It has enough features to offer. I like that you are able to save presets. Also possible to edit through your computer through midi. It also has a direct out. This works great and has a reasonable good tone.
I use the amp at home to practise one, and have used it for a cd recording.

It is a very quiet amp, that is possitive. But it is very hard to control the gain. It is not very subtile. Goes from clean to very distorted. Would have liked it to have more control over the gain.
But it suits my music fine as I make heavy rock.
Mostly I use a gibson with emg's. That sound a bit to nice sometimes.
Very high volumes do not work well, the sound distorts. Nice to use at home or a very small cafe.

If it would be stolen, I would trade it for a Hughes and Kettner switchblade combo. Another pricerange, but thats more of my cup of tea.
I loved the simplicity and you are able to get good sound.
I disliked the variety of sounds. It is all pretty high gained.

I use this amp for anything from acoustic-style chord strumming and church music to drop tuned heavy metal, Metallica style. I love the sounds I can get out of it. although some more bass edge would be greatly appreciated.

This is where my amp faulters HEAVILY. From time to time when I switch amp settings or effects the amp will bug out and all that will come from the speakers is a mess of static and high-pitched growl. Pisses me off pretty bad. I tried emailing tech-support, but as soon as the question from me of replacment parts came along, they stopped anwering my emails. If you're dead-set on getting this amp, make sure it's got a warrenty, or you may just be as pissed off as this canuck is.

I bought it used, so I don't know what year it is. It's solid state with 16 amp models and all the basic effects that normal people would want. 60 LOUD watts and a single twelve inch speaker. You can use a midi footswitch to change the presets (30 available presets). Headphone jack/direct out, effects loop, blah, blah, blah. It's a compromise between tech-heads and plug-and-play people.

With bassy humbuckers, some of the models will sound muddy unless you really mess with the eq. The fender models seem to be especially prone to this. Real Fender amps are prone to this, also--that's why they have a bright switch on those fine old amps. The amp seems voiced best for single coil pickups. I wouldn't want to switch between a les paul and a tele and use the same settings on the amp.
The amp is very quiet. Like some other guy said, kind of too quiet. You don't have that low hmmmmmmmmmm sound like a real tube amp. On the other hand, that noise kind of irritates other band members at times.
The models are accurate. I traded a marshall for this thing and it nails the crunch and grit of a marshall. I still have my 4x10 bassman and this amp nails that sound, too. The "mega gain" and "thrash" and other over-the-top sounds aren't what I use, but seem very servicable for somebody that doesn't have to be playing a boogie.
I play in front of college students every week (generally a demanding crowd) and this amp cuts through the mix well. It's plenty loud and doesn't sound harsh or thin like several of the other digital amps out there. It does need to be played at a reasonable loud volume, just like the tube amps it emulates in order to emulate the feel of a tube amp. Don't expect a modeling amp to behave like a cranked tube amp at bedroom volumes. It doesn't work.

It's wonderful for what I paid for it. This is the first modeling amp that I have played that actually feels like a tube amp. The tones are great. The models deal with my overdrive, phase 90, wah, and other pedals realistically. It does a great job.
That being said, I don't use a midi pedal, the line out, or any of the built in effects besides a little reverb and compression (if I'm playing outside). I just dial in one good amp sound and use my good, old-fashioned analog pedals. I can only get so far into technology.
My suggestion for Rocktron. Make a two channel amp with a fender side and a marshall side. I guess you'll have to call them tweed and british so you don't get sued, though.

This amp is very versatile and very easy to use and program. I am amazed at the different sounds I can get from it. The direct out is very good sounding and useful. It is especially useful while the kids are sleeping. I love the way I can get rid of noise by the turn of a knob. I wish there was a way to keep the speaker on while playing direct. This would be useful in small venues playing though the PA while using the amp as a monitor. Supposedly there is a way to modify it but I have not found it yet. The search is still on.

I bought the amp for its clean sounds. I used an RP2000 before this and the cleans tones were not even close. I was looking for a small compact amp that gave me a clean jazz chours sounds but also allowed me to get some dirt when I wanted it w/o having to drag around multiple pedals. I was pleasantly surprised with the Texas, blues and Marshall type sounds. I did noticed that It was particular with the guitar pickups used. It seemed to do best with Fender Lace sensor pickups. I tried a Shecter Assy, and a Music Man active pickup set up and it seemed to get muddy on the low end. Highs always sounded good. I also tried it with a Dano and got some good sounds with the Anlico pick ups. I give it a 9 with Fender Lace and 7 with the other pickups. So I'll split the difference

Obviously no tube problems; however; I have had some software glitches and one hardware problem. I was able to resolve the software problems by getting a chip upgrade and I resolved the switch problem by replacing a rear plug in module. The Rocktron Hotline was helpful in getting me the parts and trouble shooting the problem. I was able to fix both problems at no cost. This amp was relatively new so I expected some infant mortality problems. The key is how to get it up and running and keeping it that way. Reference customer support.

I have been playing for 25 years. I just started playing electric again and found this amp to be a fun piece of gear. I am amazed at the technology these days. In the past I payed much more than this amp cost and did not get the quality of sound I can get from this amp. I previosly played mostly though Fender Twins. I love the versatility, the size, and the clean sounds. I though it had more headroom than the line 6 Flex and Digitech RP2000 and similar. As already stated I wish there was a way to keep the speaker on if desired while playing though the direct out. I also did not like the fact of having the vary the volume so much but what do you expect. The good news is that it is programable. I would like to try out some Rivera stuff but I just can't see forking over the bucks for tube type reliablilty and cost. This gets me close enough and at half the cost. If I go pro I'll look at the Rivera.

I have had this amp for a while, I love the tweed setting, deluxe and jtm45, are my favorite. I do not like the higher gain sounds, I use my Ibanez Tubeking and it sounds great Live and recording.Effects delay is good but only one type, Reverb is good but still isn't quite there. I like tremolo, and also (rotary only on the fast position).Chorus ok, As far as other effects I will pass, I am not to impressed with them

I will give my list of pros and cons.
PROS
1. amp is real quiet
2.Excellent line out sound one of the best I have heard
3.great clean and mid gain sounds except the Vox imitation
4.Nice effect loop doesn't add any noise with processors or pedals.
5. responds well to distortion pedals.
6. Great sounds at low volumes.
Cons
1. big volume changes between patches makes it hard to balance a high gain sound and clean.
2. Eq doesn't offer that much at all
3. line out would be great if you could run that and amp at the same time for Live playing
4. Higher gains could of been better.
5. Reverb is good but still needs some work.
6. Effects could have been better.
My Bottom line for 500$ this is not a bad amp. For practicing and recording, rehersals this is great. Well live playing I might pass unless I was in a situation for using line out.The deluxe, tweed and jtm45 are really great and have some good feel to them.If it was stolen I might pick Peavey modeling amp over this. As for replacing my tube amp no, but it seems to make a great second amp with a lot of uses and my back up for when my tube amp is in the shop.

This amp is versatile enough to play any style of music. For effects its Reverb, Delay, Hush that can be used at all times and are simple to adjust - there's a cool tap rate button you just hit twice to set the delay time, chorus rate, flanger rate, etc. The other effects (listed below) are one at a time and can be adjusted as well. What makes this work well for me is that you can use rvb, dly, hush and what ever else all at the same time. With the possible exception of compression that's all I ever combince. If you set the preset selector on manual all the controls work as on a regular amp. There are 16 amp models to play and they do take some tweaking - its easy to get bad sounds as well as good so it takes some time. I love the fact that all you need to gig is this amp and a midi pedal - one cord on the floor between the pedal and the amp - this is something I've always wanted! If it had a tuner I'd give it a 10.

I've tried the amp with strats and pauls and it shines with both. When not played it is DEAD quiet - very quiet when played as well. I have a '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb and a Mesa Dual Rectifier which are two of the amps that are modeled. With all effects off it is remarkable how close this amp can get to these tones. The deluxe is the hardest to replicate and I'm VERY SATISFIED - the Replitone sounds more like a dlx than the tremoverb - much sweeter. I know its hard to believe but I A-Bd them with a pedal switching back and forth and its true. The tone quality I'm talking about is when you dig into a note on a clean setting and the sound gets round and sweet with no scratchy harshness. I also like that fact that you can adjust the GAIN on the deluxe and get that tone at lower volumes as well. The reverb is good but not great - the other effects are similar quality - good enough. The distorted sounds are very good as well. I would say it has 90% of the quality of the Mesa but not the focus. The focus is good and I'm sure it will cut through in a band setting with the right model. There is a big variation in focus between the high gain settings so you have to pick the right one for leads. By focus I mean it feels like a single note hits you right between the eyes rather than the frequecies being spread out like a 4 foot wave hitting you - this is something I became "tuned into" after trying to get lighter amps to sound like the Mesa MkIV I gigged with for years. Great amps but SOO HEAVY, the Replitone is a little on the heavy side itself but I do believe its the lightest amp in its quality range. It does rattle a bit more than I'd like at high volumes - I've found this true for many amps but this one is on the rattley side of the norm.

I've been playing 20yrs and gigged for the last 10. After reading the other reviews after I'd comminted (over Ebay) but before the amp was delivered I was expecting an average amp. Maybe I got a good one but this amp is SO much more than I expected and I don't understand the other reviews. I bought it for practice in my detached Cabana office at home and as I light do-it-all amp to gig with. Haven't gigged yet but so far this amp appears to do everything I wanted and much more than I expected. I'v tried all the other modeling amps at the store but its so hard to tell anything there, I never heard anything that compared with this - the flextone II XL was closest but not nearly as tubey clean sounds. I made the decision to get a digital amp after lugging my Mesa to a recent gig. The Guitar Player review raved about this amp so I decided to get it sound unheard. I choose it because its light and powerful enought to gig with. I very highly recommend this amp and I'd say if I could have only one of my amps it would be this one.

After trying it out in the shop with a nice Reverend guitar, I thought that I might like it better than the Flextone, and the equivalents out there. That ended when I used it for a gig with a loud drummer. All of a sudden the bottom end gets real flappy. I found myself wanting more bass, but unable to turn up the bass control without it getting farty. Not very touch sensitive, and not much to offer in the way of tube sounds at high volume. Sure sounded great at bedroom levels though.

The price that I gave is the sticker price. I'm not sure how much they'd come down off of that. This amp, and others like them, are very deceptive. You try it out in the store thinking "This sounds great", and then take it out on the gig and wonder "What happened?". As long as you keep it in the bedroom, or maybe in the studio, you'll be fine. Don't put it on the bandstand!

Great sounds but I really missed the sound of "HEAT" comming from tubes. This amp still captures all the other features of a tube amp but it cannot capture the "heat", and its tonal character, of a *true tube circut (* be wary my friends, there are A LOT of big names out there that use solid state distortion diodes/chips and then run it through tubes to "warm it up" -so be careful in what you try - a dead give away is when the rep/tech from the company says that tube selection/type won't change the sound of the amp!). I don't think digital ever will ever capture this sound. "heat" is not a digital chips friend. I know its a minor quibble, but I can hear the difference. After owning the Replitone for close to a month, I started to miss the tube sound. This is the magic of tubes, once you hear it and know it, you always want it.I just bought a Mesa Triaxis - that is the TONE but its also more than double the cost of the Replitone and its ONLY A PREAMP!! If it wasn't for the reliability issue (see below), I would've kept this amp. I still say it is an AWESOME value and it will blow most tube amplifiers away. I defintaley rank it second to my Mesa Triaxis (and other Mesa's as a matter of fact). My current rack set up cost me $2,250, the Replitone was $599, money isn't an object to me if the tone and feel is there. If money is an issue, buy the Replitone - you and your bank account will be happy. If not, look for your ultimate tone machine (check out Boogies, this is my third one!

Well, the amp started to CRASH on me. I don't know if I had a faulty one but it made me question digital and I know that crashing is a problem with all digital amps. It started to happen after programming the channels to work with my midi pedal. I was also getting some weird fluctuations in volume. My gut feeling told me to stay away from digital. God bless American Musical Supply for crediting back my account. I've since purchased a Mesa Triaxis preamp which to me is the End All Be All of tone for me. Its a midi programmable preamp with 5 glowing bottles of tonal bliss. I'm lucky to have a great wife (she's the one who "forces" me to spend the extra money for the top of the line stuff knowing that I tend to go cheap to save money and then complain!)and at this time a household income of over $100,000 and no kids (two ornery dogs though). I'm completly satisfied with my sound..........for now.

Great amp sound, great features, but I don't trust it to play in my band. I could've had a faulty one, I don't know but it made me leary of digital amps. I've heard of several digital amps crashing at high volume and with repetitive channel switching/programming. Remember, digital amps are computors, they are prone to the same issues. Be wary of downloading sound presets off of the web!!!

16 Vintage and Modern Amplifier Replications, Stereo 24-bit Digital effects, 60 Watts, etc... After reading about all the hype around this amp and especially reading Guitar Player's review (http://www.guitarplayer.com/archive/gear/bt9912.shtml#rocktron.), I decided to check this amp out. It packs a lot of features in a small enclosure, but again I've seen better. It's funny that out of the 16 amps emulated, 3 happen to be Rocktron's own technology and as funny as it may seem, those emulations sound the WORST.

This is where the amp lacks the most. Decent features but boy does the sound suck. I've compared this amp to its respective competitors in the same price range, i.e. Johnson JM60, Line6 Flextone, Tech 21 and this came out to be the WORST of them all. In fact, some cheesy Chinese made $100.00 solid state amps sound better than this!

This amp is definitely THE WORST ONE I've ever tried in this price range. I've been playing guitar for 6 years now, I've owned a Fender '65 Twin, Marshall JCM 900 Dual Reverb Half-Stack, Johnson JM120. I currently own a Johnson Millenium 250W Head with the Johnson 4x12 Cab that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. I miss my Johnson JM120 but I didn't want to spend too much especially after spending so much on the Millenium. I was looking for a small practice amp to use at home that would be compact and would have a decent sound. My advice to anybody interested in this amp would be to make sure you try one out or if there are none in your area, get on eBay and purchase one for about $400.00 - I wouldn't pay more for this piece of junk! I don't mean to be so rude and crude but after spending that much money on this amp I feel like I've been robbed. The dealer where I bought it at doesn't even want to trade it back. No wonder!
