Randall 32-8010

1990 36 watt solid state practice amp. Made in the U.S.A. This amp was manufactured by Randall for Realistic (Radio Shack). 2 input jacks, 1 mini input jack. Gain, overdrive, headphone jack, treble, midrange and bass controls. 10" Credence speaker. Samll, black tolex cabinet with carry handle.

Played a '69 Fender Tele with humbuckers and an Ibanez RG550L through this amp. Sound was ok, but seemed more suited to high gain settings rather than crisp cleans. Pretty loud, certainly more than adequate for a practice amp. Bought this amp second hand and I think it sat for a long time, controls had a lot of static and had to empty a can of contact cleaner to help clear things up.

This amp has not been very reliable. Amp keeps blowing 25 volt capacitors. Also has burned headphone transistor. Electronics appear to be pretty poor quality, it's basically crapped out for the last time with limited playoing. The only thing worth salvaging appears to be the 10" Credence speaker, which isn't voiced too badly.

I actually contacted Randall to see if they could help me identify the speaker in this amp. They replied promptly and advised this was manufactured prior to the new Randall ownership taking over, so the records are sketchy, but they confirmed it was a Credence speaker rated 30-35 watts.

An ok practice amp when it works, however seemed to react more like a small timebomb than a music instrument in my experience, lol. Rating of 7 for the Credence speaker, rating of 1 for the rest, overall = 4.
