No details required sice I just would repeat what's already been said. The power in this thing is enough for small gigs so for the price it's really great... I bought an another footswitch immidiately sine I wanted to be able to mix any effect on any channel...

Mostly I play with my ESP M307 with double EMG707. Metal, hard core, grind core etc...
Gain 1 sucks in my opinion but thats because it was meant to sound like that. Some people don't like fat distortion but I do, so I use Gain 2 and MAN it got power enough to kick serious ass with all other combos in this price range! Very good. The clean channel is very good. Now aren't the 707 the best pickup for clean sounds but with the excellent chorus and the nice reverb it sounds ok. With an another guitar and a single coil it would probably sound great!

Well, here comes the sad part. When I read the other rewievs I understood that I must have gotten a "black sheep" amp.
When I bought it i played for about 5-6 hours and the it just turned dead! I brought it back to the store where I bought it and a few days later I got it back (some electronic part had been loose inside of it!). So I plugged it in and played for 2-3 weeks and then it died again!!! Mad as El Diablo himslef I once again got back to the store. This time I believe he was a little embarrassed so he called Randall Sweden and the sent me a brand new one. The new one have worked reat for 4 months now. But I'm not trusting it yet...

As mentioned above. The repaired the first one and then the second time I got a new one so I can't complain about that.

I've been playing for 12 years and although I don't trust the amp I love the sound it makes so I would definitely buy it again. And since it's cheap if you consider what you get, it's nothing to think about. You can't get a better combo for this amount of money.
So if you are going to buy a fat combo. Buy this one!

I play an Ibanez RG220 with stock pick-ups and play anything from oldies rock to new age hardcore, this amp plays any style great. And on the dirty channels it does get a bit noisy, so I just use my stomp boxes Void feature to get rid of that :) Clean channel is never noisy.. It sparkles when you play on it.

The clean on this amp competes with high class fenders. its absolutley beautiful. It distorted at first, but that was only cause the pickups on my parker give an incredible amount of output. So i used a DOD equalizer (just good as the boss 7 equalizer thing) to lower the overall output of my guitar, and this solved the problem. From then on the clean never distorted, even at HIGH volumes. However i soon ran into a problem. The distortion channel on this amp requires LOTS of guitar output to actually be brutal, otherwise it sounds like a skunk quefing, in a tin garbage can. The only way i was actually happy was to raise the output on my DOD EQ to the max output level (BEWARE, amp will feedback like HELL if you do this). The distortion suddenly came alive. on both channels (I don't know HOW ppl actually like this amps OD if they're not using the same technique i am.) My dilemma is now that i need more input for the OD and less for the clean, and its a drastic difference between the output levels. Don't get discouraged when you first get the amp, because it sounds SO much better in a band situation. Luckily, i am using this amp strictly for cleans and have a diff amp wit tubes for distortion. Other than this flaw, this amp ROCKS. Blows away any other amp in the price range. There's More gain than i need by the way. Def more than marshalls.

Don't buy shitty tube emulators, like AVT's. I have lots of respect for solid state units, just not when they try to emulate tubes. This amp does no emulation. it sounds warmer than tube emulators and all other solid state amps i've played (except other randalls). Best amp in the price range. Even if you use high grade tube amps, check this amp out for its clean alone. you won't be let down.

I use an ESP explorer and A DeArmond SG. THe clean channel is excellent like all the other people said. I play metal (pantera, metallica, Black Label Society). I have not been able to get this amp's distortion to sound heaevy enough- so I use a Boss Metal Zone pedal on the clean channel and it sounds great. This also allows me to use the footswitch for the reverb/chorus effects. The clean channel does not distort at high volumes (if you turned this thing up more than half way your brain will leak out your broken earholes). Someone else has noted that it is hard to find an amp in a descent price range that will supply you with a good distortion. Nevertheless, it is an excellent amp. It is the largest combo I have ever seen. There are also jacks for extension cabinets (4 and 8 Ohms). I just got this amp today and I still need to play around with the distortion to see if I can get it to sound like others claim it to sound like. I still give it a ten. I called up the Randall company (phone# found on the randall web site) asking about the low end sound that was a concern to some people- they told me that a Boss GE-7 equalizer pedal would fix any tone problem.

Excellent amp for anyone. I have been playing for 12 yrs and it is one of the best amps I have ever played through. I can't say it is better than a Mesa because I have never played through a Mesa. If it got stolen I would buy another one. It weighs around 60 lbs- it's not that heavy. It's heavy enough to let you know that they didn't stuff crap in it.

I have found out something quit interesting about this amp in recent weeks. Had some new faces in band room along with any different guitars and guess what I found out. This amp hates (in DOES NOT LIKE) low output PU's. On the other hand if your ax has high output PU's or you run through a pedel of some sort your in luck. If the pedel deal is you then crank up the oputput level on the pedel and be ready for a suprise. The gain ch.'s, 1and 2, come to life. Found this out when some poeple plugged into this amp and all of a sudden I was hearing all this fuzz and weak distortion that poeple here have quoted but has not been the case until then. After playing around with some settings and pedels we realized that a strong input is what this amp needs to really shine. I hope this helps some of you who were disapponited with the amp after reading reviews here. I am really satisified with mine and hope no one here has any bad feelings toward those of us who have found ways to make this amp rock. Keep Rockin'

i would like to clear something up. The Distortion SUCKS! ASS! its basically a thumping squeamish buzzy tin can sound that u can never really eliminate. there's alot of gain, certainly more than any marshalls. It is obvious that people giving rave reviews about this amps Od tone have either upgraded from 10W squier amps or own shitty pedals like the smashbox and metalzone. This sounds NOTHING LIKE A MESA RECTIFIER. Mesa rectifiers, think creed, godsmack, alice in chains.
The clean is the only reason I own this amp. its fender ultimate stereo chorus or princeton clean. and it has built in STEREO chorus.
Its not druggy grungy chorus. its analog so its warm and spacious. better than cheap ass BOSS pedals chorus. The reverb on this unit is excellent as well. its not like crate shit reverb. and its not an emulation of a room, it simply leaves a slight sutanance of ur playing. its solid state, nothing quite sparkles like it. never been a fan of tube cleans, too gritty. tubes are for distortion. i will most likely keep this amp for its clean tones, and use another amp for distortion (mesa, peavey, not sure). for my purposes (the clean channel) this amp rocks. for my purposes this amp gets a 10

i've owned and played tons of amps over several years of playing. this amp stands up to any of those ultra expensive fender amps. twin reverbs, black face. for cleans. distortion is terrible. it gets a 3, cause i've heard worse. but u should realize ur not gonna get a killer AMP distortion tone for $400 (some $400 processors can), its impossible, no matter what others might say. well nothing that lives up to ur favorite artist. overall dist 3, cleans 10, chorus and reverb rock. never seen a better amp for $400. actually i don't think i've seen a better one at $700, unless it was another randall. best cleans out there.

I use a parker P44 with a SH-PG1 Pearly Gates humbucker on the bridge. Other than that i use a Zoom GFX8 (Awesome unit) and a Digitech RP300. People who have raved about the Distortion channels on this amp are sadly mistaken. While they are very good for soloing, they have a weak low end (Even with bass turned to 10!), and are not very useful for making defined runs. The Gain 2 is pretty muddy. The Gain 1 is strictly for lighter soloing. These channels are simply too weak. For some odd reason, there is not enough volume on the dirty channels, more like 30 watts, and the low end fades away as u turn up the volume. So the OD channels suck, but i still love this amp. Anyone who is serious about guitar realizes that they cannot depend on their amps Distortion channel. U need pedals. The clean channel on this amp absolutley rocks. Its thick, lush, and never distorts. The EQ is absolutley beautiful. The EQ is not too fuzzy, and has bite. The Bass is pleasing and works excellently for heavy palm muting. The Reverb is very nice and analog, good for filling ur sound up a bit. The chorus is analog as well, VERY NICE, not cheesy sounding at all. However it will not get u a nirvana grunge sound. This amp is incredibly loud on the clean channel. its set too 3 on the master and 3 on the EQ, and it can easily blow my 400w stereo system away. I've played on a marshall AVT100 before, and this amp sounds warmer. I play system of a down, godsmack, creed, proach, nirvana, rage, fuel, and incubus stuff on this amp. I find its best fitting for heavier stuff. It has a great clean sound and works exquisitely with heavy dist boxes, but doesn't have the true tube tone to get you alternative or classic rock sounds. (On the other hand, i don't have equipment to get those sounds neways). Out of all the stuff i play, it sounds good when i play, creed, system of a down, proach, nirvana, and godsmack stuff. Tom Morello is just disgustingly good and has an unduplicatable sound. Metallica riffs sound great on this amp as well.
Great clean sounds, great high gain sounds.

This is a kick ass amp for me. i paid $400 and this amp definetly exceeded expectations, just read the other reviews. what this amp does it does well. don't go out and by that marshall shit that only "imitates" tube amps. Randall doesn't try to imitate, they have their own sound. Don't copy sounds, make ur own.

This amp is powerful, and amazing. It has 3 channels .. Clean, Light (Blues) distortion, and a Heavy distortion. It's a 100-watt Solid State amp .. but it is BRITISH RATED. So, that's 100 USEABLE watts. Marshalls are set up the same way. Let's compare it to you're car speakers. If you have a 45W X 4 setup, you aren't gonna get 45 watts out of one side unless it's cranked up and all nasty distorted sounding and stuff. Same thing with an amp. You aren't gonna get the current going enough to get 150 watts out of a Mesa Triple-Rectifier unless you crank it up real loud .. then you have the problem of the amp sounding like crap. Power? No problem, this amp has plenty of it.

I matched it up with my friend's Mesa Triple-Rectifier, and my other friend's Marshall JCM 2000 .. and this Randall blew them both away. I run the combo (which is stereo) through a Trace Elliot cabinet, and the sound it just wonderful. It is a solid state amp - so you don't get any of that nasty grit stuff that you get from a tube amp. You can make this amp sound like a Mesa, a Marshall, or a traditional Randall METAL amp, like a Warhead. Distortion 1, the light distortion .. when the gain is around 8-10 it sounds like a JCM 2000 .. and when Distortion 2 is around gain 6 and contour 10 .. it sounds exactly like a Dual Rectifier. This amp will play however you want it to, and tear some stuff up in the process :) I do recommend running this amp through a cabinet of high-powered celestions .. but if you don't have the money, then the 2 70-80's that come with it still hold they're own.
Reliability

I've only had it break down once .. and I had the reverb, chorus, and distortion cranked to 9.5 on all channels (I don't recommend doing that) .. and it warped the board. The people at the music shop that repaired the amp said that it was just faulty components .. and that a couple bad transformers got placed in there. It was totally free to have it repaired .. great warranty. Other than that, I've gigged with this thing left and right and never had a problem.

Overall Rating

Overall - if you don't buy this amp, and go for a 100-watt tube head .. you're wasting you're money. I found a Trace cabinet for 500 bucks .. and with this amp the cost of my rig came to only $900. That beats the hell out of $1600 for a JCM 2000 half-stack and $2300 for a Triple-Rectifier half-stack. You can get a great Marshall cabinet for around $550 (1960A) .. and have it sound just as good. So, if you want to save money .. and you want to have an AWESOME amp .. then invest in the best amp company around.

The clean channel is clear, and sounds clean at high volume. Distortion 1 is on the weak side, and not really good for metal. distortion 2 is not what I was hoping for. it sounded like heavy bass distortion, and thats it. The contour knob seems to just make it sound darker. I guess its cool if you just want bass heavy noise, but it wasn't for me. Plus the speakers sound like that want to give out at loud volumes, you would need an extention cabinet.
