I was told it was made in '72. It is all U.S. made.It it the pro tube 1000 and has four 10" made in Irvine,Ca. Jaquars that are pristine.I play Blues,Country,Rock and some jazz on a '69 thinline telecaster reissue mahogany body and vintage tele pups. The amp has two channels clean and overdrive.Of course it has the four button wide range EQ and a fifth button for the reverb which is excellent on this amp.I have a couple of digitech pedals that have every sound on the planet and use it through the effects loop. I use all of the built in features in the amp.I use it for our weekly jam sessions and when I play at the american leigon on blues night. This amp has 2-6L6GC's-4-12AX7's and 1-12at7 and the sound is incredible. My friend has a fender twin 85 watt all tube w/2x12's that does not sound as good as my 65 watt randall and I would never consider selling this amp. It can cover any venue if I hook an additional 4x12 cab. This amp is loud with great definition in either channel. If you can find one GRAB IT you'll be glad you did.I dont find it noisy with my tele great amps dont buzz when you have single coil pups, only cheap ones do.

Sound Quality : 10
The amp (and of course the guitar I play)suit my music styles which range from bluegrass flatpicking to B.B. King and Jimmy Reed style blues. I dont find it noisy because I dont play noisy. I play at a moderate volume, never above four,(This is one loud amp,Four is like six on my friends twin. The amp has great blues sounds in the clean mode with about a third reverb on amp set to 2.5 vol this is my blues setting, I am not a fan of distortion but use it sometimes in leads on a low crunch setting along with pinching the string against the pick for the ring and twang combination, so I dont know how brutal the distortion can be and I'm not interested to know.

Reliability : 10
As I stated, the amp is old but in pristine conition all wood 70 lbs.It has been very dependable as well as an eye catcher as it looks like a simple 4x10 speaker cab untill you get on top an see the contols I have used it with no bacup and will again because although it was built by Randall it was designed by Gen. George s. Patton. I have expirenced no breakdowns at all!

I have not dealt with cussup-never needed 'em.

Overall Rating : 10
I am 60 and been playing since 14. I have other guitars and amps, portastudios, various recording equiptment. If it were lost or stolen, my insurance company will pay for the next identical amp as I would search for another.
I love what I paid for this amp and I will not reveal the price. I Hate that it weighs 70 pounds.
I compared it to several fender tube amps and the tonability built into mine is as good or better than any I've played.
I wish I had the original footswitch.

Made in early 80's, two channels, reverb, blah.. I think the guys below me had it explained it

Sound Quality : 10
Oh man.. This amp roars!! Amazing distortion! The reverb and clean channel are great. I use a Fender Strat with a Seymour Invader and it's just unbeliable! 5 stars

Reliability : 10
Never broke down. New tubes and youre good.

Never dealt with it

Overall Rating : 10
I always keep an eye on this amp. It's so amazing that if it gets stolen I'll be screwed. THEY DON'T MAKE THESE ANYMORE and THEY ARE BECOME RARE and HARD TO FIND!! If you by any chance get a chance to get one of these don't hesitate and get it. I guess if I lost it I'll get a Boogie Rectifier.

Two channels (clean/crunch) with reverb and effect loops. Uses 2 6l6GC's, 4 12AX-7's, and one 12AT-7. Mine is from the late 80's, I think.

Sound Quality : 10
Clean channel is great even a high levels. The distortion on the second channel is great too. A buddy of mine changed the tubes and he put Mesa Boogie in it and now sounds terrific! Sounds pretty similar to his Dual Rectifier!!!

Reliability : 10
Just the regular tube servicing, that's all.

Never had to deal with them.

It's a great tube amp and they are getting really rare to find. I'm very happy with mine and I think I'll not part with it anymore. If mine was stolen, I will chase the M*****F****R!!!

the first guy explained the amp very well.

Sound Quality : 8
cheap squire strat cheap pickups using several distortion pedal. I like blues jazz like bill frisell, rock, metal, doom, stoner you name it i probably try to play it. the tone in this amp with gca7/el34 tubes can best be described as glassy coke bottle blues. yes it is clean but not steril this one has a very fixed wah sound. ive tried explaining this to others who just think im mad. but i ised to drink from and play with the old green glass coke bottles when i was a kid.
very stevie ray vaghn if you put a fifteen under it you would sound like him if you could play like him. the other guys say this is a metal amp and perhaps mine was modified. guys i love metal and dont consider this to be a metal amp. the distortion is there for sure but more or less like tube screamer distortion. when i think of metal i think soldano avenger or marshall jcm 900 and above. a pedal can give you metal results and this thing is LOUD but try the pedal with this amp before you buy, driving a stack would be no problem. this amp really does hate to be played queitly. i need a volume pedal or something in the loop. also recomend playing with other output tubes to find the sound you desire. you either like it enough to carry all 70 pounds or you just need an interesting sound.

unit hisses
reverd is ok
clean channel stays clean all the way up until speaker breaks up
the distortion is brutal enough to confuse and stun a cat with rabies, like gravel in your speakers, like a mega amped tube screamer,
like being draged along behind a dragster at 200mph on a gravel road.

i will end up with the right distortion pedal eventually for my sound in the mean time this is going to be a keeper.

its old and needs work

if lost blah blah blah id let it go. such is life. i own a soldano sp-77 and would like to own either the deca tone or avenger. got money? i dont. I love the bluesy sounds. I hate the wieght and that when i play through this thing i wanna play blues cause i love heavey metal. i chose it for price, volume, and the fact that like any tube amp it CAN BE MODIFED and because its not fender or marshall fuck fender corp. do youself a favor and demand from your music store realistic pricing say no to VINTAGE it only means repairs and gloating by people you sold it to, to pay the rent. get real MARSHALL doubling your prices shame on you.

This thing has more features than I will ever use! Mine is a 93. It has two channels with reverb and this thing makes you sound like George Lynch! Zakk Wylde heads would love this too! This has got to be one of the loudest 50 watt amps out there. I have el34's in mine and it rocks harder than my other heads.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a lespaul and a Marshall 4x12 cab with greenbacks in it. No effects needed! I can play anything from Jazz to country with the clean channel and with the dirty channel I can do anything from blues to death metal.

Reliability : 9
No problems cranks enuff to move your pant leggs!

Never needed them. This is my second Randall My first was a rg-80 1x12 combo........another great amp.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing 24 years and would have to get another if it were stolen. It's got it all as far as I'm concerned. I've got three M*****lls and I still come back to this one. Enuff said..........

1x12, 55 Watt tube combo. Uses 2 6l6GC's, 4 12AX-7's, and one 12AT-7. Celestion 12" speaker
This amp has 2 Channels, clean and drive, which can be switched from a rocker switch on the front panel or from a footswitch. The Reverb can be switched on and off as well if you have a dual footswitch. It has an effects loop as well. On the clean channel, it has a volume, a treble, and a bass control. On the drive channel there is a bass, a mid, a treble, and a gain voicing control (adjusts the center frequency of the mid control), as well as master and gain controls. The amp has 2 speaker outs, but they are fixed at 8 ohms, which could be annoying with some setups. My only other complaint would be the on/off/standby three way toggle (I would prefer two seperate switches, but it is no biggie).

Sound Quality : 8
The clean channel on this amp sounds great. It is warm, and while it is a little more mellow than some, it can be fairly bright. There is no clipping at all on the clean channel, and you can get pretty far up on the dial before it starts to distort. On the drive channel, the gates of hell open up. This amp has a ton of gain, and can make even fender single coils sound big. The distortion is very heavy once you get up past 5 on the gain control, with a fairly heavy low end. If you like the blues, this is not the amp for you. If you like Metal, then give this one a look. With the gain up and the volume below 1, the high end is severely muffled, but once you get up past one the highs come back in. This amp sounds better the louder it gets, and seems to disdain being played quietly. There is no 1/3 power switch like there is on the Pro-Tube 1000 II. It is a fairly quiet amp, and it's only drawback for my style of playing (Metal) would be that it picks up CB raido fairly readily.

Reliability : 7
The only problem that I have ha with this amp was a mysterious volume drop after I played for about 10 minutes. It turned out that the switch in the effects loop which is suposed to close when there is nothing pluged in through the loop wasn't working, so I went down to radio shaft, bought a 1' cable with 1/4" jacks on each end and plugged the ends into the send/return jacks. I have never had a problem with it since.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had to deal with the (knock on wood)

Overall Rating : 9
I got a stinking good deal on this amp, which I bought new & which according to the tag had once been sold for well over $500. Don't confuse it with the Pro-Tube 100 II, because it is a quite different amp. I love the way it sounds, and I would put it up against a Marshall any day. I have played this amp through a 4x12 cabnet and it sounded great. The single 12 in the combo doesn't do the amp justice. In fact, there is a Pro-Tube 1000 full size head, which has exactly the same amp section. I would buy it again in a heartbeat, and despite the fact that it weighs well into the 70 lb range, it is a great amp to go anywhere and play with. It has oodles of gain and a strong clean section, and plenty of power.
