Let's face it, you're not reading this review because you're looking for an amp with gazillion convoluted features and knobs. Thus there will be no rating out of ten as that's just silly.

I will also point out before I carry on to the review that the pictures of the Lil' Mo at Red Iron Amps are out of date, certain features I talk about are not shown in the pictures and do not do this amp justice at all. Now we have that out of the way.

As soon as I feasted my eyes on this 1 watt beauty I could tell this was a dish of a genuine tone connoisseur.

The Lil' Mo is true Class A with top notch componentry all handwired point to point (check out the site for specs). It comes in a rectangular shimmering powder blue heavy-duty cast-aluminum case, on one end it has a speaker cabinet out jack wired for 8 ohms but can handle 4 or 16 ohms with no problems. Next to the speaker cab out jack is your standard fare power switch and power plug socket.

At the other end is a 1/4 inch input for your axe, a nice metallic name badge bearing it's monicker, a bright blue LED pilot light and a chicken head knob for volume control.

On the top there are two tubes, mine came with a Sylvania 6AQ5A Black Plate and an RCA 12AV7, as stated on the website you can swap preamp tubes till your hearts content. Also mounted on the top is a chrome two way toggle switch that switches between normal gain and extra gain.

Adorning each tube is a circular chrome cage which will protect the tubes from most knocks and also doubles as a very nice showcase if you like shiny things. On either side of those cages you have chrome roll bars which adds that final aesthetically pleasing touch to this fine specimen of quality craftsmanship.

This proof is in the pudding or is it the sound, usually people write a review on HC because; A) to cry about how they bought something rotten or B) gloat about how they've found their new pride and joy for the nth time. I'm pleased to tell you that there is certainly nothing rotten about this tasty little morsel.

Let's fire this thing up, plugging straight in to the amp naked (no not me) without any effects nada. Using a USA 1994 Peavey Predator with Tonerider Pickups (City Limits strat set). Speaker Cabinet is a Marshall 2x12 25/50 Jubilee Series with 2 x Celestion G12H-30. These cabs originally came with 2 x Celestion G12T-75, blandest POS I've ever heard to be honest unless you play death metal or something equally as morbid.

With the volume on the amp at 10 'o clock and pickup at bridge position you can unleash glassy stratty tones with superb note articulation and touch response, because there is no tone control on the amp you will thank whoever put one on your guitar. Pickup position one click above bridge mellows out the bite with a nice rounded sparkle but providing sweet articulation for lead runs. Neck pickup really impressed me, chords have a very smooth organic sounding swirl as they decay- like a subtle built in phaser (if you've ever heard the Hughes & Kettner Cream Machine cranked then you'll know the sound albeit not as intense). Beautiful shimmer in all positions although I don't use middle often. In my configuration, the amp is clean up until about 1-2 'o clock. What you know about wattage and volume will be debunked when you hear this baby wail, it's a very loud 1 watt. Enough to upset the next door neighbours!

Getting down and dirty, since my amp has amazing amount of clean headroom I really had to dime the volume knob to get it to break up, it starts getting gritty at about 2-3 o'clock onwards from then on sweet sustain is increased dramatically. Ample amount of tube compression builds up as the thick and creamy goodness starts to ooze from the tubes saturating. The harmonically rich sound reminds me of why we still use vacuum tubes in our guitar amplifiers. Yeah one day we'll probably be able to model all those electrons bouncing around inside a vacuum tube but for now I have the real deal so why waste time with half baked technology.

The natural overdrive from this amp is very tasty but to best enjoy it you should consider getting quality speakers with lesser sensitivity like the Celestion Alnico Blue or Jensen P10R, otherwise it will be much too loud if you wish to keep it down low in your little apartment for fear of eviction.

This amp loves pedals, I habitually use my TS-808 clone with the drive set on 9 'o clock, guitar set on neck pickup which is enough to add a smooth but clear throaty crunch that cleans up nicely when I back off my pick attack and breaks up as I dig in. These mouth watering sounds will cause your ears to grow teeth and start drooling. I can't think of any other low wattage amp that will give me this amount of satisfaction from playing the blues. I can really wail and pull those faces like I mean it when I plug in to this baby, you will grin in your sleep as you look forward to your next jam. You've heard stories about guitarists falling asleep with their guitars in their arms, I think if they had a Lil' Mo...

In case you haven't been informed, Paul Sanchez' philosophy is to build his amps to survive nuclear fallouts so they may live on and dominate the planet. You could use this amp as a battering ram to get into fort knox or as a portable bomb shelter for ants.

On a more serious note, I am an international customer therefore this amp travelled a long way before it got to me. I was surprised that it made it here in one piece but when I powered it on I noticed the power on LED did not light up. I sent an email to Paul and he requested some photos of the innards and we diagnosed the problem to be a single solder joint that I could easily fix. Overall it did not bother me a whole lot since I don't sit there and stare at the LED.

The amp is solidly constructed, you could beat someone with it if they made fun of it's size and then go on to destroy some 100w Marshall Stacks with it and it would suffer no consequence.

Customer Support : 10
Paul Sanchez is a man of few words from my experience trading emails with him, he is quick to respond to any queries and seems to answer all my stupid questions succinctly. Initially I sent Paul a barrage of queries regarding the amp itself and about shipping it overseas. Once we got all that out of the way he quickly sent the amp on it's way. I received it in approx a week from memory.

I'm not sure how I would have this amp repaired if anything was to happen to it because I don't live in the US. I believe I could probably fix it myself considering how clean and straightforward the design is. A sign of a great amp, and the only reason I would be worried about it breaking down has nothing to do with the craftmanship but moreso never being able to hear such heavenly tones ever again!

Overall Rating : 10
In conclusion, this amp is for you if you desire that elusive cranked tube amp tone and feel at low volumes. However you must get low sensitivity speakers otherwise you won't be able to crank it late at night, it is too loud if you have speakers with 100db sensitivity and even 97db unless you're lucky enough to have a soundproof room or a basement. I don't know why people bother with silly attenuators on such low wattage amps, they suck the life away from your amp. Some claim they don't but they do, the best of the lot is probably the Hot Plate, but forget about attenuators you don't need one.

If you can afford it buy a Celestion Alnico Blue. I'm speaking to mostly those interested in wailing out some blues late at night of course, if you're not into that then feel free to use whatever speaker combination you'd like. But I must stress that your speaker choice is a integral part of the tone you will get. If it doesn't deliver enough gain for you, try swapping the preamp tube but in mine I think Paul got it right the first time and selected only the best tubes.

Right now I'm saving up for a Celestion Alnico Blue, I've already got a nice angled stage monitor cabinet for it. Then this baby will never leave my side ever!

I bought this amp over ebay, I was more intrested in it's construction than anything else. In fact all I did for the first couple of days was pop the back off and figure out how it was put togeather. It is as simple as the day is long. On/off switch, volume, LED light and that is all. I plug mine in to a Alnico Blue and it had so little volume I replace the 12AX7 with a JJ and we're off. I think this is a bare bones amp and I appreciate what it is and think it's cool beyond words. Having said that I would put in a standby switch and a tube rectifier simply because I could.

Sound Quality : 9
I started out with an SG standard with P90s and then an ES446s and Last with a Les Paul with burst buckers. The amp is very clean and very sensitive to pick attack. I would compare the clean to my '64 Ampeg ReverberRocket which is the cleanest thing I have ever heard but not so sensitive to pick attack, you really have to overdrive it to get there and by that time you realize an odd smell is comming out of the back of the amp and your thankful for the fire extinguisher next to your leg. It's a simple amp I've heard some say it is a push-pull, others say it's a Class A, I'm not sure you can have a push-pull with a single tube, I mean the whole idea of a push-pull is to amplify the bi-phasic signal, no? So must be a single-ended Class A. The power tube is a strapped triode, I'm told this a hot wired pentrode minus it's screen, odd choice and I'm not sure of the advantage but there you have it. I'm thinking 6V6 but you can't argue with success and this thing sounds great.

Reliability : 10
Like I said right out of the box it needed a new 12AX7 but then again the guy who shipped, shipped it with the tubes in place, go figure. Aside extreme abuse I can't imagine anything going wrong, there just isn't that much in there to break and this is a quality piece of work.

Unless you were giging in your Dr's office you couldn't gig with it, it's only 1 watt.

Customer Support : 10
Paul answered all my questions withing a day of me sending them off, and they were thoughtful answers. I trust the guy.

Overall Rating : 10
I like low wattage stuff, I mean I've got a couple of 50, 60, 100 watt amps but mother of god they are loud. I got a '55 Champ-amp, 5 watts and it is loud. Hence I use a attenuator on all of 'em because I like the distortion of a power tube breaking up much more than the shrill nonsense comming from the preamp. But the attenuator changes the dynamics of the sound, they say they don't but they do. Just like they say there is no difference between point to point wiring and PCBs but there is. A low watt hand wired tube amp is a god send. It gives me the tone in all realms without killing me in the process. 1 Watt maybe a tad weak, I'd like to make one with 2 watts and then 3 watts and see because there are always those moments when you want just a bit more. All my amps are tubes, 2 Prosonics, Model T, SoundCity, Sunn combo, couple of tweeds, Ampeg and a Peavy (don't laugh with a tube change and a Celestion Greenback it sounds good). Most my guitars are Gibsons, though I got a strat with humbucker, a stratles, and a tele though I don't care for the neck on either one. And I have a National Resophonic Resolectric, very cool.
It's a cool amp, buy one and you'll love it. I bought a new Epiphone Valve jr thinking it would be what I wanted, it wasn't, this is.

Pretty much none except for volume control. But less is more in my opinion.

Sound Quality : 10
This thing sounds fantastic! I was looking for a small, unobtrusive amp that I could put in the living room, and it is perfect. I'm running it through an old radio cabinet into which I installed a new 7" speaker. It really growls, and you can alter the tone/distortion immensely with just the volume and tone controls on the guitar (I play a strat and a PRS). Perfect for recording as well.

Reliability : 9
Seems very solid and well built. Had a few problems getting the tubes to "sit" down in the slots, but I don't anticipate any futher issues. Not much to break, really.

Customer Support : 10
With the above mentioned tube issue, Paul Sanchez was extremely helpful and kind, as well as fast. We spoke exclusively via email, and he sent me another tube right away. He also said if I had futher issues not to hesitate in sending it to him to have a look. Extremely good customer service.

Overall Rating : 10
I love the thing. Never really been able to turn an amp up to "10" before, but it is perfect for a dirty, distorted sound. Pretty loud, by the way, for 1 watt. Highly recommended.

The amp was made at my request (March 7, 2005). It has one input, one output, off/on swich and volume knob. Two little tubes stick out of the top, they arrived with amp. Can be used with either 8 or 16 Ohm cab. One watt. Those are ALL the features. It is purposely as simple as possible. Not versatile. However, it is a masterpiece at what it was made for: full-bodied distortion at lower volume levels.

Sound Quality : 9
With just a guitar into the Lil' Mo, it makes the old-fashoned, slightly breaking-up, bluesy guitar sound. I'm using it through a cheap Marshall 4x12 cab- and it tends to err on the side of dark or bassy. I have high-output pickups (SD Custom P90s, and DiMarzio X2N) in the guitars I'm using (Gibson PT SG, and Washburn CS-780), so it's always breaking up, no matter what volume. One might be able to get a clean sound out of it if they have extremely low-output pickups and keep the volume down enough- but like that it would be too quiet to even use. This amp cannot achieve clean sounds because it was not made for clean sounds. It was made for overdrive/distortion. Putting any distortion or booster effect before amp will make it overdrive to a full, creamy tube-compression. The distortion is extremely pleasant-to-the-ear, no matter what pedal I put before it. I used my Big Muff through it with the tone knob all the way up, and it surprised the **** out of me! It sounded perfect- not overly bright or brutal like it is through all my other amps. It was well-balanced and creamy and sustained, and so much warmer than I had ever remembered my Big Muff.
The Lil' Mo is neither a Dark amp, nor a Bright amp. It is tonally balanced amp that achieves bassy tones as well as bright tones (though the natural tube compression limits the bightness a bit). That's a very important point- the brightness of the amp is limited. But, The Marshall cab, I'm sure, colors the sound a bit too- probably making the amp sound darker than it really is.
Since the Lil' Mo has no tone controls, it is up to the pre-amps for picking the tone you want. My main pedal is the Radial Tonebone Hot British, which tends to be a little brighter than most distortion pedals. It brightens and clears up the dark tone a bit, quite to my liking. Actually, after seaching though many distortion pedals (Big Muff, Ibanez Metal Screamer, AnalogMan Tube Screamer, Fender Blender, Ibanez SM-9-808mod, Keeley DS-1, Boss OD-2r), I hadn't found the distorion I was looking for till I used the Lil' Mo.
With a distorion before it, it can be incredibly dynamic. With a pedal the volume can easily be boosted above its maximum- even to the point of hearing-loss. Using the volume control on your guitar can make it more or less distorted, softer or louder, very effectively.
I play general 80's Hard Rock (Hair Metal) to Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead stuff. This amp suites these styles well, except for the clean sounds. I play in my small bedroom. It is not noisy at all; it doesn't hum or anything; even with the volume all the way up it doesn't sound like the amp is on. One let-down for me is that I can't get post-amp reverb. If I put a reverb pedal before the amp, the reverb will distort and just not sound right. It would have been nice If I could get these awesome distorted sounds reverb-ed in the comfort of my own home.
This is an excellent sounding amp. With a distortion or boost pedal, it is guitar-heaven. But it's my duty to give it a 9 just because of it's limits on "cleanliness" and reverb. Then again, it wasn't meant to be an amp that does all that s***....

Reliability : 10
I've only had the amp for two months now, and so far not a problem. The exposed tubes could probably break easily, but of course, the tubes could be replaced. The unit seems solidly based.

Customer Support : 10
Paul seems very communicative and hospitable and he offers to fix the units he makes if his customers have any problems. I'm not worried at all.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 7 years. I own 5 electric guitars (many of which are cheap- excluding my Gibson Pete Townhend SG). I have a Peavey Delta Blues 2x10 combo, a little Fender solid-state practice amp, and a Crate 1x10 solid-state 30-watter. I have many different effects. I would definitely buy the Lil Mo again, considering it's price/value ratio. I was actually thinking of buying another one just so I can get this great sound in stereo! I'd like to try out the ZVex Nano Head for an educational comparison, but it's half the wattage and almost twice the price of the Lil' Mo! Not to mention the Lil' Mo is made by an expirienced professional custom tube amp maker, and the Nano head is by an effects pedal maker.
I play primarily for my own enjoyment at home, and this amp is perfect for that (and studio recording). I love that great distortion with just the right volume for my ears- no earpluggs needed! I don't hate anything about it... but sometimes I wish I could get reverb after the amp's distortion.

I play at little Classic Rock and Blues at home most of
the time and I needed an amp that could go from clean
to CRANKED without peeling the paint off the walls.
The Lil'Mo does a nice job of letting me use my guitars
controls and picking technique to achieve a great range
of tones. To my ear it sounds like an old Vox with more
muscle.I have 3 different Les Pauls I play through this
amp and they all sound great.

While researching low wattage amps on the Internet I found
Red Iron Amps and was impressed with the the design of the
amps.
I've had this amp 1 week and I can't forsee any problems.

Mr. Paul Sanchez answered my phone call and took my order
himself. He also answered several email questions within
minutes.

I've been playing 2 years. I own 3 Gibson Les Pauls's and 1 Fender Am. Series Stratocaster TX Special. My other amps are Peavey's.
A Delta Blues 1x15, a Classic 50 4x10 and a Triple XXX 4x12.

I bought the Lil'Mo for two reasons so I could quit fiddeling with my amp's knobs and just play and get a decent sound out of my rig at a volume that was acceptable without going deaf.
I feel the price was good for a custom amp.

I would order another if necessary.

A 'boutique' to say the least, 1 maybe 2 watt tube amp. Single channel 1 input, 1 volume control, power switch and a very bright cool blue power LED. TRUE/Purist point to point wiring (no eyelet or circuit boards) Solid cast 'heavy' Hammond aluminum chassis. The real beauty is whats inside if you know what you?re looking for. Paul is a master at his craft and it shows. Minimal/short actual wiring, solid core and stranded wire where it should be in the circuit, TOP quality audiophile new or NOS components ingeniously laid out crossing each other at perpendiculars as it should in ANY audio circuit for best sound/tone. NO noise, A barely audible hum that is the same at 1 and 10 if you put your head in the speaker. This amp is quiet! FIRST CLASS workmanship...

Sound Quality : 10
Paul built my version as clean up to around 3 o'clock, after that it gets fairly LOUD with the right amount of compression...and a bluesy/fendery break up, PERFECT...I have tried several different tubes in it, But no surprise, Paul had selected the best ones from the start. As far as sound? What do you think after reading the features? The real thing...Sweet singing vintage TUBE TONE (if you actually know what that is) Listen up solid state and digital guys, that stuff was designed to try and emulate tube tone, but nothing comes close to the dynamics, feel and touch sensitivity of the real thing. This includes front end stomps. For high gain sounds, my tube stomps make this thing Wail! I get everything from green blue black and brown. This is a 'boutique' amp best suited for recording and putting a smile on your face, while not blowing it off your significant others...

I am using this amp with a first generation American EVH Wolfgang Standard, An early model Carvin (bottom) 4X12 w/oem carvin British speakers. Stomps include 98' Ibanez TK99US version, 94' BK Butler Tube Works Tube Driver (The Best of the two, but with a NOS GE 12au7)Guys, you got to get those stock toneless ratty sounding CHINESE tubes out of your stuff! You need tubes, ALL TUBES!

Reliability : 10
Paul's amps are 'over built' The components and construction make reliability a 'given' Paul SHOULD show pics of the inside...You could drop this thing, replace the tubes and drive on...

Customer Support : 10
Paul Sanchez is extremely prompt and friendly just as stated in the other reviews READ THEM. I have no doubt that Paul backs his products up. He goes out of his way to please...Customer Service was the #1 reason why I decided to try one of his amps...Check out the review by 'Keith' Check out his credentials at Red Iron Amps dot com !Whew!

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for well over 30 years and still trying. I don't gig or play nearly as much as I used to. I play and enjoy many styles of music: rock, metal, classical, country, bluegrass, blues and mostly original material these days. Some guitar favorites: Al Dimeola, Paco De Lucia, Gavin Lursen, SRV, Hendrix, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Andres Segovia, Ingwae Malmstein, EVH. Some of my other current gear includes a Martin HD28V, Martin D15S. Both have been upgraded with my handmade cow bone chambered tuned nuts, saddles and bone pins with slotted bridges. I am a closet luthier.

What do I love about this amp? Quality, TONE and the price verses what you are getting! What is to hate? Compared this to the nano head and at a best price of 420 bucks??? I made the right choice. This amp with a tube stomp blows the doors off the nano head and I get way better clean tones with more volume. You do the math and feel free to contact me if you want an earful...serious inquiries only. Check out www dot red iron amps dot com -joe

Thanks Paul!

1-2 watt amp head, point-point wiring, top notch components, originally one 12ax7 for pre and a 6sn7 for the power tube. Mine's special; ) I goofed first time I plugged in and fried it. Paul, took it back and fixed it for free and returned new and improved even(he says). Mine has the 6sn7 as a preamp tube and an el84 in the power seat. One knob, volume and I think it affects tone too. Blue/violet light. Very cool and quite attractive. I don't know the specs inside, but here's a link to the Little Mo page on his site, http://www.redironamps.com/page14.html
I got this with one purpose in mind I wanted an excellent, low volume recording amp for the bedroom. I got that. With a sound this rich, I don't need reverb or trem or anything like that, but it doesn't break up quite as much as I imagined it would(though with good OD pedal, it's right on, real quick). I say a 9 suits here, fairly. BTW, Paul Sanchez the builder is a real pro, working for years with Gerald Webber of Kendrick amplifier fame. Check out the site, there's some cool stuff.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm playing mostly a US strat with Lindy Fralin pups. I got mine from Callaham, so they're wound close to the vintage hots specs but to Callahams specifics. I had been on a blues kick when I got the Mo and at first I was a little disapointed with the lack of grit. I soon found through a different speaker(10" Tone Tubby in my Super combo), the essence of this little amp. It has clean like I've never heard, very full harmonically speaking. It's that "rich" thing I used above. I've had it a couple months now and it was then I started playing cleaner and focusing closer on my playing again. A very good clean will have that effect I've found(same thing happened when I got my ac30). I eventually started using with one of the old 10" CTS speakers in the SuperRev cab and found a good clear overdriven sound I liked, pushed with my Keeley tubesreamer a bit, it's simply a beautiful, precisely sweet overdrive. The harmonics have a depth to them, very distict and again, full. There's only so many words here to use, hmmm, oh on the 2 and 4 pos.'s on strat, there's this odd, I wanna say metallic Moogish synth, jazzy kinda thing I can get that sounds very unique and I think I gonna really work on tweaking around there. Very cool sound. If there's a bottom line, it's sounds freakin great and I'm still getting new twists on it's sound as I play. Ha! Chime, forgot almost...an outstanding chime is also present. I've played little with the LesP, but it suits the solid LP feel outstandingly as well. Another bottom line, it dances around the Champ and small Silvertone we have here at the house, if that means anything to ya.

Reliability : No Opinion
Since I've had it back it runs perfect. No issues. I've looked inside and as far as I can tell it looks really well made
...OK....When I first got it I went to plug it into the Celestion Blues in my ac30 and plugged the Mo's output to what I was "sure" was the speaker cable from the Hotplate I use with the ac30. Well it was the output of the ac30 and after a few minutes of warmup I came back and realized I messed up bad. Fried both the Mo and ac30's output trannies.
I'll do another review in a year or so and give this a fair rating, but as of now, 10.

Customer Support : 10
Paul has been pretty awesome. I was sheepish about telling him I blew his amp up before I even played it, but he graciously offered to fix it for free and even said he'd be glad to fix my ac30 as well. Can't beat that! I diddled finding the replacement transformer for the ac30 but he has that now and is fixing it. Totally cool. Rock on, Paul!

Overall Rating : 10
A unique looker also, I like the bare, tubes on top, outfront, chrome handles, blue LED look it has. We all agree here at the house, it's quite a sexy lookin beast. Sounds better than I ever would have imagined(can't say rich enough, really) and perfect both soundwise, tone and volume for my purpose. oh, and space-wise, perfect. I was going to wait till next review on it, but a 10 is fair here now.

Not much to it. This version is 2 watts. There is only one nob for volume but you can get an infinty of sounds from that one nob. It would be really great if there was one tone control nob provided that there was a bypass switch so I could keep the sound I currently get with it as it is.

Sound Quality : 9
When I first got it, my cabinet was not finished being built yet so I took it to American Guitar Boutique in St. Paul, MN to make sure it works. I tried it on a Dr. Z open back 1x12 cab and thought it sounded only OK. However, it really shined once I finally plugged into my Ear Candy closed back 1x12 custom Sovcab. It took some getting used since I'm so used to playing at higher volumes. I may have some slight hearing loss from playing loud music for over 20 years. But I really hear what this little amp does when I put my head in front of the cab right where I would normally place a microphone.

My Gibson Les Paul sounded perfect on the Lil' Mo. Great tones on each pickup setting, clean and overdriven. I tried a G&L S-500 and a Fender American Strat and they sounded good but seemed to lack the twang I normally hear. That could be because I am hearing a fuller range of the tonal spectrum. Again, a tone control might have helped bring that out. I found that it also performed very well with my Musicvox Space Cadet 12 string. It was very crisp on every pickup setting which is not the case with my giging amp (Orange AD1510).

The best clean sound is at around 10 o'clock then you begin to hear tube overdrive. At full volume you get not quite enough gain for a full-on Marshall type overdrive... I'd say it gets to a very tasty blues soloing tone.

I use an SIB Veridrive tube overdrive pedal to achieve that full-on drive so I'm OK with the limited overdrive capability.

Reliability : 10
No problems.

I was looking for a home/recording amp since my Orange AD1510 louds out my whole house and rattles things in my studio when I turn it up to the place where I hit the "sweet spot". I originally considered a Z-Vex Nano Head 1/2 watt tube head. Then when I was in contact with Tim at Ear Candy Cabs, he suggested looking into the Red Iron Lil' Mo. Note: this is not the same animal as the Nano head. The Good: This is hand wired while the Nano head used a circuit board. The Better: this is a LOT less expensive. The So-So: the Nano Head achieves more of a full-on overdrive sound at full volume and also has some tone filtering capacity. Again, that's what pedals and recording consoles are for. All in all I really like it and would suggest it to anyone.

There are no features besides great tone at a level you can listen to without shaking the windows. This is a 1 watt tube amp with a single volume knob. You can also swap various tubes to get different sounds if you like

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Guild S100 a Strat and a Tele through it and they all sound great. I used to use a Crate 50W tube amp which is ridiculous in a house you could'nt turn it past 1 so you never get the tone you want. With this you can play it at full volume and get the sweet tube sound you want at a reasonable volume. I believe this type of amp is the wave of the future for players like me that play at home but still want that tone. I would also bet it would be great for recording.

Reliability : 10
Very well built, I can't imagine anything going wrong with it.

Customer Support : 10
Paul is a very nice person to deal with and is very knowledgable when it comes to amps and tubes. I believe Paul stands behind his products.

Overall Rating : 10
If you play at home this is the amp for you. Everybody wants a Champ well those are still to loud to crank to the max at home. So if you want that sweet overdriven tube sound go to www.redironamps.com and buy this little tone monster. Paul also sells more powerfull amps if that is what you're looking for. I would buy this again in a minute it is exactly what I have been looking for.
