I believe the amp was made around the early 90's, or maybe late 80's or maybe later, but the version I have has RG-100 "Classic" , and looks different from the more recent model, and the store I bought it from said it had been there for about 4 years in the back room. I believe it is different from the more recent model in that it has pre-amp tubes, whereas the new model is 100% solid-state. I use the amp to play extremely trebly, high gainy metal and hardcore, but in that band we have a need for crisp, clear cleans too, and it has never failed on either, in another band I am in, we use the overdrive channel alot as well, but in this case , a little more mid and bass are added to thicken the sound, and it still packs extreme punch, (a good thing). I went from playing a Laney Half-stack, which had a pretty weak overdrive channel, though very powerful, this amp kicked its ass in both. The most common complaint regarding tube amplifiers is that the tubes break easily when the amp is transported, but this amp has steel caps guarding the tubes so that they are totally unexposed. this is sort of a bad quality, because unless you have an extremely small screwdriver, it is very hard to get to amy part of the internal amp, because there is a backguard. Then again, if your amp is constantly moved, it helps protect it, I see it as a pro, because I have never had any speaker/internal problems. very tuff amp. I played a bar with it, and it was almost to loud on about 4 , so the amp is extremely powerful. Great for an outdoor metal festival we played in. The crowd was about 100 yds back and could here me fine. Again, I stress on the extreme power of the amp, and only on one occasion have i had to mic it. This was while a friend from another band played a football arena. micing it took care of that problem. It will work for basically whatever you need it for, exept i dont know about jazzy, or funky stuff due to the limited channels, but with some pedals even this could be done. Very versatile.

I use the amp with a Gibson SG and if i have to, an old peavy in which the pickups are about as hot as an iceberg. This still makes no real problems. It seems to be designed for metal and other heavy stuff, but is very versatile. I personally prefer my Marshall JCM 800 while playing in bars or closed in smaller areas, because I find the amps mor easy to control in a small environment. The amp was probably not designed to be played in closed in areas, but try it, and see for yourself. I find the soundrange very versatile on both overdrove and clean channels, and great if you just need a really raunchy raw distortion and perfect clean, but not the amp for the effects dude. 2 channels, 2 effects. ( other than a pretty crappy reverb ) I find the reverb as unnoticable when on 10 as it is on 0. But It has authentic spring created reverb, so you got to appreciate the attempt. Depending on where you have the HIGH LOW MID and GAIN nobs set on clean, from about 1 to 8 master clean volume is perfectly clear, never had it any louder than that. EXTREMELY BRUTAL KILLING DISTORTION.

I would probably use it in most gig situations, no matter what without a backup, but I had a bad experience when playing in a bar, so that is the one and only (I can think of) dime i wouldnt use this amp at agig. Otherwise very, dependably, NEVER ONE problem. Great sounding speakers, no broken tubes after 2 years of my use at countless gigs, and that was after it had been supposedly unused for about 4 yrs. , so dont expect any problems with the amp unless you basically TRY to hurt it. The amp has fallen down a flight of stairs face first and landed with acrack. I was certain the tubes would be broken. absolutely perfectly fine. never ever had a problem.

Ive been playing for 13 years, and have a Marshall JCM 800 halfstack, A Crate 40 watt practice amp, a very old Peavy butcher head, all tube, loud as hell, horrible sound, most powerful amp ive ever heard/seen)Digitech floorboard, countless pedals. I must say that overall this is the best amp ive ever owned. I really cant think of anything i hate. I love the looks of the amp ( very deceiving ) I love this amp, and if you can get ahold of one, please do yourself the favor and get it, like i said though other internet research i havent been able to find any thing on it, so It must be pretty old. Try to get it if you see it. Thanks. sXe. peace.

this amp can do it all. its got punch and sweet ring and everything you need for great tone no matter what the style. but if you plan on cranking out the bass on the amp then this isn't the amp for you. its the only downside but otherwise its perfect. its has 3 channels. clean and a gain 1 and 2. then there's an optional reverb and chorus channel. but the pedal input is limited to which one you use. i wish it had one main input for all the effects. this amp has a lot of power to go around so if your looking for major power buy it but if you need something for a bar then this might be wrong.

oh and its really heavy so if you buy it save some cash for some ply wood to make a dolly cause the weight is a pisser. other wise its no problem.
