2 Channels, bright switch, tone controls, distortion, spring reverb, vibrato/chorus. The distortion is worthless. The chorus is priceless.

Sound Quality : 9
I've used a Strat, a Les Paul and an acoustic and have had good results. This amp is clean and accurate. I use a SansAmp and get killer tones at killer volumes, both clean and dirty. The chorus is what makes this amp a collector.

Reliability : 10
Solid state means no tube related problems. I've had mine for 12 years and have never had a problem. I've cleaned the pots a few times, though (twice in 12 years).

Customer Support : No Opinion
Bought it used. Know a great amp tech but never used him for my Roland.

Overall Rating : 9
If you only want to lug around amp, and have/can afford a good tube pre-amp/tube emulator, this is the amp. At 120 watts you'll more than enough power. It's great for most styles and if you're like me, you play more than one style.

as all the previous entries stated, two channels, all the normal features you'd expect on an amp of it's size. I really wish it came with a footswitch for the effects (chorus etc.)

Sound Quality : 9
well, it's pretty quiet, almost no hum when clean, distortion is buzzy, and the distortion also isn't much to talk about, a little bit of treble break up, but nothing heavy. I use a distortion box, so I don't have to worry about getting my rather grungy tone. The clean channel is very clean..and loud...and clean...and loud... it can be made harp it hurts, or in the middle with the midrange and bass turned up how I like it.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't had the amp for more than a few weeks, so I wouldn't be able to tell you, but the guy before me had it for ten years without a flaw

Overall Rating : 9
it's a good amp, big enough for just about any gig I'll ever hope of getting, will give you a good clean sound, but you supply any distortion. I would definetly buy it again. It's obviously in another class than my old peavey bandit, but it sounds worlds better. it's not only a good amp, but it's a lot of good amp for the money.

The JC-120 is an open-back 2x12 combo, solid state, that offers two channels, each with 3-pot active tone, one of which also offers reverb, distortion, chorus and vibrato. As mentioned in many earlier reviews, the distortion is not of much use (sounds like a single gain stage that just adds a high-end break up and mid buzz), but it should be noted that the beautiful chorus and vibrato effects are true stereo (the cabinet's two speakers become left & right when either effect is engaged) are what has made the JC line so enduring. Headphone outs, slave outs, and effects loops are located on the back panel.

Sound Quality : 7
The amp is best suited to creating ultra-clean, bright sounds - especially when a bit of chorus/vibrato is desired. Even at extremely high volumes, this amp will not break up and distort. The amp is reasonably quiet, although not not amazingly so. As the amp is capable of cleanly reproducing just about anything that its given, it's a good solid state choice for guitarists wishing to use one of the many guitar tube preamps that have become so popular recently. In this configuration, it's capable of sounding sweet and creamy rather than its out-of-the box shiny bright and crystal clear. If you own one, try it!

Reliability : 10
This amp is RELIABLE. I've owned (and gigged with) this amp since about 1982 - WITH ABSOLUTELY NO INCIDENTS. Hey, it's solid state and needs help producing tube-like sounds, but wow, it don't break! Think about it before you buy the guitar amp equivalent of a Jaguar (ever seen "Gumball Rally"?).

Customer Support : No Opinion
As mentioned above, I've never had reason to contact Roland regarding this product, so my first-hand experience with their customer support is non-existent (I kinda prefer it that way). But we're talking about Roland here, and their support on other gear I've owned has been commendable (plenty of service centers). The JC series has been around for quite a while now, so it's expected that they've worked the kinks out. Lastly, Roland has only a few other amp lines, so focus shouldn't be a problem.

Overall Rating : 8
The truth is, that as I've grown as a guitarist I've become less dependent on my JC-120 and more on my expensive, less reliable tube amps (Vox AC-30 for clean tones and a Laney head/cab stack for distorted). But if I were ampless and needed to gig frequently, I'd go straight to the shop and a JC for their reliablity. And if I had any greenbacks left over, I would probably go in for a tube preamp or amp simulator configuration as described above. If you're a solid state fan (are there any of you out there?) it's a must-have for clean sounds. Try a JC in combination with an acoustic guitar with a built-in pickup.

Very versatile amp. Lots of power. Very clean. Has two channels which is great for an accoustic side and a lead. ( One side contains a brightness switch, volume, treble, middle and bass. ) ( The other channel has all the same plus the special effects ... Chorus, distortion, reverb, vibrato, speed, etc ) Distortion is not that great. But the chorus is one of the best I have heard. A great amp for both accoustic and electric.

Sound Quality : 9
Very clean sounding amp. No noise. As mentioned, Distortion is not great. This amp is not made for a Rocker. Definately, a jazz/blues amp.

Reliability : 8
I have owned and used this amp for only 6 months. Can't really give an accurate rating for this. So far so good though !!!

Haven't had to utilize this ! Hopefully, never have too !

Overall Rating : 9
Would buy this again. It is exactly what I was looking for. An amp that is clean, has a great chorus effect, two channels and especially works well with both an accoustic and electric presentation.
I find it a little heavy to lug around .. but that is too be expected of an amp this size.
