Extremely versatile. Everything but the kitchen sink and a pitch transposer. 16 models - maybe 10-12 effects. Definetely need a midi control footswitch of some kind unless yo want to reach down between songs/parts (i've done it!).

Sound Quality : 8
Plenty loud, stereo is not that noticable really. goes from spanky clean through overdrive and fuzz almost all the way to metal. The vibe here is much more vintage than modern though - nothing approaches my GNX 3 sounds (rippin' but "fake" sounding thru an amp). This is more organic. Overall sound is close to tube for most people but no cigar if your a die hard.

Main problem is the inability to turn "HUSH" noise reduction all the way off. Don't get me wrong - I love HUSH, but sometimes it gets in the way.

Also I wish it had more tone controls, either a midrange sweep or more 'trebley' treble. You have to choose your model as a starting point cuz the tone controls ain't gonna get you that far.

Reverb is nice and sounds great turned up 3/4 for surf. delay is very tape-like which I love. Chorus, Flanger and Phasr are fine/fair OK. tremelo is cool too. The wah didn't work well with my ART footpedal but sounded cool set to the 'sweet-spot' ala Satriani. Compressor can be a little redundant if your using the HUSH as it compresses too.

Overall sounds pretty @!#%^*&* good to me!

Reliability : 6
Some times I have to turn it off and back on to "clear" memory - could be my ART x15 foot controller. We will see cuz i am gonna get the appropriate pedal (Roctron Midi Mate).

First 1/4 of volume control does nothing. I keep it on 1/2 which is quite loud!

Amp is very heavy and seems durable enough.

If you need a tube amp then buy one. This is way more versatile and sounds the best of the modelers - but as tube-snob friend says "there is no magic" here.

However, if you can't afford a tube amp and several effects pedals then this thing ROCKS! great for my classic rock cover band. My total with the correct board will be around $300.00 and I saw one on EBAY today with pedal and case for $500.00. tha doesn't get you far in the tube/stompox world - but it takes you all the way home here! I will repost after I get the Rocktron pedal.

Not sure what the year is on this thing. One channel, which I kind of bugs, becuase I cant plug in a footswitch. It has 30 programmable presets with MIDI. 16 different models, which I absolutely love. I can get any sound out of this amp. Whether you want the sound of a 70's Fender Tube amp or a Mesa Boogie, you can get it all out of this thing. Tone is amazing. 120 watts out of 2 12 inch Velocity speakers. 24 effects, which is also very useful. I mean, I rarely use effects, but for someone who loves effects and doesnt want the hassle of a multi-effects processor, you have it all built into your amp.

Sound Quality : 9
This amp gives me the cleanliness of a tube amp, and the distortion of a Marshall. It's insane. I love it. You turn the gain to about 8, put it on the Fuzz model, and you have some sick ass distortion. You put the gain at about 9, put it on Clean 1, and you have yourself something very comparable to a tube. Very versatile sounds. The only thing that bugs me, is that if I have the gain set past 8 and I want distortion, the E string shoots out a dirty sound. You cant tell if you're playing, but if you sit there and listen closely you can hear it.

Reliability : 9
Pretty reliable so far. Just the leather rips easily. I'd use it without a backup, anyday. Ah, and sometimes the sound will just shut off. Then I have to turn it off, and on again. Only happened to me twice.

Havent ever needed it.

Been playing for about 9 months. Used mainly Les Pauls and SG's with this thing. I get everything I need out of it. If there were two channels, it would be perfect. But, all amps cant be perfect. I'm pretty happy with it, I cant compare it with much because I dont know of any amps this versatile. Line6's are versatile, but this blows them away. If this were stolen, I'd cry my eyes out, and spend as much needed to get another.

Features have been covered. One channel, up to 30 memory settings that let you select different combinations of amp, effects, etc.

Plenty of volume. A direct out that didn't disable the speakers would have made a lot of sense.

Effects are good, although it would have been nice to have a compressor that you could combine with other effects - and an overdrive/distortion effect would have made this amp a lot more useable.

I find it difficult to balance the volume levels of different sounds.

Sound Quality : 7
I use this amp with single coil , P-90, and humbucker-equipped guitars. I play a variety of styles (I'm in a wedding/dance band) from jazz to funk to classic rock.

This amp is very quiet, and the HUSH effect (noise gate) is excellent.

I'll start by saying that I've never played through most of the amps that this thing models, so I have no idea if the models are "accurate" - only whether they sound good to me.

The amp has a pretty good variety of models available including Fender Twins, Bassman and Deluxe, AC-30, Marshalls, Polytone, Mesa-Boogie, and several Rocktron amp modelss. There are several high-gain amps that sound very good - interesting colors and definition without a lot of noise. This amp would be a good choice for shredders and metalheads.

I love the AC-30 clean sound and the Marshalls. The Fender models sound dark to me - especially the Bassman and the Deluxe.

My biggest gripe after using this amp for several months is the lack of an overdrive/distortion effect. The amp models have as much gain as the originals, meaning that (for instance) the Twin models barely distort even with the gain all the way up. There's no way to get that "Tube Screamer through a Twin" sound without using an external pedal - and in my opinion, that defeats the purpose of an all-in-one amp like this. So I have to use Marshall or Rocktron models in order to get an overdriven sound.

To my ears, the Polytone and Mesa Boogie models are awful.

Reliability : No Opinion
The amp has frozen a couple of times at gigs, but I'm not sure if it was the amp or my Midi controller. You have to turn it off and on again to unfreeze it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea. The manual is terrible and the website is useless.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing for 25 years. I have too much gear.

I bought this amp because I needed more power for gigs and because the deal was too good to pass up. I would replace it for $259. You can't get a better 2x12 amp in that price range. If I had paid full price I would be upset.

As I said above, I love the AC-30 model this amp does- bright and jangly - makes me want a real AC-30. Overall though, the models are just OK - I haven't found any other models that I like a lot. There is a sort of "plasticity" to most of the low-gain sounds of this amp.

The high-gain sounds are great, and the wonderful HUSH effect makes this a nice rig for those who need heavy sounds. If you're looking for warm clean and bluesy overdrive tones - look elsewhere.

You've read them here. My only gripe about features is that it would have been nice to keep the speakers on when connecting to the direct out. Other than that, the features are great.

Sound Quality : 10
Wow! This amp does kick ass. I am blown away by the many different sounds I can get out of this thing. The Fender tones are superb. A/B'd it with a friend of mine's Blackface and we both agreed that the Rocktron not only nailed it, but sounded better! I've owned Marshall's and still have a JCM2000. I like the Rocktron sound better. I don't know how they do it but it just sounds punchier and overall better than the Marshall. I have owned a Boogie MkIV (which I do wish I would have never gotten rid of) but this thing sounds more like a Boogie than a Boogie. After having tried several modeling amps from the likes of Vox, Line6, Roland, Behringer, Hughes & Kettner, and Fender, the Rocktron Replitone quite frankly blows them all away. The Roland wasn't too bad. The H&K ZenTara amp was a huge disappointment considering the amount of money ($3,400.00) they want for it. It didn't sound as good as the Rocktron but better than the rest, but come on, that kind of money? No way!

I use several different guitars with the Replitone. I have my Phrankenstrat which is a Fender strat body, a Fernandes neck and DiMarzio HS2 P/U's in all three positions. Volume pot only, no tone pots. It sounds awesome! I also have a Fernandes FR-40(I believe)neck-thru with the reverse headstock. It has a DiMarzio PAF Pro humbucker in the bridge and two HS2's for the singles. I'm using a G&L Comanche and a G&L ASAT Classic as well as an Ibanez Artcore AF75. All these guitars sound superb.

The amp itself is not noisy at all especially with Rocktron's built in HUSH unit. The effects are Intellifex quality (I have one of those too). And, unlike some other modeling amps, you can use more than one effect at once. The clean channels are unbelievable. As I said before, clean? This amp has those beautiful Fender sounds covered completely. The distortion, depending on the model you are using, can be distorted as anything I have heard anywhere, whether on an cd or live. The Texas and Blues settings are great for that SRV sound. If you want brutal distortion, choose the High Gain, Mega Gain, Thrash, or Grunge will have what you want. With this amp, I can pretty much dial in any sound I want to. Whether I am playing country, southern rock, heavy metal, nu metal, or jazz and fusion, this rig will cover it.

Reliability : 10
I still own the Rocktron ProGap, Intellifex, Replifex, Voodu Valve, and several HUSH units, so I am going by other Rocktron equipment I've owned in the last 10 - 15 years. Never had one break down before and for two of those 15 years, I was on the road 150 - 200 days a year. Other times I've maintained gigging approximately 10 or so times a month.

Customer Support : 10
Have dealt with the company on a few occasions when I've had problems or questions (not with malfunction of the equipment just usage) and they have answered anything I have asked them courteously and promptly whether by phone or email.

Overall Rating : 10
Musicians Friend is blowing these things out right now at $299.00. At that price, there is no better deal on any amp anywhere! Trust me on this on, I've been playing a looonnnnngggggg time. This is by far the most versatile combo amp probably in existance. I've played so many other pieces of equipment I can't even begin to name them all. Nothing has impressed me as much as this amp. NO. I am not employed by Rocktron. I do, however, believe in the products they make and the quality of those products. I don't think pro players would use as much of their stuff if it wasn't good. If this amp were lost or stolen, I would do everything in my power to acquire another one. It is that good. And it sure beats the hell out of carrying my rack around. Two things I would have to say. If you get one, get the midi controller. I use the Midi-Mate. And I do wish Rocktron would come out with a mod for that headphone/direct out. It would be nice to go direct to the PA (which sounds incredible by the way) and still hear the speakers for monitoring purposes but hey, nothing is perfect is it? Do yourself a favor, GET THIS AMP!

This is a follow up to my previous review.
All the features you would probably want, and they have been listed.
I am deducting a point here from my previous review, not because I'm disappointed in the amp it's just that if it had a global EQ, it would be an almost perfect amp.

Sound Quality : 10
Hums, singles, No noise unless your guitar is pointed at the TV or something.
Great Fender, Marshall, and Mesa sounds, I even ABed it with my 60 Gretsh and nailed the Valco sound to a tee. It even reacts the same way with my volumn control, although with less resolution.
I had this amp for about 2 years and just started gigging with it and have had nothing but compliments on tone and sound. I'm using it instead of my Marshall tube 50 watt half stack. Less to lug around.
Take each stereo side out to 2 4/12 cabs if you really want to here this thing honk.

Reliability : 10
So Far So Good.

Customer Support : 10

Overall Rating : 9
For price, options and sound a solid 9, I deducted 1 point because of the need for a global EQ, the amps speakers should also have the option of on or off when recording or going to PA system.

This is a 6 month follow up from my first post about this amp. I LOVE this amp!!!!! as a matter of fact I just bought another one so I could run them stacked on top of each other. Not necessairly for the volume, but so I could hear more of the amp from the amp instead of the monitors, plus it looks cool to have a 4 foot stack of amps behind you when your playing 80s rock!

Sound Quality : 10
I still play my AM standard tele through this amp, but I also just got a G&L ASAT and with that guitar it is even tougher sounding. I've tried a humbucker guitar with it and after doing so, I can say this amp can play most of todays heavy metal. There is nothing this amp cant do!! I'm still using it in my 80s, 90s and modern rock band and we even throw in a country song every now and then and it covers all the styles I could ever want from Nickleback, Puddle of Mudd, Bon Jovi, Poison, Keith Urban, The Ramones, Creed... Name it, it can do it. I'm bumping my rating up a notch to a "10"!!!!! Have I mentioned this is a LOUD amp?

Reliability : 9
I have only had a little digital thing happen 2 times and never again. If I didnt think it was a reliable amp that would last a while, I wouldnt have bought another one for $100 more than my first one. I've play it 2 to 3 nights a week for the last 6 months, no other problems.

Customer Support : 10
Excellent!!! At first I was in contact with them about once a week with a question and they were very knoledgable and nice.

Overall Rating : 10
GET ONE!!! If your looking for a modeling amp to cover any style of music, this is it!! I tried a Spyder II last week just to see if anything has changed........ My Replitone still blows Line 6 stuff away. I'm currently recording with it this week and it sounds just as good on the recording and I hoped it would.

Features are abundantly discussed here so I will not fo into the details: 16 amps models, several very good effects, stereo, 2x12" speakers, etc....

Let's just say that I used to have pre-amps (tube) as well as digital rack mount effects and a Fender amp which are now gathering dust. This amp by itself can deliver all I currently need and I play quite a bit of different stuff all requiring quite different tones/effects combinations.

I have yet to get a foot controller for this thing and it's quite a shame that it doesn't come along with it because you'll need it in any gigging situation. I also am using a wah along with this thing. It does have one included as one of the effects function BUT as stated I don't yet have a foot controller or expression pedal so I can't rate it. I doubt it'll be any good though as nothing comes close to actual wahs to my experience.

The stereo effects and quite nice as are most of the effects built into this thing. Easy to use as well for those of use who hate programming effects units.

There are quite a few shortcomings to the versatility of the amp though. This comes mostly from the way that the effects are selected/tweaked. The reverb and delays each have their own knob along with a tap tempo button for delays. ALL the remaining effects (which are quite numerous) rely on a SINGLE switch, tweaking knob and tap tempo whenever applicable. This means that by itself you can't really combine effects besides reverb, delay and whatever effect you are adding. One exception is the HUSH circuit (kinda like a noise gate) which is always on but for which you set the treshold using the infamous effect knob. If it is always on, it would have been nice to have a dedicated knob wouldn't it? Compression is an effect in the infamous bunch so once again: can't use it in combination. his is where it hurts the most in terms of missing features... Now I know from the manual that the amp can be <controlled> through a computer which might allow for combined effects and independent controlling but I certainly don't feel like hooking up my computer to my amp in gigging sessions!

One additional feature which will be sooooo sweet: motorized knobs like the Yamaha! The have a pretty good led based system to let you know where things should be BUT automatic knobs would be much better.

I am being critical but I do feel that with just a little bit more control over the features (read: more knobs) this amp would be just perfect...

Sound Quality : 9
I am using this with both humbuckers and single coils and mini-humbuckers. It does suit my musical styleS which as stated are quite polyvalent.

This is a very powerful amp for solid state and will definitely hold its own against big stacks and heavy drummers. In fact it is one on the little problems with this amp: it has to be driven quite loud to deliver. I typically have no problem with that but my wife and baby do! One of the weird things which might be contributing to this probelm is that the level know doesn't deliver anything below about one fifth. This means having to put the thing quite high to get any decent sound. Not an amp to play in your room late at night at very low levels BUT will deliver once cranked.

The amp can make a LOT of sounds in whatever variety you'd like... The distortion can pretty much be as brutal as you want it to be by selecting more hi-gain type amps. I don't mind that every now and then but I prefer mopre subtle levels which this thing delivers fair and square!

In terms of noise: this thing can be VERY quiet by appropriate use of the HUSH circuitry. Knida scary because sometimes if you are muting your string and then hitting a power chord you can definitely startled your whole neighborhood (and I live out in the country with neighbours about 500' away!).

I will give it an 9: not quite tubes but pretty damn close for this reviewer!

Reliability : 7
So far so good. One of the annoyance is that the digital circuit makes a weid noise whenever you plug it in. Also there is this weird delay whenever you unplug earphones (wife and baby, remember?) before it switches on to the speakers... Finally every now and then when I am fiddling around with switches and knobs: I get this very bad and weird digital-type tone and sound which requires me to switch off then amp and switch it back on. Kinda weird. Finally: at very low levels it appears that only one side of the stereo amp is processing sound (both to speaker and to headphones).

Customer Support : No Opinion
No opinion yet but I have heard some bad things plus the website is bad.

Overall Rating : 9
For the price I paid this is a great value. I am thinking of selling my $$$ effects and fender amp which tells you a lot about this unit! Now the few negative things I pointed out shouldn't make you decide against that amp as it is a great amp, especially if you can find it used for a good price. And no more fussing with tubes will definitely be nice!

This Amp doesnt have as many features as (lets say) a Behringer V-Ampire, or a Line 6 Flextone, but I feel that the features that it does have are better than the above listed. It does have more features than the Line 6 Spider. I played with a Spider for one gig and it was too scooped out to sound decent for the type of music that my band plays. I really like the fact that the reverb and delay and Hush are available on all presets along with an additional effect from the dial (such as compression, flange, tremlo, chorus.......). It has 15 presets on the amp which are great and if you get a midi pedal you can add even more.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using Fender tele's to play through this amp. This amp can sound real close to a tube amp, but just doesnt have all the response that a tube amp has. I've been using a Fender Twin or a Deluxe now exclusivly for the last 10 years and did try a solid state amp every now and then hoping I could like it, but they all fell short up until this Replitone. Some of the amp models I will never even use because they do sound pretty bad, but for the most part all the clean tones are great and about 1/2 the distortion sounds are great. This amp does "cut through" much better than the Spider did. This would not be a good amp for a thrash guitarist, It just doesnt have enough gain for that, but I did find some great Zack Wylde tones in this amp. Oh, did I mention it is LOUD.....

Reliability : 7
I dont want to lead anybody wrong with this rating, but when I was tweaking the sounds the first day I had it, it made this weird metallic / harmonic type of sound when I played my guitar through it. I've seen this has happened to others here on this review section. I just turned it off and back on again and it has only done it one other time since then, and never at a gig. Built real sturdy.

Customer Support : 10
Great, made contact with them 2 times and both times they were real helpful. Once for help with my midi foot pedal and again about an EPROM update I heard about.

Overall Rating : 9
This will be my main amp at the lower paying gigs since it will only require minimal set up without sacrificing my sound, as with my Twin I would need my Twin, GNX2, Wah pedal, Tube Screamer, and 2 guitar cables and my wireless. With the Repliton I just need the amp the midi pedal and my wireless with a short cord. I hope this doesnt sound cheap of me, but you never know... I may start using this Repliton for my main amp, the next couple of gigs will let me know that. I play in an 80s, 90s and modern rock band, we started out country so If we go back to country this amp will probably be set back for a while since the twin is great for that.
