Built 2008. 30 Watt Head and Cab - in Purple Tolex - looks awesome!
Two channels - 1 normal, 1 high treble. Most like to "jumper" the two and blend. NO reverb or any other effects - plain simple, base, mid, treble and presence along with the two gain controls.

The head is switchable to 16/8/4 ohm operation. Score of 8 is based on it's versititlity - something MArshall decided long ago when Jim Marshal designe dhis first amp.

Sound Quality : 10
The Amp absolutely rocks! If you are worried about its ability to overdrive - dont. I had Chuck Dean (the builder, owner of Retro King) add a post phase inverter Master, which works great. However, its reall ynot even needed. The KT66s that Chuck selects are awesome. Something about KT66s - you can play wonderful warm Jazz, its got great single note bloom and punch, and when driven hard absolutely melts your heart with pure mid 60s Rock and Roll tone. Really great BLUES amp more so than anyhting else. I am amazed at how awesome this amp is with the full gamut of guitars, all the way from a Tele to a Les Paul, this amp does it all.

DOnt forget the JTM-45 (Blues breaker)is what launched MArshall, and is the sound of so many amazing albums, go listen to John Mayalls album wiht Clapton "The Beano Album"

I also had Chuck build me the 2x12 "1936" Cabinet. Very solid (done by Mojotone) the mix of a G12H30 and a V30 is time proven and just nails the tone this amp was meant to produce....awesome!!

Reliability : No Opinion
Too new to rate reliability, however the soldering and construction are absolute top notch! Well put together, not rushed and quality parts used all around.

Customer Support : 10
Upon receiving it it somehow had a cracked faceplate (pretty minor) and Chuck had me a new one instantly and reimbured my costs for a tech to replace the old one - no hassles whatsoever on his part. Chuck answers emails and phone calls, is friendly and knowledable

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 30years, have lots of gear and I am I beleive, VERY qualifed to rate guitars, amps, effects, etc....been a thirty year pasion. There are a lot of "Boutique Amp Builders" out there. Most building clones of some of the greatest circuts ever devised by Fender and Marshall. I cant speak for many others (some I can) but in Chuck Deans case and Retro-King - he delivered on his promise. Built a Higher quality (thna availbe from MArshall and their Mass prodcution lines) and a fair price and it sounds fantastic!

This amp head is a point-to-point wired clone of the mid sixties Marshall JTM-45 amps that use 2- KT66 output tubes and a GZ34 rectifier tube with 3-12ax7 preamp tubes. The amp has all the same controls as any Marshall clone amp head

Sound Quality : 10
This amp has a big bottom end as well as a smooth mid section and with the highs rolled off (and input I capacitor clipped off of the input I volume) sounds GLORIOUS and complex when dimed or pushed. This amp KILLS the Marshall re-issue amps and is beautifully and professionally wired and put together. I use a Mojo 4x12 cab loaded with Tone Tubby alnicos and this combo is THE GOODS! I have a Retro-King 50 watt plexi clone too and actually LOVE BOTH! but, prefer this JTM45 head slightly better as it has a little more clean headroom than the 50 watter...both are AWESOME and run *QUIET* (even when 'dimed') though and I record and gig with both.

Reliability : 10
Built solid, workmanship and components are top notch...best sounding and performing 'Marshall' type amps I've ever owned or heard and I have owned and heard DOZENS of em!

Customer Support : 10
Accessible, knowledgeable and friendly...perfect!

Overall Rating : 10
This amp is expensive, but, for what it is and what it does it is actually VERY REASONABLY PRICED! I'm ordering an 18 watter early next year!
