sansamp triac then into the low input (switched to normal e.q. not dark) Talk about a versitile set up. I also own a mesa boogie nomad and I cant live with out its solo boost. I love the fact that I can set one channels volume above the other for a volume boost for solo's!

This is a great amp for the price. I love the sound of it, I was told to check out acoustic image amps, but right now I dont have 1000 bucks to upgrade my setup for right now Im happy with the sound. I would recommend this amp to anyone who plays jazz guitar.

My Amp was made in 1990. The amp has had a problem from the begining. 3 months after purchasing it the contorl of the power amp went out. ploytone was good in getting it repaired but it went again after the warranty ran out. And I now again have a unusable amp. If possible, I would like to get access to Polytone to discuss this matter. I realize the unit is older ,but the problem keeps manifesteriing itself. And with be not playing maybe once a moonth or less. I have a unreliable piece of equipment. I have a SUN Bass amp top that works as good as new and it is 15 years old and has had not problems to date. Any help in contacting Polytone would be appreciated. Thanks John Mittner 412-276-5567

I bought a Polytone Taurus I, 6 channel amp, new in June of 1999 & I can say that I absolutely love this amplifier. I have used a few different amplifiers such as Peavey & Crate and they do not come close to comparing with the Polytone in my opinion. First of all I must tell you that I am an accordionist, not a guitarist & I believe that makes a huge difference. The accordion is a true accoustic instrument. The Polytone amp that I have gives a "true" accoustic amplification of the sound of my instrument. I play a variety of music styles ie. tradition church or "Christian" music at Mass on Sunday, Polka, Waltz, Big Band, Light Rock, & 70's - 80's Rock. The amp does have enough power for me however, I am getting the attachment speaker cabinet so I can use it as a "mini PA" on gigs that do not require a full PA system.

My main axe is an Excelsior mod. 940 accordion. It has 3 treble pickups & 1 bass pickup & works very well. I do not use distortion or effects at all. I am interested in just amplification of the true sound of the instrument. This amp does a beautiful job!

I've been playing for 36 years. (a real veteran) I own several accordions. Yes, I would definately buy another Polytone if it were ever stolen.
