The Mil Spec 50 is an all tube guitar amp with just volume, treble and bass controls and that's all it needs. It is a true point to point hand wired amp(no boards except for a grounding strip).Mine has 2x6sj7 preamp and 2x6l6 output tubes with a 5V4 rectifier tube. It also features a cathode adjuster dial in back.It also features new old stock military spec transformers.50 watts. It also features a beautiful Mesquite hardwood cabinet.

Sound Quality : 10
This is the first one made by Paul Sanchez and I must say it is the best amp I've owned. I use it for blues and blues rock with a stock 70s Strat. The 3:00 and above position is where it really shines. It is absolutly the fattest Strat amp I,ve ever heard. This is one of the Red Iron amps I reviewed for Vintage Guitar magazine and could not send it back.It is an amazing sounding amp with a smooth breakup and and incredible touch response. Kind of reminds me of a cross between a vintage tweed bassman and a Blackface Bassman but incredibly better. It is slightly darker sounding which makes my Strat ever so fat.I use an old MXR Dyna Comp just barely cracked for a slight extra sparkle and focus. This amp will not poop out even cranked to 10. I've never heard an amp with this much bottom end and not fart or lose clarity.Everytime I play this amp I just shake my head in total disbelief that I'm actually priviledged enough to own the first one .Anyone who has hear it says there is something there that other amps don't have.We think it's magic. This amp is not a high gain amp for metal playing. I use an Xotic BB Preamp for extra gain which works very well which proves this amp is very pedal friendly. This amp absolutly rules my roost.I get a chance to try and review many amps for Vintage Guitar magazine. This is one of the best ever.

Reliability : 10
I accidentaly screwed up the cathode dail on the back so i sent it back to Paul and he repaired it for me as soon as he got it and shipped it back on his nickel. There was no charge for the repair.I don't anticipate any problems with this amp as I've run it almost full volume for four hours and it just gets barely warm.

Customer Support : 10
Paul is an awesome person to deal with.He WILL take care of you. A great gentleman.

Overall Rating : 10
It's got to be one of the best amps in the world.
