This is my first tube head and I've done little comparison. I bought it cause it was cheap and sounded good. I played it and it seemed to leave a sweet taste on my tongue. The eq is like nothing I've used, the bass pot has like a boost near like seven. No reverb (i've heard reverb compromises circuitry) It maintains it's definition at high volumes, which I really like.
The faceplate under the knobs glows so you can see what you're selecting at night.

I use it with an Agile custom baritone with a JB-4 in the bridge. I play metal and man, I can swim in the sound it produces. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this amp and accidently spent more than I thought was rational on it.

It seems durable. Nobody's mentioned the fact that the knobs are all backlit. Like, the faceplate behind the knobs glows. Big rubber feet are cool. Cooling grates on top, and in the back. You can choose to run the tubes cooler with voltage changer in the back.

They emailed me a manual. That's all I asked for. I just emailed Randall and that's what they did, it's the BMF manual. they do not say what BMF stands for.

Overall, I am NOT disapointed with this amp. Unlike most of the guitars I buy, I'm not sitting here thinking, ok, it will do for now but SOMEDAY I'll have to get a Mesa Boogie. Nope. This amp is me. This amp is a work of art. It's mysterious and it has delicious tone for even the most heavy music to easy listening to jazz.

1994 all tube head with two channels clean and dirty....I use it in my bedroom and it has tons of power.....Has everything I need...because it's rare and unique it will soon draw a handsome price tag.......

The amp sounds similar to a Marshall with more gain stages...Clean distorts at higher volume and dirty is perfect at full gain settings...

Dependable, but with any tube amp time takes it's toll on components...

Zip...Company changed hands and they don't know anything about this amp! I was shocked that they dropped the ball with this, all companies worth doing business with have got to keep up with their discontiued line of gear......

30 year player, I'v had it all with few exceptions and I truely appreciate this amplifier...It's a little larger and heavier than I like but Randall did something right building this monster....Not quite as thick as the Mesa triple rec... but equal in it's own voice....Beats all stock Marshall products in my experience...I wish Randall was current on their discontinued gear!

I own two-I originally bought a half stack used for $750. (The kid that owned it previously thought he was getting a death metal stack, lol)I recently purchased a second head. Both are amazing as is the cabinet-Vintage 30's.The amp is simple-one clean channel, one distortion. All you need is one good clean sound and the rest can be doctored from there. I give it a 10 because it does what most amps dont-give out perfect tone.

I use two Gibson Les Pauls, two custom made guitars, a hollow body(on clean only, of course), a EMG loaded Washburn, and a Cort 7 string. I play what I would call rock at this point-Tool,Radiohead,Jeff Beck,Cure,Led Zepplin,Queen,Ravi Shankar,Fugazi,Wagner and the Mars Volta-put it all together and that is what kind of music I play. So, again it produces a nice clean tone and the gain is fine if you want to play AC/DC or max out all the gain stages (bad for tubes)but I use a Jekyll&Hyde pedal for my overdrive needs. There you go a four channel amp-amp's clean, Jekyll switch for overdrive,Hyde for the crunch, and both Jekyll&Hyde for the Jeff Beckian overkill. The tonal varieties are endless-it is up to you to search for the sounds-not to difficult to run this amp, say compared to a Line 6 modeler. This thing is thunderous clean a high volumes or low-which ever you want to go. Again the distortion-to my ears-is 70's power chord rock and starts to get a little shrill(i.e. highs really start to play a factor). Take the same premise that Jimi, Brian May, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck all used-use the amps tone and if you need more distortion then use a stomp box. If it was good for them it is good for you.

So far I have retubed the first head once since I purchased it in 1993. It has been a workhorse and looks like almost brand new still.(I have taken good care of it)The second head I recently purchased on eBay. Within the two months I have had it-and only turned it on to find out if it worked-it will need new preamp tubes. I think that is due to previous owner and not the reliability of this amp. Again it is a tube amp-if you throw it into the back of your 1982 Chevette with recklessness then, hey, it will break down at the gig.

Zilch-the current Randall company as run by the people who brought you Washburn give you the goose egg. Numerous tries produced-we don't make that model, that was before our time, did we make that?, and other famous hits of the three monkeys. Come guys you bought out the company-a little help please.

I have been playing for 12 years-at one point a literally had 16 amps in my basement. They ranged from Marshall half stacks, Sear Silvertone 2x12/head, Fender Bassman, Fender 75(highly underrated amp), Fender Twin, and Fender Bandmaster. Well this had to stop-and I came to the decision to go with the BMF based on original tone and simplistic use. I wouldn't have it any other way.I own a backup head, but if either were stolen or lost I would only replace them with the amp that gets MY tone-BMF. I love that this amp looks classic and does touch on classic tones while pushing it into the 21st century. (I bet the amp builder didn't think he/she would get that compliment)The only thing that I don't like(not hate, life is short)about this amp is the lack of information about it. Everyone has to go on a quest for their tone-I was lucky to have found this and to have known the person who owned the store that it was in. He thought I was a good guy, it was Christmas, and he gave it to me for $750(for the head AND the Vintage 30 loaded cab)Thanks Derek/D Rocks in Nebraska. Try to find a head and cab of this quality for that price anywhere. I paid $650 for the second head-they are hard to come buy, but not many people know about them. The amp gets a 10-just because it doesn't know it's creator doesn't mean it is the amp's fault.

The approximate Build date is 1993.
The amp is perfect for my style. I have been playing for 21 years and I just purchased an Ibanez 7 string guitar EMG loaded and 2Bag End 4/12Cabs that are time aligned cab. With speakers totally separated internally from each other the combination of the two blends great. It has two channels with channel switching. It has an effects loop or effects send and return same difference. No headphone jack.
Actually it is perfect the way it was designed.
I presently use the amp at my bands studio. And it has just the right amount of power it actually goes to 11

I use Ibanez strats loaded with EMG pickups.
It totally fits my style. We play a heavy sounding style.
It is very very quite for the power it puts out.
The amp can sound cleaner than clean and heavy than heavy.
The clean channel is all clean even at very high volumes.
The distortion is like a chain saw ripping thru a steel shed...

I have been playing 21 years. I own 4 Bag End Cabs all straight.
I would seek out a duplicate amp.
The unheard of tonal crunch. Unmatched by any out there now.
When I was first looking for a new amp I tried Mesa Booger, Marshmellow, Crate, Peavey, soldano, fender, etc...The BMF sound was unmatched

This is one hot rod amp. Gain for miles. As far as features, it has a nice EQ section, NO REVERB just power hehe, has a 1/2 or 1/3 power brake, also bias settings for tube type and tube charge. Tone. It also has 3 gain knobs for A channel and a single vol on B channel, both used in conjuction with a master level.
It does have nice send and returns that are individually gainable.
It can and will melt down if you gain it all up and roll it for 10 hours. Its been close. It's a hotrod with no governing circutry.

Very loud. Howls in a good way. Full range from bottom to top. Many tone variations, most all are tasty. Ive been running a 412 loaded with celestion g12k-85b's and it was stunning, so i got 4 more g12-85s and loaded a second cab. Im deaf, but in heaven. My Chain is: Guild s100->dunlopcrybaby->digitech whammy2->MetalZone(shutup already)->Morly Volume-> RACK -> Peavey Valverb pre->korg tuner-> BMF. The effect loop on the BMF->ART MultiVerbAlpha->BBE462->BMF.
This is the bad mutha fucka as the name states. And it does go toe to toe with any MESA rig I've played opposite of. And yes we play progressive METAL.
Word has it that the BMF was taylored for Slash of GNR (not my faves) to match his JCM900 Jubilee's that he was having a hard time aquiring.

This amp fell out of my jeep during a manuever and after 110 in retubing and a lil repair, its back on tour. I do take a backup with me thats solid state, but it is a heavy monster that keeps on giving.

It rocks and it crushes Marshalls and stands with the TripleRectifiers, and has a unique tone variety thats really tasty. I can go from chords of death to southern fried leads...
Randall tech support says apparently there arent many of these things floating around. The randall logo is so small for awhile we didnt know who made this thing. Just bought it from a retiring rockstar.
I dont know where I'd find another... so please dont steal mine... I'll KILL YA and wear your head like a jimi cap :)
