I bought this Art Deco TWN/8 about 20/25 years ago but I don't know what year it was built. However, the leather handle disintegrated whitin a year or two of purchase. I play blues around the house jammin w/CD player, and this litte pc. of Americana always puts a smile on my face. It's an old tube amp and it features 3 inputs, 2intrmnts/1mic. A volume, tone and tremolo. I can't tell a difference between any of the inputs but I never never liked the tremolo. If it had a few more watts, it it could have had a much longer production run.

I play three guitars thru this litle dynamo. An American Strat, Tele, and a G&L ASAT. The G&L smoke's the other two.... I play it on 10/10/0(tremolo) and control my overall vol. w/my guitar. However, the sound variety is a slave to the vol. On 10 it's a screamer, on 7 it's a creamer, so there's not much range there. The tube tone more than makes up for it's short comings. This little amp, when cranked, has a ton of sustain and twice it's weight in soul.

I only paid $20 for this amp, so it got pushed to the back burner when the handle broke. It sat for years, till a few years ago when dug it out of the archives. Recenty I left it on for a few days and cooked a preamp tube. As it turned out, I took it in to get fixed and a guy walked into the music store who had a 1961 6x4 tube, still in the original box. We plugged it in and the rest is history. Other than that tube, it's never falied. period. If I were only as reliable !!!!!

This Co. has been out of business for years, but, as a customer, I support all peoples how can get there hands on one of these jems. I'm told harp players have sold a relatives soul for these amps.

If it had more volume, I could compete w/my friends solid state crap on a level playing field. When I fried the pre-amp tube I was told I'd never find a replacement. Ever. Three minutes later my tube walked through the door. Shit happens ! It was a great value back when I bought it and I'd do it again if the price was right.

I believe this little gem came into existence around 1965. It's mighty ugly with its brown fake wood-tone and tan vinyl covering, and I love it, if only for that. I am a harmonica player and have found a slice of heaven in this little tube amp, it's ideal for blues and any other music that you want to put some amplified harp into. It has two eight inch speakers, two inputs: guitar (low) and voice/accordian (high), volume and tone controls, as well as reverb and tremolo. I would guess the wattage to be less than 10W, it's a good amp for small bars, I have used it without going through the PA and kept up with the rest of the band, that drummer was playing bundles and the band's volume was pretty controlled. I can use it as a stage monitor for louder gigs and mic it through the PA. It does have it's volume limitations in some cases, but it's small and easily transportable, so it's also great for practice/rehearsal and jams in the living room.

I use a Shure Green Bullet or an Astatic JT30 mic. The GB is wired hot, and gets a edgy, yet toneful sound with just enough distortion from the overdriven speakers. The JT30 has a warmer tone and breaks up the speakers as well, but without that ice pick in your ear edge. The tremolo is nice and swampy, that goes from fast to slow, and the reverb is plenty substantial enough for the harp. A buddy of mine plugged his Strat into it, but he wasn't too impressed. He likes his Fender Champ for a small amp.

It's crapped out twice on me, but I was home practicing, so it wasn't a bad situation. Blew a speaker the first time, had it reconed. The second time, a wire popped loose on the board, looked like a manufacturing defect, man, where was QC in '65? After the second break down, I found a good tube amp repair shop and the owner gave it a thorough once-over, fixed my trouble and tightened up everything else on it, since then, it's been solid.

I've been playing for 15 years, and could never track down a small amp to fit my needs and please my ear, but this is it. If this amp were lost or stolen, I'd miss it, there aren't many like it, but I try not to get to wrapped up in any one aspect of my sound other than how I play.
