Well, this is a beast of a power amp, to begin with. No fan, never get too hot, but the sound is way hotter than I expected (nothing to do with your typical pa power amp).
Controls are fantastic (reactance for the chugga chunk factor, definition for the bite factor), as is the flexibility of the thing (4-16 ohms stereo, 8-16 bridged, jack inputs/outputs).
Not too heavy as well, almost light.

Wonderful, surely the best guitar power amp bar none.
And it can does a decent pa job if required (with reactance and definition set at min).
What I do like with my simplistic setup (triAc to tsunami to velocity250) is the punch and clarity available. And the reactance/definition controls are so much useful, somewhat of a life insurance when gigging.
I cannot think of anything less than excellent in the sound quality department.

Well, after some years of use I had crackling sound issues, cured by spraying some tuner600 in the six pots.
When driven loud one channel fades sometimes, not for long but still annoying. Since I relocated the heat sensor no problems anymore.
These sensors are not put professionnally at all I think, they just hang near the power transistors. At least in my unit, given by a friend long ago.

Rocktron has very good online user manual service I think, and free.
Great!
Other than this I wouldn't bet on support, since they have been sold to ghs or so.
It always come to your dealer in the end...

Love it. No matter your stuff the velocity will deliver.
TriAc is warm and analog, ok. But other gizmos I have are digital and the velocity does a great job in re-birthing them.
My genesis one unit sounds quite dull by itself, but through my bassman ri it comes incredibly lively, warm and spanky. The same with the velocity, with much more flexibility and power on tap.
The perfect power amp, if you can find one.

With my set-up - which would be: Gibson LP Studio -> AKG wireless system -> Sans-Amp PSA1 -> Rocktron Intellifex On-Line -> Rocktron Velocity 250 -> two Metaltronix 4x12 cabs - I sound pissed! Even though it ain't tube gear, the Rocktron delivers in sparkling cleans and them Chunk-Chugga-Chuck distortions. Satisfies my needs.

I bought it from a friend for a steal, he said it has been repaired a few times already because of some weird accident on the road. I've had it for some six months and - well - it still breathes. I find it trustworthy enough to use without back-up (how many people do you know who have a power amp for back-up?)

Been playing for some 5? years and have played with some quite crappy gear until recently... I bought a double stack last summer and the Velocity was a find. It's got a good sound to it and is reasonably cheap. Of course it won't beat the sound of an all-tube Engl, but remains an excellent power amp. In case you find one, buy it.

Meat and potatoes solid state amp, 2-space rack mounted. 2 channels, 125w/channel stereo @ 4 ohms or bridged mono 250w @ 8 ohms. Separate volume, reactance, definition controls. Pushbutton for dual 4-ohm or bridged mono 8-ohm output. Other controls are not really necessary, IMHO. Has massive heat sinks, never gets hot. You can put this right under anything in your rack. Best used with more than one cabinet, or one stereo cab as in my rig. I changed the power LED to a blue one as a matter of taste.

My main guitar is an ESP Horizon U.S. Standard with Dimarzio Air Zone in the bridge and Air Norton in the neck, has 90 switches, and gets any tone possible. I use Rocktron's Chameleon 2000 preamp > Alesis 3630 compressor > Velocity 250 > stereo Peavy 4x12 cab w/75watt Sheffields. I jam with a couple of guys and we play Proggy-jazzy-funky-(sometimes heshy)improv stuff. With that compressor there, I can get DEEP grinding low end and mid emphasis without getting muddy, or vast shimmering cleans without getting tinny, and the Velocity 250 eats it up. I mean it goes CHUNK-CHUNK-CHUGGA-CHUNK. The R. & D. controls get you heard in the mix at gigs if you're miked to a P.A. that is at the cieling. I have a totally digital preamp there, so this rig is actually noiseless. It could also be a good small P.A. amp.

I would never again gig without a backup as a matter of principle, but I probably could. This amp has never quit, although i did have to replace one vol. pot because of scratchiness, but pots do go sometimes. If i dropped it, I would worry about whatever I dropped it on rather than the amp. With that said, just don't drop it on the backup amp. The Show Must Go On!

I never called them. If I can't fix it, I know someone who can.

I have been playing (guitar)for 12 years. I bought this amp in a pawn shop 2 years ago. It even came with a 6 space rack. My whole rig fits in there now, with room to spare. So if it were stolen, there goes the whole shootin match, knowhuddimean? I have only seen one for sale since i bought mine, so i would probably try to find something like it or better. I give it a 9 because nothing's perfect.

Rack mounted solid-state power amp features 125 watts/channel into 4 ohms, 90 per side into 8 ohms. Each channel has independant level, Definition and reactance controls (see below). Unit alledgedly shuts down if there are speaker problems, such as a short. According to Rocktron Tech Support, there is some flexibility in driving each individual channel. (i.e. V-250 is rated at a minimum of 8 ohms in mono-mode; If you have only a 4 ohm cabinet, run it in stereo, with one channel left unused)

I took the v-250 to a gig the other night: We play various guitar- oriented rock. The v-250 worked very well. The definition control allows you to make your sound more prominent by emphasizing the mids. This is fairly subtle, and may help you get louder in the mix without adjusting your volume level. The reactance control is very hard to explain. Again, its fairly subtle. Rocktron defines this as the amount of interaction with the speakers the amp has. I noticed that as I turned up the control, lead notes seemed a little more "buttery" :) Again, this is very hard to define, and rather subtle.
Out of the box, the amp sounded very good for clean or dirty. VERY punchy, Very Loud. No noise to speak of.

I called to find out about driving the channels with different loads. WHen I got a hold of someone, they were very helpful. They didn't return my call within a few hours, so I called them back rather than wait. Little Experience, otherwise

So far, I've been very pleased. I drive (2) 4x12 cabs with different impedances. I was using an ADA Microfet 100, and of course, at 3x the price, this blows it away.
