This is a very cool amp. It's very well made and has loads of tone. It's a tow channel amp with a kinda Fender sounding channel that has a gain and a boost (called a Ninja of all things). It can go from really clean to a real crunchy sounding SRV kinda sound. The second channel is based on the Marshall/Boogie sound. Gobs of distortion that sounds as good as most lead channels I've heard. Of course it's all tube con= struction with point to point wiring. It has two Celestion speakers but can be ordered with JBLs or EVs. The effects loop has levels controls for both the in and out.

Sound Quality : 10
I have played both strats and les pauls through this amp. It could be used for any style music from clean country (probably not a good acoustic amp) to thrash metal. The only noise I've noticed is associated with the use of single coil pickups and we all now about that, right? With a humbucker, even at high volumes it's pretty quite. I probably don't play the lead channel above a 3 or so even for outdoor gigs. The clean channel can be played to a pretty high level, with the right knobs settings and remain quite clean.

Reliability : 10
I've had the amp for two years now and haven't had a single problem with it. The Rivera company sends out a regular news letter that's pretty much advertisment and endorsements by pros (which is a good thing I guess) and I have talked to them a time or two regarding a couple of questions I had and found there help to be quite good. It's the only amp I own at this time so I have to depend on it.

Overall Rating : 10
Considering the price of really high end amps these days I think the Rivera is a fairly good deal. The versatilty of this amp makes it an amp you could take to a gig and start off playing country rock in the first set and be playing heavy metal by midnight with no problems at all. It's got great tone in both channels as well.
