This is a report on the mostly Solid State Vendetta guitar amp head made by the current GHS/Rocktron. Not to be confused with the former all-tube amp Vendetta made by the former Rocktron. Made in 2006, This amp has the standard features you???d expect from any 2 channel head with the following

It does not come with a footswitch, and has hard to access/adjust trim pot controls on the backside. Children, Hobbits, Trolls and Leprechauns love hidden control items???Musicians do not. The tone controls, on the distortion channel, are active which allows volume shaping, which is a wasted feature in this amp. This is Hybrid amp which means that some one decided that it???s a good idea to put a cheap ass Chinese preamp tube in the pre-amp section of the circuit and it???s gonna be recto???YEAH===NOT!!!>The 12ax7 has a little window on the front panel so you can see it. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THIS TUBE, IT IS IN AN UNACCESSIBLE SPOT ON THE HEAD MODEL. IF YOU CRACK THE CASE YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED BY A PROFESSIONAL!!! Mine glows cherry red???What color is yours?

This amp can make a very good clean sound, with decent compression with effects. Which can be cranked pretty well and still hold it???s bottom. I.. er ah.. the distortion channel can take you from a lifeless Triumph ???Stages??? sound to a full Triumph ???Stages??? sound??? on every setting. I used a 4x12 with Celestion vintage 30???s and an Egnater 4x12 with eminences???.I used five guitars and with every one???Whalla???that duckbucking sound we all love but have forgotten. If you stand facing the amp you get a nice 60 cycle buzz from the diode plate that illuminates the ???Rocktron??? logo, and it won???t feed back. The distortion is as duckbucky as you can get. I tried it out with my OLP barn axis, Seymour duncans, my ???51 with a George lynch screamin deamon and my stock Tele???Duck bucked me outta the barn. The AGX is a joke, Noise gate on a amp that has reverb and no tail control around the gate. Frickin Genius!

It is built like a tank, but???I???d never need a backup cause I???ll never gig with it.

Rocktron in it???s day was a good to deal with company. GHS a string manufacturer bought them and I???ll never deal with them cause I???m getting rid of this amp

I???ve been playing 26 years, and own some Egnater, Rocktron/Egnater and Rocktron/Vendetta amps. I absolutely love these things. But shame on you??? GHS??? for putting the Vendetta name on your VH160R amp & others. May the amp Gods strike you down. Oh??? I am an amp god and look what I am doing!!! What a piece of shit I hope the waste management professionals take it.
