The Samick LA40R is really good for what i play. The Clean channel have: Gain, High, Mid, Low and a switch for Bright, what's very good when you do want a clean sound. The other channel, Mean have: Gain (0 to a little overdrive until 10 to a distortion. It's distortion is not too good, there are other amps at the same category that have better distortion, but it is not bad for me, once I use a pedal for distortion. It has a phone jack and a line out jack. It also have send/return jacks that you can use, I think, with other amps and pedals. It has a very good Reverb. To paly at home and also in jams it is really good.

I use a Tagima guitar, good for playing heavy songs and with a good distortion pedal you can make a good song, like Metallica, Refused, Nirvana. I also play Beatles on it, that needs a good clean song and it is really good to me, a bright clean song with a reverb, the sound is clear, no noises. You can do a big variety of styles knowing how to use the settings of the amp.

Not in all situations. if is something big you can't depend on it. You will need a louder amp. I bought it from another person and no repairing has been needed in the 1 year I'm using it.

the amp is good enough as a practice amp.. i Play metal like metallica, megadeth, ozzy, patnehera ans some punk rock like greenday and it's good for playing it, but not too loud...
there are 2 channels, clean and mean (with a bright switch for clean) it's has a channel swithing between clean and mean (foot switch not included) there is the efect loop or whaever it's called (send and return... i use that to plug a couple of amps together.) and a aux out in the back. one input and one ?inch head phone jack in front. I wish it had an efect like chorus... but they don't... the clean channel has 4 setting knobs: gain (volume) high, med, low plus teh bright switch... the mean (distortion/ overdrive) channel has 5 setting knobs: gain (makes you select the level... but all it doesis that at 0... it's the overdrive... and at 10... it's the dstortion) high, med, low, and volume. it also has a reverb but it's for both channel at the time. I only use this amp at home... when i jam. i use my friend's amp (it's stronger) and i wish it would get louder before my amplifer chip cuts of... ( that the amp's problem)

i use 4 guitar with that amp ( fender strat squier Wayne's wordl LE with stock pickup.. singles coils... a crapy profile... and a good profile with a Di-Marzio and a BC Rich warlock with stock pickups) and i wish the distortion would be deeper in it... the clean sound sounds nice dough... especially when i use my nobel distortion, boss super O-D and a cry baby...

As far as the sound quality is concerned I got what I paid for. I am playing a Left Handed Stratocaster with Texas Special Pickups. I find this amp extremely limiting when playing at a jam. There is very little in the way of deep frequency; ie "BASS". I am into the blues and dig clean channel sound. This was my first amp - so little was known at the time of what to purchase. The clean channel is fairly bright, but lacks certain depth. At louder volumes - regardless of where the bass dial is, it can't compete with better amps. The higher end sounds are thin and weak.
The distortion channel is another story...or the same actually... SAMICK produces the WORST distortion sound regardless of what you are plugging into it. The sound is BUZZY to the point of unusable and the lack of depth in sound frequency is even more apparent than the clean channel.
I'll give the people at SAMICK credit for the Reverberation this amp produces. I leave it all the way up, and it gives a better 'bluesy' tone. Now that my guitar is crankin', Time to get a better amp. Good for a bedroom practice amp (or whatever other room you use it)

I've never experienced any problems with the SAMICK. It's a tough little bugger. It's slid around the boot/trunk of my car, bounced around, scratched etc.. and it always keeps going. No servicing has been required in the 2 years I've had it.

The Warrenty was for 3 years, at least that is what the small piece of paper said, that was torn at the bottom of the box. The instruction manual summed up all its functions well.
I've never had to contact SAMICK customer service for any reason.

Let me put it this way, If this amp was stolen or I 'lost' it, I wouldn't buy another one. I've come to the point where I know what sound I'm after. I need to get an amp that compliments my Texas Special pickups, not one that inhibits it. Good for beginner or bedroom player. It's a frustrating amp to use at gigs or jams.
At the time I only had other SAMICK amps to compare it to, all of which were smaller. I got what was within my price range at the time. Looking forward to getting a TECH-21!! YAY!! TONE!!

Fairly good setup. Two channels, one clean, the other "mean" (distorion), plus a bright switch and reverb. No "master" volume, but that hasnt caused any problems

Setup is ---> ESP H-100 --> Crybaby Wah --> Ibanez CF7 Chorus/Flange --> Ibanez Classic Metal. I actually think i get a pretty nice clean sound outta this box. It took me forever, but i finally got a nice tone by stringing my guitar with heavier strings (.52--.11s) and using the BRIGHT channel. Before the sound was way too thin, but now i get a nice, full tone. Im bout to replace the stock pickups on my ESP with either some Gibson 85s or EMG 81 and 85, but im satisfied with my cheap setup (Im a poor college student). I keep the amp at a fairly low volume i guess (around 4 and 5), but ive never had a hissing or noise problem. As far as distortion goes......look somewhere else. I gave up and rely purely on the pedal for distortion.

Never dealt with Samic, but the amp came with a good warranty.

I play mostly hendrix, zeppelin, and rage, and i think this amp provides a good clean tone. To anyone thinking of buying this amp, save yourself some time and go ahead and invest in a good stomp box. Until i can afford a Marshall stack/PRS combo, this will have to do.
