Wedge shaped 1 X 12 guitar speaker extension cabinet. Sealed back with ports. Has everything an extension cabinet needs.

Sound Quality : 1
I had the same experience as one reviewer had below. The cabinet had so much rattling and buzzing that it was rendered useless. These godawful noises plagued the cabinet at low volumes also.

When I first got the cabinet new, it did have very good tone for about a year. It had punchy bass, nice midrange, and an overall articulate sound. Once it started buzzing though, the sound went to hell. I tried tightening up everything but to no avail. I would have rated this cabinet about an 8 or so when new, but due to its horrible buzzing after about a year, I can only rate it a one.

Reliability : 2
It worked great for a year. Then it went to pot. Perhaps I had a lemon.

Customer Support : 5
I called customer support about the problem and was treated respectfull, but they didn't resolve the issue. Since the warranty had expired, they wouldn't offer to replace it. They had no suggestions on how to remedy it other than to tighten everything up. They suggested that I contact the vendor (Musiciansfriend)to see if they would replace it. They wouldn't either. I don't fault them for that because the warranty did expire. However, a really stellar company would have offered to replace it since the warranty was only one month past.

Overall Rating : 1
I've been playing for about 10 years and have way too much gear to list. My style is fairly unique: I'd call it experimental with a Blueish feel to it. I give it an overall rating of one since it became useless after a year. I traded it for a Boss DS-1 distortion pedal, which I really like.

1 x 12 speaker cabinet, ported, tolex covered wood (?), trapezoidal shape, with input and both parallel and series out. Closed cabinet with metal grill. Relatively light in weight, with a handle on top for easy transport.

Sound Quality : 10
I bought this used, and the previous owner had swapped-out the stock Rocktron speaker with a Celestion Vintage 30. I got it to add some punch to my little Fender Super Champ. And MAN, does it add some punch! Crisp cutting highs, clear mids, and bottom like I've never heard from my amp.

If you've read any of the reviews for the Super Champ here at Harmony Central, you will see that several reviewers have commented on the lack of bass response. Will this little cabinet certainly fixes that problem. I use to run my bass setting at about 8-9 most of the time...with this little cabinet, it never gets past 3.

I love my Super Champ, and the tones it produces, but the addition of this cabinet has really brought it to life. I'm hearing tones I didn't even know it was capable of producing. It's hard to believe how much sound this cabinet and a little 18 watt amp can produce. The only criticism I can come up with is that in clean mode the highs can be a little harsh, but this may be attributed to a speaker that's not broken it well yet.

Reliability : No Opinion
Don't know yet...seems solid as a rock...we'll see in time.

Nada...

Been playing guitar since around 1974. Currently I'm playing an early 70's Les Paul Deluxe and a mid-80's Fender Japanese squier strat. And of course my Fender Super Champ. If this cabinet were lost or stolen, my Super Champ and I would have a good cry, then I'd go get another one (although I might consider a 212 cab instead).

It is a small, lightweight, ported, 1x12 guitar speaker cabinet containing a "Rocktron-voiced" speaker. It has a trapezoid shape like many PA speakers. It has a metal grill that wedges into place. It has a recessed handle at the top and rubber feet at the bottom. It is covered with black tolex.

It has three jacks: input, parallel output, series output. I like the versatility of the two types of output.

Sound Quality : 8
For comparison, I have a Mesa 3/4-back 1x12 cabinet with a Celestion Vintage 30. I love that cabinet. It has some of the thump of a closed-back cab with the airy dispersion of an open-back cab. I can get nice strat-quack sounds as well as a woody guitar crunch.

The rocktron speaker has almost the same amount of bass as the Mesa cab. It doesn't thump as much, but it does sound full. I noticed that the cab really resonates and thumps when you hit a low B note on your guitar, so whenever I play a B note, I hit the strings lighter. But overall, I don't think a single Rocktron Velocity speaker cabinet has enough thump for metal players.

The highs seem very muffled compared to the Mesa cab. You can really notice this when using distortion. So you may have to increase the treble on your amp. My soundman loves the speaker because of its darkness. If you put your ear down where you mic your speaker, you'll notice how bright and sometimes harsh it can be (especially with many Celestions). So it sounds pretty good right at the speaker, but when you're standing up, it sounds pretty dark.

In an effort to get my crunchy highs back, I experimented with using different speakers in the cab. I tried a Celestion Vintage 30, a Mesa Black Shadow (Celestion MC-90), and a Reverend Alltone speaker. The first thing I noticed was that they all were brighter than the Rocktron speaker. There were no more muffled highs. My crunchy distortion was back! Unfortunately, the cabinet has no bottom end when using these speakers. So it appears that a lot of the tone of the Rocktron speaker cabinet comes from dark and bassy voicing of the Rocktron speaker itself.

It has good sound isolation. The sound definitely drops off as you move away from the front of the speaker. This may be a pro or con depending on your situation. I kind of like it since I'm not blasting my bandmates. But on the flipside, they sometimes have trouble hearing me. I tried using a Weber Beam Blocker to disperse the highs (like I used to do on my Mesa cab with the Vintage 30) but it really has no effect, in fact it even makes the speaker sound even darker.

I've only played it a couple months. No problems yet.

The cabinet appears to be made of pressed wood, or something like that. It's definitely not plywood. I don't know if that presents potential problems or not.

Never dealt with the company.
Has a 1-year warranty.

I've been playing live on and off for about 12 years.

I use it as an extension cabinet for my Gibson Goldtone GA-15RV 1x12 combo amp since it sounds small and boxy when using the amp's speaker.

I've been using it with these distortion pedals: Xotic BB Preamp, Fulltone Fulldrive 2, ToneBone Hot British.

The reason I bought this speaker was to use it like a monitor in front of me at gigs. I lay it on it's side and prop it up a bit to point at my head. The soundman loves this setup because the guitar sound on stage is isolated from the audience. He then has total control of the guitar sound going out to the audience via the PA. When I was using the Mesa cab behind me in the traditional "backline" setup, he was always telling me to turn down even though I was never louder than the drums or bass. Now that I have it in front of me, I can play at the same volume without any complaints.

Since I'm using it like a monitor, I wish it was shaped more like a monitor wedge so I wouldn't have to prop it up to point it at my head. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any company that sells a guitar speaker cabinet in the shape of a monitor wedge. If I did, I would definitely check it out.

It has a relatively low price, so I think it's a pretty good value.

I think it would be a lot better if it had a brighter speaker that still retained the low end of the "Rocktron-voiced" speaker.

Awful buzzing. Whenever I use clean sounds, the cabs buzz in the top or top-left portion of the speakers. Ick! Absolutely unusable, so I'm sending them back to Musician's Friend.

Reliability : 5
They look pretty well designed, metal corners, nice handles, decent construction, except for the buzzing/rattling when played thru!

Not dealt with them.

These were the cheapest 1x12 cab on Musician's Friend, and I feel like I got what I paid for. I am not keeping these and will replace them with a Genz Benz G-Flex 212.

1x12" Speaker Enclosure, 65watts/8ohms, trapezoid housing like a stage monitor, very lightweight. I own the older version which is still covered with black textile fabric and speaker is still Eminence. The newer models have the same format but different material on the outside and a Rocktron Custom speaker (whatever that means, maybe it's still eminence speakers *lol*). The front is protected by a black metal grid. It looks actually very small and is extremely handy for transport.....so my back loved it before my ears heard any sound ;o))
One standard input jack and two outs (parallel or serial) which is extremely comfortable as it makes the cab very flexible depending on the power amp you're using. Actually I own two of this species, to run my system stereo.

Sound Quality : 9
The current setup is: guitar (various)> Marshall JMP-1/Intellifex > Rocktron Velocity 100 > S-112
I play mainly what most people would categorize as Prog (though I don't really like those categories) and use a variety of completely different sounds with a lot of effects from the Intellifex. The Velocity Cab is a perfect companion for this, extremely transparent sound, it does not focus on any part of the tonal spectrum, but offers exactly what it gets from the amps.....that's perfect, I guess. At least >I< like it that way.
Maybe for the HiGain department among you people out there, it might be a bit weak at the bottom if run only in a two-cabs configuration. Then get at least four, stack them and connect to a powerful amp....there you are. So in this category a '9' only because you have to purchase more enclosures, when you became an instant addict to hte basic sound, but need more power from the bottom end, hahahaha...
For me it's just perfect :o))

Reliability : 10
Speaker backups? No way, this thing is rock solid but lightweight, so I don't even waste a thought about a backup. To destroy it you'd need a truck or train to run over it, otherwise no probs. But I take good care of my gear anyway.

Customer Support : 8
Email them, you get quick but short replies. It's fine with me, I don't care about bullsh....ng other people's brains, but maybe according to industry standards, some people expect more. I'll rate it at '8'

Overall Rating : 9
I play for more than 20 years now, having owned tons of gear, and still have some other things lying around. I checked the Velocity cabs also on different poweramps, like the Hughes&Kettner CF100 (very good power amp, I have two of them to run stereo). In a mono setup with the S-112 running in parallel from the CF100's speaker outs, this cab really is even more powerful, so one day I might have four of them to blow away all the Marshall stacks, hahahaha.
I had also run my Rocktron Chameleon in front to check on versatility, same brilliant result. Compared to the ADA Stackables 112 (also still among my little helpers) which hold Celestion 1x12" Speakers, the Rocktron wins due to clarity of sound, though the ADA's are a little more powerful.
For the price I paid, this was a real bargain, and if it were stolen, I'd hunt that m....f....er down, lock him inside a 412 cabinet and let some fresh ass play 'Smoke on the water' for 48hrs......and of course I'd get new ones as soon as possible ;o))

I Play everything from vintage to current Gibson, Carvin, Fender and custom guitars through these cabinets. They work well with my tube heads, Sansamp and modeling Rigs! They have balanced frequency respose, They're Ported - extending the low end response (Like Genz benz G-flex cabs)and increasing the volume, very directional providing great isolation during recording and on stage. the other players hear me enough without drowning them out and I hear me enough to dial in the tones I want at that time. I play every style of music thru them! I gave these speaker cabinets a rating of 9! Speakers selected for specific applications are the only speakers that would get a 10! and more $$$ would be required. These Keep the Budget real, Hmmmm, Lottery??? These Speakers will always be in My versatile Rigs!

Reliability : 10
