Rivera Los Lowbottom with 2 jbls drivers and 500 watts power. It's basically the same size as an average 2x12 cabinet and fits snugly underneath a 4x12 or combo amp.

Amp controls are simple but effective. Make certain to use an INSTRUMENT cable from your amplifier to the lowbottom cabinet (NOT a speaker cable.) You can use the direct out on your amp or the efx loop. There is an efx loop patch on the sub cabinet.. so if you're using the efx loop send of your amp... you can still patch your efx through the los lowbottom...and then back up to efx return of your amp.

There is an adjustable level control on the back for volume. It can only be adjusted with a guitar pick so you can "set it and forget it."

500 watts is PLENTY of power...more than enough. I've never needed to turn the sub cabinet's volume up all the way.

Full-range or High-pass filter available... you decide what sounds best.

Weighs about a hundred pounds... but rolls easy and is small enough for a single person to lift.

Sound Quality : 10
Sound is totally in a class by itself. Rivera has truly made one of the most effective tools for playing guitar EVER...

A lot of players aren't interested in the sub-cabinet because they think it is for drop-tuned nu-metal or that it will mess with the bass player. Not so, the sub cabinet simply keeps your low end tight. Dial in just enough to keep your backbone solid... then eq your mids and highs through your main speaker cabinet.

Metal players will love the snap they get when palm muting. Soloists will love how their single notes are HUGE and thick. Clean channel sounds immaculate. Lows are just what you've always wanted... clear and articulate without ever getting muddy or losing definition. Perfection.. seriously

Sounds great with any guitar...7strings, LPs, strats, jazzmasters, hollowbodies etc

A nice room filling sound. Makes a combo sound as full as a stack without ever being overwhelming. Absolutely deserves a 10 rating

Reliability : No Opinion
Owned it for 4 years and played through it everyday. Never had a problem yet (knock on wood)

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know

Overall Rating : 10
I cannot understand why these cabinets are not more popular. Maybe most players are afraid of the unknown... They don't see their favorite guitar heroes on stage with sub-cabinets so they're not too interested. Oh well, their loss

The sub cabinet will not save you if you're original tone is bad. It simply makes a good tone tighter and more "room filling." Don't expect it to work miracles. If you've got a dumpy sounding rig this will not help... But if you're got an already great sounding rig then the sub is "icing on the cake."

Some people have mentioned that it's hard for a sound guy to mic. Not from my experience... But I'm not a professional so there could be issues that I'm not aware of.

I play mine with the Rivera Knucklhead Reverb and 4x12 v30 cab. It's an absolute must have for the KHR.

Try it.. you'll like it

I have the ks312 model of the los lobottom- it has 2 vintage 30s & one jbl 300 watt subwoofer, and is about the same size as a 4X12 cabinet . i wasn't sure what to expect when i found this cab- it was the first time i ever saw a cabinet with any kind of active electronics. turned out to be one of the best souunding cabs i ever heard.

Sound Quality : 10
this thing is amazing. the concept and design is so brilliant, and it's actually much easier than it appears to be. you run two outputs from your amp; one goes to the 2 vintage 30s, the other one to the sub. (if you don't have 2 outputs, i suppose that a splitter would work just as well.) you plug the sub into an outlet, turn it on, adjust the volume of it until you like the bass level, and done. i play a telecaster through an orange or80 to this cab, and it made the tele sound like no other. it sounds so much bigger and fuller than i ever thought, and now that i have this cabinet i don't know how i could have lived with a regular 4x12.

Reliability : No Opinion
can't say yet, i've only had it about 2 months. however, i bought it used and it seems fine. it's built like a tank and heavy as hell. i think it's too soon for me to give it a number rating, but i don't forsee having any problems with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt or needed to deal with rivera.

Overall Rating : 10
overall, this thing amazed me. i was skeptical at first because when i checked it out in the store, the active electronics thing seemed pretty foreign to me. even the salesman wasn't entirely sure how to work it correctly. i basically took a gamble with this cabinet, and it paid off big time. once i got it home and figured it all out, it blew me away. if this cab got lost, well, i don't think i would ever 'lose' a cabinet. it's not a set of keys. i'd like to think that i'm more careful than that. however, if it was stolen, i'd have a brief period of mourning, then hunt down the theif and rip his arms off. yeah, it sounds that good.

This is very easy to use and can be used, from what I understand, with just about any amp out there. It is simple, plug in, adjust level to match your amp volume (or whatever amount of low end you prefer) and you're done! I have yet to play it really loud (I live in an apartment...) but I am sure it is going to be amazing!

Sound Quality : 10
This adds so much to any style of music, clean, crunch, metal, you name it. If you have a chance to get one, do it. They are apparently fairly rare, although Rivera claims they are going to start production of them again in the future...

It makes a small amp sound so big. Matched up with my Rivera Chubster, well, it really sounds much larger than it is, and at lower volumes too (to reiterate, I live in an apartment...)

Reliability : No Opinion
No problems yet, it is used, and I have only had it for a few months...

Haven't had to deal with any problems yet, but I hope I don't have any problems. I have called Rivera for other things, and they have been really friendly and helpful!

Overall Rating : 10
Get one if you can, they are amazing! I give props to the guys as Rivera that came up with this brilliant idea. If mine was to disappear, I would be really sad and on a rampage to get another one ASAP!!

River Sub 1 model Subwoofer designed to be used with a normal combo amp. Has a 12 inch JBL driver in a ported and tuned cabinet. Has a built in 300 watt power amp that can be hooked up to any amp. Has inputs for Line or Speaker level signals. Also has a built in effects loop and a line level output with a switchable crossover. Also has a phase switch for matching speaker phase to the main amp. Also includes a screwdriver adjustable volume control for matching output to host amp. Once it is set it's a set and forget sort of thing. Very versatile in options.

Sound Quality : 10
The Sub 1 adds a nice low end fullness and thump to the host amp. It makes a 1-12 combo sound like a stack in fullness but not volume. The really nice thing is that when used with an open back combo (I use a Rivera Chubster) you get a full clean sound and a punchy distorted sound. The problem with a closed back 2x12 or 4x12 cabinet is that you can't get a nice Fendery clean tone. With the open back conbo you can, but with the fullness of a great Twin. OF course the problem with distortion sounds from an open back combo is that you don't get the thump of a sealed cabinet. The Sub gives it that. For no more room than a combo you get a big sound in a portable package. And the volume is very controllable.
This does impressive things to a Strat! It just sounds so big. And a Les Paul is incredible!

Reliability : 10
I have two other Rivera amps and they've worked great. My Chubster is over two years old and has never let me down.

Customer Support : 10
Great! Very honest and helpful people.

Overall Rating : 10
I was a little unsure of whether to get one, but am very happy. I play gospel and so I didn't need a lot of volume, but I wanted the fullness and thump from my old sealed 2x12 cabinet. The Sub 1 gives me that and a much fuller clean sound. Like all Rivera equipment, this delivers on its promise. I really love it.

300 watt extension sub-woofer for any combo amp. Very versitile for use with ext. speaker, line out or effects loop.

Sound Quality : 10
This unit takes your thin sounding combo amp and creates a wall of sound that will make your hair fall out. I'm bald after only a weekend with this thing. It's not the volume i'm speaking about, but it's the thick fullness and fatness that it adds. Make your 1x12 sound like two full stacks. It's got a knob to adjust the amount of volume you need. Set it, then get ready to be vaulted into sound heaven. The difference between having the los lobottom on and off is freaking ridiculous. I may go crazy using this thing...help me.

Reliability : 10
I'm going to gig with it tonight, i'm really excited. It's reliable so far after 72 hours.

If you've ever tried to contact Rivera, you know they deserve a 10+

I love it. Just dial in your amount of sound, and start rockin.

For those of you that don't know, this is a 300 watt subwoofer made to work in conjunction with any combo amp. I originally was going to go for the Los Lowbottom and a Suprema 55 at the same time but I found a deal on a Boogie Rocket 44 that couldn't be beat. So I sit the boogie on top of the Los Lowbottom and emulate a full stack. This is the most amazing thing you've ever heard. It can be played with a clean amp, a screamer, it doesn't matter it gives you low end like you've never heard. It is simple as hell too, just take your external speaker jack and run a line to it, turn it on and wail! It has a volume that you pretty much just set once and leave it alone. There are also two switches, one for phase inversion and one for a crossover if you want to run it through an effects loop and remove the lows from your combo. Couldn't be more simple. It utilizes a 12 inch driver with a baffled enclosure, all the controls are in the back. It looks just like a single 12 extension cabinet but beware! The amplifier section is 300 watts, solid state and transparent, there are no tone controls, it gives your combo the ability to go from 10 to 15! I'll rate the versatility at 10 because it enables you to patch it through to your existing amp several ways.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a variety of Strats and a Carvin Les Paul, I'm a big blues fan but play all kinds of rock too. Like I said this amp takes your combo, any combo, doesn't have to be Rivera and brings it to epic proportions. Anyone who has heard this thing is blown away. It can be used for any tone or style, it is like playing with two four speaker cabinets and is only 50 pounds or so. Probably the best thing about it is that you can get a huge sound at low volumes. With the 50 watt Boogie, I am way too loud playing in a 4 piece band with the Boogie on 2. It is very quiet, you would never know it was even on. It's volume is determined by your amps input and seems pretty proportional, I set the volume once and never touched it again. Clean, it is a wall of Fenders, distorted it is a full stack, all in all it's the greatest invention since the tube! I have 7 other great amps, Fender quad reverb, early 70s Marshall JMP 50 watt 1/2 stack etc. but these suckers are too loud, they don't sound right unless they are cranked. The Los Lowbottom would be awesome with and old Fender Princeton Reverb (mine is broken so I haven't checked this out yet) you would get portability and a way big sound. I really can't say enough about this thing, bring you're favorite combo to a Rivera dealer, plug in and you'll be in la la land for at least an hour, at which time you'll open your wallet and bring it home. I first heard it with the Rivera Suprema 55, talk about tone! For a guy that wants huge sound ( and I don't mean loud ) this is what you've been looking for. It's like a sonic maximizer on steroids for your combo.

Reliability : 10
So far so good, I play it everyday. Thursday night is rehearsal and it wails for 5-6 hours straight, no heat build-up. I would depend on it in any situation.

Customer Support : 10
I bought the amp as a floor model in a large chain store. They couldn't find the manual. I e-mailed Rivera at about 7pm that evening. The next morning I had 2 emails from Rivera, one from Paul himself appologzing that the amp was so new they hadn't published the manual yet. He gave me his direct phone number and told me to call and he would help me anyway he could. That is service! Turned out, ya don't really need no stinking manual! Just turn it on and plug it in, set the volume and voila, you're combo is now godzilla.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for at least 20 years, like I said earlier, I have quite a gear collection. This amp is the missing link. Most of my stuff is big, (the quad and the marshall anyway) this coulpled with the Boogie Rocket 44 is the ticket. You can carry one in each hand and be on your merry way. Like I said, it blows people away. I love the fact that it has virtually no adjustments besides volume, it is simple. I also think it is a good value because you could use it with any amp. Got a combo that doesn't quite get loud enough but has killer tone? Los Lowbottom just gave you 300 watts of instand low end.
