The Randall RG100SC features:
1 Clean Channel, 2 Overdrive Channels (1 is a cleaner Overdrive, the other is a more modern Distortion, Reverb, Stereo Chorus, 2 12 inch Celestion 70/80 Speaker/drivers, and a midi footswitch, with an effects loop (in case you want to hook up rack mount effects), speaker out (in case you want to hook up to another cab), and a headphone out. It is a 100 Watt Solid State amplifier.

Sound Quality : 10
This thing has crushing, brutal sound. Its more aimed towards metal-heads. I play an ESP LTD EX50, hooked up to a Boss Metal Zone MT2, looped through a Boss Noise Suppressor NS2, routed into the clean section it sounds ultra brutal, and it adds a whole new realm of possibilities if you roll back the distortion on the pedal a little and switch on the amp distortion. It adds a certain layering that has this cool, mid scooped sound that is bass intensive, with chilling highs and just enough low end mids to make the tube lovers scratch their heads and say "hm... that sounds kind of tube-ish" My settings on my Boss Pedal are highs and lows 3 oclock, middle 7 oclock, mid frequency 12 oclock, and on my amp, the settings are (usually) on clean channel, bass 6, mid 2, treble 5.
Sounds pristine.

Reliability : 10
Solid State, baby. Never will break unless you throw it down a flight of stairs, even then it'll probably survive, this thing is a tank. Literally. Its heavy as heck, and if I have any complaint, it is that this thing weighs about 75 lbs by its self.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to call them. This thing will last forever if you take care of it, as long as you don't put it in a pool and turn it on I think it'll be fine.

Overall Rating : 10
I wish that it had an equalizer built into it, so it could be all the more versatile. As someone said in a previous review, if you hook up an MXR Eq, a Furman PQ3 or PQ4, a Boss EQ pedal, a Nady Parametric EQ, or heck, even a Behringer Parametric EQ, I think it'll work wonders and let you sculpt your sound a little further.
I love basically everything about this amp, except that its heavy as hell. By heavy, I mean literally, heavy, 75 lbs dead weight, but then again any really brutal amp is going to weigh a ton, so no real complaints. If you get it and want to gig with it, be sure to either get a dolly/hand truck to haul it or else you'll have back trouble, don't say I didn't warn you! lol. (either that or hire a roadie lol)

This amp is solid state (no tubes) amp with 100 watts of power running through two 12 inch Celestion 70-80s. I'm unsure of the year this amp was made - but it is a G2 version with a five button footswitch. It has two overdrive channels, each with their own control and a switch to select the OD channel. The OD channels have combined bass, middle and treble controls as well as a contour, level, reverb and middle voicing controls. It also has a clean channel which has a level control with boost, bass, middle and treble controls as well as a reverb control. There is a master volume control and a chorus switch with depth and rate controls. Input, phones and master power round out the front control panel. There is an effects loop at the back of the amp I haven't fooled with.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound quality of this amp is amazing and why I decided to post this review. I'm using an Epiphone SG 400 with stock Alnico (Gibson made) pickups in it. These pickups are passive (not active). OD1 is on the level of an AC/DC or Ted Nugent type sound. OD2 is much heavier with a Metallica or Pantera type crunch to it. The clean channel is pristine. This amp is loud and the only issue I've experienced is on OD2 with the OD2 control all the way at 10, the level set to around 8 and the master volume at 10. At that point OD2 starts popping - but I think that's because the amp was just not meant to be pushed quite that far. Could be due to the room it's in - everything starts rattling at that point - I thought the windows were going to pop out of their casings, so I didn't leave it there for long. Overall this amp has a huge sound on all channels and the sound quality is very, very, very high. OD2 is my favorite. You can dial in just about any tone you want by fooling with the very responsive tone controls and fooling with the levels. I don't use any effects with it at all like I've had to with other amps. Just not necessary.

Reliability : 10
No problems whatsoever. This amp is built so solid and is so heavy I think you could run it over with a truck and it would still work. Think along the lines of a Mac truck.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with Randall. Don't expect to due to the quality of the amp, though.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
If this amp were lost or stolen, I'd replace it with the same model. It's the best amp I've ever owned. Much better than any Marshalls I've had experience with.

*** this is an update to a post I made 3 years ago- it might help someone!*** 2004 model-see my post from 2005. This amp is full of features and is a load of fun and there's a few things you should know before buying one.

Sound Quality : 7
I basically now use a Strat and a Dean explorer. I play metal, blues and heavy blues/prog. This is where I would like to explain what I have experienced in the past 3 years since I have had this amp. It is not loud..my 1980 Peavey classis 212 vtx is a 65 watt and is louder when distorted but this amp is slightly louder ( who cares if it doesn't sound like metal) on the clean channel as the Peavey tube amp has hardly no head room on it's clean channel. This amp has a sterile clean channel ( no noise, no distortion at all) and the eq's are basically useless and it is very flat sounding. Enter a 6 band EQ-- Dime Bag ( God rest his sole) used a 6 band MXR EQ on his old Randalls and what a difference. I tried the same and ...MAAAAN! YOU TRY THIS-- run it through the effects loop- get a lopsided V ( more bass) and it solves the flat clean channel sound. Now, the distortion. The gain 2 I have just stayed with usually at 8-9 as it has more gain and bass response- this amp really has a great low end crunch - on my Dean I chug a muted B I can vibrate every silly ornament off the top of the amp and off the shelves in my office/studio!--I can just see the speakers bouncing about 3 inches in and out in slow motion! The chorus adds a horrible sounding " distortion" while playing with it on- clean channel it's not bad. I really dont think this amp sounds good with a single coil guitar- You can blatantly hear why blues players use tube amps. My Strat sounds Ok but pretty good through a Tube Screamer or FAB-1 through the clean channel. I have gigged with this amp a few times and with the gain 1 channel at about 3 and my Strat pickup on the second setting from bridge- it was a decent slightly dirty chicken pickin' sound that I could manipulate with force of picking- not bad for a solid state. This is a metal amp period. If you want to sound most excelent with a decent portion of mojo with hot sauce, go ahead and get a tube amp and all the work that goes along with having anything high maintenance and beautiful. Anyone who likes metal that will spank your ass red ( and the spank will be consistantly the same everytime it happens) and when you play for 5 hours with it at full blast, knock it down and call it Shirley and it says, "thank you sir, may I have another" you will appreciate this amp!

Reliability : 8
I had some wierd problems with volume fluctuations at high volumes when I first started playing out with it. I found that you need to have the overdrive volume as low as you can get it and keep the master volume as high as it will go to avoid this strange overdrive overdrive glitch. I never found out what it was, but that soved it- I have a long and complicated signal chain which may have been a factor. It has cleared up and works fine now. This thing is pretty tough. I've had it 3 years hauling it around and it's been fine--no tubes... muahh haa haa haa

I have been playinh almost 30 years, If stolen, I probably wouldn'r buy another but for a great metal amp-- its worth every cent! This is solid state, a metal amp. It's gain is huge but still compared to a tube amp, it seems there is something missing when you play a single coil or back way off the gain. This amp surpasses any tube amp for clean sound despite it's lack of EQ on the clean channel which can be remedied with a stomp EQ. When I was searching for an amp back in early 2005, I played Crates, Peaveys and Fender tube amp and just couldn't get enough gain and the distortion sounded too gravelly and raspy. The Marshall solid states sounded good but were slightly out of my price range- also they had widely known cooling fan problems. The Randall I looked up on the internet and drove an hour out of town to try one. I thought, "this is the one" - you can play them quiet with massive gain unlike a tube and the distortion sounded smooth and the chorus was cool built in. Oh...I wish it had a drink holder.

The only thing keeping this amplifier from getting a ten here is that fact that it only came with one pedal that had two buttons. As others have mentioned, you can only use it to switch between gain types and distortion on/off OR you can use it to turn on/off the reverb and/or chorus. I broke my first pedal but it can be fixed (not recommended while under warranty as it will be replaced for free). It's just a simple problem with the cable breaking at the entrance of the stompbox. I also bought myself an extra so that I could switch everything remotely.

Sound Quality : 10
Clean channel is very good. It has a wide range of tonality. I don't use it much as I'm into heavy music. I have not heard any distortion of the clean channel at high volumes.

Distortion is amazing. I have to STRONGLY disagree with Jordan on this one. There's a more classic gain and a modern gain. Both are extremely powerful. I haven't seen any problems with balancing volumes at all. The distortion channel has a bit of noise if the amp is poorly grounded or the guitar's pickups are of low quality.

Both channels have 3 band EQ and level controls. I said I'm into heavy music so I have some bias toward the distortion tone. There are gain knobs so if it's too intense you can probably find a medium.

Reliability : 10
I would never bring a backup to a gig with this amp. I don't think I've ever need to fix anything besides the pedal. If you have the amp and you're having problems with the pedal, DO NOT rely on it! It's just not worth the risk. Essentially, the problem with the pedal is avoidable as long as you don't put much strain on the chord where it enters the pedal box itself.

Customer Support : 8
Warranty is good although I've never needed anything besides a replacement pedal and after I fixed the second I'm pretty sure I'll never need to rely on it.

Overall Rating : 10
I just wish this came with a four button footswitch.

I love this amplifier.

Made in 2002, solid-state, 3-channel (clean, gain 1, gain 2), 100 Watt. It came with 2 footswitches, one for channel/gain selection, the other for chorus/reverb control. Equipped with 2 12" celestion seventy 80's.

Sound Quality : 9
This is where this amplifier really caught my attention. The clean channel has a nice and clear sound, the chorus and reverb are really good. The gain 1 channel overdrive gives a nice crunch for rock n roll and heavy blues, the gain 2 distortion is decent enough for 80's heavy metal, but doesn't have enough gain to deliver a sound that suits modern metal. The overal sound is very heavy and bassy.

I play an Ibanez RG prestige model equiped with a seymour duncan invader on the bridge, I use a Boss MT-2 distortion pedal to get a more modern distortion. This combination really adds up to a great sound, even when playing live. As an alternative you can use a compressor on the gain 2 channel, this also delivers a more modern sound.

Overal I can say that this amp suits metal quite well, but you'll need to boost it's distortion to get a modern sound.

Reliability : 10
This amp is very heavy, it's made of decent materials and doesn't have any really weak spots. I never had any trouble with it during the 3 years I own this amp, it has withstood live playing easily. The footswitches also are built very decently, never had any trouble with them.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never had to deal with the company.

Overall Rating : 8
After reading the previous review I felt obliged to defend this amp. It really is a very good amp, especially in its price class. It's strong, very heavy sounding, and has good reverb and chorus. Recommended for metal and heavy rock.

Overall:

Plus: very heavy sound, reacts nicely to distortion pedal, strong, mean looking.

Minus: weighs very much, gain 2 is too weak for heavy music, a bit basic features.

I guess it came with everything you need. An extra foot switch would have been nice, the one it came with only had 2 buttons. You could switch channels or use it as an on off for the reverb and choris. Not both.

Sound Quality : 7
The CLEAN sound on the amp is good. Probably the only thing i liked about the amp. Add a little reverb and choris and this amp sounds amazing. The distortion is another story. First of all, in order to try and balance the volume between the clean and distortion channels the clean has to go lower than 1, and the distortion has to go on max. You would think it would be the other way around, but it's not. As for the distortion, (the amp has 2 different distortion sounds) i didn't like them.

Reliability : 1
THIS AMP WAS BROKEN ALL THE TIME!!!

Ok, where to start. The foot switch must be crafted by a kindergarten class. I went through 5. After the first one broke within the first 2 months, i realized the cord was very fragile so i tried hard to take care of it. Didn't work. No matter how light i coiled it up, they kept braking.
As for the amp itself, the reverb went, the imput for the guitar broke, something internally shorted out and it was stuck on the clean channel, and the second distortion(the heavy one) wouldn't switch on (from the amp or using the footswitch).

I played a lot of clubs with this amp (when it worked) so it seen a fair bit of use, but this amp wasn't used hard enough to always be broken. It was never dropped or anything like that.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The store I bought the amp from did the repairs.

Overall Rating : 1
I have been playing for over 12 years. I use an american fat strat (texas special) and a tribute g&l asat. The best move i made was to sell the Randall and get a fender deluxe tube amp. I use a rat distortion box and it sounds amazing.

DO NOT GET A RANDALL AMP.

I bought this amp a year ago based on the fact it was going to be a heavy metal and or hard rock amp and i was far from dissapointed and them some!!! This amp rocks the house for anything from classic hard rock like AC/DC to intense metal such as lamb of god. It is suprisingly versatile and sounds really bassy/crunchy. Some complaints however, go to the clean channel which is less than tonefull when played with emg acitves. I use an Ltd ax400 with this amp and the overdrive sounds crushing, however on clean it is a little dissapointing. The clean boost option is simply a volume boost which may be usuefull for clean solos. The clean is also a little distorted at high volumes but i don't use it much anyway. This amp suits most styles very well epsically the heavy kinds. When cranked loud it sounds great allthough be carefull not to stand close to it when the volume is on 3 quatters to full because the feedback will kill you. Un fortunatley for 100watts it is a little quiet and has to be cranked a fair way up for small gigs, jammin and rehersal. The mid vocing control is realy good for pure neck pickup solos as it adds a colour to the sound but it id better left off for the brutal music. The contuor is reall good when turned up for the vintage sound rock and roll. Great additon to the sound quality.

Reliability : 8
Ok this amp is without doubt a solid brick. I have smashed it against hard walls(by accident), cranked way loud at gigs carried in a bad position in my car and nearly blown it up and it has never overheated or changed whatso ever. It is as i mentioned above not the loudest 100watt amp cpmbo available but it can handle high volumes without any problems. I would bring a back up to a gig as i have not played continuously at a gig for over 30 mins but it so far seems to be great.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not had to deal with them but i hear they absoloutley suck balls with customer support so you are better off getting it fixed elswhere if it breaks down.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing for 2 and a half years and i have owned a 10 watt kustom, a real cheap guitar and an awesome guitar and this randall is one of the best pieces of music gear i own. If it were stoen i would be heaps pissed and i would see what i could do about replacing it. I love the ovedrive and the verstalitly (except from a jazz point of view..) and the clestions are fantastic speakers. I would have liked it to be louder than it is but for 750 aussie dollars and a 5button footswtich it is great value. I would recomend this amp to anyone except jazz players! Rock on and try it out9 espically metal heads !) it really is a cool amp.

I'm not 100% sure but,I think in 2004.(I wish it were noted somewhere on the amp). This amp is excellent for the type of music I play, everything from Rock, heavy metal to Blues. This amp has 2 chanels with 3 modes,1 clean channel, which is very nice and is used for the blues,1 distorted chanel(Marshall esque)which I use for the 60's to today stuff and some blues for that edge I mentioned,1 very distorted channel which absolutely kicks your balls into your throat!!I call this channel the Randall channel. It has channel switching, effects loops, headphone jack,5 button foot switch, and stereo chorus. This amp has all the features I was looking for and I use these features as each song predicts.I use this amp in my home studio for practice and for recording. This amp has all the power I need and more.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a 2001 Gibson Les Paul Standard with Alnico pickups.I also use a Gibson 2003 SG Standard with Alnico pickups, and an 80's Fender Stratocaster. This amp is excellent for the style of music I play, which is mostly Rock-n-Roll(60's right up until today),Heavy Metal(Metallica to Godsmack) to blues with an edge, such as Clapton and a really great player named Coco Montoya. The only noise(humm) I get is from the single coils from the Strat(only on the distorted channels, the clean channel is good to go).I use a Boss noise gate, and my problem is solved.I really work the settings for optimal sound production and not just for volume. If I need more volume I'll run it through my Pa.The variety of sounds are really great, you can get anything from a 60's British Marshall sound,to a modern metal,to a really clean sound.Remember all you need to do is experiment with the knobs and buttons,You'll be truly amazed at what You will discover. The clean channel sounds great at any volume. The distortion is as brutal as you could ask for,it is absolutely awesome! Randall has created the sound that all others must now follow.

Reliability : 10
This amp is really dependable,I have used it on gigs without a backup. This amp has never broken down.It is solidly made and I doubt it will ever brake unless I really neglect it by using a sledge hammer or maybe a chainsaw. If you spend your hard earned money on something that you hope will make you rich and famous......why neglect it?

Never had to deal with Randall. The store I purchase the amp from recieved the wrong foot switch for the amp.I returned it,they ordered a new one at no cost to me. Very good service from Cintioli's music in Phila. I highly recommend Cintioli's Music for anyone how lives near or in Phila. check them out,you won't go wrong.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 20 years. I use a Marshall 1936 extension cab with it to give me that half stack feel, and the sound is truly amazing. If it were stolen or lost,I would purchase a new one. The thing I love about it is the sound is truly amazing! I don't hate anything about it.I compared it to other brands and chose Randall not only because of the price but, the sound and features it offered, and plus when on line reading reviews...I found others comments very helpful. Most people seemed very happy with their amps Thats is why I checked it out. So thank all of you for writing your comments.

This review is for the RG100SC from 2002, not the new G2 series. They are essentially the same thing, but mine only has a 2 button footswitch. The weight is my biggest problem with this thing - 80 lbs.

Sound Quality : 7
I play Husker Du/Sonic Youth/Guided by Voices kind of musis with a variety of guitars and a Rat.

Clean Channel - 9/10: This is the only channel I use. It's far more powerful than the OD channels and takes pedals better than a JC-120. My Rat sounds great through this. I was shopping recently to see if I wanted to upgrade amps and I was pretty disappointed with just about everything I tried. The Marshall DSL/TSL series really sucks in my opinion and the JC-120 is only usable for clean. The Mesa F-50 and a plethora of Fender amps impressed me, but they were all like $700 more than the Randall, and not worth it.

OD 1 - 7/10: One of the best SS on-amp distortions I've heard, but still felt a tad weak compared to the Rat through the clean channel.

OD 2 - 6/10: Heavy, but felt quiet even when it was loud (if that makes any sense.) With a BBE sonic stomp and an MXR EQ it could be brutal, but you might as well just play a Metal Zone through the clean channel.

Reverb/Chorus 6/10: These are both decent, but I never use them.

Speakers 6/10: Celestion 70/80s are pretty darn good for cheap stock speakers, but they lack a little umph and jangle.

I'm giving the sound quality rating a 7 because people always rate crap too high or too low. This is a perfect 7. Bang for your buck, on the other hand, is an 11.

Reliability : 7
One time it just started cutting out when I played too loud, but that was a year ago, and it hasn't done it sense. I'm still playing really loud too.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 7
I can't help but think that if Randall made this thing just a single clean channel amp with reverb and put in better speakers, it would be the ultimate pedal player's amp. A lot of people use twin reverbs and JC-120s to get a clear palette to lay their effects over, but I think this amp is just as good, if not better, than either of those in that aspect.

Bought it new, forget exactly when... maybe 2002?

Solid state, a solid 100 watts, 2-channel with included footswitch, spring reverb, stereo chorus, plenty of jacks for anything you'd want to do with it. An amp this size needs wheels though!!! No wheels.

Sound Quality : 9
Like everyone says... Great, powerful clean sounds. Chorus is Ok if you keep the rate low. Reverb Ok, not great. Built-in distortion works well for some things, but isn't extremely versatile. Especially hard to get bassier or "scooped" tones out of it. Maybe just the way the crossovers on the tone controls are set up. Sounds great using pedals / processors for effects. My guess is the distortion channels were designed to be a little easy on the amp / drivers since the price was so low... Less warranty repairs.

All and all, great clean sound and headroom for the money. Way smoother and punchier sounding than something similar from Crate. Love the way this amp seems to cancel out "squealing" feedback and still let you play with more musical feedback when distorted. Built-in distortion seems a little on the noisy side. Not real bad though.

Reliability : 4
Have to complain here. Don't play it loud that often. Once I did and a 3-pin IC just jumped off the main PC board. Solder didn't crack, connector pins just broke in half. There is some wiring close to the part. Looks like whoever put it together may have caught the part with the wiring and bent it over, maybe straightened it out weakening it further. Could be that vibrations just caused the Part to rock back and fourth untill the pins broke. Didn't take any chances, hot-glued the new part to the board. Just glad it was something I could spot and repair myself. Think there were some strange noises at higher volumes before the part jumped off. Could be others complaining of noises at higher volumes are having a similar problem. The main PC board is very large, thin and flexable. Possibly a cause of this or other problems. Also, main PC board is only secured with 4 screws on the back. The front is held in place only by the controls and jacks mounted to the front panel. Probably not a great idea using electronic parts / connections to hold a PC board in place in something subject to that much vibration. Wouldn't be at all surprised if I had trouble with the jack / control connections down the road. Think one reviewer already mentioned troubles with the jack connections. Would probably be a good idea to have a backup with this amp. Sad to say about a solid state.

Otherwise, construction quality looks really good for the price. Very sturdy cabinet and drivers. Parts quality looks good. I guess you do have to take the price into consideration. Not so bad considering...

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them. My problem happened after the warranty expired.

Overall Rating : 7
Been playing casually for about 10 years. This is about the only truely good sounding amp (with pedals) I've heard that I can afford. The Peavy Bandit 75 and Crate Amp (120 watt 2 12", also quickly developed problems without being abused)) I owned previously just couldn't compare sound-quality wise.

If it were stolen... I don't know... Might have to spend more and get something built a little better... don't know what these days though. If I couldn't come up with more $, I guess I'd do it again. Just can't buy anything else that sounds this good for the $. Low rating only due to reliability issues and the fact that I believe these are caused by a careless design and bound to happen sooner or later. Extra point given for excellent sound, sturdy cabinet, nice drivers, full set of jacks, and low price. Won't do you any good if the amp doesn't work though!!!

This amp by Randall has now been discontinued I believe. It's not on their website anymore, but I believe it's probably made in 2004. Has two distortions and clean. Gain 1 is your bluesy, vintage distortion and Gain 2 is for the heavier things, ala 80's metal Metallica, Megadeth etc. The gain doesn't surpass these genres. Some have said it's the heaviest they've heard but I don't think it can keep with the metalcore and death metal tones.
I am really surprised by the footswitch. It's built like a beast. Has clean boost, not sure why a boost wasn't added to the gain side. I use the amp for practice and I jam with some friends. I haven't had to chance to rate it against drums, but I hear it works out just fine.
Has headphone jack and speaker outs which is really nice to have. and effects loop with volume control.
Two 12" Celestion seventy 80's. This was really a determining factor for the amp. These speakers have a huge magnet and speakers can really make or break an amp. This is definitely a plus.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm playing through it with a Washburn strat-copy as of now. It's mid 90's and probably internationally made with SSH configuration. The clean channel is so crisp and really cuts through. With a little reverb and the chorus it's fantastic. I honestly cannot think of any solid state amp that has better clean than this. It's fantastic. Doesn't seem to have a lot of bass frequency but the sound makes up for it.
You can get about any sound you desire out of the gain side. From Stevie Vaughn blues, or a nice metal chunk. For musical styles that require a lot of palm muting this amp is defintely for you. It's get that beautiful chug, chug, chug effect.
Sounds well with detunings. I keep it a step down [D], and haven't noticed it not being capable of that range.
But if you want a terribly brutal distortion the best bet would be to get a Boss Metal Zone through the effects loop or clean channel.

Amp seems to be built like a tank. It's pretty heavy, really sturdy. Not sure about the insides because i did notice it vibrating a bit with the distortion, but not enough to cause a problem. Five year warranty with Randall, was really happy about that. Couldn't tell you if I'd gig it without a back up and I haven't had it long enough to break down. I made sure to get the music shop to order me a new one instead of the one that had been in the store. Who knows who's done what to that amp.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with the company. They shipped it nicely packaged with corner protectors on the amp. only thing they could have done better if they needed to, would have been to bubble wrap the amp, but that may not be necessary.

I've been playing for about seven years have played Peavey amps and checked out some Crates. If it were stolen I probably couldn't afford to replace it. I love the stereo chorus and the speakers really turned me on to the amp. I compared with to some Crates and a Peavey. The Peavey was nice as well but a little bit more expensive. It was along the same lines as this amp.

I can't wait to get the volume turned up on this thing and let this thing scream.

This amp was made in 2004. I play anything from metallica to Rush to Led Zep to country rock. What got my attention to this amp was...well, let me tell you, I thought I had to have another tube amp to get clean distortion but this amp is smooth and I like a built in chorus. This amp has 3 channels, a clean and two gain channels. The EQ's are pretty versitile and I have been used to only 2 channels with EQs that don't do much ( Peavey Classic 212-1982 model). The effects loop is essential and has a level pot. Headphone jack sucks. The voicing feature I haven't figured out if I need or not. I have had this amp about 2 months and it suprizes me gradually everytime I play through it.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Carvin Ultra-V, a Kramer Striker, and my workhorse is an Electra Phoenix. The Electra has a pre-amp and the Kramer has a Bridge DiMarzio. This amp gets a great 70's and 80's hard rock sound. It's smooth BUT not loud. Now... I also bought a Randall 212 Cab with Celestion V-30's and it sound fantastic paired with the combo. But, the clean channel- this is the JEWEL. Play a good distortion effect throught this channel and you Will knock something off, including your eardrums. I got temporarily caught up in that " solid state is not as loud as a tube thang ( with distortion it's accurate). I tried the comparison with my Peavey and the Randall was brutal on the clean channel...you know when something is so loud that it hurts your ears and you can't help but laugh?!.

I haven't owned it long enough to test reliability.

I have been playing 26 years and own an Electra Phoenix, a Carvin Ultra-V, a Kramer Striker, an Aria Pro Hollow Body, a Sigma -Martin Acoustic, an Ibanez cutaway acoustic and an Ibanez Bass. I play through Zoom , Boss and Arion pedals. I own a 1982 Peavey Classic 212, this Randall RG100sg combo with a Randall 212 cabinet. I was so impressed after a two year search that I would buy it again or buy the Head version. I love the power in the clean channel and the versatility of the distortion channels. I tried all the Peaveys, the Crates, the Fenders and the Ibanez and of course the over...well the Marshalls. I was shooping for my first amp when I was 16 and found a Randall 410 combo and the sales lady at the mall wouldn't let me play through it so I settled on the Peavey at another store. I always had Randall in the back of my mind.

Not shure wen this amp was made..believe its 2002. Im in a band that plays rock music, rock covers....ACDC,Led Zepplin,Queens of the stone age, that kinda stuff. Killers, Hives nowadays too. This amp covers it all. I run an ibanez rg350dx with dimarzio pickups through a boss me50 or a boss gt8 into this baby. It sounds unbelievably good. I read someone said that this amp sucks...and that they run high end equipment through this "piece of crap" and i'd like to say that isn't true. This amp is currently 600-700 USD. So it's not cheap, and it's definetly not crap. Solid State..and it does not weigh a lot. Lift some weights if you think it does. You shouldnt even be playing guitar if you can't lift the equipment. but moving on....comes with a 5 button footswitch. GREAT channels, i especially enjoy the clean. I run lots of effects with the clean, so i dont care much for built in channels, but i have to say they are really good.

Sound Quality : 10
I purposely picked the rg350dx. Humbuckers are the main pickup, but it runs a single coil inbetween. I got dimarzio super distortion on bridge, paf pro on neck, and hs3 on the coil. Sounds like jesus. no joke. Rock music is definetly amplified by my guitar, and then with an amp like this, its just great. Clean channel is great, probably one of the best cleans ive herad. and distortion is just brutal

Reliability : 10
Solid State amps don't need tubes, so they rock. But i would definetly use this without a backup. This thing has never broken down on me....so i just it in gigs.

Customer Support : 10
Roland developed the first concept for an amp, and theyre company is very friendly and helpful. I've never had any problems with anything, but i have called on several occasions for enquiries. The warranty on this 100 watt 212 is 5 years, so im set for another 3.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 5 years, i got a few guitars, an epiphone standard lp, a Glp standard, 2 ibanezs, a fat strat, and a yamaha. I got a mesa boogie rectifier head through 2 4x12 cabs. If it were stolen, id probably buy the same thing. The only reason i dont use my full stack is because sumtimes im just too lazy to cary all that power. Pa systems dont compare to this amp either. home practice, gigs, everytin works with this amp. I compared a line 6 spider ii 212 to this, and theyre clean sucks. the modes are practically useless since you have to turn them off manually unless you have a 70 dollar footswitch.

Just read the reviews below, they've done an excellent job...
I havnt bought this amp yet, but I did play it for about 4 hours in the music store... As far as features go, well, there are a lot, wich means you can generate many different tones with this amp... Im giving it a 9 cuz sometimes it took a while to find specific tones, but hell, afte ryou've found the tones you want, it's not hard to find those settings again...

Sound Quality : 9
I was playing an Ibanez DT200 Destroyer (loaded with "Powersound" pickups) through this 2x12, and it sounded killer. It sounded crunchy, heavy (Gain 2) but also light, twangy, coulurfull and sweet (with the cleen chanel of course)... As far as Gain 1 goes, I did'nt stay there too long, cuz I'm mostly a MetalHead, but it sounded verry much like the early rock type of sound (LED ZEP. AC/DC...) Gain 2 sounded AWESOME... I didn't "play" with the FX, but next time I go, I'll be sure to try them... I'm giving this one a 9 cuz I dont own it yet, so I dont know if this baby will "die" in a couple O weeks or not...

In the past people have written quote "NOTHING LIKE A RECTIFIER!"...
Well... DUH! Even though this amp isn't built with like... 24 tubes, it still sounds incredibly good (awesome CRUNCH... verry HEAVY)... And for 100$ less than the Marshall MG250DFX, and about 1000$ less than any Mesa Rectifier, I'll be sure to put this one in my room verry soon indeed...

Im using a ESP EX351d with a EMG81 in the bridge and then into a Marshall Jackhammer,Boss metalzone mt2 then a Arion 7 band eq.I dont really like the gain2 setting cause i havent really found the right sound with it.The gain1 however i love,i have got a nice early Metallica sound which i also play Grungey stuff and then by turning down the bass and gain i get a great early 80s rock sound
Now my favorite is the clean channel, just awesome its what i was after cause i already loved the sound on my Jackhammer but combined with my eq pedal and the clean channel ive got that metallica crunch from and justice onwards.I love it,my neihbors dont.I give it a 9 cause of gain2 but i dont need it anyway

Its been said but, clean, 2 gains - 1 is higher, 2 is ballsy-er, reverb and stereo chorus. It has contour control but on the distortion channels only. It comes with a foot switch but the switch will change only chanel/gain OR reverb/chorus. Plus its got the standard lineout, effects loop, cd in etc.

Sound Quality : 7
I'm using a fender fat strat and its sounds pretty good on the distortion channels. Gain 2 is nice and heavy. The clean channel is way louder than the distortion channels and can sound good with tweaking but on my guitar at least, I need to set the tone controls way different for clean, than with either distortion channel. It makes switching mid song difficult. The reverb is powerful but not the greatest sound. Chorus is decent. Its VERY loud and hissy when I have it hooked up to single coils.

Reliability : 5
I've owned it for 6 months and gain 2 just blew on me. Gain 1 also seems to be fluctuating...no good. I've never dropped it or anything like that, the outside seems to be built well, but I do play it hard and loud. Still it should go that quick, if at all.

Customer Support : 7
I took it to get fixed and the tech guy at the store says everything is under warranty for a year but, he still cant find out why exactly it stopped working. Might be just him, but he's been doing this for years.

Overall Rating : 6
Its a great back up amp if you mic it. Its not loud enough to play a real club. I mean you can hear it over the drums no prob, but the audience can also chit chat over it no prob. Not what I personnaly am going for. If it hadnt blew on me I would have rated it higher but...

2003 Amp. Very Versatile amp.....

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using this with a Paker Fly and a Gibson Flying V.
I've Had Mesa, Marshall, Line 6, Behringer, Vox's.... you name it.
I own a studio and do tons of session work so I have used a ton of gear in the past 20 years. This is one of the best amps I have ever came by.

Here is a little critique to some previous reviewers. I have no idea what was wrong with your amp but my gain sounds are awesome. Close to Soldano but a little darker (I've owned a SL100).
Of course, the best gain sounds come when I push the volume up to 7. Before that it's crappy....kind of like a tube amp...is that so bad?
This is a 100watt amp that needs to be pushed. The speakers need to move to get tone.
Still, I've recorded with this thing and got the best gain sounds ever...and yes, totally metal. (Warm sounding metal that is, not the crappy muddy Korn, Nickelback, Slipknot sound....I'm talking Maiden, Priest, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Nightwish.......).

Reliability : 9
Again, what did they do to this amp to break it? Mine has been going for 2 years solid, no problems, no noise, even volume on all channels....No problems.
This thin g is heavy because it's built like a rock.
I've gigged with this amp and has been on some bumpy rides...never broke.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I live in Illinois 30 minutes away from Randall. I'll drive there If I need them.
Never have had to that though.

Overall Rating : 9
Closest "tube" amp without tubes (which is probably why the idiots who slammed the amp don't like it....they probably can't play with a tube feel amp....go back to your Line 6 spiders....).
I just got another one to keep at my studio and one for the road.
Over all, if it were stolen, I would buy another one.

I bought this amp in the fall of 2001. It has a lot of stuff in it, meaning the knobs (lots of tonal variety) a few built in effects which are decent, and jacks on the back to drive a cabinet or two.

Sound Quality : 1
Ok. Most of the other people that have made a review on this amp gave it a very high rating for sound quality. I dont know how that could be. Both the overdrives on this amp are extremely under powered compared to the clean channel (which is the only channel on this amp thats worth anything). The overdrives are thin, and completely without tone. You cant thicken the sound up with the bass because it just rumbles and buzzes and sounds muddy. I've noticed a lot of the people that give this amp a 9 or 10 for sound quality are upgrading from a 15W Squire or somekind of cheap distortion pedal. Another thing I've noticed is the rest of the people have really high end things, like marshall cabinets, Mesa rectifiers, les paul guitars, and so forth... very high end gear like that. So that makes me wonder, why did they bother with such a cheap piece of crap amp such as this one, when they can clearly afford such great gear. Even if its bought used. This amp is definately a huge waste of money and there are far more, and far better sounding amps out there. You cant get any kind of good metal tone out of it like everyone else here has said, its too thin. It has no beefiness to it. Its thin and very artifical sounding. I was very disappointed when I recieved my amp (I ordered it online, didnt get to try it out first, big mistake) I expected huge thick raging beefy metal tones. When I turned the overdrive on, complete crap. It sounds like steel wool on a tin can. Flat and sterile. No tone. Honestly. Look around for a different amp. If you MUST have a Randall, get one of their more expensive amps. This one is a waste. I'm just trying to help you people not make the same mistake I did. If its your first "big amp" or you want somethign with a better distortion/overdrive than your pedal. This amp may sound nice to you... but it cant even compare to other amps out there. One fellow even said it blows away a Mesa and a JCM. Thats a complete lie. This thing has such a horrible overdrive. Save your money, or get another model. This one is a major flop.

Reliability : 5
Its very VERY VERY heavy. Way heavier than a 2x12 should weigh. I have a halfstack that doesnt way as much as this thing does. But its build like a battleship. I dont think it'd break if you hit it with a baseball bat. But its extremely too heavy. You'll hurt yourself over and over if you have to drag it up stairs often like I do. Lots of bruised shins.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them. So I couldnt say.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing for around six years. I've had a good bit of amps in my time. I wanted a good loud amp that was movable so I wouldnt have to drag my halfstack everywhere, since i have no cargo room in my car. Complete disappointment. It sounds absolutely terrible and it weights probably 50lbs or more. Not worth the time, money, or effort deal with this amp. Look into something else. You'd be doing yourself a major favor.

This solid state amp is extremely versatile, but aimed more at the rock/metal players. Giving 2 distortions is clever, as it give more possibilties(you can even use the two together, i.e gain 1 as a normal sound and then gain 2 is louder, acting as a lead boost). The built in reverb is good, if not too strong, and the built in stereo chorus is just as good as a seperate stomp-box. The fact that you get a foot pedal is great, and that the foot pedal has 2 functions: Pedal 1 can be channel switchin and pedal 2 controls which gain type is selceted, which is good for rock/metal people, OR pedal 1 toggles reverb and pedal 2 toggles chorus, which is great for example a jazz player. You can also adjust the chorus rate and depth, as well as the reverb level. For the overdive channel there is a gain knob for each gain, and a contour, bass, middle, treble, and level knobs. For the clean channel there is a level knob, as well as bass, middle and treble knobs. There is also a 1/4" head-phone jack, which is great for late night playing while the family/kids are asleep, and to top it off there is a master level knob for the extra power. The back of the amp features left and right inputs for 'external' and speakers, a line out jack, and a 'send' and a 'return' jack, each with their own level knob. There is also a grid type area to let the amp breath. It's Jam packed with features!

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Jackson RR3 and Gibson Les Paul on this amp, and I bought because I am a pure power metalhead. For this type of music, Gain 2 is perfect. There is so much tone, saturation and sustain. If you set the EQ right you can get a perfect power-chord chugging sound, without the bass foaming through. It's so powerful, big and brutal it blows your head off. Gain 1 is less distorted, a bit like an over-drive, which is great for classic rock such as Led Zepplin etc. The clean channel gives any Fender tube stack a good run for its money - it is amazing, simply amazing. The EQ knobs on the amp are so sensative, such a large variety of sounds is possible -anything from a smooth, mellow jazz sound to a twangy funk sound to a rich rock/ballad clean. I must say though the clean channel is louder, i.e if both the distortion and clean channels are set on 1/10 (MORE than enough to hear your self very well in your room) the clean will be louder. The amp has 2x12" speakers, so its plenty loud enough to jam with bands, or even gig in small venues. Another great thing about this amp is the rich, rich tone and awesome sound stays just as good as the am gets turned loud (belive me - at 7 it hurts your ears. Wake the neighbours!). Noise levels on the distortion channels are the same- if not less - than on all other quality amps. An amazing sounding amp.

Reliability : 9
Built like a tank. It has the default plastic with the leathery texture that most amps have. It has metal plates over the corners, top and bottom. Screws are extremely sturdy. Would use without a back-up with no worry. it has a90% closed back which is great as the speakers are protected, but access is available. Foot-pedal is also built very strong.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No-problem yet, but was given a one-year warranty, which is fantastic.

Overall Rating : 10
This is the best Amp i have ever owned. If your a metal/rock player, this is a perfect choice. For say jzz and funk musicians, I would not neccessarily reccomend this amp pruley for the reason that there are other amps aimed at your style of music - but don't make that stop you trying this! As you have read in this and other reviews, the clean sound is phenominal. A truley amazing amp.

i see a lot of people saying the first distortion isn't that great/or is too weak

well most of you are metal guys im sure, and for those of us who like the classic guitar tones from Zepellin and shit, first distortion is perfect

i can recreate "in the flesh" by Pink Floyd so well i actually prefer listening to myself play it then the real version, ha
the second distortion is too muffled for my likings, but ive been toying with it and ive gotta good sound now i used mainly for open chords

overall this amp has great sound, clean setting is beautiful as well.. first distortion channel gives off a great twang sound, perfect for stratocasters.. second is much more crunchy, great for you metal dudes

and i really find putting your Reverb half way up does so much for this amp

Fuck im happy

CLEAN! CLEAN! CLEAN! It may cause much disbelief, but the clean channel is absolutely perfect for jazz. Great headroom, nice balanced sound. I play semihollows (Gibson, Hamers) in an OGD trio and this amp works very nicely in that context. It compares favorably to my workhorse Polytone. However, this amp must be off of the floor (use an amp stand) otherwise the bass resonance is difficult to control. Don't use the chorus, reverb or distortion.

Overall, a good clean amp for gigging. Stumbled across it purely by chance as I was looking to find a replacement for my Polytone. When the stars are in alignment, I can get pretty close to the tone Wes had on Smokin at the Half Note. For my purposes, it serves me well.

This is a great combo. It is very affordible. And it has reverb and chorus. 2 Channels for gain and one clean. If you run a distortion Pedal into the clean channel you get almost a Tube volume. Its not one of those multi amps where you can get the sound of anything out there. Its just a good amp

Loud. Has the ablity to keep up with a 100 watt Kitty Hawk amp running 4 Celstions. Very good distortion channels. The vintage is my fav but you can get a very heavy dark distortion on the 2nd channel. I play a Strat through it and can get a Humbucker sound on the 2nd channel. Can run it to more speakers if you need it louder.

2001 model. We play rock from the 70's right up til the present. This amp is my primary for gigs. Has reverb, but I never use it, we let the board effects do that for us. You've read all the features from the others, so I won't bother.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using an Ibanez with the V1 and V2 pickups, and an Excalibur LP model, with humbuckers. The amp is everything I wanted. The clean channel is superb, and you can always rely on it to sound the same each and everytime you plug into it. The OD's are good, but not happy with the buzzing that they create, I'm gonna try to resolder like the other guy was talking about. Gain 1 is a nice Marshall Modeling sound, and perfect for 70's rock, where you don't need that punch. For lead and more recent rock, I kick it to the Gain 2 channel. The thing that I like about this amp is that you can play at lower volumes, and get the same soound that you would if you cranked it. The only thing I noticed at higher volumes, is that the bottom end fills out more. But I mike my amp, so I usually keep it turned down. But if your looking for an amp with a clean channel so you can hook up all your stomp boxes, this is the amp. It would be niocer if they could get a better 'metal' sound for Gain 2, but I'm not gonna bitch. That's what stomp boxes can do for you.

Reliability : 10
This is the only amp I use as of the moment. It's been service free for over two years, and I would buy another in a heartbeat. I used to own the 75 watt model, and it sounded exactly the same.

I've been playing for over 20 years and have had the Peaveys, Fenders, etc.....This was the first one that I said I would buy again. I love the fact that everytime I turn it on, I know what to expect as far as the sound goes, as opposed to a tube amp, where you rely on the condition of the tube for your sound. Besides the hiss on the gain channels, the only thing I wish Randall would have done is put casters on it!!!! 70 lbs isn't that much til you have to tear down a full PA system and load up after a gig at 3:00 in the morning.

i bought this amp new...3 channels[i guess].as far as i'm concerned--it has one useable channel[clean].'''a feature that i wish it had---i wish it had'''-- a headphone jack that worked...one that cuts off the speakers when h/phones are plugged in[mine doesn't work].....i found this out one night[late]this =a very angry wife........

Sound Quality : 10
as most have said here---the clean channel makes this amp..it very much kicks butt....the two distortion channels very much suck---and i mean they really suck...i'm keeping it for the clean chan.it sounds great.if i want dist.-and i do---i'll buy a good pedal.the two celestions are also very good.[for clean it gets a 10]...

Reliability : No Opinion
it feels solid---time will tell.....i'm playing a hamer artist u.s.a....also played a hamer u.s.a.blitz with a floyd---and a ernie ball silhoutte special----on all these guitars, the dist. channels soundes like crap...on the clean, you will say ''wow''.how can this amp sound so good on clean-and so very bad on the dist.channels.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i have a call in to randall right now, they don't seem to know whats up.couldn't give me an answer on the h/phone problem.said he would call me back???he seemed like he wanted to help me.i told him the dist.channels sucked---he agreed,at least their honest/////

Overall Rating : 10
i've been playing for around 10 yrs....i would buy it again[[for the clean channel]---if you buy this amp....it will be for the clean side...if your looking for distortion, look elsewhere--you won't find it in this amp..or be ready to try out a few effects pedals.thats what i'm doing.again, the clean channel is fantastic.a 10 for clean///

Two twelves, two distortions, includes a footswitch, stereo chorus with rate and depth and reverb with a level control (these two effects are also footswitchable). Headphones, effects loop, line output and headphone output. I play punk, occasionally delving into ska, and the features are more than enough for me. Occasionally I'lll turn on the chorus and I always use a teeny bit of reverb. The only problem really is that the clean channel is soooo much louder; I usually have it set at 4 while the distortion's at 10.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it through a humbucking Epiphone SG, and it sounds great. The clean channel, as others have said, is superb and really responds to your pick attack -- with your guitar's volume knobs cranked and a hard attack you get a little bit of overdrive. Roll back the volume for a smoother sound. It only overdrives a little, and not super noticeably. The clean channel is loud. The distortion is perfect for what I do. I gauge distortion based on the 'peppiness' of rapidly palm-muted chords, and this one has crunch while still pushing out the click of my pick. There is a little noise, but that can be expected from a high-gain distortion. There are EQ controls for each channel, as well as gain and contour controls for distortion. I played around with them a while ago and you can get a range of sounds, from harsh punky distortion to 'scooped' midrange-lacking metal distortion. The first distortion kind of sucks for what I play -- it's too weak. But the second one is perfect. I love the sounds of this amp. It's no Marshall, no, but why copy a tired old sound? It's loud, too: I've never used it past 6 or so on the volume knob.

Reliability : 9
This thing's been dropped, stood on, and generally pounded and has survived for over a year. It hasn't broken down yet. I DO gig without a backup. The only problem I've ever seen is when other people use it; a friend in another band played through it and it kept cutting out, I think it might have been his guitar because I had no trouble when I played later that night.

Customer Support : No Opinion
It took a long time after I ordered it, about two months. This is probably the fault of Musician's Friend. I've never dealt with customer support, so I'll leave this number blank.

Overall Rating : 10
This amp is the perfect size for me. Any venues bigger than what I play and I'd probably just mic it instead of getting a bigger amp. It even has outputs for extension speakers, which I've been meaning to try out someday. I'd buy another one in a second. My friend (the one who had trouble with mine) bought a smaller version of this and loves it just as much as I love mine. This bad boy is loud, has good solid-state distortion, and plenty of punch.

I love this amp for its sounds. The clean is super clean and the overdrive channels are just what I was looking for.

Reliability : 2
Now this is where the amp is screwy and I'll tell you how to solve it.
I've seen some reviews where people complain about noise at louder volumes or their amp on the Gain channels are starting to make a lot of noise. I too had that problem after a couple of months. I have found that the input jack breaks its soldering connections pretty easy and at loud volumes it would make a lot of humming noises on the dirty channels. All you have to do is invest in some silver solder and a good soldering iron and resolder the input jack. I've soldered it with regular solder before but I always run into the noise problem again in a couple of months. After soldering w/ silver solder (I actually resoldered most of the components) it even sounds better than when I first bought it and haven't run into that annoying buzzing sound again. It took me about an hour to take apart solder and put back together again. It was a pain but well worth it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with, I can fix stuff on my own.

Overall Rating : 7
This is a very awesome sounding amp. I play a lot of styles but mostly funk, thrash and speed metal. The only problem was the one mentioned above. The chorus and reverbs on this amp are excellant also. the only other problem is that the headphone jack doesn't truly bypass the speakers. This amp would get a 10 but the little nuances bump down a little.

2002 model. Suits perfectly for everything and is very flexible. I play mostly punky rock 'n' roll and i'm totally happy with it. Loud enough for gigging in most clubs and excellent partner in studio!

Sound Quality : 9
I play my Randall mostly with Gibson ES-355 and i really like the clarity and fat bottom of the clean channel, absolutely the best clean sound I've ever had - beats most of old Fenders etc.. I also threw away all my distortion pedals - this amp has great basic distortion for every situation. Personally I like to keep distortion level low for traditional rock sound but this machine is also perfect for headbang hammerin'. Stereo chorus is a nice option too and has a better sound than many pedals. Only thing I could ask more is bit more sensitivity (like tube amps), but you can't have it all, can you? Oh, and did I mention the studio. Awesome sounds. (wooden floor and U87) o-la-la!

No problemo - so far. Gig it, Kick it and Dig it!

I believe the amp is a 2002 model. It seemed fairly versatile when I bought it. I play all styles, but mostly metal. 3 channels, one clean, 2 gain...etc.

Reliability : 1
It's been in the shop once already for a fried gain 2 channel and broken reverb. The gain 2 crapped out the very next time I turned it up to 6. Now the gain 1 is crapping out as well. I bought this solid state amp for reliability, and it has let me down when I started demo sessions twice now.

There might be some lemons from this model line, from what I've read. I think we should all contact Randall together. I'm sick of owning a 100w amp that I can't even use for practice.

Customer Support : No Opinion
First time getting it fixed was no problem, but I don't want a good repair service, I want an amp that works.

Unless something is done to make reparations for this lemon, I'm never buying Randall again. Or related company products.

Question to Randall engineers / quality control:

If it can only take 4, why does the knob go to 10?

and, no I don't have anything between my guitar and the amp.

This amp has what i want, a clean powerful chanel. 100 watts is nice, the celestions are great, and the built in chorus sounds great too. Effects loop could be cool, i don't know, i never use it.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a washburn n2 with stock pickups, and i like the sound. The clean chanel is bright, and crisp. Sounds great with little or no mids. Its been very quiet, hum wise, for me.
The overdrive chanels suck. I never use them. They have no power at all. Crank them to 10, and barely hear them, turn the clean to 2 and get out the ear plugs.
Basically, the distortion sounds great if you get a pedal to make it that way. I reccomend the boss metal zone.
All in all, it sounds great to me because all i want in an amp at this point, is a good clean sound that i can manipulate with boss products.

Reliability : 7
Mine has been reliable so far. I like the amp a lot and reccomend it, i just recomend getting a screw driver with it. Mine shakes all the screws loose all the time. My buddy's just blew up, at this point we assume a few key screws came loose.
Get some lock tight, and its as reliable as any good amp is.
Oh yeah, the reverb sounds like its always on. I think its just a loose screw actually. Its not good reverb either, it sounds like a reverb kick all the time.

3 channels. Classic distortion. Heavy distortion and clean. I think it was made in 2202. Suits me style weel anything from Aerosmith, Zeppelin, cream, hendrix, metallica, salyer, pantera, nevermore, anthrax etc..
Came with footswitch for cahnnel switching or reverb chorus switching. The clean channel is exrtremely loud. Incredible.

Sound Quality : 7
Im using a gibson sg with emgs pup orn epihpne les pual with emg pups. The distortion is good for home or practice use. Its heavy if want it to or classic. My pups are very powerful so that only helps. I dont think this amp will be any usegul with passive shitty pups.

Live I run my marshall jackhmmer and my marshall guvnir pedals through the clan channel. Let me tell you that the sound is amazing. Very full with just the right amount of bass and trble. I can go anywere from metallica to zakk wylde to jimmy page to joe perry. WOW!!! The marshall pedals really make this amp shine.
There is some noise on the gain channels buts a hi gain amp so this is normal. The clean channel with my emg pups do distort at hi volumes but I know its no the amp its the pups. I like this ayways so I dont mind. The distortion can be a little thin. Be careful with the bass settins cause thay can make tha amp fart.

2002, this amp is versatile enough for my playing style (cover band plus originals-heavy to blues) 3 ch.-clean, dirty, lead. effects loop, headphone jace, line out, speaker out (stereo) so you can add a cab, The chorus is great on clean but otherwise I keep the rever under "2". This amp is powerful enough with 100 watts and the option to add a cabinet down the road makes it worthy.

Sound Quality : 9
Fender Eric Clapton Signature Series Strat, Lace Sensor p/ups. Amp is noisy on lead channels, but not any worse than I've heard before. The clean channel has good headroom at high volumes. The distortion can get brutal but I like it beefy with bottom end so gain is not so much as important as the contour feature which I think is great for this amp.

Reliability : 8
I feel I can depend on this amp, it is solid and well built. I will gig without a backup. The amp hasn't broken down and I take good care of it.

I have been playing for 15 years and from the reviews I have read on this and many other amps leads me to one thing. Players have to realize what they're buying and what they're wanting out of an amp before they buy it and then find out that it's not what they wanted and end up posting their complaints. This is a SOLID STATE amp meaning no tubes...get it? If that's not what you wanted then save up your cash and get the rectifier and let the rest of us enjoy what we purchased. No solid state amp will ever have a clean channel on par with the distorted side, I had a Marshall Valvestate and when you were at "gig" volume and switched to clean the thing would buzz and distort all over the place. You have to understand how the preamp is reacting to the voltage, ohms, guitar, etc. and realize that most of these amps won't calm down when you switch to clean so yeah, you'll have to set the clean channel way down to accomodate...but remember that's what the Master volume is for...crank it or don't....either way, shop around and if you don't like what's out there, keep searching, keep saving and have a little patience before you just drop 400 bucks on an amp you might not end up likeing...I can say this, you won't find me dropping that kind of cash on an amp only to get it home and realize it's a piece of crap...I shop, read, research and check out any gear I buy and maybe some of you limp bizkit wannabe's should do the the same. Why bash an amp in one of these categories and then score a 9? Get real and get to the point.

I don't know what year the amp was made. This amp is the best i've played besides an original Super Reverb. This thing is awsum. My fav. bands are red hot chili peppers and at the drive-in. This amp covers them both really well. IT's very versatile for all styles. it has three channels. A clean that is awsum. the natural dist is very sweet. just crank out the level and adjust the EQ, and you got a very good blues tone, and it pulls off my John Frusciante style very very very very well. The second channel is an overdrive/dist channel which i don't use alot but when i do it does a dirty blues very good. Classic rock and Rock rythym sound. This is good channel for rythym and non-super heavy sound. The third channel is awsum for heavy metal thrash. I use it a lot for a good solo. Like rhoads or vai stuff.
Oh yeah it also has a chorus which i don't use alot because i have a processor. But i love the reverb. It has a beautiful ring. It's so sweet. I use it alot for just for jams with my friends. I've only played it for two gigs and it did great. One was a friends going away party and we only played two songs but i loved the tone and it was very balanced with the rest of the band. IT could have been way way louder but it would have blown away the other gear there. The other time was when this band that i was in played a homecoming football pep-rally. The gym was big and old. The wood on the floor sucked up all the sound of the band BUT. Our drums,my randall, and my friends princeton 65 which was stacked on my randall, cut right through the whole gym. My amp was barely on notch 2 an a half and IT came through awsum. This amp has a ton of power which i have yet to use it to the max but i'm sure i'm getting there sooner or later. By the way did i mention this is a solid state. This is one awsum fucking solid state.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Squire guitar, nothing special with single coil pickups which are soon to be changed with dimarzio pickups. Its suits my style very well. I play everything emo, rock, indie, thrash, metal, shred, jazz, blues, alternative, punk, funk. It is noisy cause of the feedback, but since i have my processor, it has a noise reduction so i no worries. You have to be carefull with the level and the bass. The bass can get a little weird but i don't have that big of a prob with it. The clean channel will have a natural dist if the level is cranked a little too high. But otherwise it's sooooo sweet. The heavy channel isn't super heavy but since it has a contour knob, you can dial in a alot of different scooped sounds.

Reliability : 9
I depend on this amp alot, and sooner even more because i'm in a jazz band now and i'm gonna take it on the competitions. It has never broken down. I have never had to call the company for problems and i hope i will never have to.

Customer Support : 10
Never had any problems with the company and i hope it never will happen. i know a five year warranty came and i sent it but i don't know if it became valid

Overall Rating : 10
Like i said the Greatest amp i've played aside from the fender. I love this amp. If was stolen or broken i would go and buy it again or more powerful randall amp. The only problem is the foot switch. It should be three or four instead of just two. But other wise it's fucking awsum.

This is a 2002 model, 3 channel, one sweet clean, and 2 switchable distortion channels. This thing is very flexable...from Stryper to Setzer, no Problem...the countor knob on it is sweet...the chorus is nice, adds a nice subtle sound to a lush sound...the reverb with the clean channel hits that Dick Daleish fender sound...this will be used for a praise team, and my metal exploits...this is perfect for my needs...100 watts is alot...if I need more volume...I'll go get a 4x12...
the switch is very quiet...for 369, you can't go wrong...
I am not a fan of onboard effects...but the chorus adds a nice touch...but I am glad that they didn't add anymore to it...

Sound Quality : 10
I use an 86 Kramer Baretta (US), and a Epi Flamekat, as well as a martin D-15. I also will use this for Harp playin' with a Astatic JT-30.
My Styles range from Metal, 80's stuff, Glam, and Aerosmith...as well as setzer, SRV, Johnny Lang, and B.B., the Cure, The Red Elvises, Duran Duran...
Noisy...hmm...on the drive channels they have a little hiss...but that is expected...much less than my Worship leader's Fender tube amps though...The clean tone is what I expected, smooth...lot like the Fender DSP 160watt amp...it does not distort, unless you want it to...crank the gain on the clean channel, and it gives a very smooth distort, switch the channel, and my brother steals your guitar and plays the "And Justice For All" songs, all night...
Ok...side note...I came up during the 80's with Stryper, Crue, Poison, Warrent, Winger, Alice and Metalica...I love that sound...and this amp gets me darn close...
I was also looking for something that would be a really powerful Harp amp for giging out...this can do it easy, with a beautiful tone...

Reliability : No Opinion
If I had the skills, and would tour, I'd by a second one (they are so cheap) just in case, but I do trust it...I just like to have a backup amp just in case something happens...
too early to tell...One really nice surprise was the knobs...metal...super smooth and solid...I think it would take a hammer to knock one off...(but lets not find out)

The handle on the top...sigh...when will companies learn that the top strap handles are great for 30 pound or lighter amps...but are way dumb on something this big...come on...it is not as heavy as my SWR Super Red Head, but they (SWR) had the brains to put side handles on it...I refuse to trust that little handle...use a cart or two hands...
It is finished in a really attractive soft totalex stuff...nice, but looks like the second its scraped, it will tear...
the wood on this thing is the thickest I can recall seeing...

Customer Support : No Opinion
5 year warranty...
I bought this from Chuck Levens Washington Music Center
I would never buy an amp or anything from mail order...unless direct from the company...I refuse to hurt the local merchants...I get better prices and better service, and great advice from them...and oh, I need strings tonight...I can go get them...If people keep buying from Musicians fiend and Music 123 and the like, we will not have any Mom and pop shops left...sad...
Go try it out before you take it home...so IF you think it sucks so bad...don't BUY IT...whine...if its a lemon...at least you don't have to pay shipping...

Overall Rating : 10
I been a bassist for a while, I hit drums, and try to look like a guitarist...but I do play a decent harp...
If stolen, they would hit the ground before they heard the shot...
I love its look, its sound, it not being a fender, its Price...
what do I hate...darn top handles...that and um nothing...
What do I wish it had? removeable wheels would be nice...that and a four way switch...
I compared it to too many fenders to list, as well as crates and Peaveys...and a couple marshels...I tried both tube and solid state...I like this the best, and hey its cheap...
For $369...come on...thats a no brainer...

It has 2 channels (clean and overdrive (with 2 seprate channels on that)). Each channel has its own EQ and the OD channel has a shape. It has an effects loop, foot switchable chorus and reverb, footswitchable channels. It is a loud amp, but thats where I hate this amp.

Sound Quality : 1
At high volumes, this amp S U C K S ! ! ! Clean or dirty, when you trun the bass up past two, it buzzes like all hell. Not only that, the overdrive channels are way too weak to even attempt to use them. The amp sounds OK at low volumes, but at high volumes, FORGET-A-BOT-IT! I tried everything, and all it did was buzz. I don't know how many times my singer swore at the damn this for sounding so bad.

Another thing!!!

The distortion sounds NOTHING like Godsmack, or Pantera's distortion. I know they use Randall's, BUT THEY ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND BETTER THAN THIS ONE!!! You can tell that the people that say it sounds like those distortions are in little metal/punk bands that won't go anywhere anyway, and this is their first "big amp". If you were to take sandpaper and rub it on a tin can, then you have the distortion that is on this amp.

Seems to be built like a tank.

I like the Warhead that Dime plays through (that amp sounds like Pantera, not this one! I wonder why?!). I have played through that amp many times when my friend let me. I like the more expensive Randalls that are out. But as for this cheap one, Hell-No!

everyone one else has done a great job of describing this amps features. stereo chorus, dual gains, blah blah.

Sound Quality : 5
i play hard rock. not tinny palm muted stuff, but crunchy and sustained modern rock style. this amp offers me nothing more than a great loud clean sound. i have honestly been dissapointed from the day i received the thing. i thought that because it was heavy, it would be able to handle some decent bass and the overdrive channel would have some balls. no balls. none at all. i have an lp with standard pickups, but seriously, you have to double the level on the the gain channel to get to be nearly as loud as the clean channel. that was the first thing that pissed me off. the second thing was that the chorus and reverb added a lot of shitty noise to my sound. i must have got yet another "bad sheep" because i couldn't use any of the functions that the amp provided. i just played through the clean channel and used pedals. which after i gave up on the idea of having a rich bassy tone, did start to sound good.

Reliability : 2
you can't just say..no tubes..the thing won't break. mine just crapped out on me. i have to have faulty components and i'm going to go get the thing fixed, but i've lost faith. i wanted to love this thing like i read that many other people had, but it's hard to love it when the thing obviously hates me.

the amp really is a good value, because the clean channel is so nice and loud and it is very cheap. i just wish they would take all the other worthless knobs off the thing because..if you are really picky about your tone and you think pantera-esk distortion sounds cold and hollow, the clean channel will be all you will use.

Besides the fact that Pantera uses Randall?
* The 100W is more than enough to sound off with the rest of my band. I rarely have to crank it up higher than 7 when we are full blast. The 150W Warhead Combo might be overkill... this suits me fine.
* The Three channels give me plenty of sound options.
* The only thing this amp is missing, besides a second input jack, is an IV Output that would allow me to pump it directy into my veins.

Sound Quality : 10
* The clean channel sounds nice and crisp, for when I want to play classic rock tunes, while the distortion channels just get the head banging. I can convincingly play the likes of Pantera, Machine Head, Hatebreed, etc. on the Second Overdrive Channel. Move over Tube amps, I like the sound of Solid State for Metal.
* The Dual Celestions rock over comperable amps I tested with a single speaker.
* All I wanted in an amp was for it to sound heavy... this one does it, but also gives the flexibility of playing more classical stuff on the clean channel.
* Powerful. I keep it under "1" when practicing in my room. When in the band room with a drummer and a 120W bass amp, I rarely have to put it over "7".

Reliability : 10
I haven't taken it to gigs, or tested it at full capacity (I haven't had to). For taking it to band practice and playing at home, it has been reliable.

I've been playing for about 2 years, mostly alone or with the band. We haven't played out, but I wouldn't hesitate to bring this amp with me.... it rocks.
I compared this amp with the Marshall MG50DFX Combo and the Crate MX120R Combo (each companies relative equivalent in price to the RG100SC). Bottom line, I was more impressed with the Randall Sound. To get the power of 100W out of Marshall I would have had to pay more and still only gotten one generic speaker. Randall has brand name Celestions which sound great.

Well here it comes... The Gain 2 channel suddenly started to sound like shit at a gig two nights ago... Sadly I did't have a backup amp since I believed this one would work. But no!!! So now I'm pretty fuckin pissed of at Randall so the can sell their shit to someone else...

I was planning on buying a Randall Cyclone stack the coming spring but now I'm not so sure...

No details required sice I just would repeat what's already been said. The power in this thing is enough for small gigs so for the price it's really great... I bought an another footswitch immidiately sine I wanted to be able to mix any effect on any channel...

Sound Quality : 9
Mostly I play with my ESP M307 with double EMG707. Metal, hard core, grind core etc...
Gain 1 sucks in my opinion but thats because it was meant to sound like that. Some people don't like fat distortion but I do, so I use Gain 2 and MAN it got power enough to kick serious ass with all other combos in this price range! Very good. The clean channel is very good. Now aren't the 707 the best pickup for clean sounds but with the excellent chorus and the nice reverb it sounds ok. With an another guitar and a single coil it would probably sound great!

Reliability : 6
Well, here comes the sad part. When I read the other rewievs I understood that I must have gotten a "black sheep" amp.
When I bought it i played for about 5-6 hours and the it just turned dead! I brought it back to the store where I bought it and a few days later I got it back (some electronic part had been loose inside of it!). So I plugged it in and played for 2-3 weeks and then it died again!!! Mad as El Diablo himslef I once again got back to the store. This time I believe he was a little embarrassed so he called Randall Sweden and the sent me a brand new one. The new one have worked reat for 4 months now. But I'm not trusting it yet...

Customer Support : 9
As mentioned above. The repaired the first one and then the second time I got a new one so I can't complain about that.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for 12 years and although I don't trust the amp I love the sound it makes so I would definitely buy it again. And since it's cheap if you consider what you get, it's nothing to think about. You can't get a better combo for this amount of money.
So if you are going to buy a fat combo. Buy this one!

This amp is very versatile, with the 3 band EQ on both channels. Everything about this amp is great especially its tone and power.

Sound Quality : 10
I play an Ibanez RG220 with stock pick-ups and play anything from oldies rock to new age hardcore, this amp plays any style great. And on the dirty channels it does get a bit noisy, so I just use my stomp boxes Void feature to get rid of that :) Clean channel is never noisy.. It sparkles when you play on it.

Seems to be built very well, no need for a back-up. Its solid state so you don't have to worry about replacing any tubes.

The clean on this amp competes with high class fenders. its absolutley beautiful. It distorted at first, but that was only cause the pickups on my parker give an incredible amount of output. So i used a DOD equalizer (just good as the boss 7 equalizer thing) to lower the overall output of my guitar, and this solved the problem. From then on the clean never distorted, even at HIGH volumes. However i soon ran into a problem. The distortion channel on this amp requires LOTS of guitar output to actually be brutal, otherwise it sounds like a skunk quefing, in a tin garbage can. The only way i was actually happy was to raise the output on my DOD EQ to the max output level (BEWARE, amp will feedback like HELL if you do this). The distortion suddenly came alive. on both channels (I don't know HOW ppl actually like this amps OD if they're not using the same technique i am.) My dilemma is now that i need more input for the OD and less for the clean, and its a drastic difference between the output levels. Don't get discouraged when you first get the amp, because it sounds SO much better in a band situation. Luckily, i am using this amp strictly for cleans and have a diff amp wit tubes for distortion. Other than this flaw, this amp ROCKS. Blows away any other amp in the price range. There's More gain than i need by the way. Def more than marshalls.

Don't buy shitty tube emulators, like AVT's. I have lots of respect for solid state units, just not when they try to emulate tubes. This amp does no emulation. it sounds warmer than tube emulators and all other solid state amps i've played (except other randalls). Best amp in the price range. Even if you use high grade tube amps, check this amp out for its clean alone. you won't be let down.

I use an ESP explorer and A DeArmond SG. THe clean channel is excellent like all the other people said. I play metal (pantera, metallica, Black Label Society). I have not been able to get this amp's distortion to sound heaevy enough- so I use a Boss Metal Zone pedal on the clean channel and it sounds great. This also allows me to use the footswitch for the reverb/chorus effects. The clean channel does not distort at high volumes (if you turned this thing up more than half way your brain will leak out your broken earholes). Someone else has noted that it is hard to find an amp in a descent price range that will supply you with a good distortion. Nevertheless, it is an excellent amp. It is the largest combo I have ever seen. There are also jacks for extension cabinets (4 and 8 Ohms). I just got this amp today and I still need to play around with the distortion to see if I can get it to sound like others claim it to sound like. I still give it a ten. I called up the Randall company (phone# found on the randall web site) asking about the low end sound that was a concern to some people- they told me that a Boss GE-7 equalizer pedal would fix any tone problem.

Reliability : 10
Just got it today and it still works...I think...let me go see...yeah it still works.
It is very soft.

Excellent amp for anyone. I have been playing for 12 yrs and it is one of the best amps I have ever played through. I can't say it is better than a Mesa because I have never played through a Mesa. If it got stolen I would buy another one. It weighs around 60 lbs- it's not that heavy. It's heavy enough to let you know that they didn't stuff crap in it.

I have found out something quit interesting about this amp in recent weeks. Had some new faces in band room along with any different guitars and guess what I found out. This amp hates (in DOES NOT LIKE) low output PU's. On the other hand if your ax has high output PU's or you run through a pedel of some sort your in luck. If the pedel deal is you then crank up the oputput level on the pedel and be ready for a suprise. The gain ch.'s, 1and 2, come to life. Found this out when some poeple plugged into this amp and all of a sudden I was hearing all this fuzz and weak distortion that poeple here have quoted but has not been the case until then. After playing around with some settings and pedels we realized that a strong input is what this amp needs to really shine. I hope this helps some of you who were disapponited with the amp after reading reviews here. I am really satisified with mine and hope no one here has any bad feelings toward those of us who have found ways to make this amp rock. Keep Rockin'

metal input jacks, (not plastic like most amps in this class), footswitch, stereo chorus, reverb, 2 OD channels, 4 speaker extension jacks, headphone out. built very sturdily, heavy as hell for a 100 watter. Randall did not cut corners on this amp.

i would like to clear something up. The Distortion SUCKS! ASS! its basically a thumping squeamish buzzy tin can sound that u can never really eliminate. there's alot of gain, certainly more than any marshalls. It is obvious that people giving rave reviews about this amps Od tone have either upgraded from 10W squier amps or own shitty pedals like the smashbox and metalzone. This sounds NOTHING LIKE A MESA RECTIFIER. Mesa rectifiers, think creed, godsmack, alice in chains.

The clean is the only reason I own this amp. its fender ultimate stereo chorus or princeton clean. and it has built in STEREO chorus.
Its not druggy grungy chorus. its analog so its warm and spacious. better than cheap ass BOSS pedals chorus. The reverb on this unit is excellent as well. its not like crate shit reverb. and its not an emulation of a room, it simply leaves a slight sutanance of ur playing. its solid state, nothing quite sparkles like it. never been a fan of tube cleans, too gritty. tubes are for distortion. i will most likely keep this amp for its clean tones, and use another amp for distortion (mesa, peavey, not sure). for my purposes (the clean channel) this amp rocks. for my purposes this amp gets a 10

i've owned and played tons of amps over several years of playing. this amp stands up to any of those ultra expensive fender amps. twin reverbs, black face. for cleans. distortion is terrible. it gets a 3, cause i've heard worse. but u should realize ur not gonna get a killer AMP distortion tone for $400 (some $400 processors can), its impossible, no matter what others might say. well nothing that lives up to ur favorite artist. overall dist 3, cleans 10, chorus and reverb rock. never seen a better amp for $400. actually i don't think i've seen a better one at $700, unless it was another randall. best cleans out there.

I use a parker P44 with a SH-PG1 Pearly Gates humbucker on the bridge. Other than that i use a Zoom GFX8 (Awesome unit) and a Digitech RP300. People who have raved about the Distortion channels on this amp are sadly mistaken. While they are very good for soloing, they have a weak low end (Even with bass turned to 10!), and are not very useful for making defined runs. The Gain 2 is pretty muddy. The Gain 1 is strictly for lighter soloing. These channels are simply too weak. For some odd reason, there is not enough volume on the dirty channels, more like 30 watts, and the low end fades away as u turn up the volume. So the OD channels suck, but i still love this amp. Anyone who is serious about guitar realizes that they cannot depend on their amps Distortion channel. U need pedals. The clean channel on this amp absolutley rocks. Its thick, lush, and never distorts. The EQ is absolutley beautiful. The EQ is not too fuzzy, and has bite. The Bass is pleasing and works excellently for heavy palm muting. The Reverb is very nice and analog, good for filling ur sound up a bit. The chorus is analog as well, VERY NICE, not cheesy sounding at all. However it will not get u a nirvana grunge sound. This amp is incredibly loud on the clean channel. its set too 3 on the master and 3 on the EQ, and it can easily blow my 400w stereo system away. I've played on a marshall AVT100 before, and this amp sounds warmer. I play system of a down, godsmack, creed, proach, nirvana, rage, fuel, and incubus stuff on this amp. I find its best fitting for heavier stuff. It has a great clean sound and works exquisitely with heavy dist boxes, but doesn't have the true tube tone to get you alternative or classic rock sounds. (On the other hand, i don't have equipment to get those sounds neways). Out of all the stuff i play, it sounds good when i play, creed, system of a down, proach, nirvana, and godsmack stuff. Tom Morello is just disgustingly good and has an unduplicatable sound. Metallica riffs sound great on this amp as well.
Great clean sounds, great high gain sounds.

Randall doesn't try to imitate, they have their own sound. Don't copy sounds, make ur own.

This amp is powerful, and amazing. It has 3 channels .. Clean, Light (Blues) distortion, and a Heavy distortion. It's a 100-watt Solid State amp .. but it is BRITISH RATED. So, that's 100 USEABLE watts. Marshalls are set up the same way. Let's compare it to you're car speakers. If you have a 45W X 4 setup, you aren't gonna get 45 watts out of one side unless it's cranked up and all nasty distorted sounding and stuff. Same thing with an amp. You aren't gonna get the current going enough to get 150 watts out of a Mesa Triple-Rectifier unless you crank it up real loud .. then you have the problem of the amp sounding like crap. Power? No problem, this amp has plenty of it.

Sound Quality : 10
I matched it up with my friend's Mesa Triple-Rectifier, and my other friend's Marshall JCM 2000 .. and this Randall blew them both away. I run the combo (which is stereo) through a Trace Elliot cabinet, and the sound it just wonderful. It is a solid state amp - so you don't get any of that nasty grit stuff that you get from a tube amp. You can make this amp sound like a Mesa, a Marshall, or a traditional Randall METAL amp, like a Warhead. Distortion 1, the light distortion .. when the gain is around 8-10 it sounds like a JCM 2000 .. and when Distortion 2 is around gain 6 and contour 10 .. it sounds exactly like a Dual Rectifier. This amp will play however you want it to, and tear some stuff up in the process :) I do recommend running this amp through a cabinet of high-powered celestions .. but if you don't have the money, then the 2 70-80's that come with it still hold they're own.

Reliability : 9
I've only had it break down once .. and I had the reverb, chorus, and distortion cranked to 9.5 on all channels (I don't recommend doing that) .. and it warped the board. The people at the music shop that repaired the amp said that it was just faulty components .. and that a couple bad transformers got placed in there. It was totally free to have it repaired .. great warranty. Other than that, I've gigged with this thing left and right and never had a problem.

Customer Support : 10
5 year warranty .. I have had a very pleasant experience, but I did have to drive to the other side of Baltimore :) I drove all the way to Selinsgrove, PA from Baltimore .. around 230 miles .. just for this amp.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall - if you don't buy this amp, and go for a 100-watt tube head .. you're wasting you're money. I found a Trace cabinet for 500 bucks .. and with this amp the cost of my rig came to only $900. That beats the hell out of $1600 for a JCM 2000 half-stack and $2300 for a Triple-Rectifier half-stack. You can get a great Marshall cabinet for around $550 (1960A) .. and have it sound just as good. So, if you want to save money .. and you want to have an AWESOME amp .. then invest in the best amp company around.

The clean channel is clear, and sounds clean at high volume. Distortion 1 is on the weak side, and not really good for metal. distortion 2 is not what I was hoping for. it sounded like heavy bass distortion, and thats it. The contour knob seems to just make it sound darker. I guess its cool if you just want bass heavy noise, but it wasn't for me. Plus the speakers sound like that want to give out at loud volumes, you would need an extention cabinet.
