Features? What's that? This p.o.s. "practice" amp has 1 12" speaker, and 2 channels that, I think, share the EQ: 1 clean "Normal" with no controls other than Volume, 1 "Overdrive" with Gain & Level controls. The EQ has (reading from left to right) Treble, Middle, Bass, Presence. It has 1 input jack, and 1 headphone jack. Both channels are switchable BUT only via an on-board sliding switch. TOTALLY LAME-O. This thing really needs an effects loop and a footswitch. The whatever-you-call-it vinyl covering cabinet is a closed back that really helps with its speaker punch. And its somewhat light in weight.

Yeah it's LOUD. I'd rather have a Marshall stack anyday over this or especially a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410. On this Randall amp, the clean channel is bright and smooth and clean and LOUD. But the distortion channel gets its volume cut by about 1/3 compared to the clean channel. I thought "Since the clean channel is so loud, I'll just run my FX pedals thru that channel and all will be fine." YEAH, RIGHT. The circuitry has some kind of filter that filters out ALL guitar effects, so all you're left with is a clean sound. WTF do I need that for? The distortion is about the same as what the DOD DeathMetal gives you, but the controls are all scratchy and dirty.

I bought this amp from Ebay, from some lucky stiff over in San Fran cisco for $50. Boy did I get ripped!!! The chassis is missing it's back plate, so all of the electronics are exposed. Until I make a new custom metal plate, this thing may actually get to see the cespool it gurgled up from. I give it a 2 rating, mostly because the cabinet and speaker are nuclear bomb proof!!!!!

I use a Yamaha RGX-612A guitar with active phase circuitry, EMG singles, and I changed out the stock humbucker for a DiMarzio Dual Sound with coil cut switches. GAWD what a shred factory it is!!!! Then if I plug into the Randall, well . . . it just sounds amazing, until you turn up the amp volume, which then the disto gets really muddy and kinda leaves you wanting another amp. I've heard boutique combo amps that actually sound as if they can sing, yet this Randall sounds like it's got a sore throat. The only activity this amp is good fer, is practicing. I wouldn't waste my time AND REPUTATION giging with this P.O.S.

My Randall C-50 was made in 1993. It seems to be only good for those grunge rockers out there. However, the clean sounds good. It has 2 selectable channels with no footswitch input. Also has a headphone jack. It would be better if the distortion was heavier and tighter -- the way it was made, the overdrive is very crusty and grungy-sounding. Also has a single 10" Randall Jaguar speaker that delivers fairly loud sound. Works powerfully in my bedroom but could be used at a small venue too. It is purely solid-state and the overdrive sounds a little harsh due to that fact.

I am using it with a B.C. Rich Rave II Warlock with dual humbuckers, and I also run it with a DOD FX86B Death Metal pedal connected. Sounds good with the pedal. There is a small amount of 60 cycle noise when it is on, but when the gain is maxed on the overdrive, it induces annoying white noise. But otherwise, it is fairly quiet. The overdrive only seems to be good for punk and grunge. Not a huge variety though. The clean channel becomes slightly distorted after vol 5/10 or so, but that's not a big deal. It is a fairly high gain amp and can get reasonably loud, but don't expect to drown out your drummer. Good for jamming with friends and small gigs, nothing major.

It is used, and seems to be somewhat well abused. I would use it without a backup. Because it is a transistor amp, I would expect it to survive a fall down a large staircase pretty well.

Never dealt with them, but Randall is well known, so they would probably be good with their customers.

I just got it recently. One of my friends let me have it for free. I would probably buy something better if it got lost. Good, powerful clean but not so amazing distortion. Somewhat loud too. I know that my friend beats up amps and puts them to the test at ultra high volume. Wherever this thing came from, it has survived some 12 years of use.
