WOOOO WEEE they finally released the CUBE 60. I've had the CUBE 30 for a while. I love this cube series of amps. I think the key to these amps is the FEEL of the tone. other amps don't have that feel, thus you don't play as well. What i mean by feel, is that the amp is like one with the guitar and does not alter the tone of the guitar.
the cube 60 has more options than the cube 30, but cost a little more $125. it has a record out, line out, speaker out, effects, overdrives, 2 channels.

Sound Quality : 10
My opinion, best sounding amp. I have had so many amps, SUPER REVERB, TWIN, CUBE 30, VOX AD30, and so on. The cube amps provides me with a tone that makes me play better. I think the VOX AD 30 series lack the feel you get from the cube amps. I need to sell my VOX. I still have my super reverb, but i play the cube more. I can get tones out of the cube that just make playen guitar so fun. I get tones with that SRV brite bite crunch i can't get with the super reverb. I need to sell the super reverb. I think the cube 60 is a little louder than the cube 30 and sounds a little warmer. I still like the cube 30, so i'll keep it. I wish the cube 60 had a aux in like the cube 30, but i think the cube 60 is a little more professional. I highly recommend you try one before buying another amp, i think you'll be suprised. try a fender guitar with a setting of STACK, Gain=10, Vol=11, Bass=3, Treble=1, Mid=9, Reverb=3. All settings are in "TIME CLOCK" settings. I think thats a awsome SRV tone for TEXAS FLOOD.

Reliability : 10
no problems with the CUBE series

i've been playing 15 years. I take my cube amp to all the local bars to JAM. I'm a blues/classic rock guy. I personally don't think any other kinds of music exist. I love this CUBE 60 amp and will keep it for a long time. I have other expensive amps, but i'm selling them and keeping the cube 30 and 60. i like that the 60 can plug into a PA system, so if you need more volume you can get it. But, its pretty loud.

2004 cube 60 has two channels 9 amp modles and 6 effets.also has line out spk out headphones jack and channel,effects,reverb/delay on and off with footstitch. Most powerfull solidstate 60 watt I have ever heard !! I give it a 8 because I wish it had three channles insted of two.

Sound Quality : 9
I use ibanez jems and a ltd 1000 C with active emg's. I play all kinds of stuff with the band Iam in and it would work out great if I had one more channle.I run a boss ME50 in front of it and just keep it on the clean channle on the cube.I think the amp models in the amp are good and the effects are good also.you dont have alot of control over the effects but at least they are there.I only use a little chorus and reverb anyway.Sounds great at high volume levels with and without the ME50.The distortions sound good to me and for what it is its great.I have to go with a 9 on this one because the amp models are good and even the acustic sounds good on my jem with the single coil.

Reliability : 8
I got it brand new and have had it for a couple of weeks.so far so good.Has a steel grill and all the corners are protected.I think it will last a long time.

never delt with roland or boss.

Ok, here we go....I have been looking for a powerfull but SMALL amp for a long time.Over the years I have looked at peavey, line 6 spiders, fender and marshall.None of these small amps would hold up at a high volumes. This cube was even louder and more clear than the new 75 watt spider.plus the cube has a spk out and does not kill the internal speaker when you plug in another cab.Like all the rest of us here I have owned all kinds of stuff over the past 20 years and still have my marshall VS265 a line 6 flextone head with stereo 4/12 cab and a marshall VS2000 150 combo.I wanted somthing that would punch through the mix but be small at the same time. With this amp weighing in at only 32 pounds all I take now in my guitar my boss ME50 and my cube.If you only need two channles to play out with this is your amp! you do have to buy the roland foot pedel to change channles but others brands would work.Wish our other guitarist would store the 4/12 he is using and go with one of these :-) I love and give this kickass death cube a 9.If it had three channles and came with a footswitch it would get a 10.

2004 model. Just released. I'm one of the first owners, I'm sure.

This amp has MANY features! Seven(eight really) amp models. Acoustic, Black Panel, Brit Combo, Tweed, Stack Classic, Metal, R-Fier, and Dyna Amp(very sweet). Effects include, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Delay, and Reverb. The Cube-60 sports these options with two channels. JC-Clean and Lead.

Sound Quality : 8
I just got this amp and have played it for two hours straight using a Gibson Les Paul with JB model pickups and WOW, did it ever sound amazing! I'm not an expert on amp models, but I've played many modeling amps, and I'll have to admit, this, in my opinion, is the best modeling amp that I've personally played though. It's kinda scary actually.

The Cube-60 will cover beautifully most any amp sound you're after. My son Jordan is playing as I type this, and he seems to have found a Randy Rhoads( his main guitar hero) tone that is damn near spot-on. The clean channel is Rolands own, I believe. It's the sweet clean tone that Roland is famous for.

As for the Distortion, OMG, it'll reach any insane level of distortion you'll ever need. When you're not playing, it's as quite as a mouse!

I'll give the overall tones an 8, as the perfect "10" tone only exists in my head. But many of the tones this amp offers is as close as I've ever got.

Reliability : 10
If this amp is like any other Roland, reliability will be a non-issue.

I've never had to use their customer support. So I don't really know. I understand it's very good though.

I've been playing for over twenty years and have played in a few popular local hard rock bands. I, of course, love playing both traditional and Rock and Roll type blues.

I've been looking for an amp like this my whole life, no lie. If it where stolen I would replace it ASAP! It's small, light weight, and looks very rugged and durable.

I choose this amp based on the very good reviews the Roland Cube-30 received. I did not however, omit such brands as Line-6 and all the other small combo modeling amps. You know who they are.

As a result, I'm very pleased I choose the Cube-60 having played through the many other modeling type amps. For the price, given it's great tones and many features, the Roland Cube-60 is probably the best little combo amp on the market right now.

Will it gig? Pfft, hell yes!

2004, I play classic rock from Deep Purple, AC/DC, to GNR & Lynard Skynard, ZZTop, Pink Floyd and more. I can find all the sounds I want. Would like to have gain on the clean channel. I play mainly in my basement guitar room along with CDs and the volume is perfect. My 40 watt Traynor YCV40WR couldn't be adjusted to the lower volumes that I want. I also have a Traynor YCV20WR that I use too.

Sound Quality : 10
Using a 2003 Gibson SG Standard and it sounds great with volume & tone on 10. I plug into a Boss Noise Reducer, loop A Dunlop wah & a compressor back into the Noise Reducer then plug the Reducer into the amp. Very quiet!!! The amp goes from clean to high distortions that I love, all at a low volume. I also use a 2002 Fender American Strat the doesn't sound as good as the SG. The sound isn't as full and I have to turn the tone down to 2 or 3 and it still isn't as nice as the SG. I am going to put a humbucker in the Strat bridge and see if it makes a difference. I run two amps at the same time wich gives me a great sound. I run a y-cord from the Noise Reducer into my Traynor YCV20 Tube amp. Both amps sound great together!

Reliability : 10
Ive had A Roland VG-88 and a GR-33 and plenty of Boss pedals so I'm confident that this unit will last longer than me. I would depend on it without a backup amp.

I'm 47, been playing since I was 4 years old. I love this amp! Own a Traynor YVC20 Tube amp, Korg AX1500 effect unit, have owned countless amps, pedals, guitars, effects, etc, but have finally found everything I need in the Gibson SG,the Traynor 15 watt tube amp, the Roland Cube 60, and my setup above.

60 incredibly loud closed back cab watts; 9 COSM models; 4 modulation effects + seperate delay/reverb; 32 lbs. Line out, tuner out headphone/recording out, channel and effects on/off footswitching

Sound Quality : 8
I'm giving this thing an 8 because the sounds I find usable are quite good and dynamic, but the high gain COSM models are a shrill buzzfest. Metal guys, this is not your amp. I saw the NAMM demo video on the Roland website, and the high gain settings sounded better than what I'm getting...in fairness, I imagine they sound more convincing in a cavernous tradeshow center than in my little practice room. But the good news is, I like the JC Clean, killer blackface, British combo, and tweed settings. I A/B'd them with a Fender Blues Jr., and I've owned the entire Hot Rod line, so I am pleased with what I'm getting in these models. They lack a little complexity, but are pleasantly free of stray harmonics...more homogenous is good for my purposes, which run from Joe Pass solo guitar to Wayne Krantz wannabe to Angus tyrades.

This brings me to the most important thing I cn pass along. Who will like this amp? Primarily older guys like myself (44) who want to get in and out of the gig as quick as possible and have a history of back problems (32 lbs., I reiterate). For all you jazz geeks who actually liked the old Polytones, rejoice. Your ship has come in. This thing is what we always wanted the Polytone to be. The bass is full and tight, but you also can get some tube warmth via the tweed and British combo models...guitar volume down=George Benson, volume up=Larry Carlton/Robben Ford/Wayne Krantz -ISH solo tones. Works nicely with a GOOD compressor in front...it helps support the illusion of getting some tube power amp bloom on solos. You can even get into David Gilmour territory, if you like.

Which brings me to the effects. Imagine serviceable Boss effects with the effect level SET at 50-65%. I agree, they are a bit overbearing, and you may want to augment with pedals, especially since the delay and reverb share a control and are not selectable between the two by footswitch, but I still find a slew of useable settings nonetheless.

Back to the high gain models. I noticed in the brief non-spell-checked manual that the speaker sim is only in the path on the rec/phone out. This sounds reasonable, but I think we all know from POD and other modeling experience that the speaker sim is often the completing touch in a more convincing sound...regardless of what your piping it through--PA or tube combo. Budget/price point constraints, I suppose. So guess what? $350 gets you a cool and loud clean jazz/country/blues amp with some bare essential effects. Not bad, Roland.

No rating yet (had it two weeks). Made in China from who-knows-what for the cab, but it has that old Cube/747 wheel chock feel which instills confidence. Metal grill rocks. This thing looks like it was morphed from a Jeep Cherokee unibody design! No extraneous rattles or buzzes whatsoever. "Newly designed speaker" seems extremely efficient and able to take what the amp deals out.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I hear they exist. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Overall Rating : 8
Been playing 39 years, have owned bla bla bla...bunch of stuff. Compared to other modelers and tube amps under $600. I chose to keep this one because I HAVE to have acceptable Fender V-curve clean with spank that does and does not clip, AND a round mid jazz tone that does and does not clip. It's amazing how many amps WON'T pass this test. 40watt-and-under tube amps do the clip thing well (Peavey classic 30, HR Deluxe, etc. Line 6 still doesn't get that clean for some of us means way cleaner than "slightly cleaner than Dime plays", and that "tone" is not a term that is exclusive to the overdriven realm. My most recent solutions have been a 4X10 Deville and a Tech 21 TM60 + power engine. This thing has the versatility+ of the Tech 21, but the firm stout bottom of the Deville in a Blues Jr. size package. I think they're going to sell a zillion of these. Look past the feature list and ask if it does what you will really need.

Brand new $348.
2 channels. Clean is good.
I give the features a low rating because they are on the verge on being useless. The main problem with this amp (besides the fact that everything sounds the same (flange sounds like a phaser and all the amp settings sound like the same amp) is that there is no effects level control. The effect you choose is either ON or OFF, and when it's on, it's ON, and it destroys what little guitar tone there actually was in the first place. This I overlooked in the guitar shop and now makes me realize that the Fender Cyber Deluxe is a better amp overall. The delay is beyond useless, in fact I think mine's broken, that's how bad it is.

However, the reason I bought this amp is for home use because I live at the beach and can't play tube amps at home. So - it suits me perfectly. The reason I chose this over the Cyber Deluxe is because the heavier stuff is better on this amp and I believe the speaker is better as well.

Sound Quality : 7
Custom Tele, PRS, Custom SG, 1957 RI Les Paul.

It works.... Clean channel is pretty good, the acoustic guitar setting works well, and you have 3 "heavy" amp choices which are cool if you want them. The bassman setting is fun. It sounds fine at any volume (have not cranked it yet, that's not why I got it). It is a very fun amp. Another advantage to this over the Fender is that you can EXT SPEAKER (4x12 easily) or Line out into another amp, as well as direct recording out and headphone jack. Sounded better in the guitar shop. When I got home and spent more time I realized the flaws with this amp pretty quick, particulary the effects, I can't believe they didn't make them better.

The sound is artificial, and sounds that way. Which is fine with me for $350. If you're expecting to get some kind of "killer tone" with something like this you must live in Amsterdam or Humbolt County. For $350, it's a good value. One thing worth noting is that this thing sounds way better than the Cube 30. The 30 has no bass response or balls whatsoever.

I put it on "British Combo" (EL84 combo) and then placed the amp next to an EL84 combo and the difference in sound is enourmous.
It sounds "kinda like" an EL84 combo, but nowhere near like the real thing when you hear them both next to each other.

The Marshall setting is like AC/DC or Led Zep, kinda old Marshall setting, the 5150 is more like a modern Marshall, and sounds good. The Mesa setting is the heaviest sounding and emulates fairly well.
I haven't hooked it up to a 4x12 yet, that will be interesting.

15 years playing, other gear is Fender Bassman, Fender Blues Junior, Marshall Heads. I like the speaker in this amp, it definately sounds good enough for me not to take it back (I took both Fender Cybers back) I'm glad I bought it.

I guess 2004 . The amp is V versatile and has some excellent models.guitar is very much a secondary instrument of mine Being a singer and wood wind specialist.I do however play rhythm in two of my pro bands and the amp is much better at this than my previous investement. The ensemble I play in have me need four basic sounds.1)clean but warm for Benson/Carlton Rhythm but must sound good in a Strattish setting.2)good classic crunch sound that sound old and light at the bridge and more modern though not too driven at the bridge.3)hi gain lead sound though this not as crucial but needs delay to thicken a sound more remeniscent of a Brit valve hot wired.4)Acoustic.These sounds are used in a variety of styles from Greeny Blues and 70's Funk to 80's Soul and Pop and the occasional Splash of Halen and Lizz.Though of late the Duo Requires more Benson/Steely/Carlton Sounds. The amps chorus is a little too much for me on it lowest setting indeed the micro amp I bought which got me to thinking of trading my previous amp seemed more subtle, thugh it's much better than my last amp.It has no tuner which is a shame though the tuner out obviusly works fine. There's no line in for Cds and such like all the others in this range have them, which would've been kinda' for the piezo in my guitar. The phaser and flanger is good as is the tremelo which I use in some Rhythm parts.Rec out is good though the line out appears noisy just like the old cube40 Chorus I keep for emergencies.I guess I could've done with more than 2 channels but backing off to obtain crunch worked in the good old days so I keep trying.

Sound Quality : 10
I use aPeavy EXP custom with locking pegs I had put on.If you don't know this it has a Gib ish neck,Single Coil Middle and a open humbucker at the bridge. They are not high out put indeed my old emergency washburn has much more but they have a smoother sound especially the neck . The pickup position 2 is great for Chic-ness 4 is indeed very Eric. All the amp models respond in a very legit way, indeed it was the immediecy of the clean sound that caused me to trade. The clean sound is smooth with a really natural warmth and drive.I do however wish a Volume was on this channel too it would be really nice to get some dirt at a lower level,I know crunch is designed to come in later in the gain curve but my experience so far is this is too lud for my contexts. At the moment I'm experimenting with two of the other models for my dirty sounds Classic Stack and Metal .The first time I gigged It I played safe and used The Classic. This Isn't quite as Plexi as I'm used too but with Global presence it not muddy and the clean goes more Tweed with presence anyway(bonus!)This sound was good but not quite as sustainy as I'd really like.So next Gig I used the Metal Model. This had the gain and a really good lead sound, though for the rhythm part in my context to much cabinet chugg so I pulled the bass off and it was better but pushed the compromise in favour of the lead sound.Even though the 2nd gig was with a big rig with everything miked up we still try to balance the backline without monitors first. On both gigs the Clean sound was more than enough and my previuos amp had 15watts more but as you've read if anything for me the amp starts to add crunch for me at too higher level I'd like more control. The other models I've toyed with the acoustic is very good.the Brit combois very good(shame we don't do any Beatles,Cream or Queen really)The tweed isn't my style but very legit. The R-Fier is good if you like that sorta thing. The dyna amp setting will take some practice but make answer my crunch leads problem so again I'll Keep tryin

Reliability : No Opinion
Not had it long enough to tell but the Cube 40 is still going and i got that 2nd hand 5 years ago so hopefully it will have the same genes!I Don't take an amp back as such but my trusty Tri-Ac through the powered monitor I use for acoustic is there just in case, which is something I 'd carry no matter what I'd bought

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
Compared to Line 6 Spider 1&2 Laney VC 30 Trade mark 60(mearly a tonal reference my Triac wasn't there at the point of purchase)I wish I had one amp the size of the cube the had the 3 tones from my tri-ac and reverb chorus and delay all switchable from a simple 6 button stomp box Then for this month I'd be happy! Oh yes and tremelo(sigh)

Just bought this amp as I wanted something portable for practice and smaller gigs. Where do I start?? There are so many features on this amp. This is one of the new amp modelling one's with 9 different amp simulations all of which are pretty impressive depending what kind of music you play (acoustic, black panel, brit combo, tweed, stack classic, metal, rectifier, dyna amp). It has built in effects including chorus, flanger, phaser and tremelo, it also has reverb and delay. Its got a clean channel based on the Roland JC series and the amp simulator channel. Everything is switchable via three inputs using the Roland footswitches ( I made my own three way footswitch using momentary switches, very easy to do). Also comes with an extension speaker output, a line out for direct input to a mixer or for recording, a tuner output and headphone output which is great for practicing without annoying everyone in the house. The EQ include's BASS, MID, TREBLE and PRESENCE. For the money these are feature packed little amps with a lot of power for small to large gigs. I was originaly going to buy the cube-30 but you can only switch between clean and crunch (can't switch delays or effects). So for only an extra $100 I opted for the 60 which is fully switchable, comes with a 12 inch speaker and a lot more grunt. Anyway, any one of these new Roland COSM cubes are GREAT VALUE for money and a lot of fun, highly recommended!!!!

Sound Quality : 10
This is where it matter's and you won't be dissapointed. I use a 70's Telecaster and switch between the clean channel and the brit combo or tweed setting. I also run a RAT for a different drive option and for a solo boost. The amp simulators are pretty good and the acoustic setting is a handy little option. The FX's are all good in their own quirky ways, chorus is not as good as my boss Ce-2 but still very useable, flanger and phaser are great but don't use them a lot. The tremelo is very cool and I find myself using it a lot. I love the delay on this thing, you can get a great 50's slap delay by running it on the minimum settings, the reverb is also very usable and handy to have. The clean channel is designed to break up at higher volumes and that it does ( you will go deaf tho', probably a handy recording feature) Overall a great sounding amp, a lot of fun, not much to lug around and excellent value for money for someone just starting out or the pro guitar player!!!!!

Reliability : 10
I've only had it for a couple months but so far no problems and having had Roland gear in the past I don't expect any. The folks who have reviewed the Cube-30 praise its reliability so I expect the 60 will be the same.

I've been playing for 20 years, I own a lot of guitars but as far as amps go I have a Fender 59 Bassman, a Vox ac-30 and now the Cube, so I have the right amp for the right situation. I would definitly consider buying this again if something happened to it. I love the fact that I have so many options as far a sounds and the many situations I can use this amp in are endless. And for a transistor amp it sounds fantastic!! Overall one of the best purchases I've made (and I've made a lot!) For anyone after something to practice with, and for gig's of any size I highly recommend this amp. I imagine it would made a great recording tool as well. Good work Roland!!!!
