Bought new from Musician's Friend. I was skeptical because of the low price, but figured if I didn't like it I could return it. 100 Watts, Stereo Chorus, 2 channels (but the lead channel has 2 voicings). Both channels have EQ and Lead Channel has a "Contour" knob that allows you to dial in a biased sound of modern Rectifier like mid-sucked-out Pantera-esque tone or a more traditional middier tone - great feature.
Power is MORE than adequate. I had a Hughes and Kettner Attax 80 which had a great tone, but if you turned it up, it had this weird thumping sound like the speaker was blown. This thing is great. Plenty of footswitchability - I have 2 foot switches - one for channel and reverb and one for Lead voicing and chorus. You can run both at the same time.
I use this amp for playing out and for home recording.

I couldn't believe how cool it sounded. I'm not going to say that it sounds tube like because I've never had great experiences with my tube amps - I always thought they sounded kind of harsh. However, this thing sounds like a very smooth tube amp. Thumpy if you want, or smooth and soft if you don't play too aggressively. The distortion is EXTREMELY good. The contour knob is one of the coolest things I've ever used on an amp. You can dial in just about any tone. It takes some fiddling and different rooms make the amp sound different, but you can always dial in a good tone.....ALWAYS.
Amp is very quiet regarding hiss. The stereo chorus is lush. The clean sound is not as funky as my hughes and Kettner was. If it was a little meatier, I'd give it a 10, but I'd give it a 9.9 if I could.

Seems very sturdy. It's not too heavy for a 2X12 combo, but it's heavy enough to make you feel confident it can take a little bit of a beating. It's covered in a tough, but cool looking leather like material. It looks great too. Has celestions in it, so it should be more than up to the task. Hasn't let me down at all and I don't feel the need to use a backup, but I've always carried a Johnson J-Station with me just in case some freaky accident happens.

Haven't needed to use Randall's customer support yet. The amp is very easy to get a hold of. Not TOO many buttons. The footswitches (4 buttons) takes a little bit of time, but it's all good now.

I've been playing for almost 20 years and have been in bands playing all kinds of music. Now playing in a band that's playing modern tunes - Jimmy Eat World, SR-71, Sum-41, etc. This amp has it down. I can also make the world shudder with vengeance-filled distortion, gain, and volume if I choose too. This amp doesn't merely go to 11, for a 100 Watt solid state amp, it goes to 12! It's a killer amp at an UNBELIEVABLE price. Don't let the price fool you, it's right up there with much more expensive amps. Feature for feature, pound for pound, sound for sound, there isn't the need to spend a ton of money on an amp to get a great sound. EXTREMELY versatile - don't walk - RUN to your local dealer and get this thing!

2 Channles, 2 different gain w/contor, built in stereo chorus, effects loop, i can just keep going on. The only thing the amp doesn't have that it should have is a Presence control. Other than that you can get a lot of good sound out of it.

Gain 2: Perfect for my bands heavy metal sound. Gain : Similar to older amp sound herd in some classic rock. The clean channle, w/stero chorus and reverb, turns this heavy distored amp into a clear, brilliant amp. That what I love about it the most

Ok here is my initial review on the randall rg 100sc....WOOOO!!!! It is a 100 watt solid state 2-12 combo with 2 celestion red label speakers in it. It is setup with two channels Clean and Distortion. The distortion has 2 footswitchable modes: Gain 1-vintage distortion to pretty heavy crunch. Gain 2-This setting will handle metal perfectly, Its bottom heavy with more than enough treble and outragous amounts of gain. Both gains are footswitchable as are the clean channel. If you have an extra footswitch you can turn teh chorus and reverb on and off also. It also has one of the most useable reverbs I have ever seen. It has chorus that works great on both channels. Its controls have: Gain 1 control, Gain 2 control, Contour control, distortion channel 2 high, mid, low and level. Clean channel control level, high, mid, and low. Master and reverb. The chorus rate and depth.

I am using a les paul custom with a 57 classic in the neck and a 500t in the bridge. This is my main guitar and it has more than enough bite with this amp to play the heaviest of metal. It will feed back like a banshee if you get right next to the amp, but most high gain amps do. I use a noise gate in the loop set at a low level and it takes care of the feedback. The clean is great and chimey but it freaking loud! It will distort at higher volumes, but if you can get it pastt three with the master on about three then you will be deaf and not even hear it by the time it breaks up around 7. The distortion is extremely brutal and will impale you if given a chance. It is also very articulate and you can make out all the notes even at the highest gain setting. Great distortion very versatile. you can nail the heaviest droptuned nu-metal to prog metal to 80's shred on gain2 Gain1 will get you anywhere from the blues to heavy metal. the clean is better than any fender I have played. I was nailing some SRV clean tones with it without a problem. With the chorus and an external delay you can get phil keaggy type cleans with ease.

Been playing for 5 years or so, and in a band for about 3 1/2. I own a bunch of mesa boogie stuff and peavey and and crate, and music man and fender. The randall is better sounding than all of the other stuff. I compared it to my mesa in a shop and the randall ate it alive. I also played it next to a soldano and a peavey ultra 212 and a used marshall jcm 800. I bought mine elsewhere , but the floormodel I demoed was better than all the other amps in the store. The only thing I wished it had is a noise gate built in to make it less likely to feedback at close range. Overall this is a great amp at a great price. I would put it up against any other amp for metal and feel certain it could compete with all.

Not sure when it was made, but it's brand new. Check the other reviews below for the features, as they have already been covered previously. I give it a 7, only because the chorus is fairly cool. Otherwise, it's a solid 5 - very basic features.

I play 3 Ibanez guitars, an S540, an S520, and an AR250, all with their original p/ups. These 3 guitars rage, stock p/ups and all! I play heavy/heavy-alternative music (ie. Ultraspank, Flaw, Headstrong, Mushroomhead, etc.). And, I play throught the BOSS GT-6 (That thing rules!).
This amp in no way lives up to all the hype about its distortion that has been previously mentioned in the other reviews. I bought it online, so I wasn't able to try it out first - very stupid! (BTW - shop at Music123.com - they rule and have awesome service!) Anyway, I went with the previous reviews, and was unfortunately mislead.
Let me just first say that the clean channel, indeed, makes this amp. I will agree that the clean sound rules and is probably the best clean sound that I've ever heard on an amp this size or smaller, and it's very versatile. I've played through too many amps to list. But, this amp does have very sweet clean sounds. Dipped with the chorus, it does sound very, very nice.
Now for the the dirt channels. If you love that mushy, muddy, boxy, tin-sounding distortion - the sound of having your balls wrapped in tin foil - then this amp is for you. The sound is very thin and there's hardly any bass or balls to it. Yea, it sounds sort of like Dimebag's sound, but from the "Cowboys" album, certainly not "Vulgar." Personally, I think that distortion sound down right sucks, on both channels. And, there's really no variance from that boxy, tin-sound. Brutal distortion? Yea, it's brutal - brutal to listen to, I'll give it that. If you stuff your ears full of tin foil and cram your head into a cardboard box, you'll get that sound. After all those glorious reviews, I couldn't wait for the damn thing to arrive. And when it did, I immediately set it up. Man, I was thoroughly let down. That's all I can say without going off on an even greater tangent.
Let me save all of you newbies that are thinking about buying this amp. Don't! I own another amp, the same size, around the same price, and it is SO much better! Believe it or not, it's the Peavey Special 212 TransTube Series with 12" Sheffield Speakers. The Peavey, although no stereo chorus, has TONS of variance for the distortion channels - anything from cool bluesy sounds to heavy distortion with thickness and balls. You should really check the Peavey out. It cranks, and is really "balls" above this Randall amp.
I'll keep the Randall, however. I need an alternative amp to mess around with travelling, etc. I'd rather keep my Peavey in mint shape!
Oh, by the way, the Randall's clean channel saved the score for the overall sound rating. Otherwise, I'd give it a 2.

I've been playing for 15+ years and have been through a ton of guitars, effects, and amps. If this amp were stolen, I wouldn't get another one. I do love the clean sound, however. But that distortion sound ruined it all for me - I simply hate that sound! I chose it from the reviews of all the amps in the same size and range - man, was I mistaken!
Anything I wish it had? Yes! A better sounding distortion.
And, I'd advise newbies to check out the Peavey Special 212 that I mentioned above. No, I don't have any stock in that company or any others - but man, it's just so much better than this Randall!

This amp fucking ROCKS!!!!! I play Kramer Americans with Seymour Duncans. My Baretta sounds absolutely amazing through this amp. The clean channel just shimmers, even at high volumes. The first overdrive mode (which has its own gain knob) has a really nice fat tone. I was plesantly supprised, my old three channel Marshall's first O.D. had that shitty "electric razor" sound but this one is so tube like its scary. The second overdrive mode is where the fun begins. You can dial in all the Regin in Blood, And Justice for all, and Vulgar Display of Power sounds. This amp is very quiet and very LOUD. This amp just BURIES my old vs100. Simply incredible!!!!!!!!

The only thing I wish was different is the footswitch. It should toggle between all the options not just two. I mean, there are two footswitch jacks in the back why not just have one footswitch that does four functions?. With the exception of the above this is the perfect players amp. With all the different voiceings and power it is perfect for playing live. (if you buy another footswitch) I got mine used but I understand they are only like $400. new so if anything happened to it I would get another.

Features: The features are pretty much perfect, not over done with a bunch of unusable stuff, although it is advertised as a 2 channel amp, it really has the same as other amps (i.e. Crate) advertise 3 chaneels with the 2 separate gains. I like the fact the channels has there own eq's as all amp's should. The chourus is nice as well.

Sounds: I use a Les Paul with Humbuckers and a Gary Jacobs with Semore Duncun Humbuckers. The clean sound is absolutly extradionary, regardeless of the price, this clean sound is up there with the most expensive amps. The distortion I do not care for much, it is more fuzzy sounding then gritty, I will most likely use my stomp boxes for that.

Been playing over 20 years, had Marshalls and a Legend and a Kustom. I am on a tight buget now and could not spend a lot. I bought the Crate GX1200 Head first, it has a lot of potention but it hummed to much and feedback a lot as well on the gain, so I returned it. I like the Randall better, the features, its made better, and the sound, (although the Crate gain was better sounding except for the buzz and feedback? If any one has any tricks for making the Randall gain sound better, please email me. Thanks....

This is one kick ass Solid State amp.I love everything about it.The clean channel is very nice, the built in chorus adds a nice touch. The vintage channel is very, very awesome....proabably my favorite channel. Its very warm for SS amp,It gets a very nice classic rock sound, with the gain between 1-4 it gets a sound very similiar to a JCM-800.And OD2 is just flat out BRUTAL!! This channel will do anything from 80's rock and metal,to nu-metal.I can easily dial in that "Vulgar display" tone from Pantera no prob.Im playing an Epiphone les paul custom with a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, and that pick up is just perfect for this amp,cuz this amp is a HIGH GAIN MONSTER.But the two OD modes are pretty differant.

I play a Carvin DC135 S/S/H.Mostly old rock(Zep,AC/DC,...)and getting into some of the newer stuff also. The clean channel almost shimmers and with the built in course it pours out old Rush style sounds.Gain 1 is very good despite what I have read here in other reviews. On 2-4 you can get old style Marshall sounds easily( think JCM 800 ). Gain 2 anything from Pantara to in your face knock-your-balls off stright ahead rock(think 80,s...later Whitesnake, XYZ ). Volume anyone? If this amp only has 100 watts i'd kiss your ass. This thing is the LOUDEST amp I have ever owned. JUst so you know I've owned Marshall's Half and Full, Mesa's , and numerous others and this amp stomp's the shit out every thing out there. 'NUFF SAID.The only reason for an 8 is it takes some tweaking and tuning to get a perticular sound but a good sound can be had in a matter of minutes.

The RG 100SC 2X12 combo pushes 100-watts RMS through two 12"Celestions to deliver a full, powerful sound. Both the clean and the overdrive channels have a three-band EQ and they are footswitchable. The RG100SC also has a master reverb control and a built-in stereo chorus. The lead channel features two types of overdrive voicings, "Modern" and "Vintage".

My current rig includes a Fender Yngwie Malmsteen model that I used to test this amplifier with. The HS-3 pickup is not as hot as the stock Fender pickups. On the clean channel, this amplifier virtually shimmered. Very loud, usable, CLEAN power was available and the Chorus is surprisingly good for an in-the-amp type of effect. The Vintage voicing in the overdrive channel produced believable tubish tones reminiscent of an old JTM45 run full out or a 60's era Marshall. The Modern setting was full on monstrous gain that still retained a tube-like warmth. Notes flowed like butter and sustain was singing and violin-like. The EQ's actually work and I was able to get Mesa Boogie-like crushing gain or Marshall JCM 900 sustain for those Malmsteen passages. The Reverb is deep and lush-sounding. The level adjustable effects loop is very quiet and useable. This amplifier sounds great at all volume levels. Randall's "Constant Current Circuit" design produces the most touch sensitive tube-like response of any solid-state circuit design out there.

Randall has a long history of producing professional quality sound reinforcement and this amplifier is no exception. In the early Leo Fender days (1940's), Don Randall was Fender's chief amplifier designer. He left to pursue more radical designs and this amp is the culmination of that goal. Solid state, hand-wired, USA made quality. It doesn't get much better than that.

I've been playing professionally for 18 yrs. and I was getting ready to spend a lot more on an amplifier from another manufacturer. The Randall just moshed all over the competition. The only thing I would say to improve this amp is to make the overdrive voicing modules footswitchable and to install separate volume controls for the voicings. Built in digital effects processing would be a nice addition as well (a'la Line 6 or Crate).

The only thing (since I have it a 9) that this amp doesn't have, is another switch for the chorus/reverb. You can either plug the switch into one slot, and toggle between gains (vintage and modern) .. or toggle between reverb and chorus. I don't want to have to buy another switch, but if I have to I will. Other than that, you can power 2 4X12's easily with the 100 USEABLE watts that this amp packs. It has an effects loop, that actually works.

Absolutely amazing. This amp was placed next to a Fender Chorus amp.. a 160-watter, and when the Fender was on 9.. the Randall was on 3.. and you couldn't even hear the Fender. For the money, this is the best amp you can get. This is the only amp I'd ever want, besides a Warhead. If you like metal - you will love this amp. There's no reason for paying $2300 for a Mesa, when you could spend $400 on a Randall RG100SC and pay a fraction of that. When I see an everyday Joe with a Triple Rectifier, trying to play Pantera, or anything of that nature - I think to myself, "what a dumbass."
