This amp is pretty simple, I bought it off a college professor loking to make a few extra bucks. It only has a few simple nobs, mine bein not quite so over-the-hill, has the standard volume, and a master sustain (which I have yet to figure out what its actually supposed to do) a bass, meddle, and treble nob. With the bass I'm using, I prefer to just keep the treble off with half medium and a full bass, depending on the song, the treble can come in handy however. It also has a double hook up for duet playing.

Right now I'm using a fender p-bass special with this amp, the amp works great on the lower setting with the bass, I'm not so sure as to how it would sound with a normal electric guitar, but the bass line is great. Unfortunately it gets a little...warbly at higher volumes. I suppose this could be a sign of old age, but before I throw this thing out I'm gonna work it till its done. I've had this for only about 3 years, but the previous owner had it going on 14. This amp is a true power house. It works great with both heavy and light metal, and even better during live performances. This amp does distort a little at higher volumes, although the distortion isn't too "brutal" it can sound a little mushy.

This amp has never fallen apart on me, and talking to the previous owner, the lack of too much care had almost no effect on this amp. Its never been to the shop, and besides the occasional cleaning and dusting, this thing has never needed to be worked on. I would use this amp anywhere. Occasionally the hookup cables don't seem to connect right and you end up getting that mike-to-the-speaker sound. although I'm not sure if its the cables of the amp thats doing it, I think I might have it looked at soon.

I'm not currently using it with anything other than my bass, and personally I like it that way. This amp has worked well for me in the three years I've played with it, and I'm planning on keeping it in use for many more. I got this amp originally because well, I could afford it. I bought it at the same time I bought my guitar, in fact, I got them from the same guy on the same day for 75 bucks each. He hated parting with it, but after buying a new telecaster this amp just didn't seem to sound right with it, and therefor he gave it up. I do wish that it had some sort of built in distortion with it, and some effects would be nice, although a few pieces of other equipment can solve that problem easy.

The amp is a little bit older, it was my first bass amp, when I bought about seven years ago and there it was already several years in use by the man, who sold it to me.
The amp has a builtin 15"-Speaker, not much knobs (only 3way-EQ, Volume, which in fact is some sort of gain and master sustain, which is the mastervolume), two inputs, no phoneplug, but you can plug an additional cabinet.
There also is a lineout, but this is not a DI, I wouldn't use it to go directly into PA.
There is no effectway, no builtin effects and no other extrafeatures, it's just an amp with an builtin speaker. Not more, not less.
Power is enough to play in bands or smaller gigs, but especially playing with louder bands you wish to have a little bit more, because it starts to sound muddy at higher volumes.
It's built very stable, therefore it is a little bit heavy, but you can carry it by yourself without having to fear your back broken.

Sound is very dry, this is definitely no amp for funk, but for rock and metal just perfect. Without using external tools, you cannot change much about the sound.
The volume/gain-knob should be handled carefully, if it is higher than 2, it sounds muddy and distorted (but not in a nice way), lower don't you get enough out of the amp. But once you know it, you can deal with it.

Although i'm using now a Hughes&Kettner BassBase600 as live rig, for smaller gigs, practising and in misuse as a guitarcombo this amp is just perfect.

Although I don't know the exact date, this is an early/mid-`80s Randall made prior to the Washburn buyout. Very basic in terms of features: 60-watt bass combo with 15" speaker, dual inputs, treble/mid/bass EQ, volume and master sustain. It also has casters, but I don't know if they're standard as I purchased this amp used. No outputs or loops, just enough to do the job. For me, that means holding down the bottom end for a variety of metal. Sufficient for band practice, small gigs or through a PA.

Currently, I am primarily a guitarist, but have also played bass for a number of years and continue to do so as needed. My only bass at the moment is a Samick 4-string fretless with P/J pickup configuration. In the past, I have also played a Martin Stinger and Washburn Bantam XB-100 through this. As stated in the previous review, there's not a lot of high-end to work with on this amp -- it kicks out some serious mids and lows -- so it probably isn't ideal for use with a fretless bass. However, it is a solid performer for metal, and probably almost any other style of music. I originally expected the "master sustain" control to be some sort of reverb, but found that this is not the case. For any reverb, I have to use a delay pedal, in this case a Boss DD-2. I also use a Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive, which gets me a distortion similar to Cliff Burton (RIP) as heard on early Metallica albums. I just recently bought an Ibanez BP-5 bass compressor that I haven't really tried yet. Not a wide variety of tones to be had, but it's plenty good for live use or thru a mic for recording. A friend of mine just bought a Crate BX50, which has a much better sound and more available tones, but this Randall is probably at least 15 years old, and meant to be a barebones workhorse.

I've owned this amp for 8 years, and have had it in the shop once because of a buzzing sound that came out of nowhere after I'd had it for 3-4 years. Otherwise, it has been very reliable. I've been through four bands with it so far, and it has never failed to deliver the goods. It looks almost brand new, after being lugged to garages and basements, and through several moves over the years.

Washburn doesn't have any info on the older Randall amps, so no rating.

I've been playing both guitar and bass for the past ten years. All of my guitar amps and cabs are Peavey, but I've kept the Randall for my bass rig and have no intention of getting rid of it. To my knowledge, Randall no longer has anything larger than a practice amp for bassists, so I'd be forced to look elsewhere if I had to replace my RB-60. Prior to this I just had a little Peavey MicroBass, which couldn't keep up in a band situation. Sure, I wish this had more features, but it does everything I need. For what I paid ($150 used), you won't find a better deal, especially for a 15" combo. Even if the individual scores aren't all that high, this is a very good amp for anywhere from the bedroom to a small club.

Got this for my birthday three years back, don't know what year. It's it great in combination with 12's for ska/funk/jazz, and it has the proper output slots. Only one channel, no loops, but it has everything I want or use.

It sounds great in combination with 12's, so it gets a 10 with setup. By itself it gets a little grainy at high volumes and doesn't give me the highs I need for funk, but gives me all my lows and mids, so it gets a seven.

This thing gets dragged around all over the place without a problem and has bounced around in the back of my truck for years without a change in sound. Very reliable. If I ever played a gig where I needed my own equipment, I'd use it. I've let other bands use it, and they've loved it.

I've been playing for three years. I use the RB-60 with a Peavey Minx 110 for the 12 inch speaker. I'm very happy with the setup, I just wish it had more power.
