Features : No Opinion
This modular preamp was made in 2008.
Gain, Bass, Mids, Treble, Volume (bright switch)
Not much more to be said.
Weighs about a pound.... maybe a bit more.
Fits in the Randall MTS series modular amps. (about 6 models)

How can you give this catagory a 1 - 10 rating?
It has the features you need. Nothing extra.

Sound Quality : 10
Boutique quality sound (well almost) with great design and reactive controls.
The first minute I had the unit on, I got no sound.
Then I realized, you have to have at least ONE of the EQ knobs up passed zero or you'll get no sound. (Active EQ)
The Plexi is a Dead Pan likeness of the cherrished old Marshalls of yester-year. I personally think it's even better! (more control of the sound, more balls)
This is the perfect rock & roll rhythm preamp. Not too much gain...just right! If you need more than this, go to the SL+ module. If that doesn't do it....you don't want the Marshall sound.
This (along with my Randall RM 100 head) is the best sounding amp I've ever owned! (and that is saying something)

Reliability : 9
Tank! Heavy Armor Tank!
But still not something you'd throw around like a Frisbee.
9 because of Murphy's Law

Customer Support : 10
I did email them to ask "Why no reverb on the RM 100?"
They were nice and answered my question promptly.
Not a satisfactory answer, but still....

Overall Rating : 10
People, this is good stuff.
Bruce E. and Randall made a great amp for the masses.
If you can afford it, get Bruce's Egnater amps instead. They are even nicer. But this is almost as good, just factory made.

To get these preamps up to par with Bruce Egnater preamps, you can have them modded by guys that hang out on the Randall forum. Member "okstrat" is a real cool guy and can hotrod your module at a reasonable price.

This is not the best sounding module they make, this is the most Marshally sounding preamp they make (this and the SL+)
If you want even more gain, more modern/less modern/vintage...they make over 20 modules (some older ones being discontinued) so if you can't find one to your liking.....You're too picky!
Go get a Nuno Bettencourt amp and pay $3500+ for a setup.
Randall makes that, too!
I bet it screams! (I'll never find out)

Really simple and reactive controls, the balance between drive, tone and level provide outstanding results.

Sound Quality : 10
Using a variety of guitars, single coils and humbuckers all can be dialed in. This is subjective but I've been around a few years to know that this is the richest harmonic sounding stuff I have come across. I use the RM4 and the RT2/50 and it is incredible. Great job Bruce Egnater!!!

Reliability : 10
So far the module looks well built and exhibits really no reason to break, but I still handle them gently we are dealing with tubes and inserting the modules. Bruce Egnater designed this stuff I expect it to be around for a long time.

Randall, hmmmm not the best and not the worst, US Music Corp, big company and big company attitude.

Overall Rating : 10
30 years of playing music, recording, and living with gear accumulation syndrome. I took the time to write this to let you know this stuff is fantastic.
