Redplate amps dodded my existing amps overdrive channel to Dumble ODS specs . He also included an off switch on the bass pot which activates pre amp boost and bluesmaster mode ala robben ford.It bypasses the tonestack for a pure Liquid out of control OD.
He also added tube reverb to my overdrive channel-something that was not there before and something carr amps said was impossible!!!
He also turned the other footswitchable function into a mid boost for soaring D style sounds
The amp has every feature I could ever ask for in a tube amp so it gets a 10.

Before the mod my Carrs clean channel got a 10+ but the overdrive channel got a 3. In fact, I think the stock OD mode on the Carr was perhaps the most lifeless OD channel I've ever heard in a tube amp. I wish I knew what Carr was going for. I always used pedals for lead and I loved the clean channel so I lived with it.
Now that the amp has been modded, the clean channel was untouched but the overdrive channel sings! You want the sound of fords "talk to your daughter"? Its in here as well as the sounds off Jing Chi. It nails Carltons tone and can go beyond it into infinite sustain.
It is so dynamic I can lighten up my pick attack and roll my guiatr to 8 and have another clean channel. I can put the guitar on 10 and play hard and go into feedback. This is the beauty of the dumble curcuit!
Henry (the owner of RedPlate Amps) knows this curcuit in and out and has mastered it.
Next, I will have a full redplate amp built from the ground up. Henry works with the customer and understands your desires and will create a custom amp for you. I want to have a smaller 1/12 amp.
Because of the clean channel before ( a 10) and the OD channel (a 3) I would have given the sound a 6 (definitely lame on a $3500 amp)
Now with the redPlate amp mods I give this amp a 10. It is the perfect amp for me and I dont think it could be improved.

I sent Henry the amp chassis only and I got to see inside.
It looks like its built to last 10 lifetimes. The Standard Carr amp is built like a tank on terminal strips and Henry's soldering, routing of wires etc is perfection.
He does not Goop anything! He belives in sending the customer a schematic in case it goes down it can be serviced wherever you're at!
All of the components that you "have to have" to nail that curcuuit is in plain sight. Vishey Dale resistors, orange drops. It has it all!

You can talk to Henry on the phone or by email and he is there if you need him.
What other guy will work on an existing high end amp to tailor the amp to your needs?
I have never met anyone as knowledgible as Henry at Redplate amps!
Henry and redPlate amps rocks!

I've played professional for 25 years and know good tone and know that the Dumble sound is perhaps the hardest to attain and this amp now has it. Its simple as that. I think that When more people hear about Redplate amps he will have a very long waiting list and his amps will sell used for mega bucks!
When I bought the Carr, I also bought a Fuchs and I sold it a few weeks later because I didnt like the clean sound. I didnt like that it shared EQ with the lead channel. I also didnt like that it has a solid state reverb that doesnt sound great IMHO. I couldn't keep them both so I kept the Carr and got pedals. Those days are over!
I can set each channel independantly and put pure tube reverb on each .
I can footswitch to a completely different OD sound and footswitch in a mid boost!
As far as that D sound goes, I owned a Fuchs, played several Two Rocks and speant a lot of time at Two Rock's showroom in Rohenert Park and always wondered what the talk was about.
In 25 years I have never been this excited about tone!
