2002 Model. Solid State amp (don't let that put you off!!) 2 switchable channels (JC Clean and Lead), the Lead channel has 6 amp models to choose from and an acoustic simulator. Has some nice effexts (chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo) I'll probably only use the phaser to make people laugh though as it's TOO weird!! The Delay and reverb is pretty good on this amp! I use this amp in my bedroom but it CAN get loud!! Maybe not for gigging but it's got a lot ov volume.

I play on an Ibanez 470L (I'm a lefty)with EMG pickups, I play metal mainly so my main use is the R-Fier setting on the lead channel which models a MESA/Boogie Rectifier, it doesn't sound EXACTLY like it, only a proper MESA/Boogie will, but it's close enough to be a great sound, I no longer need to steal my brothers Metalzone, this amp sounds better!! The only noise I noticed was, bizarrely enough, on the Acoustic emulator!! There's a soft hissing sound, but the sound when your playing is great though!

I've been playing for almost 2 years so I'm still a mere beginner, but I CAN appreciate good tone, for the price you pay this amp is very good, a LOT of bang for your buck!! I would buy it again if it got stolen.

2002 New cube 30. It has 30 watts and 8 cosm models, seperate reverb/delay and a seperate effects section. It has two channels;clean (jc 120 model) and 7 lead settings, although the first lead setting is an acoustic simulator so in a sense it has six lead settings and 2 clean. I play all styles from metal to country and jazz, so I needed versatility. I also needed something to sound good at low volume. I tried them all from marshall to mesa and they just didn't have what I needed. This little amp has it all. It has a direct out which doubles as a headphone amp, as well as aux inputs. It has a footswitch input for channel and effects switching. The amp models sound fantastic. I love tubes, but I don't love the maintenence required for them. You would never know this is solid state. The lead channels break up just like tubes do and the models run the gammut from Jazz chorus clean to Mesa distortion. The gain knob really works. It will go from sparkling clean to thrash. The tweed setting is spot on perfect as is the JC clean setting. It just won't distort no matter how hard it's pushed.

I use a variety of guitars from gibson explorer to custom made single coil equiped super strats. There is no noise what so ever. I didn't want a strictly headphone style modeling unit, so this really suits my needs. I can mic it if I want or go direct. I did find that the best way to use other distortion pedals was on the clean channel, otherwise it gets grainy. The onboard effects sound clean and usable. The reverb and delay is a separate unit, so you can combine the effects.

It is solid state and built by Roland, so I don't expect any problems. It feels very solid compared with to the other amps in its range. The peavey and marshall were pretty shabby by comparison.

I have been playing for over 20 years, so I have played with a lot of gear over the years. This little amp is a breath of fresh air. If it were stolen, I would definitely get another one. I think Roland really did their homework on this one. You can't go wrong for the money. Get two and run them in stereo. It is also loud enough for small gigs and perfect for recording.

I own quality equipment and have never dreamed I would buy an amp like this. This little amp is the swiss army knife of guitar amps.It is the best purchase I have made for many a year. Channel One is the typical Roland cube tone with to my ear a little more ompf than previously. It stays clean all the way to 10.
Channel two is the COSM amp types. To best describe these one needs to be slightly broad minded. It would be fair to say that none of the models are exactly like the originals. It is also necessary to say that the models provide a very versatile sound and I was extremely satisfied with the end the result. Don't let me put you off here the sounds available are great and all useable. Some of the modelling amps five times the price of this baby get closer to the original amps but to my ear don't really have any character. This little fella provided a much more worthwhile result and on all the models produced tones which could be musical & dramatic. For example a killer blues tone lives in rectifier channel with the gain down to half & your strat volume down to half. A strange place for a blues tone but it is gritty, sustained & different in a great way.The distortion channels are some of the better ones I've heard. The effects are another story. Chorus,Flanger and Phaser are tremendous. Delay is OK. Reverb is ok in small amounts and tremelo is fairly useless. The bass response is something all guitarist want and this little fella is quite powerful.
So your still reading - I own a Mark 4 Boogie, several high end guitars and effects and believe my tone is very important. This little amp is a breath of fresh air. It's easy to carry, relatively powerful and has great distortion & clean channels . I would say many people in the future will purchase this amp to practice, jam & learn with. It falls short of being the absoulute tone monster we all strive for however at the price every guitarist should have one.I believe it can produce wonderful tones for rythymn work and excels here. It lacks the type of overdrive sustain quality valve amps have but will put in the shade all it's rivals even to amps 4 times it's cost.

Using Standard Tel (stock pick-ups). I play: country, blues, funk, classic rock, & metal. No jazz, thank you. Set on the clean channel and crank to 10. It will blow you windows out and stay clean. Set on channel two and select "recify". Turn the gain all the way up - there's enough distortion for even a beginer to sound good.

Don't know. I had a Roland amp back in the 70's - never had a problem. It's solid state, so it should just fine.
