Solid-state rackmount stereo power amplifier. Power rates:
- 2x28W @ 16ohm
- 2x40W @ 8ohm
- 2x55W @ 4ohm
Two volume pots, one per channel.
Could have Reactance and Presence controls, like the "older brothers" Velocity 120 and Velocity 250. (Thus, the 8.)
Huge and massive volume! More than enough even for medium-sized gigs.

It's a well designed solid-state amp. Rocktron know what they do.
It's a very clear amp, very transparent. No noticeable tone coloration.
Great for a well tailored preamp tone. If you use power amp overdrive, forget this amp: it won't distort. (Thus, the 9.)
Been using it with a Rocktron Chameleon preamp, going into my rack effects chain, and into the Velocity 100.
This power amp was designed to be used with this preamp, so, it works beatutifully. It isn't noisy whatsoever.
Tone-wise, this power amp lets the preamp and the cabinet sound come through, as it is very transparent.
I've been using it with a Marshall 1960A and/or with a Behringer BG412V (both 4x12" slanted cabinets). The tone is radically different on both cabs.

I've been using it quite intensively in the past weeks. No problem whatsoever! This thing is built like a rock!
It's solid-state, so, not much can go wrong. I gig it without backup with no fears. :-)
Keep it correctly ventilated and it's always a good practice to have some spare fuses around. Just in case... Just for the record, it never blew ANY fuse!
If it overheats, it will shut down automatically.

Jim Chowning, Rocktron senior technician, is the best!
Never had any trouble with the Velocity 100, but I've had some issues in the past with a Rocktron effect unit and Jim and I were able to troubleshoot the problem just by e-mail!
Also, whenever I have some sort of a doubt, Jim is always available to drop an email with an answer, suggestion or reccomendation.
Rocktron has the best Customer Support I have EVER delt with! :-)

I will give it (only) 9 just because its output power decreases with the cabinet impedance.
Though I'd like it to have Reactance and Presence knobs, it isn't really a must on this power amp.
With 2x50W, 1U, solid-state, and a very competitive price, you can't ask for much more!
Rocktron DO know what they do and they really know how to make a solid-state power amp sound GOOD!
